Title: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: Moneyspider on <04-18-14/1806:14>
This is the OOC thread for the Randomly Generated Runs. I'm your host MoneySpider and we're going to get started.

First I'd like everyone to post their Character Sheets and Histories. Lets get those all down before anything else on this thread. If you have questions please PM me.

Second we're using http://orokos.com/ for Dice Rolls

Third the ground rules I laid out still apply.
Stuff straight from the book:
Morality: While I think characters having some disagreements over morality I'd like everyone to have the same general direction, being good. I don't want to deal with particularly evil, sick or twisted characters. Generally speaking characters should not want to leave a trail of bodies in every run. I don't expect everyone to run around with only non-leathal weapons, this is a dystopia afterall, but whether it because a character wants to avoid drawing the attention of the cops, or because they feel every life is sacred, wonton killing has heavy consequences. This is just one example I"d like to avoid violent psychopaths for characters. On the flip-side and to a lesser degree I don't expect there to be many Paladins in the Sixth world. If you want to be one of those runners who's out fighting the good fight, that's great! But a character that's particularly preachy isn't gonna work well with the guy who's just there to get a paycheck. I don't expect all the characters to be best friends, but you have to have similar moral foundations in order to work with each other.

Racisim This is a big part of the Sixth World and I have no problem implementing it against you guys. And I suggest that you consider the prejudices your character might have. Whether it something as mild as thinking trolls are kinda freaky looking or that Sasquatches aren't people no mater what anyone says. Consider prejudice tied to ethnicity and gender as well. While never hitting a woman is chivalrous and great and all that, it does come with preconceived ideas. The same can be said for many ethnicity, the great ghost dance wasn't THAT long ago, maybe your character assumes all natives are magic, or maybe you have a native character who remembers that it wasn't that long ago that white-man called for the extermination of Natives and magic was the only reason it didn't happen. There are two instances of Racism I don't want in our game. First nothing from players, simple as that. Racist OOC comments will make you not welcome in this game. Second is where it disrupts the flow of game overly much. Like with Sincereagape's elf supremacist, while interesting as hell it would be a pain to have him in a group with any non elves.

Violence I touched on this a bit with morality. But there are a few lines that need to go here too. Graphic detail is unnecessary. One can describe graphic violence without graphic detail and thanks to Hollywood I'm pretty most of use can picture something worse then what we could type out. Even then graphic violence should have an effect on a character, much like killing. It's one thing to see a guy take a bullet or a beating. But a character finding someone who had been tortured to death after several days will at the very least be making some composure checks.

Sexuality I've found that role-playing and being behind a character can be a great safe and interesting way to explore sexuality. I've also found a tendency for gamers to be very immature about it. So please feel free to make a character with an alternative sexuality. In a world of magic and crazy body modifications, of poverty and decadency, of virtual reality and survival sexual freedom is pretty much the norm. However picking up a hooker on every other street corner, or trying to hit on every person you meet with a 6 charisma is annoying and slows down the game, so feel free to role-play the sexuality of characters with a few limitations. First no need for explicit detail. Really they have different forums for that we're here to role-play not fap. Second there will be no IC Rape, not with force, drugs or mind control. Feel free to have it as part of your characters history but it will not happen IC. Third like with racism I don't want to see any OOC homophobia, transphobia or any of that stuff that causes an argument on tumblr. If someone want to make an LGBT character go for it, no one here will give you shit for it, if they do their out.

Now for some stuff from me:
Difficulty I prefer to run a more high risk/ high reward sort of game. I don't like to pull punches. I say this now so you know I'm not picking on anyone. That being said I'm still getting used to the system and will probably make mistakes. If you think I've made a totally unreasonable challenge please PM me it could be I just didn't realize how potent a critter power was, or overestimated what a party could deal with. It could also be that I presented the party with a situation that they're not meant to handle. I expect Runners to turn down jobs when their too much, I expect characters to turn tail and run when they are just too outclassed. I like to reward smart plans and clever thinking. It might seem like there's a challenge that's too great it probably means you should come at it sideways. If you can't come at it sideways then maybe you should cut your losses and call the run off. Pulling a gun in a lonestar station isn't gonna mean you survive because you're a PC, it means you're gonna get shot, even if you're Ned Stark.

