Hoi chummers,
I'm looking for a smallish team of players to run a shortish game (possibly longer depending on how well things go) and I'm gauging interest. I've got a bit of experience with tabletop games as a player in D&D 3.5 and 4E. I've also just started playing a Shadowrun 5E game which is a blast. I have very limited DM experience, having only run a few D&D one shots with friends.
I've played various RPG's in person and online using both voice and text. As my first PbP game I was hoping to jump in as a player, however spots seem to be very much at a premium here.
I'm looking for around 4-5 players, probably looking to run street-level and using only the core book as I currently don't have Run and Gun. There's also the added benefit of keeping things as simple as possible for me. Ideally I'd like at least a post a day, though I'm more flexible on weekends. Also players that at least know a little about the SR5 rules would be preferred, I'm still learning myself and it would be a great help to have a couple of players that are more experienced than I am if I have any questions.
Leaning more toward black trench-coat opposed to pink mohawk, my idea of an ideal run is one where no bullets are fired.
Post up your concepts and if there's enough interest I'll get something started over the next few weeks.
Shoot if you have any questions!
Edit:
Here are the rules we are using
Street-Level play
Modify the resources column on the Priority Table as follows:
Priority A: 75,000 nuyen
Priority B: 50,000 nuyen
Priority C: 25,000 nuyen
Priority D: 15,000 nuyen
Priority E: 6,000 nuyen
Karma: Each player receives 13 Karma to customize characters
(maximum of 26 Karma).
Gear Restrictions: Device Ratings must be rated at 4 or less.
Maximum Availability is limited to 10 or less.
Nuyen Restrictions: Characters may only convert up to 5
Karma into nuyen (10,000 nuyen).
Follow all other rules for Character Creation/Advancement
as laid out in this chapter.
The only houserule is that a decker or rigger can spend an additional 5 karma for nuyen
Current Interest: (Let me know if you think the role I've listed is incorrect)
Celtibero: Kitty - Decker
SlowDeck : Trance Virgo - Hermetic Mage/Face
Poindexter : DuckDown - Rigger/Face
Tenlaar : Cheshire - Mage/Illusionist
reyjinn: Slim - Gunbunny
Tiamut024 - Gunbunny

I'm in! I'll have a mage statted up quickly enough.
Depending on how many people are awake tonight, this may be filled by morning.

Wow! That was stupidly fast! I'll definitely keep you in mind. I'm more interested in character concepts at this stage, we can work out stats, etc later.

I'm looking at the idea of a stealth mage who has Dragonslayer as a mentor spirit and a moral code related to not killing noncombatants. Definitely would have stun spells ready in case they're needed.
-
I'd jump in as well. I've been kicking around an idea for a mage myself that is made for black trench-coat that I should be able to make easily enough. A dwarf who's mother was a student of literature. She would often read her favorite book to him, Alice in Wonderland. Regularly teased by children more interested in physical pursuits (and much larger!), he grew to idolize the Cheshire Cat and how easily he could vex anybody and escape danger. It developed into a bit of an obsession and he went on to adopt the persona as his cover in the shadows - Physical Mask spell to make himself look like ol' Cheshire, primarily moving through a sustained Levitate spell on himself (Force 6 levitate moves at over 6 feet per second), and an almost short-sighted focus on illusion and manipulation magic.

Sounds like it could be a good fit. Do you have any experience playing SR5?
-
If there's still room, i'd LOVE to play!
-
I was thinking of a young, idealistic musician, looking for ways to stick it to the man and make a decent living for himself.
Hadn't really thought of what role he'd fill, but i haven't made the character yet, so i could make him fill any role, really.
-
nevermind. i've started making him and he's an ork face.

Playing? Not really. Single minor game outside of this site, but that group hasn't been able to meet again since then. We did prove that Exotic Weapon (Metahuman) is an overpowered skill.

Ha. Was it a troll swinging a dwarf? Tell me it was troll swinging a dwarf.

Sadly, not yet. The dwarf adept was knocked out by a lucky shot from an elf ganger. It was, however, a troll swinging an elf...
-
Bah, silly troll. Everybody knows dwarves have more muscle density.

I've got a human b&e that i have been wanting to play
-
For street level I'd love to play a mundane gunbunny, probably human and not with any cyber (yet at least). Would need to give some thought as to whether he is an aspiring Street Sam or more of a merc.
Don't have much experience myself of shadowrun but that just means the gm can handwave some rules without protest ;)

This sounds like it could be a fun idea :) Solo musician? Part of a band? So you have any experience with SR5?

Always nice to at least have a little muscle! Could I get a little more info on the concept?
-
the concept of my B&E is he is what is left of a a 3 man team of brothers. he is not the survivor but literally what is left. there last run was not the milk run they were expecting the old lad was not willing to give up it's secrets without a fight and when it won it went about taking them apart and putting then back together more "efficiently". thankfully he escaped. the brothers managed to get a few things ready before a new persona took over, it believing it is there 4 bother as all its memory are a blurred mix of all three that got mixed up and blamed for a school shooting (he and none of the brothers have ever been there he just saw it in the news and added it to his memory) before getting hit by a truck, thus explaining his scars and leaky memory and hallucinations when he forgets to take his meds.
i am thinking of making him an aspected mage. his street name is Ragdoll or Florida man

Whether he's in a band or looking for one depends on how many points i end up blowing on contacts.
I have a decent amount of exp with 5th ed, but not near as much as some people on this board.
I have been roleplaying for about 27 years now, if that helps.
i fell asleep at the computer last night and didnt finish him. im at work now, but ill finish him up when i get home.

I'll have my mage posted later tonight ^^

I do like the concept, do you think you can make it work at street-level? Sounds like a good concept for B&E as well.
Shouldn't be a problem making him street-level at all. Would most likely end up at E resources anyway, so it's just less karma to spend. Really I'd just have to start with Focused Concentration for levitate and one low Force sustaining foci for physical mask, and I'd just deal with -2 dice if I really need to have invisibility going AND cast another spell all at the same time.
And yeah, you're right on the B&E aspect. Since, as far as I'm aware, levitating around makes no sound, I picture him doing a lot of stuff like using Trid Phantasm to make a group of gangers go investigate something on the left while he floats in from the right with invisibility on. Floating through a building along the ceiling. And one of my personal favorite mental images, starting fights between enemies with Magic Fingers. "If you flick my ear ONE MORE FRAGGIN' TIME!"
When are you thinking about getting started? I tend to obsess over details during character creation.
-
I'm really tempted to make this dude rank d adept, JUST so i can astrally percieve. I really hate having an entire dimention of the gameworld locked off to me, y'know?
-
Why stop at astrally perceiving? It sounds like your guy would fit perfectly with some ranks of Voice Control, and Kinesics certainly wouldn't hurt.
-

well, with magic d, ill have 2 points to spend. 1 on astral perception. so that would leave me another point to play with...
-
I'd probably go with two ranks of Voice Control, then. If you get the Impersonation skill you can use it to fool people or voice recognition, and it would add 2 to your social limit.

i really hadnt thought of this guy as frontman material, but the upped social limit is HUGE. maybe i should re-jiggle this guy around some before i finalize anything.
im kinda glad i fell asleep at the computer. this is working out better.

am i too late to jump in?
character sheet and back story for evaluation:
Name - Caroline "kitty" Smith
Gender: F
Brief Background
From foster home to foster home to foster family, the list would probably go on, Caroline was (is) the epitome of a trouble child, some of the things she saw in foster care where enough to scare any person, although she outwardly tries to maintain a happy go lucky demeanour deep inside she hates with all her strength the abuse some people in the foster care "industry" (her words not mine) inflict upon children, they are just another pay-check, another number on the credstick to the foster families, they don't want to adopt you and make you part of the family, youre just one more asset to pay for the BTL's, drugs or whatever tickles their fancy. and there are even those scarier cases, of children simsense exploitations, she was lucky for not having encountered those.
She would probably be described as the scrawny smart kid, introspective, always looking for a (easy) way out, well things don't usually work out very well for kids on foster care, running away was almost a trademark of her, stealing what she could grab and wasn't nailed to the ground was another, getting away was not her best skill though, the services eventually caught up with her and the justice department did the same as soon as she turned forteen, B&E is considered a felony...so... graduation to juvie, one year. Juvie is to crime as High school is to life, there they do not reform you, Caroline really had issues with personal property boundaries, she did have a fair sense of conduct has she tried never to hurt anyone, but as far as property goes "Finders keepers!! hehe!", so, what do they teach in juvenile detention? they get you contacts, they provide a way for you to get more acquaintances in the street, they "teach" you how to disassemble a commlink, matrix theory is also a good subject, there are other "classes" , like fencing, mugging, con artistry, so its a junior high of crime pretty much.
There she met Amanda, she used to run with the Cereal Killers, she taught Caroline much of what she knew matrix wise, she was also two years older, in fact more experienced than Caroline. Eventually Amanda nearly got turned into a vegetable, no matter how much experience you have there is always someone out there that is a bigger fish than you are, mix with a good dose of overconfidence and the result in her case was too much damage to her brain, sometimes spiders spin their web and GOD just looks the other way, by the way, the pun was intended chummer.
So its true, Caroline did run with the Cereal Killers for a couple of years, when she got out of juvie she was sent to another foster family, its was the same drek all over, there isnt much to complain with the social workers that only want to dump you and there is nothing much to argue with the family that is all warmth and smiles until the social workers turn their backs, then its fastforward to half rations, take care of the other brats and dingy room shared with 5 other kids who have to make happy faces when the social workers come to have a visit. You΄ll be amazed what a bomb threat and a few gas home-made bombs can do, contact a chummer that knows his way around detonators (cheap thing to find really), place the thing when no one notices, make a couple calls, wait for people to leave, trigger it off, wait for the pawns to arrive (they never do) and for the fire dpt to come and put the flames, act all teary and innocent and bam! scot free and one more lousy couple out of business, what goes around comes around they say, and fyi no one got hurt luckily, even the cats and dogs where out of trouble (but they are usually wiser than us tbh).
So... where was i? yes Caroline running with Cereal Killers, she already knew her way around a commlink, she could disassemble one with you eyes closed, her first one (a nasty looking Meta Link that she attached a Hello kiity sticker on its back, she still has it somewhere around her backpack) got it coming more than a couple hundred times, so what next? pull a couple low time jobs and get yourself a datajack and a deck, even if its a crappy one . Erika MCD-1 is not much to go by, and at second hand rates it still does not cost you much, maybe that was the reason why Amanda loaned it to her, on the condition "if you break it you pay it". the Jack was even cheaper, although Caroline went for a superior job in a legitimate clinic, sweet piece of hardware, she still keeps it, even though she has an implanted Hermes chariot in her skull, she says that the bronze chrome jack looks good on her. Yes she was a natural, she had always been a smart kid to start with, she had always had a knack for assembling and disassembling stuff, so it was either go decking or go mechanic, she did go decking but that you already knew.
I was told to tell a brief story... but hey listen up chummer, you΄re certainly not wondering how she got her nickname, that's pretty obvious taking the Hello Kitty fixation she has, what you're probably wondering is why she carries that scruffy backpack wherever she goes, am i right? it was there (or so the social workers swear) when she got given to adoption, it did contain a letter and a bottle of formula, nothing much, when she got thrown around from family to family it went with her, she got into fights with other kids over it, it got lost twice and she always went to great lengths to recover it, she says its her lucky charm, my guess its the one piece of the family she never knew that she cannot part with, you make your own judgement mate.
so yeah, she goes all giggly and happy go lucky, she does brave it, but i guess you never had to ear the kids crying themselves to sleep, she did and she was one of the ones doing the crying. But pretty much things where all nice and spiffy with the Cereal Killers, she got a scooter which she had custom painted pink with HK motifs, she had the name painted on it キティ・ホワイト(Kiti howaito), the only reason (actually there where two) she had to cry about on that period was when Amanda got way over her head and nearly got turned (and that nearly was too close and she never came around) into a human cucumber. She still visits her though and does try to help her in any way she can, being one of the few persons she considers a friend.
since i have already told you this much I might as well tell you the whole story, the other reason she had to cry about at that time was because of Charlie, Charlie was a good looking kid, about 1 year older than she was, good looking, nice strong jaw, curly brown hair, green eyes, he really had the looks, as for the personality... well in the end he was a scum-bag in the making, but its like they say " If you love someone, you like virtually everything about him", thus i reckon she did not mind the fundamental flaws in him, not until she discovered he was two timming her with Jill, jill was also a member, and one of her friends, so what did you expect from those two kids? they got fitting over him, and guess what, he was like the king of the hill, besides cheating they still fought over who gets the spoils, the problem with smart kids is (and there are plenty of those in the Cereal Killers) is that somewhere along the line they eventually get smart over things, so lets make a long story short (shorter that is) and she did stop fighting and the guy ends up leaving the Killers. if they where friends then that just made the friendship stronger, and as they say, one thing leads to another and they eventually hit it of with each other, they actually ended together (in more than one sense if you get my drift chummer). If you think this is starting to sound like a fairy tale in the making forget about it chummer, bad things happen to good people, and Caroline is one of them.
Thats the thing that actually leads to the ton of chrome in her, you know that toddlers and soykaf dont mix right? you if dont, you should, nasty bugger with hyperactivity, believe me, the same holds true to drugs and bikes (even if they are scooters), if you put Caroline (who is already, despite her childhood demeanour, a bit hyper) on Jazz or Kamikaze, what do you get? an accident in the making. that was just what happened, the next six months where a blank, broken bones, head trauma, internal bleeding. when a scooter (where your body is actually the fender) goes against a truck, the truck usually win, and that a pretty good resume of that fight, truck 1 - Caroline 0. The doctor did what they could, she barely made it, but the prognosis was that the head damage was extensive, so they reached out where they could, they pulled a cerebral booster out of a vat and tried for her brain to kick in on it to repair the damage done, the bones had to be laced due to the multiple fractures. but some good does come out in the end as they say, when she woke up from the coma six moths later, she was told the story, in a very brief period of recovery they also learned that the tissue repaired itself apparently (or maybe the damage was not so extensive as they thought) and that the booster was in fact what it was always meant to be, an add on, so it just added to her smarts and he just became a little tougher.
But not all ends well, certain thing do come at a price, and six months is a long time in the life of a 18 year old youngster, Jill was there at her bedside when she woke up, but so was Charlie 8and that was more of a shock than the fact that she had lost six months of her life and that she had nearly bought the farm in the scooter Vs Truck fight of the century. Apparently jill choose Charlie΄s arm to cry on, and things got on from there, to make it shorter you can imagine Caroline reaction to it, if she thought it hard to trust anyone those last events just gave her reasons to support that particular feeling. She did make it up with Jill, even if it hurt inside she could not stand not being friends with her, but things would never be the same between them, Charlie was back in the Cereal Killers and Jill was riding along with him the matrix flows, so that was the end of a chapter for Caroline.
this story actually has an interlude, or maybe its a prologue to a new chapter, anyways, they say you can never get enough of a good thing, right? i say that it depends on the good thing and its consequences. From Caroline's point of view the accident did show her plenty of things, for once maybe getting implanted was not so bad after all, her new left arm was a standard issue thing, not even synthetic, but it felt as good as had always been there, her body felt stronger, maybe she did not have to depend on others so much. and talking about other was probably what triggered her leaving the Killers, Jill had betrayed her, Charlie was back inside and although they had pulled some credits to patch her up it was not in her nature to be in a debt in that kind of situation, if she was to be in debt it would be on her terms. that's where Hioshiro queues in.
Hioshiro is a familiar face in Seattle, fencer, runs a pawn shop, some say he is a front man for the Yakuza, a front on a front, eh? So Caroline goes to him, the matters in the Killers still waiting to be resolved, and to resolve them she gets in debt, not just to pay for what they polled together but to get more chrome, a way for her to hit it on her own, to get up and running, i believe that deep inside she was still that scary kid sporting a shabby backpack, always looking over her shoulder to escape those trying to take advantage of her, she fought them, weather using her will, her guts or simply by outsmarting them, but its obvious one tires of being afraid, in some way i still think she is searching for her fairy tale, and hitting it on her own was just her best or only way to continue to search for the dream, the dream of finding her family, but that path usually brings more grief, trust me, I've been there and done that, Seattle is a mean step-mother.
(pending further back story)
Distinctive features: Bleached hair, red round glasses, leather jacket, hello kitty tattoo on the right temple dragon tattoo (on blue neon colour) on left side of the face (almost enveloping the datajack). Flowery pink dress with ruffled skirt and a Hello Kitty battered (and i mean battered) backpack.

Maybe that could be part of his "thing." He has the voice to be the frontman, but there's something else about him that keeps people from wanting him to be front and center? Or it could be a self-imposed thing, he has the chops but knows that too much exposure is going to hurt his career in the shadows and potentially expose him if he's linked to past close calls.

is it just me or did you spend WAY more money than you had?

Celtibero, is that a character that has been running awhile? Just asking because I'm curious about the deltaware...
-
That was a leftover from someone hypothetical tweaking in the excel sheet that ended in the post :) the sheet is workable (street lvl, etc etc) the background has not been grammar checked though.
-
For street level I'd love to play a mundane gunbunny, probably human and not with any cyber (yet at least). Would need to give some thought as to whether he is an aspiring Street Sam or more of a merc.
Don't have much experience myself of shadowrun but that just means the gm can handwave some rules without protest ;)
Always nice to at least have a little muscle! Could I get a little more info on the concept?
I was thinking a guy that spent his formative years in a gang but a coup by a bat shit crazy lieutenant soured him on that lifestyle. The lieutenant turned leader totally changed the way the gang worked, protection fees turned into violent extortion etc. The aspiring gunbunny managed to negotiate an exit fee with the understanding that he would stay the hell out of their turf or die. So he finds himself with little to no cash and being shunned by most of his old contacts. Turning to shadow work seemed to be the best of his poor options.

My ork probably knows you or at least knows OF you, as he's going to have lots of connections with and knowledge of local gang culture.

Yeah, if he's connected he'd probably have heard of it. Can't decide though if the gang would want this exile to be really discreet or very very public. Seems like it would be either or with nothing in between.

Posting stats and history tomorrow. Somewhere along the line, I got tired enough that my math got creative and I have no idea where the screw-up started.
As it stands, I either have a character who has been running since 1887 or unified field theory.

Kalarin. Were you thinking about using the street scum rules (BCDEE or CCDDE priority array) or the street level rules from the chargen chapter (that only cut down on starting karma and cash)?

This is actually a really good point... I need to think about this a little. Anyone have thoughts? I do quite like the idea of BCDEE at least.... I am wondering how much this is going to screw with any of the concepts that have been posted already :(
I was hoping to post more today though I got swamped with work and I have another few more hours at least. Once I'm done I'll post something a little more substantial. I'll also spend the time to read through the sheets that have already been submitted.
-
if you are changing the priority array i would say that would change everyone's characters a lot, that said it would be more fair for money characters. i will hold off making my dude until you decided my vote is for BCCDE
-
My 2 cents are for BCDEE/CCDDE (being able to choose either one).
-
If you ladies and gentleman are looking for anymore I have been eyeing this thread, if you have room I can whip up a character relatively quickly, I have plenty of concepts to use. Just going to wait for the go ahead before I start posting any character sheets. Also going to wait for confirmation on any custom chargen rules as posted previously!
-
i'd prefer regular ol street style with abcde, if possible.
-
BCDEE would make thing quite interesting but after looking at the sheet "kitty" would absolutely need for ABCDE to function, in alternative i had a character in my head, a technomancer, hispanic Origin, he came to Seattle with his mother, she was a researcher for a AA corporation, her research was purely scientific and wanted to help mankind, she died before completing it, the research was however used for military purposes by Ares after buying the smaller corporation, when his kid sister needed help with the treatments (as she was hill) the corporate gave them (Miguel and his sister Maria) the finger. disgruntled with how Ares behaved, Miguel dropped out of med school in order to work to pay for the treatments. it would probably go on, by i am aiming for a anacho-communist on a warpath versus the corporations.
-
i can make the face work on another layout if i need to. He probably just wont be an adept, is all.
-
I'd prefer to stick with street-level with ABCDE. It saves me from confusing myself.

me too
-
I kind of prefer normal street level rules myself, but that's mostly because I've really come to like making my characters stat-heavy at the start. Like, A or B in attributes so that they really don't need to worry about boosting stats any for a loooong time and can focus on skill development as their main progression.
That said, I can work with whatever you decide I'm sure. It will just make me stare at the character sheet for a while longer trying to get it how I want it.
-
My biggest issue at this stage is that no one is interested in playing a Rigger or Decker, which I can understand due to the decrased nuyen. I'm wanting to run a lower level game with characters that are new running the shadows, not one where characters are decked out with up to 450k+ worth of augmentations and gear.
I'm happy to run ABCDE if that's what people want... I just feel anyone running a nuyen heavy character will be heavily gimped so I thought the alternative attribute array would make these characters a little more appealing.
-
in Kitty's backstory she is heavy in debt with the Yakuza, that was one of the explanations (even if it becomes a drawback to the player/character) i was going to use for her equipment.

