Its saturday 17th August 2073 , the new Premier League season is kicking off in the UK.
Last years champions , Arsenal Aztecs face bitter rivals Spurs Mitsuhama , in a season opener to savour...
Meanwhile , in a shadier backstreet of East London , a job is planned.....
HI , Im recruiting for this London, UK centric game , I will be working from 5ed , if your from the UK , cool , if not its not all gor blimey guvnor etc.
Please send ONLY character outlines and backgrounds , no stats as of yet , I am not going to process any applications that come with stats attached , and please include a short passage of why your runner is in a dingy east boozer at 3pm on a saturday....

Handle: Scout
Background: A Yorkshire lad by birth, scout moved down to the old smoke after uni, drawn to the big city by the prospects of getting a decent job in robotics and drone design. He got a job working for a small outfit but a row with the boss meant he hit a glass ceiling early on in his career, just about able to pay the rent in a dump in east london on his meagre salary.
His firm eventually went under and he was forced to make ends meet through other means.
A pal of a pal on the darts team "knew a guy" and fixed him up with some "work", better money than he'd earned doing legit stuff at any rate.
He is a rigger and wheelman, specialising in recon and surveillance. He'd be in the pub at 3pm on a Saturday watching the scores come in on the trid screen, slinging some darts and having a pint.

Backround:: A composed, attractive teenage runaway new to a foreign country earning just enough to survive "finding" things for local shadowrunners. Up until two years ago she lived in Vancoover, on the streets at an early age she was a target, therefore quickly learning to defend herself taking the best training she could find, but the pressures of the street got to her and she sought comfort in
alcohol, part of the recovery was leaving town and starting fresh-taking only what she could carry. Now of age and curious, motivated to make some real money she is trying to develop a darker persona to be acknowledged and recruited. Awakened, but limited, unaware of this fabled "astral" space finds herself jealous and biased against those who know it. She just woke up and walked to a new bar she heard about to "assess" the place and patrons, and get some breakfast.
I tried to fit the role in the backround kind of, but she is a Mystic Adept spellcaster, back-up face I guess....sorry but I don't really know the "roles" all that well.

I'm completely new to pbp, and I haven't played pen and paper in 17 years (bloody MMO's), but if your patient enough i'd love to try it out. Or even a mentor would be just lovely.
I live in Calgary, Canada and i'm off work for the next 9 months so can post anytime. I'm on this forum everyday anyways.
I have questions too: Do pbp participants gain money and karma? Can I continue to use the character in another pbp after the first?

An exceptionally charismatic troll face that sees little reason why her gun should ever be in any other mode than BF or FA.

A local gal that is trying to 'graduate' from gangs to running as she feels her skill-set is better equipped to that. A friend knew a guy that had some connections and could get her in touch with a low level fixer. She has a few runs under her belt mostly some minor cons and similar but is most definitely looking for more work having sunk all her recent funds into new gear.
She is at this sorry excuse for a pub because it was the one closest to where she woke up and she was in extreme need of the second best hangover cure known to man.
(As an aside, the GM would need to approve of the Exceptional Attribute quality for this character and also of the creation steps taken in the core book where the attribute point is allocated before the quality is taken.)
Edit: Might be better to add that I am from Iceland and I check these forums daily.

(Note: as for Tkeela's question, most GM's give you nuyen (cash) and karma as you play on PBP. Thing is if you ever want the character to go to anther game with those upgrades you have to convince your new GM to let you some say Ya some NA.)
Background: Smokie grew up in a flop house in the east end, his mother was a nova coke addict. His father who knows, at a young age his mother OD'ed and him and his two friends took care of themselves. From scrapping his two nuyen together he has got himself a deck, his friend is happy since he is tired of Smokie stealing his. Smokie has been doing odd jobs here and there meeting new people to help him out in this cold wet world, he is still hoping to get his feet into something bigger. He knows he has skills being a mage and a decker but it is not always what you know but who you know. This is the reason he has been trying to make friends at an Awakened only club. Some contacts have started to form from his regular visit to the Awakened only club but this day he is tired and doesn't want to recast his sustained spells when he has to leave the club drunk so he has decided not to walk thought the clubs wards so this pub it seem like the drinks will not kill him.... he hopes. Smokie being more mind set the body bronze also hopes he doesn't have to fight tonight since his small skeleton like body can only take so much, but if it comes to it he can roast a persons bone into chard ashes if need be.

Looking to get back in the PbP fold here after being apart of 3 games that came to abrupt ends. Plus I want to test out 5E.

