Oh look, a wild campaign appeared! Welcome to the OOC topic blah blah blah. We'll be using Invisible Castle for dice rolling so if you'd like to start off by rolling your starting cash, that would be great. I will be posting descriptions in black, NPC dialogue in red, and my own character's dialogue in green. I'm not sure about the etiquette pertaining to multiple characters; do you want me to put them in the same post or wait until someone else posts and then respond IC?
Here's the character links I have so far; try to keep them up-to-date:
Marduk: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pOI-aHuMf8fsrFrhQn1KIMIWJFPqa_TzZ_gIK-pAZxs/edit?usp=sharing
Draco: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10ixmM0yhkdxlth9adsGRSyrJffCrXcqqab7zkO5XFeM/edit?usp=sharing
Three Star: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12wE22MQ82gZD-ZOdG8j8B9TKWX5_FkCBJzV7EFNWbUw/edit?usp=sharing
Tink: https://docs.google.com/document/d/14dCyB6GHr6X5R_6t1XP1JRdTucuWoHoR7bYxGj60osk/edit?usp=sharing
Shark: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KBotNMwFndZ5ESprVuUNTfW53AC9s7g44tSzqsdpWhE/edit?usp=sharing

-
Using Chummer, it made me roll that already.... do you want me to drop that money and reroll?
-
Nah, that's fine. I didn't notice it did that :P.
-
OK. :) Glad that works for you.
-
Starting Nuyen, Middle (4d6=16) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3996383/)
so 1600 nuyen.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/12wE22MQ82gZD-ZOdG8j8B9TKWX5_FkCBJzV7EFNWbUw/edit?usp=sharing
-
OK... So, I think we're gonna have talking in red, descriptions in black of course, matrix/comm communications in green, and any magical communication (Don't have it yet, but I'm planning on it) in purple.
-
Starting Nuyen (4d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3996462/)
I'm an idiot and told it to calculate hits for no raisin, so ignore that part! With his High lifestyle that gives Marduk 8,000Y. Yay?
EDIT: Aaaannnnddd I'm down 900 of that already because I was working off a slightly-outdated version of the sheet and forgot to add his PPP armor in. Fixed that, down to 7,100Y.
-
IC topic is up and we have officially begun! http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php?topic=10438.0
Feel free to start wherever you like; crawling out of bed, on the way to the bar, or even walking through the door. You can define your relationship with Steelfish however you want. If you're new to Seattle, it's likely you were pointed towards him for work. If you're an old hand you're probably familiar with him by reputation at least.
I'm going to be posting Marduk's stuff in separate posts from story stuff. Yes, that basically means I'm posting twice as much but that's an acceptable trade-off for making sure I don't always get to act before everyone.
Here we go!
-
I have 550 monies:

-
My posting legend's in my signature. It will probably be useful if everyone else does the same - just a suggestion, but it's good to have that reference at the bottom of a post.
Forgot to mention Shark's general loadout before, too. He keeps a supply of standard ammo, gel rounds for less than lethal purposes, EX-Ex for more serious situations, subsonic and Hi-C for more subtle work, and usually 2 clips of Stick-n-Shock as anti-spirit rounds. The Ruger and Survival Knife are his every day carries (with clips of regular, gel, and one or two of Stick-n-Shock on hand), with the Colt, subsonic ammo, Hi-C rounds and Ceramic Knife being left hidden away for when he needs something undetectable, and the vibrosword and EX-Ex similarly left behind save for when more serious punch is required. He's paranoid enough to stay fully armoured, though.
Will roll starting nuyen when not posting from my phone.
-
Regular ammo in everything except the shotgun, which has Ex-Ex
Scary Monster is in the quick draw holster and the Revolver is in a concealed ankle holster
Ceramic knife is on him at all times.
-
Ex-Ex in the White Knight and Thunderbolt, Hi-C in the Elan, Flashbang Microgrenades in the MGL-6. Yes, the grenade launcher is his least lethal weapon. That should tell you quite a bit about him.
EDIT: Also, he keeps the White Knight and its gyromount in his patrol car's gun safe, the Thunderbolt in a wrist slide, the MGL-6 in his suit's concealable holster, and the Elan in his pocket. He is also paranoid enough to be armored at all times and wearing his shock gloves. The B&E gear/gas mask is in a small bag attached to the back of his belt, hidden by the suit and overcoat.

Visual reference, but Diego is 25
I'm playing a horrible person. I apologise for nothing.
-
Wow. Due to a complete oversight on my part, I forgot to add the enhancements to Jimmy's cybereyes... Fixing that. Also, seeing as his name suggests Spanish descent, should probably give him Spanish as a language...
umra: Couple of things about Invisible Castle.
- Copy and paste the BB Code, not the HTML.
- You can make multiple rolls at once by filling in the "Dice" box in the form "md6.hits(5); nd6.hits(5)". Basically, use a semi-colon as a separator.
-
If I can be honest, i'm playing a character who -will- not be cut out for running in the long term, because I plan on using this game as backstory for him when he enters my PbP as an NPC.
So I hope he only ends up getting on your nerves IC and not OOC.
-
Oh, so you don't have a problem that he's being judged as amateur hour?
Also, hoping that doesn't mean you're planning a short run or anything.
-
No I'm not planning on that, but if you or anyone else end up killing him for being a complete bag of dicks, that'd certainly cause it lol
I mean only Retro knows what i've all ready caused.
-
Eh, that's what burning Edge is for.
Trust me, if I have an OOC issue, I'll raise it (politely). If I don't do that, the issue is purely IC. I should hope the same applies to everyone else.

I constantly hope it applies to everyone.
But some gaming groups, oy.

Exactly
-
Less fun? Couldn't have asked for a better setup. Marduk is anything but fun unless you particularly enjoy excessive, unnecessary violence. Which, granted, a least a decent chunk of you probably do!
-
Well, all my issues are IC, unless I message you about them... that's about the only time I'm actually bothered. Also, it doesn't help that my Mentor Spirit tries to make me escalate everything...
Oh! Retro, do you want me to roll for the bipolar, or are you going to?
-
I had to say it.
I HAD TO
-
Oh, absolutely. I'd have been disappointed if you didn't.
It's fine if you roll it.
-
Well, all my issues are IC, unless I message you about them... that's about the only time I'm actually bothered. Also, it doesn't help that my Mentor Spirit tries to make me escalate everything...
Which probably makes it a good thing that I deescalated it. :P
Also you are entitled to a Willpower+Charisma roll if your character doesn't want to escalate it.
-
I know. :) I've been making them. I just figured it'd show through a little, since I only managed to barely make it.
-
Oh fuck wait, how high is his background count Retro? 4? and Draco's MAG is at 5. To a duel natured being, in roleplay terms, not mechanic terms as its just counted as a background count and not the true dead zone hazing could be seen as, that's near fatal.
-
4, yeah. Which means Draco is operating at an effective MAG of 1. I'd have to imagine that's not super comfortable, especially to a dual-natured drake... although it won't actually kill anything other than a spirit.
-

Not for drakes and shifters, at least - losing the Magic takes away abilities (and locks them in their true form), but it doesn't actually hurt them.

Ah I see, im much more used to duel natured rules for HMHVV
Actually what force were his sustained spells cast at? they may have just been disrupted.
-
They were at 2 and 3... so thanks for that.
-
Yeah, there's a reason why it's a negative quality.
-
Don't worry, the radius will get shorter and shorter as my Essence inevitably drops :P. I wonder... what happens if I become a cyberzombie? They also have permanent background counts...
-
No kidding. Keep that guy away from me... What's the range on that?
-
In his case, 1.55 metres. If you're not familiar with metric, a metre is roughly 3.3 feet.
-
Essence meters, so 1.55m or almost exactly 5 ft currently.
-
I was inclined to roll a Judge Intentions test on that post of yours, Chrona. :P
So I did. Any objection to Jimmy picking up an impression of what Three Star's thinking?
Judge Intentions (11d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3997352/)
-
I don't mind, I know Jimmy wont mention it in public as hes just settled the tension.

He will, however, file it away for later.

Now, now. It's poor planning to go turning the team mage in for a bounty. At least so long as you don't have a replacement lined up. :P
-
Retro, I assume you saw Tink asking about Silvershark?
Also, do you guys know why my Agi would be 1 on my output? I noticed encumbered causes my dice pools for physical stuff to take a hit (and I just need to say I'm not carrying things I wouldn't be) but not sure why my Agility took a hit.
-
Because encumbrance directly lowers your AGI and REA stats. Quick way to calculate it is: neither impact nor ballistic armor can exceed BODx2, but the armor from FFFBA (and ONLY that armor) counts as half.
-
Has Draco actually taken any damage not from Drain? Because you can't heal Drain damage with magic.
Also, there's another player who wants in. Since we're at 5 already I'll leave it totally up to you guys!
-
Wait, really?!? Damn...
Bring him on!
-
The more the merrier, I'd say.
-
I'm OK
-
Looks like my issue is my cyber arm. Should tinker around with that if retro let's me. Should increase agility or something instead of armor since it's causing me to be encumbered.
-
Heh
Heh
Heh
It begins.
-
Just added a roll to my last post.
-
Rolls posted.
-
Yeah, that ended a little suddenly, but I figure Jimmy basically crushed their leader with that Etiquette roll and, not being professionals at all, they really didn't know how to handle it.
Also, Umraefin, you may not be able to heal Drain with magic but you CAN use First Aid on it. Once per set of wounds, as always.
-
Epic facery is epic?
-
Indeed. I will be altering the listed pay for all the missions, by the way, because they seem to be HORRIBLY low. Feel free to negotiate with Johnson for a pay raise on top of that, of course.
-
Character Sheet updated
-
i feel bad
-
Three-Star should probably realize that he screwed up. If for no other reason than when there's now a knife.
-
which hand is the knife in, i assume it'd have to be the arm three star has his hand on te shoulder off, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to turn to use the other hand to do it because of the pressure on his shoulder?
-
I was this close to giving Marduk Vindictive, but settled on Combat Monster instead. Still intend to RP him as if he had it though.
-
which hand is the knife in, i assume it'd have to be the arm three star has his hand on te shoulder off, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to turn to use the other hand to do it because of the pressure on his shoulder?
Yeah, but stop and consider this for a second: Diego dislocates his shoulder or something, Jimmy's got to go to a street doc. But before you can do that, that knife is going somewhere Diego really doesn't want it.