Continuity I do not have an encyclopedic knowledge of the world of Shadowrun. I will make mistakes and assumptions. I ask that you be patient with me and roll with it. More often then not it won't matter. If you've got a real Hardon for Cannon sure please share with us, but Cannon isn't gonna be big part of my runs. Least not for a while.

Feedback Give it to me! Good or bad, just please be polite.

Now for some more about the IC stuff

Setting Y'all are in Seattle, bet you didn't see that coming! Most of the game's gonna take place in the Seattle Metroplex and maybe a bit into the surrounding Sailish-Shidhe Council. Maybe once we get things flowing we'll expand but for now you're in the Emerald City.

People So if anyone of you wants to talk to another one and say you have characters who know each other go for it! Just include it in your character background. Otherwise you'll all know each other through a friend of a friend essentially and I'll go more into that once we get going. Things to consider, family, friends, enemies and all that, I don't need a lot of history regarding them, but if there's something you want to share please include it in your character history. If you have the dependents negative quality, however you must let me know who they are before we begin.

Lifestyles and Attributes If you have High, Luxury or Street level lifestyles I'd like to know why. If any of your attributes are 1 or at the natural maximum it should reflect in how the character looks and behaves. Someone with 1 Body is probably sickly looking, someone with 1 Logic probably has some sort of severe head trauma. This includes Magic and to a lesser degree essence. If you've got 6 magic something about you should make it clear that you know a thing or two about the awakened world (Magical tattoos and foci for example.). Likewise someone with less then two essence is gonna look it(unless they try real hard.)

Story The whole idea is that this is going be randomly generated runs. I'll roll some dice here at home and throw something together for you guys to deal with. One day it might be working security for a rich exec while he finishes a high profile project, the next might be delivering medicine to an orphanage, the next you might be trying to steal something from the King Tut exhibit for the Iluminati. So everyone should be prepared for essentially random challenges. As we go along I expect other stories to develop. Someone's past comes into play, a nameless NPC gets a name and highers you for a job that sort of thing.

Downtime It's easy to start shotgunning runs when we have a setup like this. So I will be allocating at least two weeks of downtime between runs for characters to get healed up look for new gear, learn new skills that sort of thing. If you guys decide to push and find more work through your contacts and such more power to you.

So I hope that answered some questions about the kinda of game I want to run. If you have more questions or want clarification please ask! I want to learn though this but I also wanna have fun, and want you guys to have fun too!

And one last thing:
Posting I"d like to see posting as often as possible for everyone. If for some reason you won't be able to post for a few days please let us know in the OOC Thread. If we get no notice and no postings for 5 straight days, I'm gonna bring somebody up off the bench.

Finally there are some small changes I want everyone to note on their character sheets. Everyone gets one bonus point of edge. This point can push you past your maximum but it can not be recovered. Everyone also gets one extra contact.

AceOfSpades, most people call him Ace. This recently retired runner turned Fixer has a certain talent for getting new teams established. Right now rumors say he keep a half dozen or so teams in the cash, minus a small fee. He's got one of those faces that you always recognize but can't quite place. Rumors say he's Awakend but channels his magic mostly into begin great with a cyberdeck, and can hack in AR faster then most can Hot-Sim'd. Not much is know about him but, if he's called you for the first time he's probably putting a team together. He's known to take a personal interest in the teams success. And as one of those in the shadows who "fights the good fight" the jobs he sets up tend to help take this dis out of distopia. But a guy with that many connections isn't the kind you want to cross. Someone who runs on all three levels of the Sixth World and do some serious damage if he needs to.
The reason for his loyalty score, in-spite of never having met any of you, is because he wants his teams to succeed.

I hope to have the IG Thread up and running this weekend.

.

CONTACTS:

Alejandro - Talismonger/Boyfriend - Loyalty 3/Connection 2
Ran a little shop in the Anarchist side of Berlin when Critter was there, mostly importing wares from his family's larger operations in Spain. Occasionally, he branched out, smuggling illicit magical goods past the West Berlin corporations along with his usual shipments. When East Berlin began faltering, decided to take his import business elsewhere, eventually deciding on the UCAS. Convinced Critter to come with him, promising more and better challenges in the Seattle sprawl. So far, he hasn't been wrong. Alejandro is a low-powered Hermetic mage, primarily an alchemist.

