I am planning on a trip out to the west coast in a couple of months and I have been toying with the idea of taking pictures of certain locations, with the express purpose of Shadowrun-ification of them (via 3D programs and Photoshop).
For instance, I am planning on Devil’s Tower because I wrote about it for Shadows of North America. Salt Lake City, so I can finally finish up my SR Guide to SLC. Seattle is going to be one of my destinations and obviously there are a host of locations to take photos of there. One or two of the aircraft boneyards in Arizona, just because they would be cool places for part of a run to take place at.
What I could use from you, is there any particularly cool locations/landmarks that you would like to see Shadowrun-ified?
I am willing to travel off the beaten path for the purpose of just one more great picture!
Perhaps it would be useful to specify that I will not cross the border into Mexico and considering the treatment by the Canadian border patrol...probably not into their country either.

Alcatraz.
-
Excellent location, especially as I was a fan of the short lived series!
-
Las Vegas. If you can't put a shadowrun there, you shouldn't be playing the game :)
-
Amarillo, Texas. It's not huge in the game at the moment, but I'm working on it.
-
I think Vegas is a must hit city! There are some great venues that you can get up high to photograph from at night! Taking my tripod and remote control so I can do long exposures at night.
Amarillo...hmmm. If you have any specific locations/vistas that might be useful would you fire off a PM with what they might be. If a new NDA is needed just let me know.
The boneyards in Arizona give me something to do through that state, although I am always open to others, on the way to Amarillo. However, it seems a waste not to hit some places in New Mexico...right?

Boise - Three-nation city in Shadowrun, but never hear anything about it.
Alaska - Because sometimes it is nice to go out in the snow.
San Diego - Azzie corp town, slightly less headaches than Tenochtilan
-
Boise and San Diego are certainly doable...as well as deserving! Not sure about Alaska though...depends on when I get to Seattle...this is a driving trip. Keep them coming though! ;D

I noticed that they put the Pike Place Market exterior in SR Returns. It might be interesting to see the interior in Shadowrun, especially the shops down below and what kind of shops there are in there are in the 2070's.
It'd be great to see Enumclaw, WA in SR, as me and my friends all grew up around there. It's an interesting place also in that it's quite near the NAN border in SR, right at the edge of the Cascade foothills.
I'd love to see the Maple Valley Highway, which runs between Renton and Maple Valley, WA. It'd be especially cool if the Blood Mountain Boys were in the picture, which are a go gang mentioned in the Seattle guides that terrorize that stretch of road.

Renton's a pretty boring place, but it might be interesting to see due to all the mentions of metahuman hate in the books.
Spokane, Wenatchee, Lake Chelan. Some of the NAN area in eastern Washington might be interesting to see. I can't remember seeing any of that area, except the images in the Genesis game.

Thanks for those locations GiraffeShaman! Seattle is going to require a fair amount of time. :)

Don't kill yourself going to all these (Although it does sound like fun)
Harbor Island would probaly be very good as it's a nice setting for shadowruns. I use it in my games all the time. Same with some of the terminals further south of the main waterfront.
What some call the "Darth Vader" building. You'll know it when you see it.
Hmm, just stumbled on this news story. How about a picture of thieves stealing copper from the link light rail?

The floating bridges that carry I-90 and I-520 across Lake Washington to the Eastside.
The tunnel that you take from I-5 to go east on 520 and across Lake Washington. It's this weird and striking light yellow color. I think this tunnel would make a nice confined battle scene.
Mt. St Helens and the Ape Caves. This is in NAN lands and probaly is crawling with NAN shamans, especially in the lava tube that is the Ape Caves.
Snoqualmie falls. That entire road up to Snoqualmie has some great waterfalls to view as well.

Port Townsend has some good views, but is way out of the way, across the Sound by ferry.
It'll probaly be a good time of the year for views of Mt. Ranier.
Try riding the link light rail from Tacoma up to North Seattle. You'll see some areas you might not get a good look at otherwise from normal roads, including some run down areas.
If you want some Barrens flavor, perhaps try the Morrison.

Ranier Beach in Renton is pretty run down too. Please be careful though.

Like I said, Seattle is going to take some time but my schedule is flexible. The important thing is to get the shots while I am there. :D

If you hit San fran for Alcatraz, china town,(big toruble in little china being an awesome movie) the red woods past the golden gate in Marin,(the right lighting/fog makes them creepy) um the Golden Gate.(assuming its not destroyed in the last earthquake or whatever, never really followed cal free.)
-
Come to Oregon. I need another warm body to visit Crater Lake with, and then we can go to Portland and photograph the bridges to show why it would be a security nightmare without the Peace Force's pre-revolution magical capabilities.
-
China Town is a great idea! Red Woods and the Golden Gate, check and double check. :)
I am planning on hitting Oregon, Crater Lake is on the agenda along with Portland! Always up for a guide on my mis-adventures. ;D
Some of the other locations I am gunning for, Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. Redwood National Park, Death Valley National Park, Denver, Crater of the Moon National Park, Cheyenne, Columbia Gorge, Bandon Beach.
-
For some NAN fun you might want to hit these places on the drive, I always dug them.

There is one more national park I really liked in the south west but its names eludes me, it also requires a bit more hiking to get to the good spots.

Oh, I don't know about a guide. I've spent most of the last year dealing with classwork, but I'm sure I can find some. But, yeah. If nothing else we could have adventures.
And if you do go to Seattle, maybe that'll be my excuse to finally head up there, too.
I wish I could think of some places in New Mexico, but I think I'm so used to it that I'm drawing a blank. White Sands? The falls and caves on the eastern face of the Sandias where Celedyr was doing his thing before "things" were moved. Uh ... The Taos Gorge (Bridge)? If I were there I could've introduce you to some actual Indians. I have a friend who's an ATC at ABQ/Kirtland AFB. :/

The Shadowrun Trek is beginning to take on epic proportions...I like it!!!
A coast to coast run...well almost...might have to drive over to NYC to start the journey properly!
:)