Did you use street level rules for this character? Cerebal Booster 2 is avail 12 and a good chunk of your starting nuyen
-
no, i pretty much copy pasted it at the point where i had left her, the character can be tweaked to fit in street lvl, also the backstory might change somewhat to reflect that, but the concept is pretty much the same, what are your thoughts/opinions on her?

Yeah, I think the normal street level rules are pretty brutal towards nuyen heavy builds while being very forgiving for magical characters. Street scum rules offer more parity, I think.
Seems like the majority of the potential players in this thread are partial to ABC though.

History
Trance was one of the lucky ones; born to runners who actually were making a name for themselves, she was apprenticed to a hermetic friend of their's when she Awakened. For the most part, her life consisted of growing up, learning spells, arguing with her parents like a teenager would, being a brat towards her mentor on occasion when not running errands for him or learning magical power, and arguments with this strange voice in her head that insisted she actually go out and fight a good fight.
And then came her 18th birthday. A run had apparently gone wrong; she returned from gathering some magical supplies for upgrading her mentor's circle to find the shop on fire and her mentor gunned down. She rescued what she could of his library, but most of it was lost to the fire. Another check found her parents had suffered the same fate, leaving her without a home. She grabbed a bag her parents had asked her to put together, lamented her foolishness in not putting more of it, and fled to a different part of the city to start over.
She has almost no money, her fake SIN has been burned, her allies are dead, and her only contact is a fixer she met last week.
Morals
Even though she doesn't have a code of ethics she officially ascribes to, Trance does have certain boundaries she does not cross. She refuses to kill noncombatants or kill when it is not necessary. To her line of thought, an unconscious guard is less of a problem than a dead guard. She also refuses to harm children, and will not accept a job to get more employees for a bunraku parlor. However, it is possible she would ignore all of these restrictions if the victim was involved in killing her parents...

My biggest issue at this stage is that no one is interested in playing a Rigger or Decker, which I can understand due to the decrased nuyen.
Yeah, it's just too brutal on them. For a decker, you either have to take resources A to afford the first or second best deck with 17-25k left over, or resources B just to afford the cheapest deck with (literally) 500 nuyen left over.
If somebody was willing to take the role, I wouldn't feel slighted at all for them to get a free deck as a legacy item that doesn't count towards their resources. Matrix stuff is really the one area where I have focused little of my attention, I'm a magic man.
-
i can totally switch over to the rigger if no one else wants it. I might even could keep the concept the same.
Hell, i MIGHT could even keep the face role too. Only thing is, i'd have to either go "get away driver" or "aerial overwatch" for the rigger bit. probably won't be enough money for both.
I LOVE riggers.
ok, been workin on him and i can sorta make him work, sorta.
I think i can make him work well if ya lemme do another 5 karma to money.
mind if i do?
-
I know I'm not the GM, but I'm actually curious. I've been unable to get a rigger build to work at that amount. Even if you can't do it for this game, could you PM me the build?
-
Well, he aint pretty, and he aint got a weapon, but i made him work.
he'll be much better if i can get that extra 10,000...
-
I've got about an hour before I have to get back to doing some work. I'll read through the comments now and post some feedback.
Well, he aint pretty, and he aint got a weapon, but i made him work.

As we're going ABCDE I think that's a fair compromise. I wouldn't mind a decker doing the same also.
-
I also meant to ask, where is the story going to be located?
-
@Celtibero Keen to have you play, I like the backstory. Is the augmentation portion removed now you're more limited in resources, or did you want to change it slightly? I like that you're playing a decker, I know it's challenging with reduced nuyen.
The only other thing that sticks out browsing the character sheet is that street runners only get 13 karma to start with a max of 26 with negative qualities. As I said to Poindexter I'm also happy with you spending an extra 5 karma for nuyen, though it may be tough being over already.
@SlowDeck Keen for you too. Always good to have some magic. You've left me pretty open with the character concept too which may be fun. Also decent stats for a face which is useful.
@Pointdexter Rigger? Awesome! interested in the face portion too. Post up the character and backstory and I'm sure I'll be keen for you to join us. 27 years RP experience is a little intimidating! As I said I'm a new GM, though I'll do my best to run a fun game.
@reyjinn A little muscle is always good. I'm hoping for a game where shooting is more a last resort, a secondary role may give you more options. Post up a character sheet and story and I'll give you some feedback.
@Tenlaar I'm still interested to see the character sheet for your backstory. I'm a little hesitant on 2 mages though I do want B&E. As for location I'm want to keep the game rather localised to start, I was thinking of just sticking with Seattle as I don't really see much need to move the game elsewhere.
Also I would like to say that I'm interested in running a game where you're generally working toward the same goal. I don't mind conflict, just not interested in players ruining the experience for other players.
Also for those that have pbp experience, do you have any advice on running a smooth game? I see there's normally an IC and OOC thread, I'll likely use Invisible Castle for dice rolls. Anything else?
It will still take me a bit over a week to re-read the rules, sort out what I want to run and get organised to start. I still have a fair bit to learn.
-
I've got the actual character building part of things done and the story written in my head, just need to finish writing it down. It's been hard to find more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time to sit here today. The whole shebang will be up tomorrow.

