Title: RL: Stuxnet worm seems right out of Shadowrun
Post by: Malachi on <11-08-10/1206:22>
Wow, this is scary stuff that appears to be right from a Shadowrun plot.  A highly sophisticated computer worm designed to do real-world harm to critical infrastructure systems, probably sponsored by a nation-state or a private investor with very deep pockets.  All that's missing in this one is hiring a runner team to deliver the virus.
Stuxnet could hijack power plants, refineries (http://news.cnet.com/8301-27080_3-20013545-245.html?tag=mncol;txt)

Hmmm... Sounds familiar. Might just be the first step in another plan, though. (http://wiki.dumpshock.com/index.php/Crash_Virus_of_2029)

I've said it before.

Every day, in every way, the world comes closer and closer to that of Shadowrun.