And Richter pulls the trigger. He's still sitting down so he could fire before you reach him most likely.
Of course, if you wanted to roll-up a new character... :P
-
I'm just getting the scene straight in my head, i dont plan to fight
Vindictive Composure for Jimmy, Jimmy again, then Marduk (7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=1, 7d6.hits(5)=4) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4001505/)
son. of. a. bitch.
the second one was for the knife and he glitched. looks like Diego plans to fight even if i dont.
-
Yeah, I figured not - being this screwed could probably be taken as an opportunity for him to learn that he seriously screwed up.
-
despite the rolls ill hold out on making this an all out brawl right at the start
also you wouldnt be cutting off any nadgers if he won the initiative, just saying.
anyway combat avoided, Diego has unfortunately not learnt his lesson, and never will based on my inspiration for him in the first place. He's only learnt to be less overt next time.
He still succeeded in his original plan, and the reason he called KE, of identifying the strongest links in the team, which are Jimmy and Marduk.
-
also you wouldnt be cutting off any nadgers if he won the initiative, just saying.
Edge to go first. :P
-

i can do that too and then we're back to rolls
-

Edge to go first. :P

Meanwhile, I'd already turned my Wired Reflexes, so I'd have had the edge on Initiative in theory. :P
Still, generally not productive to start running that sort of comparison.
-
Yeah... when things start going that pear shaped, its fairly likely everyone is going to either die, get arrested, or have to go so far underground the game would pretty much end.
-
at least we're only talking about it.
Though with 75% of the team actively saying out loud that they'll gang up on him if he does anything again im not sure it'd make any remote sense for him to be on the team anymore anyway. Also with the fixer ratting on him to the rest of the team when I'm the only person to have established being a regular to the bar. =/
Basically, retro, if I had him turn down the job now, would you have a way of dealing with it that wouldn't involve forcing him to have to do it. Because with the KE thing out in the open, there's no point even feigning trust from here on, which would make the team never rely on Diego in any planning and relegate him to second string combat only because of marduks presence
-
Well, for the question of what happens, it's simple. Diego leaves, and a new guy comes in...
-

So you want me to leave the game?
-
Well, for the question of what happens, it's simple. Diego leaves, and a new guy comes in...
So you want me to leave the game?
I think he was trying to suggest that, should you not want to have Diego stay involved due to it not making sense, you could make a new character.
-
I wouldn't want to hold the game up with that, and it's not that I don't want him to not be involved, it just feels like he won't be involved since the fixers turned the team on him.
Which is why I'm just asking how retro wants to handle it.
-
Thus far, he's being given a chance. He screwed up big time, though, which is why he's not getting much for latitude.
-
I think he'll be fine, just a rough start. Tink isn't worried at all, he just likes his toys.
-
Sorry for the miscommunication. I didn't want to suggest you quit, it's quite interesting having you. As for Diego... well, Draco is wary of him, but not enough to ditch him, especially if he makes himself useful. He won't hesitate to zap the hell out of you if you pull that shit again, however.
-
After marduk came in and things settled down i felt id gotten back some points during the batman conversation, and even the fake KE thing was fine up until steelfish revealing it was me, and that means my contact ratted me out to steelfish within an hour, so there's no point in the contact either.

at least my essence is low if you do.
-
You did, indeed, get some points back. However, that was sorta offset by the whole KE thing. We'll get over it though.
Does that make a difference?
-
Does that make a difference?
you lose dice for every essence point gone on the target, it makes healing harder on us too and believe you'll all ready be losing 2 dice for healing an augmented
-
Really? That's weird... Even for combat spells?
-
Really? That's weird... Even for combat spells?
It's possible that it's an optional rule that i just got used to every GM ive had using it, (I used to play mages) can someone confirm?
I think it atleast effects direct combat spells
-
It should be pointed out, as a bit of a non-sequitur, that people will tend to have an unusually strong positive first impression of Jimmy - the combination of the First Impression and Glamour qualities will tend to have an effect on how people perceive him. That's where his Distinctive Style comes from - it's basically the polar opposite of what Richter has going on.
Diego's amusing, but that doesn't buy him extra tolerance for something like that. However, he's not up the river yet - he just has to be smart enough to watch himself.
Does that make a difference?

Actually, that only applies to healing. Low Essence does not defend you against Combat, Detection, Illusion, or Manipulation spells. Physical spells directly affect the Physical world, so Essence isn't in the equation. Mana spells effect you regardless of cyber because by paying Essence for it you've made it integral to your self.
-
Actually, that only applies to healing. Low Essence does not defend you against Combat, Detection, Illusion, or Manipulation spells.
I continue to wonder where my gms got that from. they said it was because there was less person to aim at. (in terms of direct spells, not indirect)
-
Thanks RHat. That makes a lot more sense.
-

Seeing as you can aim Direct Combat spells at things with Object Resistance? I'm gonna go with "didn't know to magic rules so well, making magic seem WAY overpowered".
-
Steelfish is not cool with people deliberately calling cops to his bar. Which is probably why he pays them not to show-up unless HE calls them and to report calls involving him. Just good business for a fixer with a rep for hosting neutral ground. He doesn't really care if people murder each other OUTside as long as it can't be said they violated his hospitality.
Richter is totally willing to kill Diego at this point but that's irrelevant; he's wiling to kill everybody except maybe Jimmy, who he's starting to like. Because he's kind of, well, insane] to the tune of "keeps his 'wires running whenever he's not asleep". So certainly don't go by what he's doing :P.
You can write him out and make a new character if you really want to. Or you can keep going with him, as the rest of the group seems to be willing to let it slide. Entirely up to you.
Also, pretty sure the low essence thing applies to ALL healing-category spells not just Heal, so it's harder to buff low essence chars as well.
-
Of course, that would also protect them from Negative Health spells.
-

Thats fine, it's just lame that my contact sold me out AND steelfish has told the team it's my fault so they wont trust me.

Like I said i don't want to do that, i just don't see why steelfish would hire him anymore to work with a team that he himself just told not to trust three star.
-
OOO! IDEA
-
Because he doesn't particularly CARE one way or the other. As far as he's concerned, you're even. You betrayed his hospitality and he responded in kind therefore you're squared. He's too old to hold a grudge over everything and doesn't care who's on a team as long as they get the job done.
Also, you're assuming your contact is also his contact. That's not particularly likely given how many officers KE must have.
-
For steelfish to know I did it, my contact told someone it was me
-
For steelfish to know I did it, my contact told someone it was me
Or he knows you have a contact in KE, and put 2 and 2 together.
-
Well three star wouldn't have told steelfish. And i know there's magical and matrix ways but if steelfish is all ready doing them to me before this job i don't see why i'm in his rolodex at all.
-
He's a fixer. Part of his job is to know that so that he knows if you're right for a particular job. Same as it's generally part of his job to run some background on the Johnson. It's part of why Jimmy's still willing to give Diego a chance - Steelfish is still, effectively, endorsing him.
-
I'm not disputing you, i'm just saying this is why it falls to being the contacts "fault", whether it was or not in truth. Retro can all ways have my contact try to explain it wasn't his fault but as it was a hostile contact there's no reason for him to contact diego and the likeliest scenario to diego is he ratted him out, so diego burns him back.
-

Which is certainly in character if he's vindictive.
-
Steelfish is still, effectively, endorsing him.
And I don't understand why he would AND tell the team.
Punish Three Star. yes, but not endorse him AND tell the team.
well anyway thats why i've taken the route i just did with diego, because i and he will not see a point getting paid until they do see him to be useful, not just taking steelfish's tainted words for it.
Which is certainly in character if he's vindictive.
yeah that's what i was aiming for.
-
Things were so much simpler when i was playing chrona, mind control a guy there, eat a guy here. those were the days.
-
Because if the team found out about it and that Steelfish didn't tell them partway into the job, things would be a hell of a lot worse.
-
Because if the team found out about it and that Steelfish didn't tell them partway into the job, things would be a hell of a lot worse.
I don't see how as we'd be out of the country, the international travel was part of the original plan to let this cool down afterwards.
I mean i could have seen them finding out eventually, sure, but not an hour or two after calling my contact, which is why i was knocked for such a loop by this.
-
For example? I'd have checked with my contacts about the source of the raid, a number of whom are quite connected and could have found it out pretty quick. The problem is that he would have found out while we were out of the country, which would have then gotten very, very, very bad.
-
Which is fine, it's just this way I've stripped at the starting gate and as we all agree, recovering is going to be hard. Harder as i know Diego and i don't think he has it in him, at all.
Especially with that glitch. Eventually he's going to have to try to do something really bad to Jimmy.
-
I'd suggest you might want to spend Edge to downgrade that.
-
I'd suggest you might want to spend Edge to downgrade that.
I only have 2 and i don't want to end up not being able to do use it on a ob where we're not even in the same country.
Especially as I fear it's Bagota.
It'd only downgrade it from really bad to bad anyway as i still failed
-
Your choice, of course - but do keep in mid that whatever he does will have consequences.
-
well so did touching hm
the circle of consequences
I'll downgrade it to just a failure. Of course with this hanging over him i don't know if theres any point trying to earn back points with the group, he'll just lose them whenever this composure fail result happens.
-
I'll rephrase: there will be proportionate consequences.
-
To be frank, Diego's literal first act was to try to betray the group. They've shown more levelheadedness than I would've by not shooting him on the spot. I hope you don't feel he's being singled-out unfairly; I feel Steelfish's response was both in-character and well within the abilities of an established fixer.
If I'm alone in that assumption, please inform me and I'll gladly note that for next time.
-