I definitely know that feeling! it's 9:00pm here, I'll be working a few hours yet. No worries, just post it up when you can. I have a bit of prep ahead of me before I'm good to go.
-
I'll have a sheet and bit of story up later today, was just waiting for confirmation on which CharGen system would be used before I got into numbers crunching. I'll give a possible secondary role some thought when I get into skills allocation.
Giving a decker/rigger some (or a lot) leeway with regards to nuyen would be quite fair, I think.
-
I think that "Kitty" can function at least moderately well as a decker with standard street rules, it would not be a combat decker but that can be changed as time goes by, the character evolves etc etc, what i liked her most was the background, if the DM likes the concept/backstory and thinks that she can function appropriately in his campaign i would stand by the option to have her as an option for him to choose from. :)
-
@gazer Hmm I'm not sure that character will fit with the group I have in mind :( Do you have something a little less extreme? It looks like the group is filling fast. I'd probably run a max group of 6 players, preferably 4 or 5.
@Tiamut024 There are still potentially spots left if you want to throw a couple of basic concepts at me? Could make room for something awesome.
@reyjinn Even some B&E would be useful and easy enough with agility I'd imagine. It's only a suggestion to give you more things to do during the game.
@Celtibero I am not at all worried if you're not a combat decker, does the 5 extra karma for nuyen help at all? What about my previous comment about qualities?
Here's where we are at currently.
Submitted:
Celtibero: Kitty - Decker
SlowDeck : Trance Virgo - Hermetic Mage/Face
Poindexter : DuckDown - Rigger/Face
In Progress:
reyjinn: Gunbunny/?
Tenlaar : Mage/B&E?
Looking forward to a good game :)

Being a decker it helps her alot :) it gives the extra NuYen needed to have some of the basic equipment :D
ill clean the backstory later today, to fit the description (minor tweaking), but the idea is pretty much the same, she has taken some beatings from life, she tries to maintain a happy demeanour, she takes care of her friend (nearly a vegetable) that taught her the ropes (one of the reasons she left the Cereal Killers, ill include that in the background), she clings to her backpack as the only connection to the family she never knew, she has a problem with personal property (not entirely kleptomaniac, but she has no issues with stealing or taking advantage of other peoples property and/or cash, just a twisted sense of moral imo) and ofc she has that Hello Kitty compulsion.
All in all a good kid that takes advantage of any edge she finds, although she will not purposely hurt someone if she doesn't think they deserved it.
Possibly gonna take (if you're ok with it) the "Prejudiced - child molesters, people who take advantage of the defenceless, human exploitation/ radical" negative quality, as it surpasses the 25 negative karma, it would just stay at the limit (its for fluff reasons, i don't mind taking the drawback if it fits the character, but only if you're ok with that)

Decided to give him a BUNCH of secondary skills (2-4 points). Little bit of first aid, some social skills etc. So he can lend a hand in a lot of different situations but mainly he can pick up any weapon and use it to get you dead. Will post his sheet once I get on a computer.

Street-Level play
Modify the resources column on the Priority Table as follows:
Priority A: 75,000 nuyen
Priority B: 50,000 nuyen
Priority C: 25,000 nuyen
Priority D: 15,000 nuyen
Priority E: 6,000 nuyen
Karma: Each player receives 13 Karma to customize characters
(maximum of 26 Karma).
Gear Restrictions: Device Ratings must be rated at 4 or less.
Maximum Availability is limited to 10 or less.
Nuyen Restrictions: Characters may only convert up to 5
Karma into nuyen (10,000 nuyen).
Follow all other rules for Character Creation/Advancement
as laid out in this chapter.
Are these the current rules? So only +/- 13 points from qualities? Will work on a character now! Probably a Street Sam

isn't everyone prejudiced against those types of people?
I think NOT being prejudiced against slavers and rapists would be a 9 pt NQ called "No empathy"
-
well yes and no, while child molesters and abusers are reviled, not all forms are child abuse are on the hate list, take for instance kitty situation, most families that took her where just interested in the check at the end of the month, if one kid is good 10 kids are even better, being a dystopia the state closes its eyes (imo) even faster than it does today, as long as there are no great amount of complaints, and who is gonna complain? "Kitty" hates those types of situationm, at gunpoint if it needs be.
take another situation, using kids to sell drugs, commit robberies etc etc, while a gang of child criminals could be something she could ignore, a grown man taking advantage of those kids to further his goals would be something she would not ignore. and that would be the type of situation where some characters in the shadowrun world would not give a drek about.
edit: perhaps i should not have used the "molesters" in there, it was not the what i was trying to convey truth be told, hmm what would be correct term (according to this post/explanation)? abusers?

I have an NQ to add to my character sheet ^^ I was going to add the Code of Honor NQ until I saw it was two karma over the limit. Adding it without taking the karma benefit fits Trance perfectly ;D
-

Child exploiters.
-
hating exploiters feels more like prejudice to me.
hating molesters felt more like common sense.
would this include prejudice against ad campaigns and marketers/toy makers/trid producers that use unethical marketing strategies to make kids buy shit?
their employees? would you be like peggy's artist friends from mad med that immediately look down on her when they find out she works for an ad agency?
I kinda like this the more i think about it.
-
Here is a sheet, before I give him a name and go into knowledges and backstory figured I would wait to make sure it is approved and also find out what city we will be in as that would effect backstory/knowledges to. Kinda fun making a street samurai before he becomes a chrome monster, has a skillset still useful to black trenchcoat type play with 11 Sneak die and good visual mods. He would be one of the members of the team doing footwork for the plan when it is put into motion, more then willing to squeeze out more into social but we seem to have 2 hybrid faces, only worried about lack of Etiquette personally. No ID or Fake SIN with no Vehicle (loss of vehicle would be story related, plan to make him an ex go-ganger) can be a risk!

On Street level chargen you cannot receive more then 13 Karma from negatives I believe, unless I am mistaken. >.> Or did the potential GM give the go ahead? Also thank you for GMing, I do a weekly Skype game and it can be a labor of love or pain depending on your players :P

dangit, i thought i HAD it.

I made one final adjustment, in that I traded Blast for Ball Lightning. I was reading another thread on this site and it occurred to me that Ball Lightning would be a more useful spell. I should probably also have grabbed stabilize, but I figured that would be a spell she would pick up with experience.