Miner Fox is an enigma in the shadow runner community. Some say he's an ex-spy that worked for the UCAS, or a soldier of fortune that's been in the Desert Wars and multiple hot spots across the Earth, or maybe he was a agent for one of the AAA corps; No one really knows and he never tells people much about himself either even some of his closest contacts. He doesn't really have any friends and is more inclined to call them contacts more then friends. His contacts also have noted that his dark humor can be unsettling for time to time. Miner has been spotted in T-Bay working with smugglers, in Berlin doing something for the corps over there, and had a stint in Moscow for sometime. His travels are in search of one person... his wife. She disappeared over 6 years ago on a trip over in Europe. Miner however fears that he might just be searching for a corpse.
Miner is known to be a sure shot with any gun you put in his hands. He's also good without a gun too but he prefers to take in the action from a distance. Explosives also seem to be Miner's niche as well... he just likes to make things go boom sometimes.
He has ended up at this bar for a couple of reasons. One is that he loves to drink his sorrow away from time to time at any time. Also places like this didn't ask questions and the patrons kept mostly to themselves. He also just happened to be in the neighborhood after he was doing a follow up on a possible job.

Landslide was born in London, but his family hails from Ekaterinburg, Russia. His family left the country when the Red Vory began to expand agressively and got as far as London. With no money and few connections, they lived the lives of pariahs until their death. Yuri grew up on the streets, always the target of jokes and pranks, so he got into quite a few brawls. He developed to be one of the strongest close-combat fighters in the London gutters, so much that the he got the attention of the Vory, finally reaching this part of Europe. They recruited him as an enforcer, and he didn't really need more from life. He might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he certainly fits best when you need to cause blunt force trauma.
He usually spends his free time hanging in local bars, surrounded by other enforcers or wannabes, or just people looking for a favor with the Vory. Or he's just out to get some stuff from a street dealer. Anyway, when there is a major sports event on trid, his place is down in one of the bars.

I've PMed you Smoky too look over, thanks for the game been wanting to try out the 5th edition version since I got the book. Since I haven't used the new Matrix rules any heads up from time to time will be great. I have Decked in 2nd edition and hacked in 4th edition but the rules have changed again so I'll use my down time to read and then re read the decking rules.

-how do you want to run drone sensor arrays? it says they come with "upto" 8 functions from the table but it seems a bit funky for microdrones and the like, so i've built it as array rating limits the number of individual sensors you can install.
-how do you run gunnery in VR? LOG + gunnery or AGI + gunnery?
-how do you run smartlink for gunnery? and for drone pilots operate the guns themselves with targetting software?

me too! kinda playing a 5e game as a decker but its on the brink of death before its even got going. will be a learning experience for us all lol!

Of course they get Karma and Cash , thats the character advancement , you can use the character in other games, but I wouldnt think you could ue THIS version if improved by character advancement , other GM's will want you starting at there level

define funky? a microdrone, about the size of a tiny insect comes with 8 rating 3 sensors in its housing. these could be cameras with 3 modifications like night-vision or thermographic. a laser microphone, a motion sensor etc. a truck comes with the same 8 rating three sensors in it's array. It seems vaguely worded too, i went more with the idea that the sensor rating capped how many sensors you could fit into the array, ie a rating 5 sensor array on a truck would fit more stuff in than a rating 3 microdrone array. i just wanted to clarify with you how it works pre-game to prevent misunderstandings.
VR or AR ? I would say LOG makes most sense to me that way too, some interchangeable wording in the book which makes it unclear, but log sounds best so will play it that way.
If the GUn is smartlinked , and the operator has SL and Gunnery skill , drones would use there targeting software rating ok, how about VR rigging? does the eye implant SL work there, even if you're not using your eyes?.
so autonomous drone uses; pilot + targetting + smartlink. cool. thanks for the clarification.

As far as I know Ren we where all approved, if it takes too long to get a PM back I suggest the hard way, write the who character up in word (or similar program) Copy it and then past it into a PM, that is what I did. I did get talked to about using the color orange for section titles.... OPPS... I was using a out line for a black background website.
Any ways hope you get it figured out 8)

Not sure on the Smoking laws in your London. I know it might be a problem or might not but if it a problem a quick heads up on the laws you want to run around smoking will help Smoky complain alot or light up alot.
So again if you are willing a quick this is London's laws on smoking would be of great help. ???

Man I post a lot, but I don't want you to miss what I have to say thinking you already read the post I edited.
One thing I was wondering... ??? .... Where do we post are characters too. Some GM keep every runners sheets hidden from each other, me I'm not a fan of that since it is fun too see everyone's character they built. The only thing is I know I can play my character IC as if he knows nothing or next to nothing about everyone else, if everyone else can do the same I like to have all our character sheets in one place that way it makes it easier to remember street names what race the other characters are looks of their runner and etc.
Also if Ren can maybe get himself a quick out-line of a Character sheet to speed up his submission via a Word Doc.

For color it's up above the reply box to the right.
For invisible castle it gives you links that you can paste in your post. BBCode is the best for the GM usually. Example:
