Looking for some ideas on how to pick a fight with the PCs in upcoming Run. I want this run to be full of action, especially since last couple runs the PC's managed to avoid all but one bar fight.
The characters are going to be going to Body Mall near Glow City, then going to Touristville. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out good way for Gang to pick a fight with the runners. The team consists of a Troll Physical Adept, a Human Ex-Lonestar Cop, a Human Technomancer/Rigger who just got his Control Rig Echo, and a Street Shaman (She is making her character tomorrow, I'm not sure what race)
An encounter I've been thinking about doing, is gangers pretending to be KE, pull over the runners then try to rob them. So any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks )

oh man, so many options!
have any of your chars taken the "enemy" negative quality? (is this sr4a?) if so, they could cross paths in a fuel station (have the runner's vehicle be running on near-empty as they set out).
This could end up all hollwood-'splosion style if you want it to, or i've seen in the book missions the runners get chased down by a go-gang breaking in their new recruits on an induction ceremony (have to drive someone off the road to be inducted into the gang; gives options for car chases and the team leaning out of the window popping away with pistols etc).
If they're in a club, have an incredibly gorgeous girl catch your face's eye and then have the jealous bodybuilder boyfriend + his pals "re-educate" him on where to point his beady little eyes in future.
heh, i dunno, i can think of loads of ways runners can get in trouble, hell, spill the wrong persons drink in the wrong kind of bar and it'll end messily for all.

Any street gang might pick a fight just because a few of their members are looking for one.
They don't really need to even start a barfight, just have one start and get them caught in the melee.
Have they screwed anything up for any corporation or criminal syndicate? Those groups may send another runner 'kill team' after them.
With your non-human PCs there's an old standby: racists like the Humanis Policlub.
Have the cops find their hideout and raid the hell out of it, finding their illegal/restricted gear, burning their SINs, and forcing them to fight their way away from an arrest! (Only use if you're really desperate to get them into a fight.

"Hoi, drekhead, you want to cross our turf, you have to pay the toll."
"What's the toll?"
*points to the troll" "One of his horns."

If you want to pick a fight that will last for a long time, all you nee is a minigun, a bunch of capsule rounds, and water from inside the nearest sewer.
One barrage and a fight is permanently picked. If you string out how many of the gang members you kill, you can avoid being bored for weeks!
Excellent idea for downtime for when the mage is busy initiating.

An ex-Lonestar cop?
Ganger: "Hey... I recognize him! You're that drekkin' pig who busted me 6 years ago for pushing BTL's. Spent 3 years in jail because of you, you slotting drekhead. Ain't got any other piggies and shiny drones backing you up now, eh?"

How much Karma does your group currently have?

As fun as this hook is, it reminds me completely of the following quote:
"For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday"
-
That would imply he remembers what day it happened, though.
-
How much Karma does your group currently have?
14 each, New girl that is playing shaman has none.

"For you the day I sent you to jail was the most important day if your life but for ne it was a day ending in Y."

Even more evil...
"Busted you for BTLs six years ago? Could you narrow it down a bit? I busted a lot of people for BTLs back then. See, we were short of funds and selling both the BTLs and all of their belongings to make up the shortfall.
Wait, assigned only three years? You must have been one of the ones we confiscated a car from! We were testing out a new brand of explosive ammo..."
-
That would explain why he's an EX cop.

... Why shouldn't the new character get the same Karma as everyone else has? This really isn't a good precedent.

She just started playing, I'm helping her make her character today.

My point is that new characters ina running game should be awarded the Karma everyone else has.
-
Don't underestimate the glitch/critical glitch factor -- not as good in a linear mission/game, but if you have a 'gang encounter' ready to drop in to a situation, you can have some fun.
That's how our last bar fight started.... ;)
And why stick with just one gang; the other fun option is turf war at the Body Mall! ;D Never underestimate wrong/place wrong time and Murphy's law!

Health specialization? Double down with Bear for mentor choice! Extra damage resistance would come in handy against getting shot with that low body and a "Geek the mage first" mentality going around.
That's a rather low charisma for a shaman. Might want to take some points from reaction/agility to beef that up, can't ever have enough drain resist. Would also help with Bear in resisting the berserking since he/she (it?) already has a substantial willpower would make it 1 dice short of the player trying to justify buying hits for it. Would also be useful for mitigating the chances of Social Stress-induced Etiquette glitches seeing as how Etiquette is already very low.
Shaman's don't have access to fire spirits in the tradition so I don't know if that affinity would be useful. Maybe beasts instead since that's the combat version (unless it's more a fear of the burnies from said elementals).
...
Ugh, where the...wait, this isn't the Critique forums! Every time a statline is shown....
