I've had my pre-order in there for months and from what I've read Amazon should have received their shipments in time for their release date of 9/25. My order still shows pending - did anyone that pre-ordered from Amazon get a shipping notice yet, or have a different status on their order?
-
Nope...actually cancelled my pre-order...picking up from my FLGS later today. ;)
-
A friend of mine received his two days ago. I got a shipped notice around the same time, and I expect the book is in my mailbox now.

Is this from Amazon? If so about how long ago did you pre-order? Amazon customer support is telling me the estimate is 2-4 weeks, which is what the product lists for orders placed now.. I expect that answer isn't correct though.

This is from amazon, we both ordered in July. We both also have prime, so that may be a factor.

Mine went from Shipping on the 25th to "Unknown estimated date" and now says I'll get it in October. I ordered about 2 weeks ago. Ugh.
-
Sounds like Amazon oversold their order and is now waiting on the second printing. I'd be amazed if the second printing shipped by the end of October, so the October date is probably something Amazon pulled out of their butt.
Pretty typical of Amazon when dealing with small publishers honestly.

Sounds like CGL either misjudged demand or couldn't afford to print enough to meet demand to me. Maybe even a little of both I guess.

Yes I pre-ordered in first week of August, and have prime also but didn't get one of the first shipment. I went ahead and cancelled the order.

If you look at the Sold Out release info posted here: http://www.catalystgamelabs.com/2013/09/23/shadowrun-fifth-edition-first-printing-sold-out/
CGL printed up around 15,000 SR5's, which is a sizable print run (And much larger I believe most RPGs get). The expectation had been, based on previous sales data, that this print run would last till the end of the year. Sales have been much, much higher than expected, though. Which is awesome, but also a bit problematic.
As for Amazon... Well, I've spoken on this a number of times. We don't deal directly with Amazon, so they're buying through a distributor like anyone else. And Amazon isn't very smart about their ordering... they will take as many preorders as they can get without regard to how many of the item they can get ahold of. They're the very model of soulless corp greed. :)

Don't let them hear you say that, I still want my book!

I'd respond with something witty, but I'm too busy mulling over my storebought Special Edition.

Considering that most RPGs that had kickstarters recently had around 4 to 5 thousand backers if they were a core book, I'd say that managing to sell 15,000+ copies of a book is a pretty impressive feat in the modern RPG market, so while it is obvious that Catalyst underestimated the demand for SR5, I think there is absolutely no way they could have expected such demand.
Also, with print runs, especially as more people turn to PDF as their only format for purchasing RPG books, you have to be careful not to over-shoot the demand... books left in warehouse = dollars thrown in the garbage.

So, what are we going to force Jason to do this time? ;D

Neither, actually.

Just got my copy from the FLGS (pre-order). It's gorgeous. Friend just picked up his at Madness in Plano TX and they had multiple copies on the shelf.
-
My FLGS was already sold out when I picked mine up...all copies either pre-ordered or reserved within last week. Comment was that supply was already starting to get tight...distributors still had some stock, but dwindling fast.
-
I ended up canceling my Amazon order and picked it up at my FLGS along with Sprawl Wilds.
-
My FLGS either got lucky, or placed a really large order and only received part of it...
Last week I picked up 1 of 3 copies of the limited edition they had on the shelf, and last night I picked up 1 of 5 copies of the standard edition they had on the shelf - and I noted they had only one limited edition left (and probably only because I had asked one employee to hold a copy for me but I got there and picked up the book before he had a chance to put it on hold, and then no one told him it was me that made the purchase).
-
Just got told I'll get mine October 1.
-
I placed an Amazon order end of July, just received an email stating the estimated delivery is 10-24 Oct. I know nothing about the logistics of printing and distributing a product like this, but I would have thought Amazon wouldn't be able to get any more copies until the 2nd printing. And middle of October seems really soon for the 2nd printing to be completed and distributed.

I've received shipping confirmation from Amazon.
