Hoi Chummers. I've decided on the team for our game. Please post your final character stats in this thread. We'll get started as soon as everyone's character is up.
Dragonslayer: Sam Mercer - Mage
Shrike Alvaron: Shrike - Face/Decker
Panzergeist: Mattoon - Street Sam/Edge
Syrinx - Aerik Balckthorne - Street Sam/Medic
Boer_Kommando: Hellbilly - Wheelman
Please add a contact to all of your lists for free. "Joker" is a fixer (C2/L1). Joker never appears in person, but prefers to stay out of the limelight, communicating with you via commlink at all times. Joker usually leaves a video message as an animated jester outlined in neon red that makes quick erratic movements, just imagine Max Headroom. I will provide each of you with an introduction to Joker through one of your current contacts, once final sheets are up.
General game processes:
Hey everyone, so just some general info for how the game will be ran.
- No need to use dice rolling websites. I'm going to trust that we're all adults and will be honest. After all, glitches and such make the game more interesting. For rolls, just post what skill you're using with the number of dice in parenthesis, number of hits, and if any glitches occur (e.g., Negotiation (9) - 4 hits, glitch).
- Feel free to use any color scheme/process for indicating talking, matrix, thoughts, actions, astral. I'm not attached to any one mode. Mine is in my signature for reference.
- I'll prompt you if I think that a roll should take place that you haven't taken care of. Other than that, I give you all freedom to use your common sense when deciding to use rolls. I will also be making rolls behind the scenes, which I may or may not tell you about based on the outcomes (e.g., perception rolls for things your character might notice, knowledge rolls I think are relevant that might not occur to you)
- I will include maps and graphics if they are relevant in IC posts. If you would like specific diagrams, just let me know and I'll see what I can do.
- Above all else. Have fun everyone!
-
Glad to have been chosen! The only face and decker I see... Seems like pretty important roles to leave to a first timer, eheh. I'll do my best, someone just tell me if I'm doing anything wrong and don't be afraid to give general advice. Do you want me to roll for my own starting money or will you do that? In fact, how will you handle rolling?
Runner Name: Shrike
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Metatype: Elf
It's been a few years now since Shrike's life was thrown in a hole. He used to be a security spider with some fairly major corporation, though he won't say which or even where and prefers that no one asks. That was until he just happened to be framed. He found something during his job, something big the corp didn't want out. Yet Shrike got too curious and looked anyway, next thing he knew he found 1mil nuyen sitting in his account and an extremely blatant trail saying he had stolen it from his own corp.
They were fast to act, putting a warrant on his SIN and sending Shrike on the run. He managed to hold on to some of the money before his bank account was locked, turning his framed crime into a real one. Yet, without the knowledge of how to live in the shadows he was left hiding and wandering the streets. Then he met Zack, a fixer who “relieved” Shrike of what money he had held onto and gave him a new life. A fake SIN to move around with; new eyes, arms, face, and even voice to hide his previous identity; a run down apartment he himself could barely find at times; and a new Cyberdeck to get work. Now he's like anyone else in this forsaken world: taking whatever odd job Zack gives him, his outlook gloomier each and every day.

~QUALITIES~
Positive:
-Bilingual. Shrike had to become fluent in Japanese as part of his former job, leaving him bilingual in both English and Japanese.
-Codeslinger, Hack on the Fly. Shrike vastly prefers the stealth approach to hacking, finding brute force unrefined and without style. He's trained hard to this end, pushing his hacking on the fly abilities as high as they can go.
Negative:
-Code of Honor. Shrike has vowed to do no harm to innocents (defined as those who have not committed crimes or raised arms against him), both in the physical world and the Matrix. In the real world this means he will not kill any innocent, while in the Matrix he will not hack any icons owned by an innocent for personal profit or fun. As an example, he may hack into a bank to retrieve a file or disable security at a physical location that's targeted for a run, however will not steal any money while he is in their systems.