Well that's sort of my point, yes they've been really level headed about it, more than should be expected, so why would Steelfish risk them shooting him on the spot? That's the only bit I'm having trouble with. But i suppose it'll just be down to him having faith that the others aren't crazy enough to do that.
Oh wait Marduk.
So yeah i don't get it, but i'll deal with it.
Also he was testing the group. He just want to see how they'd handle law enforcement and if any of them would do anything wrong when confronted with them. But we're beyond the point where trying to explain that in character would be of any use, after Steelfish vilified Three Star to the team.
-
Chrna: If it's a VR meet, we don't need to physically be there - allowing us to route over from a reasonably secured location.
-
Sorry, Shark's comment about going to a casino being nostalgic made me think at least he was going in the flesh too.
-
He'd prefer it, but it's not really on the table - however, going in VR is pretty close anyways.
-
Ive edited it now

Shadow Community Knowledge (6d6.hits(5)=1) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4004264/) - whether or not Jimmy knows anything about Danielle de la Mar.
I just managed to glitch a knowledge roll...
-
Wasn't a critical glitch, at least! So you don't "remember" anything horribly wrong :P.
-
Do I get anything at all, though?
-
Just that the name doesn't sound familiar as someone in the shadow community.
-
What would I roll for trying to find stiffIn the nets/grid
-
It would be a Data Search action - SR4A, page 230.
-
Tink will try and hide his tracks anywhere where he thinks it might cause issues if he's caught, let me know if I should roll that (Stealth?)
-
You can use Spoof to mask your data trail, which will mean that if someone does happen to be watching for such a search it wouldn't lead back to you.
Also, you may want to sign up for an account on there so that you can link your rolls into the campaign listing - can be good at times to have everything in one place.
-
Just wanted to clarify, as my post left some ambiguity: none of you hear anything that would lead you to believe le Mar is treacherous or otherwise evil, just arrogant and with an agenda not supported by many runners.
Also, RHat, I can't seem to find the link to Shark's sheet. Do you have a gdoc or something I can put a link to on the first page for everyone? Thanks!
-

And frankly, her outlook on shadowrunners leaves Jimmy worried about her - it's not specific, but it's enough for him.
Also, please tell me Three Star's not planning on poisoning another PC...
-
Thanks, added to the first page!
Probably a very appropriate response, actually. Metaplot-wise, she's one of the reasons the Matrix is harder to hack in 5th edition apparently.

See: Storm Front.

its not for a pc
Normally i'd do all this legwork too but Diego is too pissed off and doesn't feel he has any contacts that might be worth asking. So guess i'll just wait.
-
Right, since we've reached the "investigating other party members" stage... you get to decide what info on your character is available, publicly and in the shadows. I don't think anyone has any street cred yet but some people may have noteriety so keep that in mind. Otherwise, anything goes!
-
Well, there's nothing on his public profile that's anything too interesting, but the shadow community had some buzz over him a few weeks back after "he" supposedly blew up a car, killing a whole bunch of innocent people while on a run. His name isn't on his profile, which appears to only be a few weeks old itself. It's almost like who he was before the explosion is just... missing. Also, if people dig hard enough, they can probably find out that Aztechnology is looking for him. Hack into their files, and his whole backstory is there...

My qualities balance out notoriety wise. Easy information is he's been doing low stakes enforcement and negotiation jobs he has a very bad temper, medium is he lives with his father who seems to be the only person he truly cares about, hard information... i don't even know, oh i know, that you find out he keeps in contact with an ex lone star officer turned successful mercenary.
-

M'kay. I'm less concerned about the rest of my "who might the Vindictive quality cause Three Star to poison" list.
As for what people will have heard about Jimmy... There's not much for matrix records, so you can only get anything older than a week from contacts. However, he does have Distinctive Style due to Glamour along with First Impression, so he makes one hell of an impression on people - and generally, a positive one. Contacts might warn you not to overestimate him, but there's not much hard data out there. He showed up in Seattle 2 years ago, rumor holds that he has ties to the Vory, though others hold that he has ties to the Yakuza or to some new go-gang. He's known to work as a grifter, but especially connected contacts might have heard that he can be pretty respectable with pistols and blades if things come to a fight.
-
I rolled all my checks (I believe I did correctly for spoof, my hacking (13) + spoof (5) = 18. I signed up on invisble but when I searched for "Soulless" or "In seattle" nothing came up. I will do more searching during my lunch.
-
As for Marduk, his public profile barely exists. It lists him as a Lone Star detective and Seattle resident but basically nothing else. The shadows tell a very different story. He somehow manages to make being an elf look dull but anyone who has met him finds him unusually menacing. His talent with various ranged weapons and penchant for unnecessary bloodshed is equally apparent. Anyone with any magical ability can point-out his crazy magic black hole; it's not exactly a secret. Seattle contacts can pinpoint his arrival in the city to just a few weeks ago. Hacking can determine his connection to Ares and its Firewatch teams or, with a bit more digging, his criminal status in Tir Tairngire.
Odd, you just type "Soulless in Seattle" into the campaign name box when you roll and it will add it automatically. Also, I'm pretty sure you just have to Spoof your datatrail once per Matrix session, not per roll.
-
Hello all. Thanks for letting me join.

As a note for all I work 3rd shift and my phone isn't so good. If it doesn't have a dice roll it will go up sometime during the evening or early morning. Rolling will have to wait until I get home (around 6AM central)
Despite his name there is quite a bit of info on Ghost via the Matrix. Nothing too recent, the last entry is a blurb about him being discharged from the Wildcat Special Forces in the Sioux Nation. It then shows he resigned from the military citing a "change of heart". As far as the shadows go not much is known about him. He hasn't been in Seattle long but he did a lot of good work down in California, being very good at B&E work and unarmed combat. Apparently he does have an odd choice in weaponry using primarily an old fashioned bow.

Okay now I'm really worried.
-
Why you worried?
-
If you didnt see the conversation earlier, I was worried about Diego getting edged out because he's built for combat but the team is really suspicious of him and pissed off at him so they might just use marduk for anything important and Diego be on the bench, and we have another characters built for combat on top of that.
Also steelfish describes you as a B&E specialist, but though you have the gear, you only have infiltration.
-
Yeah, your adept powers are pure combat, no B&E in there at all...
-
Any suggestions you would care to make? I am still pretty new to character building. Im good with idea and themes. Not so good with numbers. I'd like to avoid a total rebuild of my character but if that's what it takes so be it. If at all possible keeping the martial arts styles. Other than than please feel free to hack away. I take no offence to help. :)
-
What do you figure as the character's primary role? You may want to look at Improved Ability in Infiltration, Gymnastics, or similar; Enhanced Perception and/or Improved Sense; perhaps Voice Control; Facial Sculpt and Melanin could be useful; Great Leap and/or Freefall could be extremely useful; Traceless Walk is huge for Invisible Way adepts; Nimble Fingers may be of some use to you. The only people who need Improved Reflexes 2 are combat specialists (and even then it's often not worth it), you could save a lot of power points by making that IR1 or Rush (from War, offers +1 Initiative pass at the cost of having to deal with Drain after using it, but it's a good deal cheaper). If Retro's inclined to let you take a power from Way of the Adept (which would technically require the Invisible Way quality as well), then you could take Unseen Hands as well.
Overall, if you're trying to build an infil specialist, you've got entirely the wrong power lineup - a bunch of stuff for combat specialists, and frankly some questionable choices even for that purpose (IE, not taking Improved Ability, Nerve Strike is fairly expensive for relatively little gain...). That, and you really should have a skill at 6.
-
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1R5_Fpq_aC2cvjMbt4JnbQ6D3ew6_GJ1-3Dk--uit5vU/edit?usp=sharing
Here he is Ghost 2.0. Look better?
-
You should absolutely take the Invisible Way from Way of the Adept. As RHat mentioned, it will let you take Invisible Hands which is basically Improved Ability for the entire Stealth group. Improved Reflexes 2 is best for primary combatants, true, but everybody can benefit from IR 1. You might want to consider just taking the Stealth skill group; it will prevent you from taking a 6 in Infiltration right away but all of the skills in it are good and Invisible Hands boosts them all. You probably also don't want zero ranks in Perception, especially as a stealth specialist.
-
You don't have the software to use any of your Matrix skills - which is kind of huge, because if you don't have the right program you flat out cannot take the action. You can probably get away with just taking the Electronics Group at 1 (saving some points), unless you're looking to be a secondary hacker (in which case there's some other changes to make). And Improved Ability is a good thing to get, but you're probably dedicating more than you should to that rather than more capability-broadening powers. Getting some kind of initiative booster would be good for those times that you do need it - I'd recommend Rush, because it's cheap, though with the Drain component it's really only suited to characters that don't always need the boost.
-
umrafein: Can't find any clear rules on the subjec,t but I'm not sure if Marduk's background count would interfere with a warding if you're personally outside of the range of his background count.
-
Way I see it, if he's a personal dead zone, wouldn't he sort of put a hole in the ward? Like... a gap in the defenses?
-
"Dead zone" isn't really an accurate description of a background count.
-
Hmm... I'm not sure how wards work with background counts, actually. Since they can be fairly large I'd say he has to be near the anchor point of the ward to actually collapse it. Otherwise he could just poke a ward on a corp facility and collapse the whole thing. Or you could make it at a force higher than 4 and it will persist regardless.
A background count is more "interference" than "dead zone". Mechanically, they can be either magical dead zones or areas of enormous magical power with the same result: they interfere with all magic not aspected to the site. Like a cyberzombie's, Marduk's background count isn't aspected to any tradition so it always causes penalties instead of bonuses.
-
Dead zone is something like a mana void, IE, space - an area where there's no magic to use in the first place. Areas of background count simply have mana that's less... cooperative unless it's aspected to your brand of magic.
But yeah, his background count shouldn't automatically collapse a ward - probably sets them off if it comes into contact with one, but Astral Hazing isn't generally the sort of thing that works for you.
-
By the way, Chrona: Three-Star is being excluded from the call for... Reasons. It's not a matter of him being edged out, but Jimmy's good at reading people (it's major part of how he got by for quite some time) and he's more than a little worried about Three Star. Enough so that he's excluding him from the security discussion.
-