Philippe "Phil" Francis - Knight Errant Sergeant - Loyalty 1/Connection 3
A Quebecois dwarf, Phil is a professional, but admires results over methods. As such, he is willing to work outside the law when necessary, or to forgive those who did, when the results are beneficial. Critter was lucky that Phil was her arresting officer when she was caught over the dead body of a drunken troll, protecting the cowering ork woman he had been assaulting. Phil let her go with a warning, and put the case in the file as a bar brawl gone badly. They've stayed in touch on occasion, assisting each other with information, or vigilante justice. Phil would have no compunctions arresting her if she did something truly bad, but luckily Critter has since learned to be more careful about getting caught.

BACKSTORY:

Mother a surgeon of Indian descent, father a druidic shaman of British lineage, worked together at the Welsh Royal Infirmary developing combined technological/magical treatments. It was a comfortable life. She hated it.

Born back in 2049, Reaghan had a rebellious streak a mile long. She picked fights with bullies at school, standing up for whoever was being beaten down. As such, most of her friends were metahumans. In her mid-teens, she was already involved with a minor metahuman gang, holding protests against the corrupt LPO government, much to the dismay of her parents.

When she awakened, the reason for this behaviour became clear. The Dragonslayer, personified within her as the legendary Sir Lancelot, had chosen her from a very young age. As such, she felt a compulsion to search for greater and greater triumphs, and foes to defeat. But with her awakening, political rallies would no longer satisfy.

Reaghan moved to the East Berlin anarchy state, fought for freedom against those who would take advantage of the communities. She enjoyed it there, it satisfied her spiritual needs. Eventually, the dream faded. The West Berlin corporate interests began holding more sway in the East, the anarchy began destabilizing, people began accepting more corporate control. It seemed clear that the dichotomy was dissolving, and with it her chances at conquest.

Alejandro told her of the shadows in the UCAS, the corporate and political corruption. He told her of the challenges that could await, and she ate it up. He was moving to Seattle to set up a shop that would import from his family business, and Reaghan decided to come with him to run the shadows.

CONTACTS
Fixer- Viktor Gold. A former Saeder-Krupp corporate spook who pissed off the wrong dragon and was forced to live fully in the shadows, Viktor Gold knew Johannes by reputation and made a point of looking him up. The two don't trust each other at all, but Johannes is good at wetwork and infilitration and Gold is good at making connections, so they tolerate each other for as long as it's mutually beneficial. Loyalty 1, Connection 4Street Doc- Dr. Henry Swaim. Johannes' co-conspirator, Dr. Henry Swaim was the man who helped Frankenstein extricate himself from Tanamous. They are loyal to each other and trust one another; but they are by no means friends. Whereas Johannes was sickened by the depths of depravity of Tanamous, Dr. Henry Swaim felt the strictures of the organlegging business model were too... restrictive. A literal mad genius, Swaim was disatisfied with "merely" chopping orphans up for parts. He eagerly installed most of Johannes' nicer cyber and bioware (such as his synaptic boosters) just to prove that he could. He performs routine maintenance work for Johannes to this day in his leaky sub-basement street clinic, and in exchange, Johannes provides him with specimens, er, future clients and also a bit of protection and muscle. Loyalty 3, Connection 2

Background:

Johannes Sauvant grew up a SINless urchin, scraping together a living in the unforgiving alleyways of the Berlin sprawl. Unable to qualify for a job with SK, Johannes fell in with the next best thing; organized crime. Industrial accidents, shadowruns, and general corporate backstabbing meant organlegging was a thriving business. Young Johannes cut his teeth on extraction and wetwork for a ring of organ thieves, selling cyberware, bioware, and good ol' fashioned kidneys to the highest bidder.

Early on, Johannes had a suspicion that his bosses were well-connected, possibly Vory, but he played the part of the good little cronie and kept his mouth shut for as long as the nuyen flowed. As part of the organlegging ring, Johannes Sauvant enjoyed a rather nice "employee discount" and got his pick of the used bioware and cyberware that came flowing through the shadow clinics. Eventually, he became a street samurai of some infamy, well-known as a loyal soldier of the organlegging clincs. Soon, his loyalty was rewarded with a posh station in the UCAS.

An enforcer for the organlegging operation, Johannes Sauvant soon earned the nickname "Frankenstein" due to his heavy Germanic accent and the fact that he was literally stitched together from the parts of dead man. In the UCAS, Johannes earned a greater degree of autonomy, which he used to probe into the true identities and motivations of his benefactors.