-Prejudiced, Outspoken Against Technomancers. Oh, you think you're so fancy dontcha? Able to hack with your MIND like some kind of magician, no offense to the real magicians out there. Well look here, this is a deck. It costs more than your body's worth pal, though maybe not that fancy mind of yours. You ever checked to see how much Technomancer brains go for? Lots of people wanting to find out how you tick... I suggest you keep that gun to your side, boy, and those sprites away from my deck. A few inches higher and an accident might just be waiting.
-SINner, UCAS. Shrike used to live a normal, SINful life. His UCAS SIN is a remnant of those days, though he never uses it anymore due to the arrest warrant tied to it. If he did, it's likely he'd find himself brought to "justice" before he could even take a step. With the prevalence of biometrics, Shrike rightfully turned paranoid at hiding his old identity. As part of Zack’s “new life package”, Shrike had his natural eyes removed and replaced with cybereyes to change his retina, his old hands chopped off to remove his fingerprints, had a voice modulator installed to subtly change the tone and inflections of his voice to defeat voice identification, and even underwent plastic surgery to disguise his face. To top it off, he doesn't tell anyone his old name, almost forgetting it himself.

~CONTACTS~
Fixer: Zack
Connections: 5
Loyalty: 2
Zack was the one who picked Shrike back off his feet after he was framed by his former employers. Or rather, he "suggested" that Shrike become a Shadowrunner due to his skills, offering a new life if he were to accept. With little choice Shrike did, and despite some mistrust between them there's no denying Shrike would probably be rotting in a cell or dead in a ditch if not for Zack. While he carries no debt thanks to handing over what money he had held on to, Shrike prefers to stick with Zack as his fixer as why change what's not broken? Zack has numerous connections after all and while the trust between them could be better, it's no worse than starting all over with someone else.
Decker: Ruby
Connections: 2
Loyalty: 5
A friend of Shrike's since before he was framed and lost his prior life, and indeed the only he has managed to hold on to in his new life in the shadows. The story of Shrike meeting Ruby is interesting: he met her when she attempted to, unsuccessfully, hack into his corp-issued Cyberdeck. As he always runs his Sentry agent he already had eyes on her before she even started her hack, tracing her in the real world to a nearby alley. What he found surprised him: a starving homeless girl who couldn't be more than 13 years old, working on a cyberdeck built from what looked to be scrap dug out of a dumpster. She was near-frantically stealing the bank information of anyone who passed by, then transferring a single nuyen from each account. Not enough to draw attention, just enough for her to continue surviving. Acknowledging her natural talent and pitying her desperate situation, he helped her get off her feet and for a period of time let her live with him, turning a blind eye to her hacking adventures. Fortunately, she moved out months before Shrike was framed. Now it's rare the two meet in person, but they maintain contact over the Matrix as close friends.
Corporate Security Spider: Michael Adams
Connections:: 3
Loyalty: 1
Shrike doesn't trust Michael, and he's not sure Michael trusts him either. Michael was a fellow spider Shrike knew over the Matrix from while he still worked his former job as a spider himself. After he was framed Michael claimed that he believed Shrike's claims of innocence. The two have never met in person, if they had Shrike would have severed all connections. As it is, he keeps Michael at arm's length, though so far Michael hasn't attempted to trace Shrike's location and turn him in. Still, sometimes Shrike needs to know information about a corporate security system neither Zack nor Ruby can get him. It's at those times he contacts Michael, albeit through several layers of encryption and a heavily bounced connection.
Fixer: Joker
Connections: 2
Loyalty: 1
A mysterious new fixer, Shrike has never met him in person. His erratic, carefree attitude does little to earn Shrike's trust, yet it seems he has little choice but to continue listening.

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll do fine. There weren't really any faces, and I'm planning on starting this a bit gritty, so having some more muscle as opposed to deckers was a conscious decision. The group's pretty varied and everyone will have their time to shine. Besides, you never know what friends you might make in the shadows that can lend a hand if a specific skill set isn't available to the team.
-
Hah, almost wish I had taken an extra point in pistols then! At least I should always have my light pistol on me since it's concealed. Might as well ask another question now, any house rules you want to use or are we going by the book? The only one I'd request is to have certain wireless bonuses, namely smartlink bonuses, active if hardwired to a datajack or other DNI. Don't want to get into that whole debate so if you don't want to allow that it's fine. Also, this may be better suited for making a thread on elsewhere but I want to make clear, since datajacks are wireless-enabled like everything else, I can just have my deck connect to one of my jacks wirelessly for DNI without needing to always hardwire it, right?