i know
-
At some point we should probably just fast-forward to the meet... I'm still waiting on a response from Bywhan, but we've got security responsibilities figured out... What else are we waiting on?
-
I think just Draco heading to the doctor, but I can just PM the results of that. Simple enough. We could skip to the meet if everyone's ready.
-
yeh
-
And then perhaps simply assume that Jimmy vets the new guy in that time? Would work for me.
-
Sounds good.
-
Right, skipped to the casino! I'm assuming Three Star and Marduk are staying in the bar and everyone else jacked in; please inform me if that's incorrect. You've got about 15 minutes before the meet if you want to jerk around the casino first :P.
Umraefein, you can mark Draco as healed to full. I'll PM you the doctor's details later as she's a potential contact.
I'm not sure how contacts usually work in games... does the GM give them out for free and they can be improved later or do you have to buy them from scratch?
-
Can probably play a few hands in 15 VR minutes, eh?
-
Absolutely. Don't think there are any rules for it, though, so just make it up :P.
-
I'm not sure how contacts usually work in games... does the GM give them out for free and they can be improved later or do you have to buy them from scratch?
in game contacts are never bought, they're given by the GM when the gm believes there enough use and reason for them to call on the runner or the runner to call on them more than once, then you increase they're rating through the campaign.
-
Absolutely. Don't think there are any rules for it, though, so just make it up :P.
I could see Con, Judge Intentions, and Logic+Something coming into play... Or should I just roll a Con test, maybe?
-
Hmm... just roll whatever attribute + skill combination suits your play style. Say, CHA+Con to bluff or LOG+Perception to count cards. Or just EDGx2 if you want to rely on pure luck. It's not like you're going to blow all your cash and end up horribly in debt to the Penguin Mafia or anything :P
Also, Draco now has a street doc as a contact. Steelfish is probably your best bet for more contacts at this point in the game, but there will be opportunities for more later!
-
I'm going to assume Tailored Pheromones doesn't apply over VR, but what about Glamour?
-
Hmm... I'd say it does, considering it mentions voice as well as movement. As long as your not using a voice masker or the like.
-
Charisma+Con+First Impression+Glamour: Poker (16d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4014275/)
And now we have a roll.
-
Just because I think it's fun, Tink will use Edge x 2 and use edge.
Gamble check (12d6.hitsopen(5,6)=6) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4014473/)
Speaking of edge, how does that come back in a pbp
-
Well, I'll be refreshing it on a point-per-point as described on p. 74 but we need to agree on what refreshes it completely. A few options would be...
1. Every time an adventure finishes completely.
2. Every in-game day.
3. Every in-game week.
4. Every time a major adventure component is completed.
Any thoughts? It would usually be "every session" which would probably amount to every few hours in game, but I'm not sure.
-
Hey guys. Sorry I've been missing... my computer was down for the count for a couple of days there.
-
Poker game (16d6.hits(5)=3, 16d6.hits(5)=4, 16d6.hits(5)=4, 16d6.hits(5)=5, 16d6.hits(5)=4) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4015864/)
As far as Edge refresh goes... I'd be inclined to go with "adventure component" or in-game day.
-
in game day maybe?
-
I don't really have a preference... I don't have the experience to know the difference...
-
In game day provides a structure we're all away of, but as the pacing of different adventures can change it can start to make things a little inconsistent - which actually has an advantage in that at some times Edge will be freely available and at others it will be stretched pretty thin. Per adventure component keeps the refresh consistent with the pacing, but does lose a certain amount of the possible pressures of the daily method.
-
In that case, I say daily.
-
Hahaha London? Well I'm doomed
-
is it palming to go through someones pockets without being noticed? what do they oppose it with?.........dotheygeta-6penaltyfromvr
huehuehue
-
... See, that's the point of having Marduk there.
-
I really wouldn't do that if I were you. Recall Steelfish mentioned guardian spirits and the not poking thereof...
(This is me hinting that Three Star is going to be devoured by monstrously-high-force air spirits if he does that).
-

you're making this "roleplay my dislike of shark at all times due to the glitch" really hard here heh
also ill keep it noted that your spirits understand pickpocketing
back to doing nothing
what about the critical glitched SOTA roll?
-
I... actually haven't the faintest idea what a critically-glitched knowledge roll does. The Arcology is actually a supercolliding death ray pulse device? Also, nanomachines.
Not really sure how to handle that without making Three Star seem like a total idiot and or super gullible.
-
So Tink wasn't being rude to Three stars, he would have said hey or whatever normal nicities. If he was trying to be rude I would have said so.
-

no prob
-
We've now reached the point where I put a spoiler block within a spoiler block. Infodump GO!
-
Yeah, Jimmy would have at least said something to him on the way in.
-
"Certainly, but as a professional I do have to do my due diligence and account for the possibilities, you understand. So what exactly are the parameters here?"
Still waiting on the NPC to answer this one, by the by - not sure if you noticed the question or not, Retro.
-
I had missed that, thanks!
It's entirely possible someone has figured out which adventure this is by now. If so, you'll notice I've upped the starting reward. This will likely continue; I find the default rates in the premade adventures to be almost insultingly low in most cases.
-

I know which it is, or at least the stroyline its from, but don't own it and its in the part of the metaplot im not up to date on.
-
Again, can't roll yet until Invisible Castle's back up. Jimmy's intentionally staking out a high counter-offer he's willing to come down from, because that's just how negotiations work - you stake out a position you're willing to move from, and try to get an end result closer to your position than to the other guy's. When I can roll, should I add in the +2 bonus for having a "heavy bargaining chip" due to what Tink was able to dig up?
-
Sure, I'd say that's entirely appropriate. I'll delay Johnson's response until IC is back up and I know his roll as well.
-
Rhat, i hope my post is sensical.
How long till Marduk and Three Star have a fight, seriously.
-
Makes sense. Can't believe I forgot to mention "half up front" - if nothing else, it guarantees that they're planning to pay.
-
Makes sense. Can't believe I forgot to mention "half up front" - if nothing else, it guarantees that they're planning to pay.
Yeah, an escrow doesn't hurt either but that's just outside three stars range to suggest himself.

Yeah, an escrow doesn't hurt either but that's just outside three stars range to suggest himself.
Hard to do an escrow if you don't know how much money it's going to be in the end.
-
can they not continue to deposit into an escrow? I'm willing to admit i don't know how they work 100%
-
I'd imagine so, but it seems to over-complicate matters a bit - especially since hiring runners is usually an off-book thing, so that might be too much of a datatrail.
-
We could totally have them fight right now if you want! I'm sure there's a rain-soaked alley somewhere nearby for DRAMATIC BATTLE SEQUENCES :P.
I don't see any reason they couldn't continue to deposit into an escrow, but there's no guarantee they would after the initial amount. Especially not if they're actually planning on betraying you.
EDIT: Also, I just realized we're going to a dilapidated structure and I have a machine gun in a gyro-harness thing. The Aliens references must flow!
-