History:
Though the earlier years were not always kind, Lutwidge had a good life ahead of him. His father died in an "incident" at a manufacturing plant when he was only 4. After his father's death, his mother threw herself fully into her true passion - literature. She opened an antique book store in their home town of Richmond, Virginia with a small apartment above it. It was a struggle for many years and the majority of the income came from locating books and brokering deals for collectors but she was able to provide a stable life for them. He attended school and spent his afternoons devouring book after book while his mother worked. In the evenings they would retire to the apartment where she would read to him some of her favorite pieces, often from her favorite author Lewis Carroll.
Things all changed when Lutwidge was 11. Small enough for even other dwarves to call a runt, he barely broke 3'5 and his stunted body made it very difficult for him to function in a normal sized world. He was a frequent target for bullying at school...until the day he awakened. One moment he was curled up on the ground being poked by laughing children, wishing some giant creature would just come and take them all away; the next moment he was hovering six feet off the ground and the children were fleeing in terror from the snarling Jabberwocky standing behind him.
The years became a blur after that. His mother found him a magic tutor. He showed an incredible natural aptitude for crafting illusions and soon he had the idea that would turn his mother's dusty little bookstore into a local attraction. She started to give readings of fantastical old stories, stories so old that very few people ever read them any more, and he made the stories come to life with his magic. He continued to hone his magical artistry and got accepted into the thaumaturgy program at Georgia Tech.
It was early in his second year when things all changed again. He came home for a visit a day earlier than his mother expected, planning to surprise her with the most elaborate illusion he could conjure to show her how much he had improved. She was arguing with a well dressed man. He couldn't hear the whole conversation but he got enough to realize that his mother had agreed to help smuggle something in order to pay for his education. This man, or people he worked for, had found out about it and were forcing her to pay for their silence. She kept saying that she just didn't have anything more, they had taken it all. The man pulled his arm back to strike her, and for the second time in his life it was as if the magic inside him acted on it's own while he watched helplessly. A bookcase slammed down on top of the man. His mother was lifted off the ground and pulled towards him. A dozen images of the two of them broke off and ran in different directions. Gunfire. Sparks. Flames.
If the man made it out of the building, they didn't see it. After a panic stricken night it was decided. His mother had friends with money and influence, collectors that she had worked with for many years. They could help her, and she could blend into a new life. Lutwidge, though, he was easy to spot when you were looking for him. He would have to go away. With little more than the clothes on his back, the few magical supplies he always kept on him, and the credstick with his food and recreation money for the rest of the semester he left the only home he had known.
Notes: So obviously this guy is at the very beginning of his career. His priorities are set up so that he won't mess with stats for a long time and his development will be primarily skill based. He's starting off VERY focused and I tried to keep street-level play in mind to keep myself from feeling the need to boost dice pools as much as possible. Besides his spellcasting he just has the skillset that I imagine a first year student of magic would pick up. His Performance skill and studies of motion (the Ken knowledge skills) are all about making his illusions as lifelike in appearance and movement as possible, and he often draws inspiration from very old fantasy novels. He is starting off with only his magic to aid him in B&E functions, but he will soon find that it's the most suitable role for him and invest in gaining some lockpicking and hardware skills. I am planning on keeping his agility at 1 as the character's major weakness. Once he begins to learn the skills he will be able to use Magic Fingers to do his lockpicking and hardware work, with hits on the spellcasting test becoming his effective agility.
My plan is that we'll be picking up when he has just recently arrived in Seattle, say a week or so. Just long enough to find a cheap motel to stay at and start to really panic about what the hell he's going to do now. I didn't fill in anything for the motel owner yet in case you (Kalarin) wanted to work him into your story in some way to connect Lutwidge with the rest.
Questions for Kalarin:
1. Do you have a problem with him using his Perform skill in conjunction with illusions? "Performance is a Simple Test with a Social limitthe gamemaster can use your hits to gauge the artistry of your performance." I was thinking how it could work is that he would make his normal spellcasting roll to make sure the target(s) don't resist, and if he's trying to get a more specific response he could roll Perform + Cha and have the hits act like a modifier to the effect of his illusion. Say I'm using a chick strung out on BTL to draw a ganger doorman from his post. The basic illusion might look real but he's not likely to risk the wrath from higher up for some junkie roaming by. But with 3 hits on a perform test she's got an appealing sway to her hips, her hands roaming in the right places, gyrating in just the right way as she half dances around the corner, a perfect "come hither" look on her face... you get the idea. I thought it could be interesting but I completely understand if you don't want to add extra stuff to deal with in, just let me know what you think. I can certainly find other places for those 5 skill points.
2. Right now he's in good legal standing as far as he knows, his reason for leaving town being something not likely to be taken to the cops. As he's been in a magical program at a major university, it only makes sense that he would be licensed to perform magic on his legit SIN (which is the only one he'll have at the start.) The book just says the details of obtaining such a license are up to the GM, so...what do you think? Should I throw the last bit of nuyen from creation towards his license fee or something?
Aaaand I think that's it for now. Whew.

#Story#
Growing up in Loveland on the western border of the Puyallup district and initiating into a gang in early adolescence was no picnic so Slim needed to grow up fast and hard. In his earlier days in the gang, which was fairly minor, Slim got handed whatever weapon nobody else wanted to use and found that he could easily familiarize himself with any weapon he was handed and quickly master them with practice. With time he rose in the hierarchy of the gang and his potential drew attention from its leader, Rhino, who took Slim under his wing. As Slim was rather more personable than most of the members of the gang he became the gang's negotiator and general middle man for business transactions acquiring many contacts in the Crime Mall black market and smuggler community.
It was while he was away negotiating the purchase of new weapons for the gang that Quake, a lieutenant in the gang, managed to stage a coup, eliminating Rhino and all his supporters that did not fall immediately in line with the new regime. When Slim got back he was given the classic options of Join or Die. Knowing that he would never be trusted, and probably stabbed in the back as soon as Quake felt he had outlived his usefulness, Slim tried damned hard to negotiate an exit from the gang and succeeded. If only barely.
He had to pay a heavy exit fee, totally emptying his nest fund which had been set aside for cyberware, but managed to hang onto most of his personal gear. It was also made crystal clear that he would be considered a "Shoot on sight" target if he ever showed his face in their Loveland turf again. Unsurprisingly Quake and his cronies went to considerable lengths to try and destroy Slim's rep with resounding success, as a result of which Slim lost many of his contacts and those who are willing to talk to him are weary of trusting him completely.
For now his goal is to try and establish himself in the runner circles of Seattle but Slim knows he needs to repair his rep by any means possible.

Are these the current rules? So only +/- 13 points from qualities? Will work on a character now! Probably a Street Sam
These are indeed the rules, I'll update the original post to reflect this. As I said I'll allow a rigger or decker to spend an additional 5 karma for nuyen if they'd like.
@Tenlaar Q1: I'll come back to you later today regarding this, I like the idea of performance, I just want to make sure this isn't going to break anything, I'm a little reluctant to change rules being a new GM, but the concept sounds fun.
Q2: Sounds like it shouldn't be an issue. Can you list the page number for this? I'll have a quick read when I get a moment.
@Poindexter: Love the sheet but yeah you're 6 karma over :( You could always drop one stat to save 10 karma. I know your build is quite tight but it should still work well.
@reyjinn Biggest issue is that I don't have the book so I can't look up any of the gear. I was going to buy this once a physical copy was available, though that could be a while :(
-
Sure thing. Like I said, I completely understand, it just struck me as an interesting tie in between his former life and current abilities. We can figure out if it can work without being breaky.
The part about legal licenses is just a little blurb in the SINs and Licenses section, really. Page 367.

honestly, i'll probably more likely lose the MCT drone.
I can't have 1's in stats.
I'm gonna keep the 2 NQ's and just take 6 fewer points from it, cool?
also, i didn't realize someone else was gonna do face. I'll probably just abandon that bit and remake him.
im at work now, but ill finish it up tonight when i get home, as well as write out the backstory.
Hope i aint keepin yall.