I saw the edit to the first post and went and rolled for my starting money, got 3+1+6 so 10x60 plus my 4375 left over.

Starting Nuyen roll 15x60 Nuyen, plus the 65 I had left over.
Also guick question- modifying a gas mask is covered by the armorer skill right?

Bio
Matthew Kensington has always been a little off. As a kid growing up in San Francisco, he was generally more interested in things than in people. In fact, he wanted to be a mad scientist when he grew up, and would spend whole days tinkering away with the tool kit his parents bought for him.
As he grew older, Matthew took to making and selling drugs and explosives to finance his hobbies. In the process of developing a career as a black market supplier, he also became more outgoing, and learned to fight. The Japanese occupation of the bay area was both good and bad for business- it put him at a lot of risk, but also kept prices high by keeping competition down. Ultimately, when a coalition of corporations, rebels and civil rights activists started pushing the Japs out, Matthew decided to support the home team- it was good for his popularity and his bottom line.
Things worked out for a while, but in the aftermath of the Japanese exit, more players entered the black market, fighting ensued, and Matt made too many enemies as he tried to protect his place in the drug and explosives market. He knew his days were numbered, so taking advantage of the government disorganization in the wake of the recent war, he had his SIN information corrupted, and himself declared presumed dead, and hired a rigger to smuggle him over to Seattle.
The newly christened Mattoon soon set up shop in Redmond, using his savings to resume his old business of producing drugs and explosives, and his hobbies of tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. In Seattle though, there were too many established players for him to easily develop a loyal customer base and make a living in the matter to which he was accustomed. Seeking to supplement his income, and have some excitement in the process, Mattoon started running the shadows as something of an all-rounder, providing his teammates with jury-rigged devices, explosives, first aid, drugs, and a more than decent gun hand.

@Shrike: For smartguns, I'm going to give the +1 to Acc. and dice if using a smarlink with non-cyber parts (e.g., glasses, contacts, goggles). If you have cybereyes and are using a smarlink, I'm going to give the +2 to Acc and dice. As long as it's hooked to a DNI, you don't have to worry about the wireless stuff. We can also use DNI for the decks, namely you can run cold/hot sim through the wireless.
@Panzer: Yep, we'll use armorer for that mod.
-
I'm sure this is a normal question for play by post, have we all run together before? Are we an established team or individuals brought together by Joker?
-
@Boer: You don't know each other. You'll all be brought together by Joker. When we start off the IC thread, I'll have a background for how one of each of your contacts introduced you to Joker.
-
So what I want to do with my gas mask is add on a little inhalant dispenser attachment. Something where I can attach, say, a dose of jazz and a dose of kamikaze to it, and then have them dispensed into the gas mask with a wireless command (free action). Of course I'd still have to be wearing the gas mask, which I won't always be doing since it only has one hour of oxygen in the tank, but if I'm prepared it lets me dose myself up a little easier when I get into an unexpected firefight.
Seems modifying the gas mask should take a few hours, and then programming the command into it should take a software test and less than an hour. Not sure what the actual target numbers should be; I'm a bit unfamiliar with B/R tests.
-
That sounds cool Panzergeist. Have you thought of a nose tube contraption? Kind of like in Dune or a militarized version of what you get from hospital, that could be a normal injection rig for you with a gasmask delivery system hook up too. Hope I'm not intruding on your process I just thought you might like.
-
Good point, I could rig it up so iI don't have to be wearing the gas mask. Still would be visible though, so this isn't something to use when I'm going incognito. Also, if I made it a separate device, I'm not sure how it would be compatible with the gas mask; seems like the nose tubes would prevent the gas mask from fully sealing. Need to think about this a bit.
-
For that I'd say it'll be an average build job for armorer to build and hardware for the wireless activation of the delivery system, so threshold of 12 with interval 1 hour extended test for both aspects of the gas mask. It's fine if you break the total construction up into the two separate extended tests. You might have time in between when Joker contacts you and the run begins, but it might cut it a little close. I ask that you not start construction until the IC thread begins though. Assume that you have the inhaler components, so don't worry about getting that gear.