I'm doing my best to avoid it
-
As it looks like Invisible Castle's going to be down for a while, perhaps we should do rolls through here in the meantime: rolz.org/group
I've opened a lobby titled "Soulless In Seattle". Castle's definitely better, but this will have to do for now.
-
Wow, the default Johnson is BAD at this :P. I'll have to remember that for future adventures. Makes sense, though. Not like de le Mar is going to care about a few thousand nuyen.
For posterity's sake, the original offer in the book is 2,000Y per person per day with none up front and no minimum payment. You can see why I changed that... It also doesn't mention anything about transporting gear but I figured dealing with the intricacies of Shadowrun's transportation security was not the best thing for the first adventure.
-
To be fair, part of it is that Jimmy's very, very good at this. Frankly, if Johnsons were that good, in many cases they wouldn't need to hire a Face.
-
Didn't notice your edit, RHat. I added the relevant information back in after accidentally quoting myself. Again :P.
-
Sorry, thought it was in quickly enough that the post hadn't been read yet.
-
Yeah, the interval for the availability test on that is one week, and the threshold is it's Availability - even if you give Novatna my Negotiation dice pool, with his connection rating making it 24, that's still three weeks to get it.
-
Also, Chrona: You might want to roll Three Star's Street Gangs knowledge on the names Shark just dropped - one's quite a bit higher up than "street", but still.
And we don't really need placeholders - can use the inferior rolling site in the meantime, can't we?
-
Sorry for the delays guys, for some reason I don't always get email alerts.
What can I do with data search? Can I find stuff on blood spirits, what other things make those noises and their weaknesses? How about the gangs in the place we are going?
-
Data Search is exactly what it sounds like: searching for data, either on an individual node or the entire Matrix. You can search for anything, provided it exists on the Matrix at all. The Data Search table is on p. 230 of SR4A, not sure about regular SR4.
Looking-up reliable information on blood spirits, which you can bet the Azzies actively suppress, is a threshold 24 Data Search + Browse test with an interval of 1 minute and each roll at -1. That's assuming you're searching the entire Matrix; it would be much quicker if you broke into some kind of Azzie magical database but that has its own issues...
Gangs would probably be threshold 12 with no roll penalty as it's not exactly common knowledge but nobody's actively hiding it either.
As it looks like Invisible Castle's going to be down for a while, perhaps we should do rolls through here in the meantime: rolz.org/group
I've opened a lobby titled "Soulless In Seattle". Castle's definitely better, but this will have to do for now.
Quoting this in case people missed it. It's an acceptable substitute so we're not twiddling our thumbs until IC comes back up :P.
-
So are you applying the diminishing dice pool optional rule to all extended tests, or just some?
-
I'm not sure which rule you're talking about exactly. Where is it listed?
-
It's under the general Extended Tests header on page 64, SR4A. The whole "-1 each successive roll" thing is an optional rule, not a default one - the standard Extended Test rules assume that given enough time, a competent character will get the job done. If you're applying the cumulative penalty to Data Searches, I'm just wondering if your applying this more generally as well.
-
Oh, I wasn't applying that rule. It wasn't a cumulative penalty it's a -1 for the obscurity of the information. Second part of the table.
-
Ah. I got the wrong impression from "each roll at -1", then.
-
Posted an edit.
-
Odd: Just took a quick glance at your sheet, it doesn't look like you have any tools at all. Not sure if you noticed that part of the rules or not when you were building your character, but basically for more build/repair/mod work you need a certain level of tools, without which you suffer from penalties or cannot do the work at all. They're purchased on a per-skill basis, with costs as follows:
TOOLS | AVAIL | COST |
Kit | --- | 500 |
Shop | 8 | 5000 |
Facility | 12 | 100, 000 |
Kits are portable, shops can fit into large vehicles, and facilities are fixed. If you wanted, you could use some of your advance to get an Armorer Shop, in which case Tink could get Shark to do the actual searching and bargaining (AKA, I could do the availability test for you).
-
Sounds good to me, would need 1 shop per skill or one per group?
-
Per skill.
-
I'll but some money into it, would we like a cybertech shop or armor shop? I'll get the other as a kit (which I did some searching and didn't find anything in the book about them (besides negatives for them not being adequate.
-
To my knowledge, Armorer is far more useful than Cybertechnology. I'm not actually sure if it's even possible to build cyberware under the rules as written.
Looking at it again, I actually have no idea how the "building things" rules work at all. I should probably correct that.
EDIT: So I dug through the using technical skills to build rules... they don't seem functional for anything beyond basic junk like improvised weaponry. Mainly because they don't list the cost of raw materials for anything. Suppose you wanted to put an implant together and I determined it was an Exotic (threshold 16) task... there's still no cost for the materials anywhere. Gear modifications at least list both the cost of the mod and the skill to assemble/attach it.
-
Thing is, to do much with Cybertech, you've also gotta have Medicine - and typically, it's best to have a surgical team.
-
Yeah, I found the rules for repairing and maintaining cyberware with it but that still requires Medicine for the implant surgery. There doesn't seem to be any actual way to use it to build things, despite what the skill description says.
-
Oh, that stinks. Makes taking all the making skills seem pointless.
-
Well, Armorer and the various Mechanic skills are still useable for installing mods, at least. But yeah, Cyberware definitely seems like an NPC skill.
-
Nah, you just have to invest some Karma in Medicine if you want to do that kind of thing. I've got a Street Doc contact who could assist, as well. If you've got the skills, you can do pretty well - you just need the right setup.
As for building things, it's doesn't really have explicit rules for building anything. Just the very general case build/repair rules.
-
It would seem to imply that you can only build stuff when the cost is negligible and or you happen to have the parts lying around already. But then in Augmentation it has time periods for growing bioware from cell cultures, so that implies it IS something you could theoretically do. There's just no cost listed for it.
Speaking of street docs, did you have a personality written out for him/her/it? Because if not, you could make it into the same (named and statted) doc that Steelfish introduced Draco to. Just an option, as she may or may not be plot relevant depending on stuff you do or don't do later. Cryptic!
-
From my contacts writeup:
(1, 4)
Holly Abrahms - Street Doc
Uses: Medical care, ‘ware implantation and maintenance, info, hooding jobs
Holly is a skilled surgeon who has taken to working on the street-level after corruption in hospital administration directly caused her to lose patients; she’s something of a bright spot in the local shadows, and Jimmy is protective of her.
Basically, skilled street doc and legitimately a good person, but she doesn't have much of an operation going yet.
-
Ah, I forgot all of that wasn't on your sheet. Which I seem to be the only person updating hint hint :P.
That's actually very similar to the doc Draco was introduced to. Add "is a vampire" and "Adept" as well and they're basically the same character:
Her clinic is out of a plain-looking but well made house in a lower end neighborhood. The city government would say it is "in the process of urban renewal". The Ancients and Bloody Screamers gangs keep trying to move in but the highly-mixed neighborhood keeps banding together to keep them out, with no small assistance from the doctor.
She patched [Draco] up for free and, for the future, prefers to deal in favors ("Go kill this BTL dealer", etc.) rather than cash. Everyone in the area knows she's a vampire and donates blood for her to live off of. If [Draco] assensed her, she's an adept of no small ability and can clearly handle a gun.
Would you mind if I crushed them together into the same NPC? Purely optional, of course, but it might make sense from a story perspective.
Also, Draco! I read through the drake entry again and happened to notice that it says transforming destroys all of your currently-equipped gear. Since we're dealing with bucking magic here already, you can consider that rule ignored :P. Unless you wanted that to happen for some reason.
-
Eh. Might be better to keep them separate for two reasons - first, to expand the game's supporting cast, and second, because I really see her as being about as close to an innocent as you can get in the shadows; doesn't really jive with being a vampire.
-
Sure, makes sense. Supporting cast is appreciated because I'll probably start mixing non-premade adventures in as early as the next mission as I do have parts of the metaplot written already.
If anyone ever has any personal story beats or conflicts they'd specifically like to see at some point, please feel free to PM them to me! I'll work it in to the story if I can and, if not, you could always convince the rest of the team to deal with it.
-
I cant legitimately interject IC with this, but if Draco ever hulks out against anything with astral combat at a competent level, especially ghouls, he's probably doomed.
-
Well remember that, as a dual-natured critter, he gets to use Unarmed and Exotic Ranged Weapon instead of Astral Combat.
Also, I posted about a second before you just did so make sure you see my post on the last page. Includes story-related things!
-

Yeah, but physically they have their human stats on the astral when they hulk out, ghouls are allways at their peak
Also, I posted about a second before you just did so make sure you see my post on the last page. Includes story-related things!
The forum tells you if that happens
-
True, but they can't not astrally-perceive. So you can get spirits to gank them from the astral while they're sleeping.
-

Draco has the same weakness and I'm only talking about a straight fight, otherwise he wouldn't have needed to hulk out anyway
-
Three star may not settle down before the end of the scene after this nerves been hit, so ill just say here that he'd need heavy pistol, revolver and assault rifle ammo of the various types we're getting, and im sure he'd pass that onto Shark at some point, but I may not remember by then .
oh and throw in a cyberware toolkit for him to do maintenance while we're over there, it's just fluff wise though.
-
Rules question for that ill fated day a bug spirit is pinning me to the floor, do you allow the red lining cyber limbs optional rule?
-
Yes. I'm rather fond of it, actually :P.
Also related to cyberlimbs, I go by the interpretation that there are 5 full limbs: 2 arms, 2 legs, and torso. The skull counts as a partial limb.
-
Also related to cyberlimbs, I go by the interpretation that there are 5 full limbs: 2 arms, 2 legs, and torso. The skull counts as a partial limb.
thats how i think of it too
-
That's the most common interpretation from what I've seen, but Chummer defaults to 6 limbs so I thought I'd specify.
Also, the answer to your earlier question? "Now".
-
Argue, bitch, and moan all you want; Jimmy does not tolerate starting a fight against a member of your own team.
-
Perfectly reasonable. However, Marduk does not tolerate being shot and is now going to attempt to murder you. Also, he has ExEx loaded not gel.
-
Jimmy has two types of ammo. Gel was his warning shot - and he communicated as much. If Marduk decides he wants to escalate it into a real fight, I'm pretty sure Steelfish and the guardian spirits you mentioned earlier aren't on his side.
-
Spoilers: Those spirits are about to manifest. They're triggered by any act of violence in the private rooms, even just a fistfight. Marduk and Shark probably have a chance to take a shot at each other first, or I could have them show-up now. Any preference?
EDIT: It's powerful enough that Marduk's Astral Hazing won't disperse or even significantly annoy it.
-
They'd probably have begun to manifest by the time Jimmy started firing. However, depending on the specific nature of the service they're charged with, anyone trying to keep the peace might or might not be considered to be on their side...
-
Technically, it's just one. Happens to be Force 20, but still. The exact terms of the task is "Subdue anyone partaking in violence in the private rooms, starting with armed opponents". So it's going to go for Jimmy and Richter first, followed by anyone who doesn't clearly indicate non-hostility.
-
Force 20? Is Steelfish a Dragon? Is our fixer a dragon!?
also im catching up now
I'm rolling out some dice to help me work out what happened to three star as you said i could treat it like a surprise test
I didn't know I needed a lobby to be able to paste the rolls properly, but here i'll just paste it in and label the rolls, it'll be in reverse order of course. To keep it fair i have assumed Marduk's and Three Star's wires are on, it's just to help with the flow of my next post so I didn't think you'd mind me rolling for him, as the result will only effect three star's damage.
Three Star's Resistance against 5S(e) 14D6E5 => 4 | ones: 2
Marduk's Unarmed 11D6E5 => 5 | ones: 1 (This is ridiculously appropriate)
Three Star's Full Dodge 14D6E5 => 5 | ones: 2
Three Star's INI 11D6E5 => 8 | ones: 1
Marduk's INI 11D6E5 => 5 | ones: 2
Three Star's Surprise 11D6E5 => 4 | ones: 2
Marduk's Surprise 11D6E5 => 2 | ones: 2
So Three Star took 1S
-
Spoilers: he's actually Dunkelzahn's ghost possessing Harlequin possessing an ork fixer :P. In truth, he's just a high-grade Initiate. Not "Horror-snapping archmage" powerful but certainly "been doing this a long damn time" powerful.
OOC, is this an issue we can resolve? If not, I could have Marduk walk and bring a replacement char in...
-
OOC, is this an issue we can resolve? If not, I could have Marduk walk and bring a replacement char in...
I'll have to roll a vindictive test after I post but for now Three Star is just so whelmed with that being Marduk's reaction he's unlikely to try anything, if Marduk's going to be able to make the same effort Three Star did after his fuck up, it should be fine.
Thats right. Whelmed.
-
Chrona, he's not actually healing anyone as everyone just took stun damage which you can't heal magically. Someone could use First Aid on everyone if they wanted, though.
Everyone sure they're fine with this? I have other characters I could bring in if you want to stop the Vindictive cycle now.
-
Just consider it aimed at whoever applies first aid then
-

