Title: Ring of Fire, Anyone?
Post by: Catadmin on <11-01-10/1430:51>
It's the wrong year, but apparently RL is mirroring SR metaplot yet again.

Anybody else checking into spending the week before Christmas in Japan next year?

Heh... This thread just made me open up Sixth World Almanac for a quick peek.

Québec apparently seceded from Canada yesterday. (http://www2.macleans.ca/2010/10/15/duceppe-tells-u-s-that-quebec-independence-is-inevitable/) (Not really, but it's still an option...)

Ha! I haven't even checked the Almanac, but I know we missed quite a few landmarks. At least we missed VITAS, though some can be forgiven for thinking SARS was it. @=)

I think we're about due for some pointy-eared babies, aren't we?

January 13th. Mark the calendars, especially those of you who know someone that's expecting!

"I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns, the ring of fire
The ring of fire"

Interesting times.

On the horizon? My laptop, Iphone, Ipad and Oakley O-Rokr (shades with headphones) are all bluetooth compatible. Let me say that again, a personal Internet appliance which also receives phone calls talk to sunglasses.  Free Wifi is the battle cry of everyone from Starbucks to McDonald's, not that it matters since 4G is creating a truly wide area wireless broadband. So tether your Ipod to your cyberdeck, turn on the tunes in your shades, sit behind the Stuffer Shack and get cracking.

Is it too much to ask for wireless earbuds? Really???

I've seen bluetooth headphones that are nothing more than earbuds with a headband between them to hold the electronics. Or you could wear two bluetooth cell phone headsets, but then you might get mistaken for a Cyberman.

Yeah, I've seen what happens in that situation. Things get messy. Especially if you pause in the middle of the street with a blank look on your face.

<shudder>

The bluetooth on my smartphone already refers to itself as a PAN on the display when it syncs up with my wifi and laptop. Seems 4th Edition matrix is gonna come much sooner than we thought it would.

Oh, Cash is on my playlist throughout the year. From Cry, Cry, Cry to God's Gonna Cut You Down. The WTH was all the bird/fish deaths happening. ;)

They added the Wireless Matrix to SR4 because it had already arrived IRL. Now we just need to up the bandwidth a little...

And the coverage. Too many places IRL can't get access.