-
This is my first character in probably 15 years, and frankly he was pretty rushed. If anyone sees a problem or something I missed please let me know.
Also I stole a contact off Mattoon, hope you don't mind but I thought it might be kind of cool to have the characters connected and not even realize it

BACKGROUND
Aerik Blackthorne was born in small town Iowa to Robert, a military man who left the UCAS Air Force to tend to the corporate owned yet family run farm, and Liz, a stay at home mother. Growing up on a farm had its benefits for sure. The sprawl was something you'd here about on the news only.... word is Des Moines had a "sprawl", but its runners made a Seattle leather tramp look like a big time corp runner. It had its drawbacks as well...Aerik felt like he was missing out on the action that he watched all over the Trid.
After graduation he enlisted in the UCAS Air Force like his father had done at his age. It was time for him to see the world outside the slow paced life Iowa had to offer. Following basic training he was trained as a dog handler in the Security Forces. He was excited about it because it gave him the opportunity to play with some of the cool firearms he'd read about, he gained a love for animals growing up on the farm, as well as it would give him enough experience to score a good corp-sec job after his enlistment was up.
Following school he was sent to upstate New York to guard a research laboratory. He loved the area, and was good at his job but found himself going to NYC nearly every weekend. He loved the fast pace that life in the city offered him, but more importantly, there was always a new bar to drink at and new folks to meet.
As his six year enlistment dragged on, he found himself spending even more time in NYC. Soon, he was burning his leave to head to the city with his buddies in order to find some new weekend fling and get wasted instead of heading home to see his folks. Five years into his six year enlistment he was promoted to Staff Sergeant, but that's only because he was a fairly sharp dude riding the coat-tails of his pretty stellar pre-booze career. He was glad his drinking buddy and former supervisor had lined him up with a job where he was working when he got out of the Air Force.... They probably weren't going to let him reenlist anyways. His only regret about the whole thing was he didn't leach more cheap cyber out of them. Military doctors would always do operations free for experience to stay qualified as long as the ware was purchased through the military....no shoddy equipment. And if you paid for them yourself they wouldn't take them back when your enlistment was up.
NYC DocWagon was hiring muscle to fly along and secure landing sites for their runs. The pay was nice, the toys were better, and the 2 on 3 off schedule gave Aerik plenty of time to enjoy the night life in the city. His entire crew was a motley bunch who spent all their off-time chasing a new slot. They got the job done however, and never picked up a stiff unless he was DoA. The doc (probably the drunkest man-whore of them all) showed him a thing or two about saving a life along the way. As he got a little more experience under his belt performing the first aid duties, Aerik found he enjoyed slinging bandages just as much as slinging lead.
One flight, a pretty hairy firefight between 2 groups of runners in Harlem, not long after their 2 day shift started, the shit hit the fan in a bad way. Some big time corp runners were hired to ambush another group, and naturally a hell of a firefight ensured. A DocWagon platinum man went down and the group scrambled to retrieve him. Generally a DW bird and its crew are off-limits, but this fight was particularly nasty. Doc took one in the shoulder, and a rocket clipped the bird causing it to perform an extremely hard landing near a project high-rise. They'd have to fight till two more crews could come in and get them and the original platinum. Bosses weren't gonna like this....
While they were fixing up Doc they found he still had enough alcohol in his system to kill a dwarf. The bosses knew the whole crew had just been on a 3 day bender in the big city together, so they checked the entire crew. Every one of them was positive for booze (at a minimum) and was canned on the spot. He tried to plead his case that he wasn't drunk but it didn't matter... The bosses had all intentions of making an example out of the crew.
Bitter and disgruntled, Aerik packed up his stuff and headed home to Iowa. The family reunion was nice and he hoped he could get used to the farming lifestyle, but it just wasnt in his blood any longer. After four months he took his possessions and Jonas, his one year old Lab/German Sheppard that he rescued off the farm, and headed towards Seattle. They had good craft beer there, and probably some work too....