What he learned scarred him deeply.

His employers, it seemed, were not Vory at all, but Tamanous. He even suspected that his direct superior was some type of vampire or ghoul. The longer "Frankie" stayed in the organization, the more disgusted he became with the day-to-day realities. His breaking point came when he was asked to stand guard over a nondescript warehouse in Yonkers, New York. Curiousity got the better of him, and he took a peek inside under the pretense of needing to use the facilities. What he discovered inside still gives him nightmares; the warehouse basement was filled with the corpses of children. From that moment on, Johannes vowed that he would extricate himself from the organlegging "business"... and take out as many of the heartless, ghoulish monsters that ran it as possible.

He found a like-minded compatriot in Dr. Henry Swaim, a street doc who "processed" the syndicates "raw material" but who felt his talents were being pigeonholed by a bunch of thugs with no vision. When Frankenstein's immediate superiors got involved in an ugly turf war and alienated the larger Tamanous community with some bad strategic moves, the pair had their opportunity. Submitting himself to Dr. Henry Swaim's "upgrades," Johannes had some of his nicer 'ware and installed. After a perfunctory healing period, he unceremoniously slaughtered the ring's leadership and made his escape to Seattle. Due to the bad blood within Tamanous, nobody is looking for Frankenstein and the good doctor... you know. Hopefully.

The pair are now trying to establish themselves as a "legitimate" shadowrunner and a "legitimate" street doctor, respectively. Both are a step up in terms of morality from their previous careers.

Jane Door, alias Twisted Sister, : Even nature hated Jane. It had made her a dwarf. There was absolutely nothing, remarkable or noticeable about Jane. She got ignored and passed over by everybody. School was a misery, not good enough for sports, or academics or band, or choir she was outcast everywhere she went. And then came the bullying. Her life went from miserable to hell in just a few short months. And stayed that way. Until the day she balled up that hatred and threw it at the girl making fun of her yet again. The pretty little prom queen princess doubled over in agony. And Jane was happy about it, and really hoping she'd done that. It kinda felt like she'd done that. She started experimenting after that. Using her hatred to cause little things. Things that couldn't directly be pinned to her. And found out that she could. It was her revenge. And every bit of torture they visited on her fueled her. It wasn't more than that. Until the day a shadowrunner recognized the blank, slackjawed expression of stupidity on her plain little dwarven face as the look of a mage practicing her art. And knew he could use that sort of distraction on his next run. He offered her the chance of nuyen for doing what came naturally. Jane took it, and hasn't looked back.
Until now. Her crew was dead. A run gone not just bad, not just wrong, but dead. They'd been set-up to take the fall for the corp security chief who'd wanted his retirement check to come very early and very large. He'd stolen the data he'd asked them to steal under the guise of a lawyer looking for blackmail for his lawsuit. Jane had seen it coming a little to late. She'd tried to get them out. Made them Invisible and Silenced, not much help when the security teams already knew their general location, but, it still would have helped get some of them out, maybe even most of them out. She'd told IrishTwoTimer what she'd figured out and had begged, BEGGED him to get out, cut their losses and just get out!. But blast Irish to the grave and back. Once he knew he'd been double-crossed nothing would do but his hands on their betrayers neck and he'd gone after him. Hirohito, (the real name of their Johnson), had counted on that, and dead runner bodies would make his security guards look on top of the hit, and a slagged data bank told no tales of who'd stolen what. Jane knew it. Blast Irish for not listening to logic! Then it was just doing her best to get out as the blast knocked her halfway down a hall with shrapnel in a half dozen places. Trid Entertainment and a whole lot of luck had saved Jane as the drones after her had chased her illusion down a different hallway. Not even MadJack had survived. Their Johnson had seen to that too. Jane was the only loose end left. She'd run. Hit her stash and left everything she knew and run and then had tricked, bribed and distracted her way across the border. Straight to an alien world. Seattle. Dios but she missed home. Missed the sights, the sounds, the smells of home. And the food, everything here was so bland. And the customs, she nearly got herself shot several times just trying to find a place to hole up. But, the more things change the more they stay the same and she finally found a talismonger and a fence so that she could get a gun, couldn't afford a license for it, but, if she was caught with it she was already in more trouble anyway than a license would fix Jane reasoned. Sold off her jewelry for living funds and started looking around for a fixer. The nuyen she had wouldn't last long. Only name she knew of in this place was Little Blessings, a chance mention by CrazyFox of his time in Seattle. Mostly how glad he was that he was out from under the drek that guy thought of as reasonable jobs. But, beggars couldn't be choosers and she'd be reduced to begging, or more likely dead from the bullet of an antimage sympathizer, without work and a team. She had to take whatever jobs she'd be offered.
Now she'd been contacted by a guy she'd never even heard of, this Ace guy. Only the desperate went with a fixer who wasn't even the friend of a friend. But Jane was desperate. It was time for Twisted Sister, (a new alias Jane had chosen from a running joke between her and DizzyD), to step out of her new place and her old fears and into the shadows.

