Title: Player Made Gear
Post by: shadowwoelf on <04-18-14/1946:26>
I just wondering what crazy gear have you guys thought up while on the run, or that should be in the book?

-Armored chameleon backpacks
Useful for any shadowrun that wants to keep a larger arsenal or "liberate" more things.

-Electrified Blades
You'd think by now someone would have attached a couple batteries to the blades. Overcharging the blades could also result in a nice heated blade to slash people with.
-You could carry around a cryo backpack that chills the sword through tubing, but you better hope it doesn't get damaged.

-Nanotube blades
Allow the user to inject chemicals into opponents.

-Monowire Belt/Bracelet.
Need a quick escape? Tie the belt/bracelet to something sturdy and hold on to the only safe part of it while you jump out the nearest window.

Insane weaponry that will get the entire state after you:
Monofilament Spin Grenade.
The grenade spins and releases the monofilament. whip in an uncaring whirlpool of destruction.

Monofilament Grenade Trap.
Throw this in a room. The grenade shoots barbed Monofilament strands into the room. Great for preventing security from following you.

So what gear have you imagined?

I'm usually too busy earning points of notoriety just for the ideas I come up with using existing gear, but I have a couple items I have pondered.

Dance Party IC
Special IC designed so that, if it strikes you enough times, it makes your physical body start dancing. This in no way impedes your ability to jack out and in no way negatively affects any aspect of your Matrix usage. Usually found accompanying Black IC in systems requiring a wired connection to hack.

Combustion Commlink
This is a commlink with a persona program that begs for help. By all appearances, two-way communication has not been enabled and a button has to be pressed to activate it. Whenever someone touches it to answer, it explodes.

Johnny Appleboom
These are specially-designed plastic explosive grenades designed to look, feel, and smell like apples. Whenever someone bites into one, it explodes.

Hot Knife
This is a flamethrower that comes standard with an underbarrel chainsaw.

Needle Grenade
This grenade is a specially-designed fragmentation grenade that is designed to unleash needles loaded with drugs or toxins instead of shrapnel.

Party Favor
A grenade that is actually a specialized alchemical item; tossing it at people causes it to summon an elemental where it strikes.

Mindfragger
This is a grenade loaded with what amounts to a very sticky glue. It also includes a small power source and a loud music player that only plays "It's A Small World After All" on endless repeat once the grenade has unleashed the glue.

Subtle Salesman
As Mindfragger, except it plays ads to encourage you to buy products from a particular company.

Mercy
This is, basically, a shotgun taser. Multiple darts at once, all wired, all unleashing electricity into the poor sap(s) you shot until you let go of the trigger or the battery runs dry.

Allow me to direct you to the thread I made, (http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=14992.0) though I'll post the "finalized" stats here.

NAME                | ACCURACY      | REACH     | DAMAGE      | AP  |AVAIL | COST
Electrified Knife | 5                     | -              | (STR+3)P(e)| -4   | 10R   |1600¥

Has 10 charges, with a wireless bonus of being able to recharge slowly over time.  Without a charge, it's stats are identical to a combat knife.

I Realy like player made stuff and i am kind of sad no one has actualy done anything with it in this reguard. I mean the most is maybe a custom weapon or two. Most gm's forbid the creation
of content.

CRBG:
A in essence a rail driver(since shadowrun is no longer cyberpunk lets put scifi in) made for Going through verticals and buildings its an anti vechcial weapon but it overheats constantly and
has on several occasions exploded.

Another item that would be fun to use:

Werewolf Syndrom
SR4 has Carcerands which is a time release agent for most drugs. Inject the user with laes in the Carcerands. The Carcerands will dissolve every full moon (Up to a year) with the user blacking out and having no memory exactly when the moon is full. OR I suppose you could just use it to make someone go slowly insane, or have them miss an entire year of their life.

Post by: Namikaze on <04-19-14/0112:57>
The carcerands only dissolve once, and last up to 1 year.  The laes only affects the last several hours.  Sorry to burst your bubble.

You could inject them with multiple doses, each configured to a separate full moon.

In a play-by-post here on the forums, I recently was allowed to put a micro-sized Trid Projector on a Fly-Spy, so my Rigger can attend physical meetings, shall we say, virtually.

I may do something similar with Firebug, because that's probably the only way she's getting into a club or some fancy place to meet a Mr. Johnson.

Just remembered another idea:

Nanosmoke Grenades
Have the nanites form various humanoid shapes in the smoke allowing your team to escape.

Nanosmoke... yes.  Consider yourself shamelessly plagiarized.

I'm not sure anything with "nanite" or "nano" in the name will be a good idea in 5th, though.

I'm working on a Run and gun companion that will have some non AAA-made shadowrunning gear, along with pictures.  If any of you guys want your stuff added, you can drop it here or PM me.  I have decided to call it the Weapons World AmmoNation Arms Expo 2071 (because you always bring the new stuff in before the old year is done.

In my catalog... (loosely patterned after the old Street Samurai Catalog)

Rising Sun Armories - Making old weapons new again!

Lianhua Arms - The absolute cheapest AK knock-offs and pistols to flood street markets.  They're so stripped down, they don't even have safeties!

Aegistar - though technically now owned by Ares, their merger did not go through before they were invited to the Expo.  Aegistar makes high-end personal body armor for the discerning professional.