I was more thinking about dropping another stat, not having a 1 in something. I do really like the face portion of your character and it fits with the musician theme. I think the acting skill-group would definitely come in handy also. To be honest this is probably one of my favourite concepts so far :) I hope I'm not making it TOO difficult for you. An Ork face could definitely have it's advantages in certain circumstances. What would you add by removing the face side?
@Slowdeck I listed face due to the skills you took, I think it's definitely helpful having more than one charismatic character and I like the idea of a secondary role to fall back on.
-
ok, here he is, the "final" version.
I dropped the CHA by 2, used those points to raise the two 1's, got back 20 karma for that. Erased 6 of it, then spent the remaining 14 on contacts.
also, jiggled some of the skills around a bit.

@Poindexter That looks great. Is the Illusion mage instead of a lighting technician? If so that's pretty awesome.
@Tenlaar I'll play with numbers tonight to see how powerful the illusions will be. I'm also happy for you to take the magic license. National SIN and magic license could have its downsides as well, obviously, but we'll see how it plays out.
-
Oh yeah, it'll have downsides heh. He's set up so that he has a good foundation and basically has to become a runner during play. Learning some physical B&E skills (lockpick and hardware, mostly) and scrubbing his digital trail so that he's not easily identified by his SIN will be his major starting tasks.
One other thing we should probably figure out before hand is how exactly stealth will be handled with his...unique style. I'm going with the assumption right now that levitating myself by somebody won't make any noise, so I won't need to make a sneaking test to avoid being heard. It would basically come down to whether his invisibility is seen through. That seems to pretty much remove half the danger of sneaking around somewhere though, so I'm not really sure the best way to work it.
-

exactly.
I think he used to do effects for my shows back in the day, but he has blown up and gotten big, while i have not. We rarely work together anymore, but we still talk alot.
-
I think the amusing part is my character's complete lack of contacts. I could see her explaining to the group that everyone she knew died in a fire and watching as they all take a step back :P
-
dont ya get 3x cha for free?
-
Yes. Which I forgot to factor in. Mainly because I was too busy undoing my math tangle to notice I hadn't quite finished.
Okay, hold on while I copy her sheet over and do a quick rewrite of some of her history...
-
Okay, this should be the final version. I moved the karma I had spent on her contact over to resources to shore her up with a fake identity.

She grabbed a bag her parents had asked her to put together, lamented her foolishness in not putting more of it, and fled to a different part of the city to start over, choosing to hide near her mentor's talismonger. She quickly met a fixer and, through him, a forger that could set her up with a new fake SIN.
Now she's out of money and seeking to apply her magical knowledge to earning some.
-
aren't mentor spirits only for shamanistic mages?
-
From the write-up, any mage can have one. It mentions within the quality that hermetic mages and shamans have different names for mentor spirits.
-
cool.
-
And just corrected something I was forgetting.
Okay, hopefully now, it's complete. I might be forgetting a few things...
-
I've only skimmed over the character sheets so far I've mostly been focused on the general role of the character, and obvious faults and had a look over the contacts and back stories.
We probably have enough character sheets submitted at this stage that I think I'll close off any further applications.
Celtibero, SlowDeck, Poindexter and Tenlaar I would be keen to have you all on board. reyjinn and Tiamut024 I'm also keen for you guys to jump on board, I just want to make sure your characters will have enough to do while we play? It looks like reyjinn would be decent with legwork, especially with gangs while Tiamut024 looks more stealthy... have you thought about getting a few ranks in lockpicking or are you really wanting to be mostly combat focused?
I am going to copy off all of the latest character sheets, go over them in detail, flesh out some of the contacts and prepare the intro to the game. we also need to discuss if any of your characters are connected or know each other and to what level. It would probably be a little easier for me if a few of you were at least acquaintances. I have an idea in my head about how I want to run the game and the setting, though I want to customise it a little based on your sheets. 6 is a little more than I was planning to run though I'm sure we can make it work. I may have a few questions as we go for those with experience!

I'm happy for you all to flesh out your own contacts. I'll possibly add a few bits and pieces to tie them in to the game, though nothing that goes against the concept intended.
-
I can flesh out Lutwidge's tutor contact but I really wasn't planning on his motel manager contact being much more than a guy who runs the "discrete" motel he ended up staying at (keep in mind, only arrived in Seattle earlier in the week) and the kind of guy you can slip 50 nuyen to and ask where you might find other "discrete" business men kind of thing. If there is some way you can work that kind of NPC into the story, feel free to take it and run!

sounds perfect.
Like, say you needed me to have someone who i care about in my life with an aging mother who works as a wageslave for Ares, or whatever, i can TOTALLY work with whatever you give me.

Well I was the last one to the party, so I will just sit out and consider me benched, 6 is a crowd I agree. As for B&E, I definitely though about it and it would be very easy to squeeze in, though wouldn't obtain the Hardware skill for rewiring MAGlocks and the like. Will consider myself benched unless read otherwise here ^^

I think I can make it work if you would like to give it a go. I see you're already GMing a game, your experience may come in handy and and as there are a far more players than GM's I'm happy to at least try to get you in a game as a player. I was mostly worried about having 2 characters that seemed to be 95% geared toward killing things as it's not quite what I'm after.
It's your call :)