@Moneyspider - quick question. I was playing around with Orokos and saw we could organize rolls by campaign. Do you have a campaign name you want us to use?

Call it "Keep Running".
I haven't heard from Mortimer so I think I'll pull someone else up. That being said I think I'll open up the IC Thread later today and however the last guy is can join up at a later point.

Decided I was wasting my money and skill points buying pistols just for a backup weapon and taser, so I dropped those, put the points into unarmed instead, and picked up some shock gloves. I'm decent with just my fists, too.

Post by: Bewilderbeast on <04-23-14/0116:30>
ve4grm, you mentioned earlier the possibility of your character and Frankenstein having some history together, since they were both in Berlin? I'd be in favor of that. How do you perceive that working? Johannes didn't really rebel against the organlegging ring until he was in the UCAS, keep in mind, but he would have taken any ally he could in that endeavor. Maybe Critter ran interference in Berlin during his litte rebellion? Or they otherwise traded information? Maybe she helped foment the friction between Frankie's immediate superiors and Tamanous at large, paving the way for him to take out his boss?

Or maybe their relationship is more antagonistic? She knows a bit about his sordid past and is reluctant to trust him for that reason?
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: ve4grm on <04-23-14/0355:30>
Bewilderbeast - I could see a few of those working, possibly combined.

Quote
Critter had heard stories of the patchwork man for a while, tales of him tearing through opposition with ease. This just made her more eager to take the job when it came up. An attack on the organlegging operation. Take out the lab, and the crew, and suddenly a lot fewer people start turning up missing kidneys in the mornings. Well, that was the plan, at least.

In reality, they only partially accomplished their goal before the enforcers arrived, Frankenstein at the lead. Critter's crew scattered, but she couldn't pass up this opportunity, the chance to take down a massive target for her mentor spirit. While their respective forces chased each other, Critter and Frankie fought, eventually winding up at tooth and nail.

But Critter was still young, her powers not fully developed. Meanwhile, Frankie was huge, 'wared up, and good besides. He pounded her solidly into the pavement, then kicked her unconscious ass to the curb, refusing to finish her off. Something about "women and children" and young girls being the worst of it all. Critter woke up in a dumpster the next morning, a few lessons fresh in her mind. Mainly ones about pain, and trying to avoid getting hit next time. But also that leaving your opponent alive can be an even worse punishment than killing them.

She avoided taking on organlegger operations for the rest of her time in Berlin. She had been defeated, and didn't wish to dishonour Frankie's victory by demanding a rematch.

When the commcall came, three years later, displaying an green movie-monster head with neckbolts, she knew exactly who was on the other end. Frankie needed help staging a riot and inciting a turf war. But he didn't have any contacts in the anarchist sector of Berlin. Luckily, he had contacts who could find a girl's commcode based on vague physical description. (Critter made a note to update her MeFeed security.)

Why did she help him? She barely knew Frankie, didn't trust him. But she respected him. And in her mind, she owed him for that defeat, and her ability to help with this would be her little triumph over Frankie. Somehow, to her, this would make them even.

And whataya know, the plan even worked. Frankie fled into the shadows of Seattle, as did Critter. They know each other now. Unlike the first time they met, they're on even footing here. Hell, they've even gone on a couple runs together.

They're still very different people, who do what they do for very different reasons. They still don't really trust each other. But they respect each other. And sometimes that means more.

ve4grm, I just noticed something about your sheet. It says you have two ranks in Improved Reflexes, but you only paid 1.5 PP for it? Do you have an Improved Reflexes focus somewhere?

ve4grm, I just noticed something about your sheet. It says you have two ranks in Improved Reflexes, but you only paid 1.5 PP for it? Do you have an Improved Reflexes focus somewhere?