Jimmy's suggested... Well, to be more accurate, he's mandated a solution. He and Marduk will be having a little converstaion when Marduk comes to.
However, perhaps we should make the Vindictive rolls slightly more rare, otherwise just one person with the quality is gonna be too much.
-

Yeah that's why i haven't rolled since the glitch
-
If Marduk comes to. No one seems to be going for first aid on Jimmy/Richter, after all :P
How do you think he's going to react to Jimmy declaring himself de facto lord of the group after having shot him? Hint: not well.
-
I'm somewhat curious as to how that glitch is affected by Jimmy interceding on Three Star's behalf.
Everyone's free to ask why Jimmy's doing that. He has what I think is a very, very good answer.
-
Marduk certainly would be, except he's currently in Happy Firefly Land.
Steelfish is far too important to be expected to apply first aid to anyone :P.
I'll leave it up to Chrona to decide how that affects the Vindictive glitch.
-
I'm somewhat curious as to how that glitch is affected by Jimmy interceding on Three Star's behalf.
We'll see how it goes. Also if a few years after this campaign it would ever be plausible for Jimmy to be hiring a runner team himself, I may one day ask your services as a guest Johnson over in messy Biz.
-
When I get home, I'll make my own First Aid roll, unless odd wants to have Tink do so.
Chrona: Jimmy's basically built two gangs, I want him to build up Holly's clinic, he's got SERIOUS connections with the Vory... It's pretty believable.
-
Tink will wait to see if the elf heals since he's not great at it, if the elf doesn't do anything after say 15 seconds, he'll attempted and here's the roll:
4D6E5 => 0 | ones: 2
-

CRITICAL GLITCH ON FIRST AID.
Oh God. Thank god Jimmy will heal himself first
-
This got left behind because of Marduk's outburst, so thought id mention it here
turning to Draco, "We can get you something you'd be comfortable with, there are a number of revolvers that are the easiest to operate if you are not tech-heavy." Due to their current privacy in the back room he reaches slowly to his ankle holster, pulls out his Taurus-6 and slides it, safety on, over to Draco, "Tell me how that feels in your hands, it's an average size and weight for one."
so Draco still has my revolver in front of him
-
Umrafein: The Taurus is a Light Pistol.
-
I know... but this is a guy who not only dislikes guns, but also has never held one before... You can't really blame him for being a little, if you'll pardon my pun, gun shy.
-
I just wanted to make sure you were doing that intentionally, is all.
-
And, depending on how this conversation turns out, I might actually be able to make use of Jimmy's Leadership skill. :P
-
you can tell his left arm is definitely flesh and blood from the handshake.
-
Should I have Marduk regain consciousness now or did you have any preparations to make first? Trying to prod things along here :P.
-
Figure it'll take an hour of rest for him to heal back the damage, during which time Jimmy's just gonna be using Medicine on himself via the medkit so he can heal faster. We can assume everyone generally clears out in that time, I suppose, and that things generally get discusses vis a vis some sort of plan for who needs what.
Also, it seems Bywhan hasn't logged on in about 12 days. If we still want another person, might not hurt to extend an invitation. (http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php?topic=10634.0)
-
Three Star will leave them to their talk but will likely stay in the bar, when marduk goes to leave just consider him "conveniently" in the bathroom to avoid another interaction so soon
-
9E5 => 2 | die: D6, ones: 3
8E5 => 2 | die: D6, ones: 2
Medicine and Healing rolls. At the very least, I'm no longer dealing with a wound mod.
-
This is the part where The Hero has to earn the grudging respect of the Token Evil Teammate. I could always bring a different character in if things go real badly.
As for our missing member (considering I just noticed your edit, RHat) that may not be a bad idea. I'll leave it up to you guys; do we wait or replace?
-
I'd say replace, just for the sake of time.
-
i agree if there's players going lets take them.
-
Alright then! Shall I attempt to bring Reiper on, as it looks like he's been looking for a forum game, or did you want me to put-out a general call like I did the first time?
-
Whatever works. Since you already know he's looking, Reiper is probably a good bet though.
-
Sent a PM, waiting for a response.
Shark and Marduk should really get Metal Gear Solid achievements for throwing these massive walls of text at each other... :P
-
Are you ok with my playing a Tiger Shifter?
I have one created I just have to tweak a little bit, basically hand to hand combat/infiltration.
Whats the rules on the contacts (doing Cha x 2 or 3 in free contacts, or standard?)
-
I certainly am, can't speak for anyone else though.
It's (CHA + Etiquette)x2 for contacts. Also, everyone receives Steelfish the fixer at 4/1 for free.
-
I had thought that was a PM sorry, haha, but I'll have my character posted in the next few hours.
I'm copying off of one of my other ones, just making a few minor modifications. But if someone has a problem with the shifter just post it and I'll swap to my elven archer/infil or Dryad archer/infil or face (I can adjust her stats pretty easily to fit either role)
-
I dont mind a shifter, its just another character Three Star will have the urge to sell.
-
Posting my char here just for the approval process.
I'll post it to Google Docs as soon as I get home (can't log into google from work)
My character, White Tiger Shifter isn't overly optimized, she's a basically infiltration and unarmed combat, with a 2ndary job at making people pee themselves.
Sobaka (I know, sounds Star Warsish for some reason, but its Russian for Dog.

Minor thoughts, just because I already did the same for pretty much everyone else:
If she's supposed to be an infiltrator, you might want to look at boosting stealth some. Also, that point of Improved Physical Attribute isn't actually doing anything for you (damage rounds on the odd number, so you'd have the same damage at Strength 7. You also gain very little from even-numbered body, so you might want to consider dropping that to 7 (again, damage boxes round on the odd number) as you'll still be able to wear the armour you have. You can also safely pull points from Critical Strike, Elemental Strike (it's good, but really I'd say it's for deeply specialized combat characters; not a great chargen choice for cross-specialists like an infil/unarmed build - and if you do want to keep it Electric isn't typically the best element choice as it's too flashy), and Improved Reflexes (again, I tend to look at the second rank as being just for deeply specialized combatants). Also, kind of find it odd that a tiger wouldn't have ranks in Shadowing, Tracking, and Survival. Really, you might just want to get yourself a rank each of the Athletics and Outdoors groups - if you really need to get some points back, hard-capping magic is pretty often pointless at chargen.
It's all just my perspective, but as it stands, I see a pure combat specialist and not an infil/combat character - which is fine if that's what you want, but that's not my impression of what you're after.
-
Made a few adjustments from Hat's suggestion (character was based off of a higher point build.
I kept electric primarily for quick non-lethal takedowns (although if you have a better suggestion I am completely open, this is my first Adept since 2nd ED).
I dropped intimidation, it worked for the concept but it was a complete waste of points and I couldn't justify it on a 400BP build.
At hat's suggestion, did take my cat skills because it did bother me that I didn't have them.

Tiger form: Large tiger, green eyes, white tiger.
Human form: She is a tall woman with piercing green eyes. She is all lean muscle.
== Background ==
Vera was born in Yakut area in Russia. Her parents were both part of the forces that took the area in 2031. Her father disowned her for being albino, so she grew up only with the guidance of her mother and her instincts. She spent much of her early life attempting to gain her father's acceptance, this drive made her a world class hunter. Even though she rose above the skills of her peers, her father still shunned her.
When she was 17, 30 poachers entered her families territory, hunting the shifters that lived there. Her family pleaded to the nearby metahuman town for help, but they turned their back on those that had helped them take the Yakut decades before. So the shifters living in the area joined together and fought back. In the end of the long campaign, 3 of the poachers, all dwarves, escaped with their lives. But at the cost of 15 of the shifter's lives, including her mother and brother. Distrought over the loss of much of his family, her father finally attempted to make ammends for his treatment of her. Vera just stood silent as her father pleaded forgivness only to turn away and leave him and her birthplace behind. She spent the next few years attempting to get away from her past, attempting to integrate into metahuman society even though she didn't belong. She would find odd jobs hunting and trading with the meta's to live like a meta, but she never fit in.
One day while hunting in the forrests alone, she heard gunshots and a scream. Vera rushed to where the shots came from to find a woman bent over a bloodied lynx, attempting to heal it. Then she heard a familiar voice telling her to back away from his kill, the voice of one of poaches that took her family from her. Enraged, Vera attacked the dwarf from the shadows, ripping his hands off of his body and and one leg below the knee. She batted him around for an hour like a rag doll as he screamed in pain before finally succumbing to his wounds. After the dwarf took its last breath she turned to the human that had been watching her the entire time as she sewed up the lynx's wounds. Vera stalked towards her and the woman's face paled with fear. Vera shifted to human form to try to calm her down, and helped with the hurt animal. After the lynx's wounds were taken care of, she let it go into the forrest, and she invited Vera to come with her to her clinic in Moscow. There, Sarah, the vet, taught her English and helped her become more accustomed to being in the metahuman world.
Years later, Sarah had to move to Seattle, bringing Vera with her.

