Title: Character Conversions: SR1 to SR2, SR2 to SR3, SR3 to SR4
Post by: justkelly on <12-23-13/2056:44>
Hi - My subject really says it all.  Does anyone have access to what guidelines were given each time a new version roll-out?  I have the SR4 to SR5 guidelines as they are currently available, and I hope some wonderfully dedicated people kept a copy of the conversion "rules".

Thanks in advance for looking through your files.

Well considering the main website is still 90% all about SR4 (go figure) , you can easily find this SR3 to SR4 conversion guide!

Beyond that...can't help you, chummer! But i do remember fondly a time where every street sam and decker started play with 0.000001 essence, buying up to their limits in megabytes and storage space in their brains... lol

there wasn't a whole lot of change between SR1 > 2.  Money increased slightly for some of the Priorities, and Magic got a tad more flexible.  Attributes and skill points were the same, so direct transfers were pretty much fine.

The back of the SR3 (http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/1893/Shadowrun-Third-Edition?it=1) book has the conversion notes for SR 2 > 3.  It is a little complex.  It involved eyeballing your skills, to see which transfer over, which fit into new categories.  Also, skill points Increased from Priority from 2 > 3, so you got (pool of points) - [what few knowledge skills you have] to spend on new Knowledges, and the amount you had already spent you got to add to Active Skills.  Doesn't really say how to modify attributes, eben though the priorities provided a few more points on average, and since the attributes (Strength, Quickness, etc) didn't change, these were probably left the same, though you could probably add 3 points total (for all but Priority A)

The SR 3 > 4 was linked above,  and the SR 4 > 5 guide is available free on Drivethru.

Ultimately between 3 and 4 skills and attributes are multiplied by .6667 (so they are a little lower), and Quickness and Intelligence are doubled and those points split between Agi/Reaction and Logic/Intuition respectively.

And between 4 > 5, Attributes don't really change, but Skill rating increase based on the chart - no real flat multiplier.. some numbers are x1.25ish, and some near x2.. so go by the chart.