-
Hey that's a clever idea, I'd like to see how it could play out. The bartender contact probably needs more background- I don't think someone you bought a beer from once counts as a contact. You have to have a reason to know him and have his contact info, at least.
Also I think skill groups are capped at 4 at character creation.
-
How do you want to handle boltholes? As separate lifestyles or use the safehouse download?
-
I considered a 1:1 merely an acquaintance met 1 time. Got his name and that's about it.
And I must have missed the skill group rule... Gonna go look for it now
-
I just looked for that skill group rule and didn't see it anywhere. I think I remember it being in 4E with the BP build system when I read that rulebook, but it's not in 5E with the default priority build.
That gas mask idea is cool, Panzergeist. Nice thinking.
-
Hell, you're right about skill groups. Need to make some modifications on another character I'm working on now....
You've all got me psyched about this gas mask now...I'm looking forward to trying my hand at a street same who uses drugs and edge more than cyber.
-
He's right? Where in the book is it then, what page?
-
Sorry for double posting but while looking some more I saw that the example Decker character actually has the Electronics group at 6 and the Gunslinger Adept has firearms group at 5, so I really don't think there's any such limit on skill groups at chargen in 5E. We should all breath a collective sigh of relief now!
-
No I said YOU are right...I was misremembering the skill group rule.
-
D'oh, that's what I get for rushing through your post right before I left work. Nevermind that then <_<
-
@Boer: If you'd like to have a bolthole, just use the table on pg. 11 of Safehouses for the nuyen pricing. Instead of using karma or LP, I'll just let you buy it with nuyen. We can also have it so that based on availability (i.e., higher the lifestyle higher the availability modifier) your fixers and other contacts may be able to set you up with a safehouse, if need be.
@Shrike: Your character looks fine. No problem about borrowing contacts. I'll work with it.

Get sick for a few days and the world keeps going. :)
Currently working as a Private Investigator and magical troubleshooter, Sam Mercer is a former Ancient go-ganger, born and raised in Seattle. Disillusioned with the gang life, Mercer did time as a felony inmate, but the Crash of '67 gave him a chance at a clean slate. Currently, Mercer works the shadows, which in turn pays for his pro-bono work among the SINless and those that need a helping hand.

Mechanic C2/L3 (FREE)
-‘Grease- Pit ‘ Pete, a beer bellied human with salt and pepper hair. He’ll complain about working late but, he needs the nuyen. But, who the hell doesn’t right? He’s not above installing the illegal mods if he knows you well enough. Not bad with bullet holes either.
Fixer C2/L2 (FREE)
-‘Smiling’ Jack, a large Troll trying his hand at rising above being just muscle. He got his moniker from the many gold, or rather gold colored teeth. He deals in quality or quantity. You never get both from him in a deal so, you best be specific.
Joker C2/L1 (FREE)
-What’s to say, some Jackass telecommuting to work like he’s a corpZombie.
Bartender C2/L1
-Big Phil. Nice guy or has a bad memory, not sure which it is when he gives free drinks, when you tip anyways. The Pourhouse is always a nice distraction at any rate. Whoever came up with women soy-wrestling is a fraggin' genius.
Fence C3/L1
-‘Goldman’. If I didn’t personally know Dwarves I’d swear they were all pricks like him. I never expect a fair deal but, if it’s hot he’ll take it.
Ganger: Hell Hounds C3/L4
-‘Double Eights’, a human member of the Hell Hounds that was around long enough to remember me. Kept me from getting burned over wearing my own Cut. He’s been straight with me and his pull has gotten me ‘retired’ status….we’ll see how long that lasts.
Ganger: Spikes C2/L2
-Bobby ‘Basher’, like all Spikes he’s a Troll. He had my back in the yard when the Ancients got rowdy. Tried partying with him since I’ve been out but, that Nitro……
Ganger: Chulos C2/L2
-Escobar. Nice to see an Elf not change his colors just because the other Keebs were about. I got respect for him staying brown. His weed and toilet sangria wasn’t bad in the joint either. He was a good cellie and a solid guy on the outside.