As a house rule I forgot to mention, we're not keeping track of individual bullets. Just note what kinds you usually carry and where they're loaded as well as what kinds you keep in reserve for special circumstances. You'll still be reloading of course, I just want to avoid the busywork of individual ammo purchases.
It's not much but it should free up a bit of extra nuyen.
-
Today's fun fact: "Celedyr" autocorrects to "celery".
Also, I'm not quite sure how to play Slither. How did you see her personality/capabilities?
-
Well, when I designed her, she was supposed to be this mystery woman with a huge network of contacts, sort of a spider of sorts, with her net covering all sorts of things, and some unknown reason to want to help me. I also figured to have the relationship as sort of like Garcia and Morgan from Criminal Minds. Sort of friendly flirting, with some kind of undertone...
-
Ah, ok. I can see that. So a fundamentally benevolent relationship, even if Draco doesn't quite know why.
-
Exactly!
-
Ok, Invisible Castle seems to be back up now. Just in case anyone hadn't noticed.
-
Jimmy's basic impression of what Richter just said: "Aw, he thinks being irrational makes him harder to deal with. That's adorable." :P
-
Richter would absolutely shoot him if that spirit wasn't hovering around. Several times. :P Hell, he might still do it anyway.
I'm sorely tempted to just have him walk at this point, considering Jimmy has replaced Three Star on his "induced lead poisoning" list. Simple cooperation, let alone following orders, seems highly unlikely at this point. At very least he'd take every opportunity to shoot Shark in the back.
Any thoughts? I'd probably replace him with one of my other characters, an augmented adept who refuses to use anything except melee. Less insane than Marduk, super (pseudo-)philosophical, and with a much stronger code of ethics. Not necessarily nice, though. Think a Predator with a philosophy degree.
-
Your call. At this point, Jimmy's a bit hesitant to work with him because of his "I'm the biggest gun around" attitude, since that's, you know, wildly inaccurate... I like the team setup in a lot of ways, but if you can't make it work in character...
On a side-note, though - 8 hits on a Leadership roll SHOULD make a damn strong impression in some fashion. I'd like to at least play this out and see where it goes, because I'm not near done with what it is that Jimmy's got to say.
-
Oh, it has made a strong impression. He really wants to murder him now. He's considering it despite it being almost certain death.
Richter doesn't really care about being "professional". He's purely a mercenary; if he could hijack a Thor Shot and drop it on the arcology, he'd do it and call it "unavoidable damage to the arcology grounds". Jimmy's incessant categorization of everyone into "fish" and the like and his "Well I can't hurt you but my friends..." attitude makes him seem weak and therefore not worthy of respect in Marduk's eyes. Maybe they could work something out but he's never going to accept what he sees as a subordinate role to someone he could kill. Really, what bothers him is Jimmy interfered in "settling business" and escalated by bringing a gun to a fist fight.
If he left (and lived), I'd probably have him show-up as an NPC if you pissed-off Ares. So that would be fun for everyone...
-
He never said he can't hurt Marduk - in truth, and Marduk should be smart enough to know this without being told, it's solely a matter of who gets the drop on whom; it'll come down to that between pretty much anyone (Surprise, so no defense; called shot for +4 DV, first shot deals around 15P damage and the second around 13.33, make that 11.67 and 10 damage after soak... Marduk's not surviving that). The difference is that Jimmy has ways to kill him and avoid any consequence, and that while neither of them is the biggest gun in town Jimmy's the one with the resources to be able to fight above his weight class, so to speak. Marduk, on the other hand, would have his life collapse and then die - which he doesn't seem to realize the full extent of.
As for the whole "fish" thing, I think this is the first time he's actually used the term out loud - Marduk probably doesn't even know what he means by that.
At the end of the day, though, he should at least be able to recognize that he's probably better off following along with the ridiculously connected guy that can get him the things he wants, can get his contacts to try to find what he came to Seattle for, and who can massively increase the amount that they get paid. And that he clearly has his own rules about "settling business" - if Marduk refused to work with anyone who didn't follow his ways of dealing with such issues, he'd never work with anyone.
-
He called Draco that and explained what he meant by it, though I think Marduk was unconscious at the time. So we're both technically wrong :P.
You're missing basically the foundation of his entire personality - he knows there would be consequences. He just doesn't care. He has no life to destroy and, frankly, would probably welcome death as long as he got to go out in a blaze of fire and lead and took a whole bunch of Vory thugs with him. He's perfectly cognizant that Jimmy's connections could be amazingly useful to him but he just doesn't like Jimmy. He thinks he's a pompous ass who needs to be taken down a few pegs. Not that there's too much evidence to support that but, again, the whole irrational thing. There's his missing daughter but he doesn't really believe the lead is good and Jimmy has no idea about that anyway.
So they both have their own rules but you're just assuming Jimmy's take precedence and Marduk is totally OK with that. He's not. He's used to working with a corporate structure that only bothered calling him in when they needed massive damage inflicted. His extent of "subtlety" is "use a silenced pistol instead of an LMG". Basically, Jimmy lives and operates in a very black trenchcoat world and Richter's is very pink mohawk. He's simply not going to shut up and play by Jimmy's rules and if that's what you're holding out for, tell me now so I can have him walk and resolve this. If not, how do you see this ending?
-
Not what I'm after, no. Just looking for an understaning that keeps everything working - because it's rather obvious that he needs SOMETHING to tenper him. He's not trying to install a proper chain of command, or anything - just enough ground rules so that they can work together. He doesn't have to LIKE Three Star, he just has to not attack him and actually work woth him.
-
Oh, why didn't you say so! He actually considers his feud with Three Star settled, even if it wasn't to his satisfaction. Had Jimmy not shot him he'd have gone back to productive mode by now. Basically, his sole issue is with Jimmy's handling of the situation. Not just shooting him but the whole "I am so much more professional and connected than you so shut up" act :P.
-
Ah. See, this was kicking on down to about plan D.
Of course, it's at least not Plan M - Hardis- erm, Tink dies in Plan M! :P

btw sorry for my absense on Friday and today, had some personal things come up.
Will post my final version of the character tomorrow and see on how to get her worked into the game.
-
Sounds good. Do we want to pretend the other character was never introduced since he basically only had one line?
-
Probably easiest.

