Does anyone use background music for your Shadowrun game nights (or days...I'm an equal opportunity gamer)?
If so...what particular songs do you use? Playlists? (just asking for names of bands, albums, songs)
I used to use a good does of Rage Against the Machine back in the late 1990s, but I've found that music like that wants to be played loud so if I have it on during game it starts yelling at me, "hey! HEY! TURN ME UP!" and that gets distracting while I GM, even when it's kept low and ignored.
So now I prefer more instrumental pieces (or mostly so and even then I'm sure I'm going to break my rule as I compile the playlist for my next campaign). I prefer to leave on random (shuffle for you young'ns, hehehahahehe, ahem, uh, yeah) but to make a "combat" playlist and a non-combat playlist
Right now my starting list is:
("Band" - "Album" - "Song")
Akira - Soundtrack - Kenada
Akira - Soundtrack - Requiem
Akira - Soundtrack - Tetsuo
Cowboy Bebop - OST1 - Rush
Cowboy Bebop - OST1 - Spokey Dokey
Cowboy Bebop - OST1 - Tank!
Cowboy Bebop - OST1 - The Egg and I
Dust Brothers - Fight Club Soundtrack - Finding the Bomb
Dust Brothers - Fight Club Soundtrack - Medula Oblongata

And just because it's one of my top five favorite songs of all time Cowboy Bebop - Space Lion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqKD5WOivpQ)
Oh, and for some mellower "Native Rock", check out Robbie Robertson's (http://www.ilike.com/artist/Robbie+Robertson) Music for the Native Americans.

I sit here giggling in awe, Fastjack. You rock!
I dig the Robbie Roberston, esp "Peyote Healing"
I looove Space Lion, the only reason I didn't include it is the mellow wonderfulness of it...which tended to break the mood a bit in the last campaign I ran (the child-like vocals would cause one player to uncontrollably mimic them, well, parody is more like it, heh).
Yeah, the M.I.A. video is harsh, definitely not for minors or those not liking to see such harshness (I have one player that can handle all the blood, gore, sex, and disturbing imagery for game, but just cannot stomach movies that are 1/4 as provocative).
Tootled, holy crap, your right, hehe. I had to break out that old thing, um...what is it...oh yeah, the CD and check. I drop that second 't" because it samples Tool, so it must say "tooled" hehe, nope :)
You get my rep point this hour, Fastjack...definitely!

No problem, you reminded me there were a few things I've been meaning to pick up in iTunes... ;)