It actually says I paid 1.25 per rank. It's kind of confusing, yeah, but it's how I needed to put it in to automate the PP calculations. Basically, I have a formula in the "cost" cell that goes like this:

= ((ranks)+0.5) / (ranks)

So 1 rank is 1.5 per rank, 2 ranks is (2.5 / 2) per rank, and 3 ranks is (3.5 / 3) per rank.

Because the ranks don't have linear costs, the only other way to do it would be to list it as "1 rank in Improved Reflexes 2" for 2.5 points. Which works, but means I can't have my augmented Reflex score auto-calculate.

So the numbers are right. But yeah, they look weird.

Quote
Also looks like there's some good stuff in Gun n Run I really need to pick that up...

I actually only took one thing from Run & Gun, that being the Ballistic Mask. I could have gone with a helmet instead, but the mask makes more sense for the character.

I thought I saw forearms guards on there as well? Those aren't core.

And yeah, was just checking. Excel character sheets are confusing to me, that's why I don't use them. Yes, my giant cluttered wall o' text character sheet are clearly superior. Yup.

Oh, right. And forearm guards. Forgot about those.

I don't use premade excel sheets either, as I don't know what they're always doing, or if it's right. I like making my own, sometimes, though. Especially for online games.

Offline, I'm pencil and paper all the way. Unless it's 4e D&D, or I'm a spellcaster. Then printed power/spell cards are a godsend.

I just realized something. I had decided that Critter was a gamer, to the point where she has a SIM module to play simsense games. But I just now figured out why.

It brings everyone else up to her speed.

With cold-sim initiative being (X + 3d6), regular people actually get close to Critter's real-world 11+3d6 initiative.

Hell, she only has a VR initiative of 7+3d6. If anything, she finds VR slightly laggy.

That pleases me immensely for some reason.

@ismilealot - Just to ask, what type of spirit is your Spirit Bane? I think it's only supposed to be one type, right?

Given your reaction to the watcher/cat, I'm guessing Beast spirits?
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: ismilealot on <04-25-14/1904:00>
Yes. Jane hasn't actually been a mage for very long, and a runner for only about a year & a half. So her experiences have been very limited. And as an unregistered mage her education has been very spotty as she's been educating herself from books she's been able to buy off the black market.

I think at the point that Jane heard 10k with being rushed along like that she would have hired a cab so that she wouldn't arrive sweaty and out of breath. She'll want to look as professional as she can. So the last say 3k she'd be in a cab and would have thought to ask a few questions of the watcher spirit. She'll know that her dish is really dosh and have learned it's slang for money. As long as that's ok by you GM. If not I'll edit my post accordingly. And I appreciate you humoring me with the Spanish. I was afraid I wouldn't find a way to play it in-game.

Obviously I'm hoping he will otherwise there's not much point in me being in this thread, but I get the sense he wasn't invited. Since his dicepools in both skills are identical, the GM can call it whichever one he thinks fits.

It occured to me I never gave a physical description of Frankenstein! He's late 30s, old for a Shadowrunner. He's abnormally tall, about six foot seven, and while muscular tends to have a wiry, ropey look about his build. He can move fast when he wants to due to his synaptic boosters, but for the most part, he seems pretty casual and looks like he could blend into a crowd if it weren't for the fact that he stands about six inches above most of it. Unless the particular crowd is mostly trolls. Then he's good.

He has sandy-brown hair that is messy and unkempt, and frankly starting to gray at the edges. Probably the most unsettling features he has are his used cybereyes; glowing red models with chromed rims that would've been out of style a decade ago. Even without the eyes, there's something unsettling about him... a greasy pallor to his skin and general chilling aura of "fakeness" that comes with having an Essence the low side of 1. While he looks like he shouldn't weigh more than two hundred and twenty pounds, maybe two fifty, he actually weighs well over three hundred... bone density and densley-packed augmented muscle will do that to you.

Had to play a bit into Jane's awkwardness, getting her name wrong the first time. She'll get it right once corrected, as people getting names wrong is a bit of a sore point for her. But Critter isn't necessarily the most attentive person in these situations, and I figured ismilealot might appreciate it.

