Title: [SR5] Taser Concealability
Post by: FlynnTheAvatar on <08-13-13/1530:08>
Sorry if this was already answered somewhere, but what is the concealability modifier for a taser? Taser are not listed in the table on p. 420.

Are they counted as Hold-outs, light pistols or heavy pistols? I would tend to compare them to light pistols (-2).

In SR4 they were the same as heavy pistols. They need a bit more space so are a bit bigger than light ones.

Thanks for the clarification.

Another opinion:

A hidden arm slide can only fit "a hold-out, light pistol, or taser." (http://adragon202.no-ip.org/Shadowrun/index.php/SR5:Firearm_Accessories)

Given that they can be concealed in a hidden arm slide like a light pistol, I'd probably rule that they count as a light pistol.

(Then again, perhaps they're slightly larger than light pistols, but not quite as clunky as heavy-pistols.  Or maybe the hidden arm slide has a weight maximum, and heavy pistols are too heavy.  At which point the previous poster's mention of the SR4 ruling makes sense.)