Street Doc C2/L2
-‘Back Alley’. He does good work and it’s a reasonably clean place for a back alley clinic. Only complaint is all the hookers and the local girls there for abortions or STD treatments. Not all bad I suppose, you can rent the janitor’s closet for 20 minutes for 20 yen. The girl and penicillin are extra.
Owner of Black’s Junkyard C3/L3
-Watched his nephews back in the ‘Brickyard’. Not because I liked the kid. The gang was getting paid but, the family is still appreciative of it.
Beat Cop C2/L2
-‘Forearm’ Foreman. Dirty as they come. I guess that’s why he’s still a beat cop. Just haven’t figured out if it’s by choice yet.
Prison Guard C1/L1
-CO Polk. Used to rent out a cellie to him, not that the cellie belonged to me, I was just paid to look the other way. Literally. Pity that CO Polk made the mistake of being married with children.

Hello everyone. The character sheets all look good to me. I'm going to post the background of how you all have met Joker below, then I'm going to start up the IC thread. Once it's up, feel free to jump in and let's get this thing started. I'm also going to refer to each of you by your character names/aliases. Let me know if you'd like any adjustments to it.
@Doc: Jason Allen introduced you to Joker. Word is that Jason got a mysterious message from Joker a few months ago. Since then, he's been giving Jason info on some of his Doc Wagon trips. Everything from best places to approach for extraction to warnings that they might get calls from areas minutes before the alarm comes in. Jason's not sure where this guy's getting his information, but so far he's proven to be quit invaluable. Nothing comes for free in the sprawl though. Joker's been getting info on team members and a runner here and there from Jason. When Joker asked if Jason knew any runners new to the area that might be looking to make some cash, your name inevitably came up. While you were a bit surprised that Jason would give out your comm info, he hasn't given you a reason to doubt him, yet.
@Hellbilly: Smiling Jack's trying to break into the wild and wonderful world of the fixers. Every now and then he passes some info or a job to you that helps to boost his cred. You ain't complaining, as long as the nuyen's good and it's on the level, and so far he hasn't disappointed. You weren't that surprised when he told you he passed on your info to a Fixer he's recently met. He warns you that the guy is a little wacky, but the info and creds are good, so why complain?
@ Mattoon: Jason Allen introduced you to Joker. Word is that Jason got a mysterious message from Joker a few months ago. Since then, he's been giving Jason info on some of his Doc Wagon trips. While you were a bit surprised that Jason would give out your comm info, he hasn't given you a reason to doubt him, yet.
@Sam: So far Plex hasn't given you a reason to distrust him/her...whatever. It's always a bit frustrating when you don't ever get to actually meet the Fixer. You weren't that surprised when you received a message from Plex that you might get contacted by a new Fixer in town. Goes by the name Joker. Plex mentioned that Joker was a Fixer after Plex's own heart. You wonder what was implied by that exactly. I guess only time will tell. Besides, sometimes beggars can't be choosers, and Plex did say the pay's pretty good.
@Shrike: So far, Zack's been of an immense amount of help to you. Helping you get some work after that little mishap. You weren't that surprised when you received a message from Zack saying that he was sending a Fixer your way that might have some work. Name's Joker, and word is he's looking for new runners in town. Apparently he's got some pretty good street cred so far, and the creds are good. Not much else you could ask for or expect in the shadows.

Okay, I'm going to say the gas mask is 9 hits on the armorer test, and 3 on hardware. Sounds about right.
First Hour: Armorer (9)- 3 hits (Mental limit is 7)
Second Hour: Armorer (8)- 2 hit
Third Hour: Armorer (7)- 1 hit, and glitched. Spent a point of edge to negate...not going well so far.
Fourth hour: Armorer (6)- 1 hits, up to 8 total
Fifth hour: Armorer (5)- Exactly one hit, getting me to the 9 I need.
Sixth hour- Hardware (11)- 3 hits
So that was rough, but I got it done. THE MASK is in play people!
Second, going to do a quick search on this club.
Computer 7[7](1) search for general knowledge- 4 hits, 3 hits, 3 hits. Did three searches to look in a few different places. Basically looking to find out what the clubs layout is like, security, typical clientele, etc.