Lol, sorry, Should have made it clearer. I'm not really looking for anything as much as Jane is still straining and listening. She is very young after all and most unsure of the world around her. So, she is watching everything extremely carefully, and that would include her future teammates as she doesn't know them at all. I debated even rolling for it as it really isn't even something I'd need to roll for. I already know most of that OOC. But, as my teammates might want to add, or subtract info that they'd like me to edit my post for, I thought I'd give them an easily accessible roll to reference. I probably should have let you know that I'm a bit of a nightmare to deal with as a player and most DM's have trouble with me, before you allowed me in your game and even waited for me to make a char. If I'm being to much trouble to manage just let me know.

Seriously. The only thing approaching "problematic" so far was almost running away from the game, and we were able to accommodate that fine.

As far as your last post goes, all I'd change is that you should make sure you say what skill you're rolling and why. "almost there" or "raising the stakes" tells the GM nothing.

"almost there (Perception on Ace)" would be very helpful, for example.

Ok :) (Although it is a description of what I'm doing. It's on the colorful metaphor side of what I'm doing. A description of the roll so that the GM can check my stats is I'm sure quite a bit more helpful.)

Yeah, in this situation in particular, either of those rolls could have easily been judge intentions, perception, or assensing. A quick note of the skill is really useful.

Bah, German is only your character's second language. The occasional phrase here or there should be fine.

Me, I took Welsh as native, English as learned. I need to add some more welsh sayings to my repertoire. Greetings and such.

Just wanted to give you a heads up GM just in case you were waiting for Jane's yea/nay on the job that she's really just going to sit there listening the entire time. Everyone at the table should simply forget she's even there. Sum total of her size, her stillness, her blandness and the focus on Ace and the job.

We should also ask time frame, any other competition that might want the crates that we should be aware of and set-up of the vehicle. Is it rigged for large weapons? drones? faraday cage? Is he confident enough of the pick-up point not to want us to check the boxes for anything specific on the outside? Hidden storage on the vehicle that could be used for weapons?

Frankie's interested in the job and just wants to take a look at the maps and data. If Aces wants to stick around to see if he has any follow up questions, that'd be nifty, but Frankie's definitely taking this job.

Instead of finding your target's location, you accidentally transmit your location to the target, along with a detailed account of the job you're doing, and why they're being targeted. Whoops.

Perception? Do you mean Judge Intentions? Or opposed Con maybe? Not sure what Perception would give us.

I'll also note that I'm off to home from May 24th (this Saturday) to June 8th, also for a wedding. That said, I should be able to post most days, except maybe the 24th, 31st, and 8th. (I'm working through the trip, so I'll be online basically every day.)

Post by: ismilealot on <05-21-14/1756:42>
Sorry, Perception check is a D&D term. Opposed Con or Judge Intentions would both be fine. Either way it's mostly just a "Covering my bases." check in case the GM wants to tell us something. We know we're taking the job. We know Ace is our fixer. But, I assume that we get no info if we don't ask questions and check things.
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: ve4grm on <05-21-14/2002:47>
Gotcha. D&D is my background, too, but even then I think more of Insight or Sense Motive, depending on edition. No worries, though.

You're probably on the right track with the questions you're asking. Personally, though, I'm alright with not knowing everything before we go. I like to learn on the fly sometimes. And no, it doesn't always work out in my best interests. :-)

For me, nailing down every single detail before a run is a lot like searching every foot of every hallway for traps in D&D. It's probably the best idea, but it feels overly paranoid sometimes. I'm fine with someone in the party doing these things, but they aren't where my mind tends to go. Just not my playstyle.

That said, I'm very happy to have the analytical, cautious Twisted Sister filling that role for us.
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: Moneyspider on <05-21-14/2138:15>
Also both Ace and I want you guys to work out some of the details yourselves. Asking questions is great but the actual planning is up to you guys, and what you plan is gonna rely heavily on information you can gather yourselves and how you adapt that plan. I will get back to Phan05 on your matrix search but here's a gimmi seeing as how it's an Aztec Farm, there's probably not gonna be a lot of info on the public grid and even on the Aztec Global grid any meaningful data is probably gonna require more then just a quick search.
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: p1erx0R on <05-21-14/2150:25>
Well i rolled because i figured exactly that money. A corp owned farm wouldn't exactly be like looking up the hours of a nearby snackshack. I probably wouldn't roll that because anyone with a commlink or deck could find that info i'm sure.. The roll is to represent a bit of digging and complex searching. Unfortunately i only got 1 success the second time, so what he discovers is up to you of course.

