Well, I could, if the download link didn't tell me that they couldn't find the file... <grumble> And the 'contact us' link brings up a blank white screen. Oh well, I'll try again later.

Didn't work, RHat, it is the download link itself that's telling me they can't find it. I even tried *shudder* using IE to see if it was just a problem with Chrome, so I don't know what's going on.

And I'd rather not pay for it again, Sichr.

Strange.  Worked through Chrome for me...  Possible it's a script blocking issue or something?

That, or there's been so much attention the download server's cut off access to the file the time being to prevent a crash, or somesuch.  :P

Got it.  All good CanRay.  Not an issue with Drive-Thru RPG, at least not at the moment.

This is a great one.
It answers a bunch of simsense related questions we had in a well thought out way.
And thank's alot for the addiction rules and fluff. It's an important part in this cyberpunk dystopia and you've done a great job there. In a world where the next fix is just a download away, addictions should really be a problem.

Thumbs up, 'Ray!

Gotta hand it to Drive-Thru RPG. Only a couple hours after I sent my email, they gave me a working link to download.

I might pick this up.  There was an encounter in one of the early 1E books that described a group of Troll chip heads, who through overdose of BTLs, thought they were Caribbean pirates. They had a van painted to look like a pirate ship and they dressed like 17th century pirates.  That is the stuff that says Shadowrun to me.

Just read about the allusion to 2XS over at Dumpshock. Now I'm really curious about this book which came out before my Shadowrunning time. At least I got the one about Molly. Made me smile :)

Just for backwards compatibility:
What would be the stats for Tempo in the new addiction system? This could be quite interesting for Ghost Cartels.
And what is it with those sheep? Turbo Bunny won't tell.

Then you'll love this announcement (http://www.catalystgamelabs.com/2013/03/14/catalyst-game-labs-announces-new-shadowrun-print-novels/).

That, is a good question.  I'll go through Ghost Cartels again to figure out, the BADs were hard to ascertain what kind of rating they should have.  It also doesn't help Tempo being what it is, so...  Put it down as a 9 or 10, it's nasty stuff.  If I change my mind later, I'll post, but I doubt it.
And what is it with those sheep? Turbo Bunny won't tell.
The Sheep, singular.

Title: Re: Sim Dreams and Nightmares!

At 17-pages, it'd be a short novel.  ;D

No, it's fluff for Simsense, BTLs, Personasofts, and Skillwires, and crunchy rules for Addiction for...  Well, all of those, Chemical drugs, BADs, and Magical Foci.

And one sheep.

There is one little call-out to an existing novella, though.  Ray was gracious enough to sneak something in there for me.   ;)

Heh, no, nothing overt to try and get people to buy it...just a little nod and wink to the continuity, in a Jackpointer comment that's topical, is all.

Plan 9 brings up something that I had never really considered in the SR setting - The UN. I would have thought that particular organization dead and gone or at least completely irrelevant. How much power does the UN wield in the 2070's?

Ironically, slightly more than it does today, which isn't saying much.

The UN has become a tool for the Corporate Court to deal with Governments that aren't playing ball, but haven't done enough to warrant destroying their economy completely (Or it's not cost effective to do so.).  UN forces still provide humanitarian aid in areas that have suffered extreme situations, and still operates it's Peacekeeper force drawn from it's various members military units.

You can find a reference to this in Arsenal:
Quote from: Arsenal_Page_24
FN P93 Praetor: The P93 is a bullpup submachine gun developed for the Corporate Court-controlled United Nations peacekeeping forces. During the riots following the Second Matrix Crash in 2064, it became obvious that many of the so called “blue helmets” were ill-equipped for military riot-suppression operations...
It's also a very nice looking SMG with decent stats.

Other than that, the UN is just like the Corporate Court, trying to keep the peace between inherently belligerent groups, some of whom have military forces or more than enough funds to hire Shadowrunners.

Is it real that such organisations (WHO, UN...possibly even some governments that mattrsl like USAC, CAS, NEEC etc :)) are not covered in any sourcebook? Isnt there at least entry in 6WA for them?
Title: Re: Sim Dreams and Nightmares!
Post by: Nath on <03-24-13/1524:45>
In Fourth edition you mean? The United Nations Organization had something like 5 pages in Loose Alliances, and the NEEC also had 4 and half a page in Shadows of Europe, where it was originally introduced. On the UCAS government, you had bit there and there (from the The Neo-Anarchist Guide to North America to Conspiracy Theories).

A 100+ pages dedicated sourcebook (like Tir Tairngire or Aztlan, no. Though NEEC membership was used as an in-game excuse to explain why SoE covers only certain countries in Europe (so technically it is a NEEC sourcebook).
