Title: So how is Karma done in 5e?
Post by: Sipowitz on <06-19-13/1245:14>
As the title says, any information on how Karma is calculated?

Inquiring minds, at least me, would like to know.

Karma has changed very little, if at all, since 4th. I actually can't think of any differences.

so attributes still way to cheap compared to skills, good to know the imbalance between the 2 remain.

Do we know that for sure, or is that possibly just during character creation?

YOu cannot buy Power Points after character creation, as a note.  From there you only get one when you raise your magic, or you can take one instead of a Metamagic ability when you initiate.

That's going to make life expensive Karma wise for Mystic Adepts.

I think its the same for Adepts and mages.  So mystic adepts just come off as mages+adepts put into one for the cost of being a mage.

How does this work with Mystic Adepts?  Do they get new PP for free like Adepts or not at all like Magicians, forcing them to do it with Metamagic?

Actually I meant for doing missions/quests/storylines/whatnot.

I.E. Mission to save the Mayor's daughter from Dastardly Dave Davidson.  How is Karma calculated/given out?

iirc from preview 3(?) Mystic Adepts have to buy their PP with the 25 spare Karma at creation. If' Bull isn't missing out something specific for Mystic Adepts when he says you can't buy PP after creation (and you getting them when you increase magic etc), I assume Mystic Adepts start functioning the same as Adepts (who get free PP = to Magic at creation) once creation is over. Either that or a Mystic Adept can't increase PP after creation, which seems a bit.... poo.

And Bull seems pretty infallible to me.  ;)

They can definitely increase PP after creation, using Metamagic.  The question is whether or not they can do it via raising Magic as well.