Also unless I'm mistaken info on the matrix is stored no matter what grid your on. The grid is just how your accessing the matrix, right? Unless you mean host?

(and side note, not sure it's on my char sheet but he'd be on the seattle grid. )
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: ve4grm on <05-21-14/2316:06>
p1erx0R - The info is available, but see SR5 p.241, info on another grid is a -2 penalty to matrix searches.

That said, matrix searches are extended tests, so given some time, you might hit the required threshold.
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: p1erx0R on <05-22-14/0108:23>
Yup crossing over grids imposes penalties. But the matrix itself is one unit is what i mean. Grids are just how you access it.
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: ve4grm on <05-22-14/0213:20>
No, man. It actually says that information can be stored on a different grid, making it harder to find. This is separate from, say, hacking across grids. So when he Moneyspider says any meaningful info would be on the Aztechnology grid, you take that -2 to find it with matrix search.

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you had asked.

And just to make it clear Moneyspider I really didn't expect you to give us anymore info than what you already had. And I rather expected a bit of GM annoyance at the questions actually. As far as I see it, the only thing Jane really needed to do in this storyline so far was get to the meeting. Everything my miserable little dwarf has said, done, asked and rolled that wasn't, "Ok, I go with the watcher to the meeting." has been completely unnecessary. And that includes all those questions, because Smiles was reasonably sure the GM had already given what he was prepared to give. As you said, the rest comes from IC searches of matrix data. But Jane is quite determined not to lose another crew, and she trusts no one, so, not only is she going to ask, she's going to check. You will definitely rue the day you said yes to Twisted Sister , hopefully she doesn't completely suck the fun out of the game for everyone because like yourself Ve4grm, I hate checking every foot of corridor with a 10 ft pole.

I hope I didn't slow things down too much with my absence.

Frankenstein is basically proposing that the team A) stops at his place so he can pick up his weapons, including a rifle (I figure if we get caught with a bunch of explosives than KE will barely give a crap about an AK) and B) just hit the checkpoints and wing it. Frankenstein might be a big dumb brute in a lot of ways, but with 90% bioware implants, tailored pheromones 3, and halfway decent social skills, he's pretty much built for "social infiltration" as a secondary.

Jane, I'd suggest editing your post to not leaving just yet. Seeing as how the team hasn't made any arrangements, or exchanged comcodes, or actually have a plan. If you want out of the game just let me know.
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: ve4grm on <05-29-14/1609:24>
Hmm? I thought that the exchange of commcodes was implied. Also that "meet at 4:30 at the pickup site after the legwork has been done" was going to be the current plan.
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: ismilealot on <05-29-14/1652:40>
Which was what I thought as well. I can edit my post, just let me know what you'd prefer. I simply thought my current post accepted the plan. It is after all a nice, simple, sensible plan that works with the data you've given us. I liked it.  I'll admit that when I read you're request, especially the, "If you want out of the game just let me know." I was confused.  I really thought that my post made it clear that I had accepted the plan. Then, when I got home from work I re-read it and I think I know where your confusion came in. "She leaves the concert and hails a taxi for home not liking the thought of walking home in the dark alone." It was the last sentence. I should have added "for a nap before the job" Jane, the character is very conscientious and knows she needs to be fresh, and the venue of the concert would make her very nervous anyway. Smiles, the player, liked the plan and thought she'd made that clear with "So she'd better keep her mouth shut and just ride along and make the cred. "Ok" she said." I didn't add more to that sentence because the character doesn't know the others to let them know her plans. She's a dejected little ball of seventeen year old angst atm after all. But, having lived through my children's teen pouting I don't feel the need to live through Jane's as well. Sorry for the confusion.
Title: Re: [OOC] Find a Crew, Find a Job, Keep Running
Post by: Bewilderbeast on <06-03-14/0203:03>
I too thought the exchange of commcodes was implied. I'm in favor of moving on and letting people do their separate legwork, while the team plans and coordinates over the Matrix. My point is I don't think we have any more question for Aces, and I don't think Frankenstein would be interested in checking out the concert. So might as well exchange commcodes and go our separate ways until "showtime."