Ok Sobakah, sorry for the delay in me getting in, been really busy
-
Looks good, but you seem to have shifted away from an infiltrator and more towards a pure combat character. 1 Perception is probably going to end up hurting you sooner rather than later. 4 in Assensing but only 3 in Infiltration is strange for an infiltrator; I'd swap them. Also, since you seem to be more combat-focused now not less, you should probably keep Improved Reflexes at 2.
Or I might have no idea what I'm talking about! It's your character and that's simply advice :P.
-
I do get the same impression - infil specialists need more than just the skill.
-
I do get the same impression - infil specialists need more than just the skill.
I didn't have the points to make it work out as effectively as I wanted, so I'm primarily combat right now. The perception I'm relying fairly heavily on my bonuses to it (imp hearing/smell) which isn't ideal but its what I have to work with.
-
One thing you could do is switch Improved Reflexes for Rush, downgrade Critical Strike by 2, and eliminate Elemental Strike (especially since you really don't at all need it for what you chose it for), freeing up around 2.5 points.
-
Good suggestions, but I'd advise against swapping IR for Rush. Sure it's cheaper but you'd be limited to 2 IP without drugs and you'd take drain every single turn you wanted to use the second one. That's before you act so you don't get to wait and see if you need it. Also, it's not covered by the Warrior's Way discount so your advancement potential would be more limited.
You can move stuff around if you like or just declare it done and I'll have Steelfish introduce you IC. Your call.
-
The usefulness of Rush certainly depends on how often you expect to need/want the second pass.
-
Exactly. I'd argue that pretty much everyone needs a second pass and only pure combatants need a third. Nobody really needs a fourth but if you're a Warrior's Way adept with a Geas anyway it's worth picking up for the REA bonus alone.
-
I'm going to do a quick rebuild tonight and take some of your suggestions into account.
BTW I don't have the book Rush is in, whats it do?
-
It's from War! and costs 0.5 points. If activated at the beginning of your turn, you get +1 initiative pass. However, you have to resist physical drain equal to twice the total number of IPs you have. So it's basically cheaper Improved Reflexes 1 that causes drain whenever you actually use it.
-
Meanwhile, you've got about 10 dice for resistance. Meaning you'll probably take some damage when you use it, but you can expect to resist most of it. And if you get IR later, you can stack the two.
Basically it's a way of shifting the cost for the extra pass.
-
Right, so, if people can give me a list of gear that they need to get ahold of so I can make the necessary rolls...
Reiper: Advance from the job is 15000 nuyen; if you want we can assume my character's already contacted yours.
-
Three star may not settle down before the end of the scene after this nerves been hit, so ill just say here that he'd need heavy pistol, revolver and assault rifle ammo of the various types we're getting, and im sure he'd pass that onto Shark at some point, but I may not remember by then .
oh and throw in a cyberware toolkit for him to do maintenance while we're over there, it's just fluff wise though.
then theres those rifles e suggested IC
-
btw is this a heavy combat or more infil type game? Will help a lot on the redesign (will have her posted as soon as I get home tonight)
It looks like I'm going to have to buy way of the adept, but anyone have the rules for swift and terrible?
Trying to redo my last .75 of my powers
-
Cost 0.5 per level and restricted to Warrior's Way adepts only. You get +1 to Initiative for the next round for every enemy "beaten" in melee combat in a round. It's only for the next round, though, and limited to your levels in the power. So it's basically worthless. Also super vague as it doesn't define "beaten".
I have no idea what kind of game it's going to be. That's totally up to how you guys handle things :P.
-
Alright, folks, let me know what I need to make Availability rolls for.
-
Just as a notice, nobody ever has to make actual availability rolls for ammunition - excepting truly exotic stuff like Deathdealer rounds and mortar shells. Basically, anything grenades and under in cost/power I'm assuming dedicated runners have fairly free access to unless they end up in the middle of nowhere or are being actively shunned by every dealer in the city.
As for Marduk... he needs the gauss rifle and mod parts, though it'll take Jimmy probably even later then we get back to acquire them. The rifle itself is 24F/13000, external smartgun is 4R/400, chameleon coating is 10R/1000, improved rangefinder is 6/1000, and powered breakdown is 10R/13200. Most of that's pretty simple to get (except the rifle itself) and Tink can install all of it except the breakdown with at least an armorer shop. The last mod requires an industrial mechanic facility, though, which I don't think he's willing to spring for so I'll have to pay an NPC to handle it.
-
Some Availability tests:
Availability 8 test: Armourer Shop, interval 2 days (19d6.hits(5)=6, 19d6.hits(5)=2, 19d6.hits(5)=6) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4030945/)
Availability 9R test: Jianshi QBZ-14, interval 2 days (19d6.hits(5)=4, 19d6.hits(5)=6, 19d6.hits(5)=7) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4030952/)
Availability n test: Firearm of umrafein's choice, interval 1 or 2 days depending on cost of weapon (19d6.hits(5)=7, 19d6.hits(5)=4, 19d6.hits(5)=7) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4030954/)
That should get us going - I'll have contacts look into the gauss rifle.
-
Just making sure everyone's still here!
Reiper, are you still interested? We still don't have your redesigned character.
-
I'm here
-
Still here. My pick for Draco'd probably be a Colt America.
-
Im alive just waiting for the next scene
-
Hence my trying to get us forward to the job - this whole segment has naturally tended to spotlight my character, which I see as more than a little unfair and I'd like to get us forward to where everyone else gets to show off, and am thus wanting to gloss over the networking and such for now.
-
I'm sorry guys, I'm not going to be able to actually do this.
I'be been working 14 hour days for the past 2 weeks and its not looking like my schedule is actually going to let up anytime soon. Normally getting in posts from work isn't a problem but I have almost no freetime anymore.
Sorry about that.
-
Regarding the delay: We seem to have another new player on the line, that's just all operating through PM's right now.
-
Also, GM question: How do you rule that High-Powered Chambering works? Are different High-Powered ammo types available (IE, HP-EX-Ex, HP-APDS, that sort of thing), and is the penalty reduced by recoil compensation?
-
Yes and yes - I see no reason there should be a modification that exists only to give you worse Ex rounds.
-
Hm... Cavalier Sheriff with Underbarrel Weight, Personalized Grip, and an Ammo Skip System... Would that be compatible to Increased Cylinder (which technically specifies an ammo capacity of 6)?
-
I'd say it's a flat +2 capacity increase regardless.
-
Trying to plan out all the mods here... How would the HP recoil work? If it's modded for SA firing...
Possibility | First Shot | Second Shot |
1 | 0 | -3 |
2 | -2 | -3 |
3 | -2 | -5 |
Trying to figure out how much RC to get, and whether SA would be practical.
-
One way i did it once on a revolver, i honestly cant remember how well it went though so youd need to experiment and ask retro if he allows this, was an under barrel version of the same gun. i then put hi power chambering on just one and put all the rest of its slots into RC and other stuff into the others remaining slots.
-
I'm thinking Firing Selection, Personalized Grip, Powered Folding Stock, Underbarrel Weight, and Increased Cylinder might be the way to go - RC3, so even with Possibility 3 that's only a -2 penalty for the second shot, which with this thing's damage code wouldn't be so bad - and what's especially important here: all of that save the Increased Cylinder requires only a Kit or Shop; Personalized Grip does require Artisan, though, so those two might need to be done through contacts.
-
Forgive my ignorance of the mechanics in question, but why would there be differing amounts of recoil? I can think of it being doubled if uncompensated but not anything else... It's quite likely I'm missing something, though.
-
HP rounds have an extra -2 due to excess recoil. I'm seeking a ruling as to if that's applied to the second shot only as per standard recoil rules (0, -3), applied to the first with a further -1 on the second due to standard recoil (-2, -3), or to the first and the second along with the normal -1 to the second (-2, -5).
-
Ah, OK! I'd say the second... that seems to be what they were going for with "due to excessive recoil" and stops it from being a total no-brainer.
-
And is possible to handle with the right modifications, just costs a good few slots. And is probably a good deal less practical for automatic fire - it makes for a pretty slick hand cannon when you need to deal with spirits and vehicles, though.
-
Hiyo!
Just call me Misty and I've talked with Retro and RHat and I'm going to be sliding in here pretty soon. :)
It was suggested an infiltrator would round out the group nicely, as it's already rather combat heavy, so I sat down with Hero Lab and out popped Sonir! If you have any character critiques/suggestions please don't hesitate to provide them now! :D
Also, this will be my first PBP. I'm brand new to this and to Invisible Castle so a bit of this I will be learning as I go. Below is the PDF for my character.
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?4fevpdm9kdkk7zw
Well met! ;D
-
Hey guys.
Sorry for disappearing. Cross country drive took me out of operating for a while. Back now though!
-
And, for my new gun.
Avail test (Cavalier Sheriff), interval 1 day, threshold 7. (19d6.hits(5)=6, 19d6.hits(5)=2, 19d6.hits(5)=9) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4042247/)
I'll just buy hits for the following mods: Personalized Grip, Firing Selection Change (Small Mod), Increased Cylinder (If Retro will let odd make the rolls with the penalty for insufficient tools, as it usually needs a facility), Underbarrel Weight, Powered Folding Stock, and anything else people want for mods.
Which means we need odd to make some modification rolls!
-
Sure, that makes sense. Go ahead with insufficient tools penalty.
-
Sorry for the delay. Here's my roll with the -2. I'm not sure if it's extended, if it is I'll roll more:
Armorer check (12d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4047614/)
-
Build/Repair checks are extended, yes. For the Sheriff mods, you're looking at:
- Firing Selection Change; Threshold 10
- Powered Folding Stock; 8
- Increased Cylinder; 10; this is the one where you're taking the Insufficient Tools penalty, the others are as normal
- Underbarrel Weight; 6; for this one you're actually one step UP from the minimum required tools
The Personalized Grip requires Artisan, so I'll have to get that one done by contacts.
And if Chrona wants mods done for Three-Star's new rifle, he should probably bring that up.
-
Will the time be an issue? If so which ones do you want first?
-
In general, you're looking at 2 hour intervals, so you should be fine.
For reference, this thing is basically a semi-automatic, pistol sized railgun that can be fired with little recoil interference. If you want to add some description to the mods and somehow put his signature on it, I say go for it.
-
That's certainly a good RP opportunity. Considering Tink will most likely be customizing several weapons over the course of his career, you'd have a great opportunity to develop an ongoing "style" for his work. A good idea might be to describe what jury-rigged tools he's using for the cylinder mod in place of a facility.
-
Here we go. I rolled 5 times for each because that should be enough to get there, figure just stop when I get enough.
Firing Selection Change; Threshold 10 (14d6.hits(5)=3, 14d6.hits(5)=4, 14d6.hits(5)=6, 14d6.hits(5)=6, 14d6.hits(5)=4) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4048241/) (3 tries)
Powered Folding Stock; 8 (14d6.hits(5)=7, 14d6.hits(5)=9, 14d6.hits(5)=4, 14d6.hits(5)=4, 14d6.hits(5)=6) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4048242/) (2 tries)
Increased Cylinder; 10; (12d6.hits(5)=3, 12d6.hits(5)=4, 12d6.hits(5)=2, 12d6.hits(5)=4, 12d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4048243/) (4 tries)
Underbarrel Weight; 6; (14d6.hits(5)=1, 14d6.hits(5)=7, 14d6.hits(5)=3, 14d6.hits(5)=5, 14d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4048245/) (2 tries)
His symbol will be an 8-bit looking sword with "Tink.<number of creation here>" written down the blade. The number scheme will us Pi, and will be in the order where it doesn't repeat. So for the first few:
3, 1, 4, 15, etc.
The fourth is 15 since 1 was already used. He will also make items look as blocky as possible without changing the function.
-
Should I worry about rolls for getting the Personalized Grip done through contacts?
-
Teeeestttiinnggg - Ignore this ;)
RHat - amidoinitrite? :o

Looks right.
-
*chomps at the bit* ;D
I want to plaaaaaaaay.
-
Right, in an effort to speed things along I'm just going to say you have enough time to do your basic purchases/modifications and call it done.
Mystalya, would you be opposed to having Steelfish bring your character in because of "recent information that may change the parameters of the contract"? Basically, the Johnson just learned something that made him decide the team would need your skills and Steelfish called you up at the last minute. Sound OK?

Sounds good to me. Everyone was already at Steelfish's getting ammo anyway correct? She can just poof from the shadows. She''s good at that. ;D
-
Technically, they went their separate ways for the time being to craft/go shopping/whatever. I was thinking more along the lines of "By the way, you've got a new member of the team. She's at the plane waiting for you all right now". I'd just assume she had a chance to do some shopping as well even if it wasn't "on screen", if you like.

That sounds fine. She might ask for a small debriefing from Jimmy regarding what's up but other than that sounds golden to me. ^_^)b
My character sheet is on the page before in one in case no one caught it! Btw - off topic - do you guys see those dots going across it? Not sure if it's only on my side or if it's mediafire. o.O
-
My vote is... Skip to the hanger!
-
I'm all for moving things along and jumping back in!
-
I'm OK with skipping
-
skippity skip
-
Quick question - so I used to do a lot of text based roleplaying and as a result I tend to lump a lot of little actions into my text. For small things like looking around my immediate area do I need to roll perception or where is the line drawn on that?
-
Nope. Perception is for when there's something actively hidden or otherwise too subtle to notice. You certainly can roll it whenever you want to look for such things but I'll also call for perception rolls to let you notice ambushes and such. And sometimes for no reason at all, just to keep you on your toes :P.
-
Would she need to contact Steelfish about the payment bit or...how should that work?
-
I'd assume that was handled already when he brought her in. I mean, no Johnson is going to get away with sticking someone on a team at the last minute and then expecting THEM to pay her :P.
-
Cool. We can just have some money magically wire transfer into her acct. ^_^)b
-
Did you want me to have him respond, or were you two going to retcon your last posts?
-
I fixed it. ;D I'm assuming Jimmy was successful in reaching Steelfish. Don't want to hold the game up if I don't have to.
-
I'm really trying not to say too much bullshit, but i live in a port city in England, and the racism is everywhere.
-
It's a totally valid concern. Who knows how intolerant people will react to human "mutts". Sonir is definitely a half Japanese mutt lol.
-
Sooo... ;D
How we all doin? lol.

Looks like Retro's been offline for a few days...

Indeed! I mean I can add more filler but I dunno...
He may just be busy or maybe something came up?

Ditto. I was really enjoying the game thus far. The text file for the mission Retro wrote was awesome. ;D