Intro to Duckdown
Orks don't live near as long as the rest of you, so we live harder. We dance harder, we fight harder, we sleep harder, we dream harder, we love harder. It's that last one that's the most powerful, man. Love, duuuuuude, love. Love's how the ugliest smeltery worker you ever seen ended up pairing with the raging fire of a woman that is my mother. She's 46 now, older than most of us get, and the proud mother of 11 daughters and 6 sons. I still got three brothers out there somewhere. They're all grown and moved on, i think one of em joined the army or went to jail or something. I'm not really sure. Sisters, i got two left out there. As rough as life is for everyone, it's even rougher for us, and rougher still for our women. I can't even imagine what trolls have to go through. damn. can't even imagine... Anyway, my sisters Agatha and Theresa still live in town. I'm pretty sure neither of them are officially members of a gang, but they hang out with those guys ALOT. Agatha's 13 years old. She's an adult. I don't really give a shit what SHE does, but Theresa is still just a kid. She should at least TRY to go to school. At least till she hated it so much, she started acting out and getting into fights to get out of it. That's what i did. That's what you're supposed to do. That's like, what school is for, right man?
I used to be an angry little trog, y'know?
I was really into my hands as a kid. I wanted to climb with em, and build stuff with em, and beat people up with em, and i got pretty good at doin all that stuff. But then, there was that one day. My mother was living with my late sister Monica's father at the time. I think his name was Terrance or Jessica or something. Probably not Jessica. Anyways, he played hardcore beebop jazz saxophone and me and him really got along well, unlike most of my mothers partners. He was a crazy guy, always tellin jokes, bouncin around, fidgeting with his fingers, come to think of it, that trog was probably a cokehead. Fraaaaaag. I always wondered why mom threw him out while she was pregnant. Ok, anyways, he comes home from a gig one night, late as shit, and he brings with him, into our living room, this nice lookin drumset. It was the shiniest thing I'd seen in my entire life, and long after my siblings had finished fighting over it and lost interest, i just kept banging on that thing for years. Nowadays, I'm just the best drummer in the plex. It aint no big deal, chummer.
I used to rock with El Chupacabracadabra. I don't know what bullshit the label made em change the name to. I don't listen to that pop drek, but you've probably heard em. I was the only ork in the group, and no one really understood the struggle but me, so once i started writing songs for em, we stared blowin up. Eventually, the type of guy i am got to be too much of a liability for em. See, in the music biz, you gotta be able to lie to people's faces and pretend to be stupid. That's how you get that nuyen. You make what the teeny-boppers wanna hear. Something to keep the little corp kids from realizing THEY are what's wrong with the world. Either that or tell the ghetto kids that they matter and not to sell drugs. I wouldnt do it. When i write a song, it's the chip truth. So, they got a record contract and replaced me with some dandelion eater. Changed the name and fired our dwarf manager, too. Name was T-Ball. Solid guy. Kindof a dork, but he was always straight with us. Dude always had our backs and they did him like that? Did me like that? Buncha squishes, with their frakkin squish bullshit.
I kinda lost my temper. I don't like to dwell on the old stupid days, but lets just say, some property was damaged, some charges were pressed, and i got arrested. Good thing T-Ball still liked me. He didn't have the connections to get the charges dropped, but he got em lessened and my time reduced. I did 8 months for destruction of private property and criminal mischief. I was lucky. They coulda got me for grand theft auto and attempted murder if they really wanted to be dicks about it. I'da probably died in there if they'da hit me with that. Prison turned out to not be so bad. It mellowed me out a lot. And not just cause i started smoking a LOT more zen. I also did a lot of soul searching and a lot of writing. If i could sing, I'd have an entire album ready to record.
When i got out, T-Ball tried to get me legal work, but between my new criminal SIN, my race, and the new pastime i'd picked up in jail, that never panned out. It dawned on me about five months after i got out that i was gonna have to make money on my own. I'd met a few people who did a few things playing with 'chupa around town for all that time. Seems it's time to make some calls...

Former manager, T-Ball loyalty- 2 connections- 4 kindof dorky, but he's a good guy. dwarf in his mid 50's with a twisty beard. Knows a lot of people you'd expect someone in the music biz to know.
drug dealer, Drank loyalty- 1 connections- 2 The cousin of a human rapper i met in jail. I told him i'd play drums for his album when he gets out. He's a lazy shit though, so it'll probably never happen.
go- ganger, ZipLine loyalty- 1 connections- 3 The ork widow of my late brother, Leonard. They had two kids together. She doesn't really like me, but she knows i'm good for my word.
bass player, Deen loyalty- 4 connections- 2 Troll woman I've been dating for the past three months. She's an INCREDIBLE bass player, and an uncompromising philosopher. She's a violent drunk though and sometimes, shit can get outta hand. She's had a rough life and sometimes she takes it out on me. I think i love her, but i haven't told her. I doubt she loves me, but what the hell do i know, right?
illusion mage, Sully loyalty- 3 connections- 3 This is the guy that used to do stage effects for us back when chupa first started getting big. He hooked up with us for free, just for the exposure, but soon, he was getting offers for paying gigs that we just couldnt match. Dude is really talented, and even though we havent seen eachother in a long time, we still keep in touch.
please note, i DID jiggle around some of the ratings here, so they differ from what's on the character sheet.
i can go back and change that if you'd like.
while im at it, i think i'll delete all the old versions of this character, to save space.

It looks like I managed to lock this somehow! Should be all good now.

I hate it when misclicks happen. Glad it's fixed! :D

Regarding the characters knowing each other then anyone with decent gang knowledge or a gang contact has probably heard at least some of the rumors that have been spread about Slim by his former gang. How they view him would depend on whether they believed said rumors or not (Slim has a notoriety of 3 from Bad Rep). If anyone has any smuggling or black market connections they could also know of each other through that avenue.
Slim's Contacts
Black Market Arms Dealer, C3 L2, Freddie Hucknall, Ork, 41 y/o.
Works out of the Crime Mall in Puyallup. Was Slim's main weapons contact while he was doing business for his gang and decided he knew Slim well enough to ignore the rumors he heard.
Fixer, C1 L1, Honest Joe, Dwarf, 66 y/o.
I had this one mostly figured as a stopgap, if Kalarin decides we'll get a mutual fixer in the early stages I'd not hesitate to redistribute these points elsewhere. Note: He is not honest.
Smuggler, C2 L2, Rex, Human, 23 y/o.
Main smuggling route is on Route 7 north through Puyallup into Tacoma. Rather low level in his organisation which is mostly Amerindian but he knows some people.
Street doc, C1 L2, Andy Greenwall, Human, 54 y/o.
When Slim decided that he wanted to save up for some ware he did considerable research into the local street docs. He wanted to make sure that when he went under he would be in capable hands and more importantly wouldn't end up in some ghouls belly. This doc in who has his practice in a rather nice neighborhood in northern Puyalupp was the one Slim decided to go with. They had several conversations about which way Slim wanted to go with his ware and became casual acquaintances.
Decided to spend an extra karma point on the smuggler contact, will edit the Char Sheet post accordingly.

This is plenty of info for anyone else wanting to write up some contacts.
@Poindexter So long as you stick close to the original concept I'm happy for you to keep tweaking until a few days before the game starts. When I make a character I like to mess around with it for days at least. Happy for you or anyone else to do the same. I'll have a decent look over the sheets before we start to see if I can see any errors.
-
ok, i adjusted the character sheet to reflect the changes i made to contacts as well as deleted the old obsolete character sheets.

Seems I am making decent progress with my ideas for the game. I may even be able to start a little earlier depending on how busy I get over the weekend.
I will make an OOC thread later today, once I do would everyone please post up their character sheets in there? It's a little annoying navigating the thread to look at these and this way you can modify them in there as we need to before the game starts. I'd like all of these at the top of the thread so only just keep it to that one post please.
I'm had a little bit of a look at the Seattle 2072 4E source book looking for a decent starting location. Fox Island is looking like a good choice, we will be starting somewhere in that region regardless. I'll confirm once I've read a little more!

I have it copied and ready :)

Thread is up :) http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=16317.0 (http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=16317.0) I look forward to seeing this game start! As the thread states, there are a couple of characters that are either not finished or I haven't heard from the player in a day or so. The roster may change if these people are no longer keen, though at this stage applications are still closed.
I'm looking for a little consistency here. I want at least a post a day, If this reopens please take this in to consideration.