Moleculite - Practical consumer nano-made products, such as the nanochute and monosilk, which protects against monofilament attacks.

and many more!

If you want in, you don't have to provide pictures, and if you want your real name tacked on to the entry, you should probably PM that to me as well.

Claymore Heavy Armor.

Take Milspec armor.

Add 12 claymore mines. 4 front, 4 back, 2 on each side (hip, shoulder).

Throw on the Physical adept, have him charge that SWAT team.....

Someone in a PbP that failed to really go anywhere built a gasmask or respirator with modified canisters that, in addition to their regular use, had doses of inhalation vector drugs installed. I thought that was pretty awesome.

Here's the thread/idea in question. He rolls to make it sometime later. Pretty neat! http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=12086.msg223178#msg223178

Or that the corp uses against you.  I had a facility with a hallway akin to this once in 1st or 2nd.  Monowire "fan blades" up from floor in a random pattern if you tripped the system.  After you crossed that, two pop up turrets made you want to run back through.

That was actually a thing in SR4.

Quote from: Arsenal p80
Inhaler: Drugs that must be smoked or inhaled typically do long-lasting damage to the respiratory system. Inhalers bypass this risk by injecting a concentrated mist of the pharmaceutical directly into the user’s lungs. Inhalers were picked up commercially as a “safe” medium, first for prescription drugs and then for tobacco, marijuana, and recreational drugs. Inhalers may be incorporated into respirators at no cost, and many drug users choose this option.

I planned out an alchemical version of this, kind of.  A smooth 5 pound weight as the lynchpin for a poltergeist preparation, a 1 pound weight, and a monofilament wire connecting them.  Poltergeist can only pick up things under about 2 pounds, so the base stays (mostly) stationary while the smaller weight gets whipped around.

I made a few vehicles to patch the holes I saw in that section of the 5E core book. Two, in fact.

1: GMC Corvette 2074: 95,000 nuyen (Handle: 5/3, Speed: 7, Acceleration: 3, Body: 9, Armor: 6, Pilot: 3, Sensor: 4, Seats: 2, Availability: 11)
Sleek, fast sports car based on the car built roughly 80 years prior, it is popular with corporate wageslaves who hit a midlife crisis, and street racers. Also popular with runners who need serious speed on something of a budget.
Alt: Saeder-Krupp Bentley Blitzkrieg, Ford Mustang 2071

2: Evo Hittite: 31,000 nuyen (Handle: 4/4, Speed: 4, Acceleration: 2, Body: 12, Armor: 12, Pilot: 1, Sensor: 3, Seats: 7, Availability: -)
Note: Fold down backseat to increase storage space, but lose 3 seats.
The most popular SUV on the market. Even though nearly every adult works (well, SINners, chummer) the concept of the "soccer mom" (or dad) has yet to die out. It's also good for carpooling! And getaways, omae!

They probably aren't all that appealing, but I felt like it.

Magnetic Mine (I prefer to think of it as a flat grenade)
-Throw it at the mech that is chasing you down, and hope that you're not wearing metal. Also useful for tanks.

Quote from: SR4 War, pg. 157
Monofilament Grenade: This grenade is similar to a fragmentation grenade. Rather that a fragmenting shell, however, it is built with hundreds of meters of monofilament wound around the exploding core, lashing out in several pieces and all directions on detonation. Damage from a mono lament grenade is resisted with Impact armor. (8P, AP -4, -3/m)

Huh, interesting. Thanks for the link. I haven't read all the SR4 books so some of these may already exist.

I've had ideas for some unique bioware. With sincere apologies to anybody who knows dick-all about biology, anatomy, and science in general.

Cross-Dominance Booster
Cultured grey matter growths implanted along your corpus callosum allow you increased fine motor control with your non-dominate hand. After a short "re-training" period, you enjoy cross-dominance with both hands in what is commonly called "ambidexterity." You gan the Ambidextrous Positive Quality.
Suggested Essence Cost: .2 Essence
Suggested Nuyen Cost: 10,000 nuyen

Adaptive Perspiration
A combination of light brain-altering bioware and synthetic, vat-grown eccrine glands grants you both an improved perspiration system and conscious control of your sweat glands. You are capable of producing more sweat than the average person of your metatype, and can begin or halt its flow at will. Excessive perspiration grants you a +1 bonus to Escape Artist checks, helping you to slide through restraints or tight spots. Being able to instantly dry your flop-sweat also grants you a +1 Social Limit.
Unfortunately, your enhanced sweat glands require a lot of water, giving you a -1 penalty to Survival tests involving the conservation of water or dealing with extreme heat.
Suggested Essence Cost: .1 Essence
Suggested Nuyen Cost: 10,000 nuyen

Anti-Lactic Enzymes
Special subdermal synthetic glands secrete an enzyme that helps your muscles recover more quickly from extertion. You gain +1 to your Physical Limit to all tests made in the Athletics skillgroup. When you do over-extend yourself, these special enzymes can help you bounce back quicker. You gain a +2 bonus to healing checks to recover from Fatigue damage.
Suggested Essence Cost: .1 Essence
Suggested Nuyen Cost: 6,000 nuyen

Feel free.  But the really evil one is the glass jar full of razors with a poltergeist prep in one...