Runner Hangouts (street knowledge) 6[7] (unclear threshold)- 2 hits. Testing to see if I know anything about this club being a common meet location or runner hangout, and also where to search on the matrix for less well-known info about it.
Computer 7[7](3) search for limited knowledge- 1 hit (failure), 1 hit (failure), 1 hit (failure). So....I don't find anything there.
That makes it about 7:45 when I finish all this stuff. Enough time to eat, get dressed and head over.
Also are we supposed to have worked with Joker before, or only met him?
-
Was a bit worried that the mask might not be built in time there. Okay, as far as the knowledge rolls:
Syberspace: A nightclub in downtown Seattle. Address - 7th Ave. and Columbia. Deckers and other matrix oriented clientele tend to make up the regulars. The place is flooded in neon, both in the real world and AR. Always a happening spot and typically known to house techno, bass, and any other type of electronic music that's popular that week. The security is solid, as it is a nightclub downtown, but not anything too crazy. Place isn't known for having too many fights, but nightlife is nightlife and sometimes a scuffle breaks out. The bouncers can definitely handle themselves and due to the techie focused clientele, they try to keep the riffraff out. It's rumored that the club hires out to awakened now and then, just to keep any would-be troublemakers on their toes.
Runner knowledge: The place has been known to be a meeting place for runners. Usually datasteals and matrix runs. The place has been rumored to be involved with the Underworld in an informal sense, but specific parties haven't been mentioned. Appears to be pretty neutral ground.
As far as Joker is concerned, this is your first interaction with him. You've all basically just been warned by your respective contacts that there's a Fixer in town looking for some fresh talent and your names have been passed along.
-
Haha yeah, I almost forgot you can use edge to negate a glitch too, was about to give up when I remembered that. So, one edge point down and the meet hasn't happened yet. But hell, that's what you max edge for.
-
Well this snuck under me, guess I shouldn't rely on email notifications to actually work right here.
Doing some Matrix searches for information on the club as he has nothing better to do in the time, guess Panzergeist did so himself but I'll try not to godmod here. Computer 5 + Intuition 4 gives dice pool of 9, limit 6 on my default deck configuration.
Spend five minutes searching for general public information on the club, looking for rules (weapons allowed?) and other general info, threshold 1. Hits: 3,0,3,0,4 so 3 successes
Spend four hours searching for limited interest information, trying to find out as much as he can about security both physical and Matrix, threshold 3. Hits: 0,4,4,4,5,3,1,5 so 6 successes.
Working on my post already so I should be able to have it up when I get this info.
-
@Shrike: Syberspace: A nightclub in downtown Seattle. Address - 7th Ave. and Columbia. Deckers and other matrix oriented clientele tend to make up the regulars. The place is flooded in neon, both in the real world and AR. Always a happening spot and typically known to house techno, bass, and any other type of electronic music that's popular that week. The security is solid, and is about as strict on weaponry as any other club in Seattle. If you've got a permit and don't start any trouble, you're usually fine. Just don't expect to walk in with an assault rifle or anything. This is a nightclub after all.
Limited Interest: The place has been known to house some of the seedier elements of downtown nightlife. Usually those interested in more black market matrix info/resources than anything else. Not exactly known as a place to find muscle. No known underworld or gang affiliations.
-
Okay, got that posted. One question that I've thought of that may be relevant for later: how much do you think can fit in the smuggling compartment in my forearm? I've got a spare magazine for my concealed light pistol in there already, but do you think my data tap and/or tag eraser could fit too? Not bringing them now, but they may be helpful to have around later without drawing questions.
-
@Shrike: I'll allow the clip, data tap, and tag eraser. The data tap sounds pretty small and since it's a light pistol clip, it's not gonna take up that much room. If you have a heavy pistol clip in there, then I'll restrict it to a heavy pistol clip and either the data tap or tag eraser, not all three.
-
Hey dragonfire, is that 250 creds for listening, or 2500 creds? Cause if it's the second, hell yes, Sam would do more than listen, but 250 couldn't restock his ammo.
-
Hi. It's 250 for agreeing to go to the meeting.
-
@ HellBilly: Let me know which vehicle you choose and about what time you want to arrive at the club.
@Sam: About what time are you planning on arriving?
@Shrike: About what time are you leaving your place in the cab? What time do you want to arrive?
@Aerik: Do you want to enter the club right when you arrive?
-
Don't exactly know how bad Seattle traffic is in the future, but let's just say I left an hour before and arrive about 15 minutes early.
-
Yeah I'll enter when I get there to get a feel for the place.
-
Not sure how you want to deal with the nuyen for gas.
-
Pfft, I hadn't even thought of gas or cab fares. Will be funny if I end up having to spend more than 250 just to get to the meeting and back.
-
Don't worry about gas/cabs and other odds and ends like food, cigarettes, drinks, non combat oriented clothes, etc. I'll include it in your lifestyle costs, unless it's something ridiculous like cross country trips or high class meals on a squatter lifestyle.
-
It'd be like all the job interviews I've gone to in the last 2 years.
-
parking lot or street parking? Or, is it parking platform?
-
There's a parking lot across the street, two alleys on either side of the club, or you can valet at the actual club.
-
Sam should arrive about 30 minutes before the meet.
-
Sorry about the quick one line post. I didn't want to hold up the game anymore than I might already have.
-
No prob. So everyone, feel free to post what you want to do as you walk to the elevator. Once you're all in, we'll move on. Feel free to just post in OOC if you don't do anything and just follow the waitresses.
-
Hey everybody. I'm going to move the mission along, but if there's anything you want to say to each other in the elevator on the way up, feel free to just post it in IC.
-
@Shrike: As you enter the meeting room, Sentry notices that matrix activity which it did not notice prior to entering the room is buzzing. Icons pop up as you enter and data streams outside are cut off. It has the feeling of a jammer. It doesn't look like Jack wants anything that's said in this room getting out just yet.
-
So there is a bar there or are we ordering drinks if we want?
-
There's a stocked bar, but no bartender. You'll have to make them yourself if you want one.
-
@Shrike: Sentry notifies you that the jammer is emitting from Jack. He can't quite locate where on him the device is located though.
-
@Shrike: Can you give me a negotiation and a con roll? Thanks.
-
Sure:
Charisma 6 + Negotiation 5 [Social 7] = 11 Dice with 4 Hits
Charisma 6 + Con 5 [Social 7] = 11 Dice with 3 Hits
Could have been better rolls, then again I don't really know what a good roll is. Hope it's enough!
EDIT: Oh, are there any modifiers I should apply to these rolls?
-
No modifiers, you're fine. Statistically you got about what you should. Thanks!
-
Headed out of town for the weekend. Won't be able to play, but I'll be back Sunday night or Monday morning.
-
I'm going on vacation too, for a whole week, but I should be able to get on still and post just fine so long as my laptop holds out.
-
@Shrike: Cool. The mission's for 5,000. Are you asking for 6,000 from Jack?
-
Whoops, just a slip and I got the numbers mixed up in my head, my bad; I went and fixed it.
-
No problem.
-
Hey everybody. Dragonslayer mentioned to me that he'd be having wifi issues for a few days. Haven't heard back from him, but I'm going to move the run forward assuming that he is joining in.
-

Okay, so I left my assault rifle, grenades, gas mask and everything at home...assume other people also didn't bring everything. So what do we do, anyone have a vehicle? Or maybe just cab it home, toss everything in a duffel bag and cab it to Vigor Industrial?
-
Since I never really spelled it out earlier, I'm going with Aerik brought everything with him except his extra clothing, his AK, and his rating 6 med-packs. Everything else he should have been able to carry on his body.
EDIT - and he has no driving skills but is willing to give it a whirl.
-
Unfortunately, I did spell it out. How long would it take to cab it home, grab my stuff and put it in a duffel bag, and cab it to the pickup spot?
-
@Panzergeist: You can probably get home and to the harbor in about an hour as long as you don't dillydally.
-
Ah, sorry for my lateness. Last week was busier than expected and as soon as I got home I fell sick. Still sick now in fact, but suffering through it. Hopefully we can get things back on track now.
