I like stats. Just interested in seeing the range, average, etc. of the age of Shadowrun players.
-
Of course the headline may be misleading...looking for player's ages, not the ages of the characters you play :)

This has been done already

There's old age setting in for you. I went through the General Discussion looking to see if it had been done and (obviously) didn't see it.
Alright then, move along, never mind, nothing to see here (can I delete a thread/poll that I've started he now asks to no one in particular...hehe)
-
Ha! I was wondering why it wasn't showing me the results when I opened this...
-
Still not 30 :( Dammit...
-
Doc, 30 aint any better than 29. Don't be in such a hurry.
8)
-
But I get to use a cool saying we got in germany. "Don't trust anybody under 30!" Me want ;)
-
I get to change my age group in March but for now I'm not in the 45-dirt group! :-* ;D ;)
-
that second 17-24 was probably Doom. XD

Where's Codak for the 16 and under group! :-X :( :-\ :) :D ;D
-
(laughs) I'm 28, and soon to be 29. And i feel young, when i see your wrinkled avatars. :P
-
Hey... My avatar is bearly 3 months old!
I bought that mini for our First Run!(what 2 months ago now?)
-
My avatar is a hot chick with a gun.
Hot chicks with guns never get old.
-
I second that.

Yes, they do (http://radio-weblogs.com/0127719/radioStationPictures/images/2004/02/03/granny%20gun.jpg). They just aren't as hot.
-
Double-entendre check: Failed.
You ARE getting old, 'Jack.

Dammit man, Helen Mirren is the exception to EVERY rule.
The woman's played Morgana/Morgan le Fey (Excalibur - 1981), DCI Jane Tennison (Prime Suspect), one of the Calendar Girls, the voice of Deep Thought (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), the bloody QUEEN OF ENGLAND (seriously, how many brits would be up to playing HER in a biopic while she's still alive) and is now playing Prospera in The Tempest (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdpQcFdfXdY).

I'm 29, but my group has people in it ranging in age from their early 40's down to 14 so...

So, my original point still stands, then.

Hot chicks with guns? Yeah, that's good. I prefer hot chicks with swords though.

That's a katana. Technically not a sword. And girls with swords are hot. Dangerously. As a former member of a 'knight brotherhood'* i can confirm that.
*Not exactly like your ren faires. More historically accurate, professional and strictly organized. And a lot more awesome. Just check out the battle of Grunwald reenactment this year.
-
A katana is a sword. Everything I've ever seen or read about katanas and swords says katanas are swords. Why wouldn't they be?
-
Because they are EXOTIC!! ooooooo!
For some reason, that's enough to get some folks to call it different.
-
Katanas are katanas. 'Sword' is contractual here, as it has very different method of use. No parrying, different kind of combat use (not cutting through armor - cutting it's bindings to remove protection). I used both, and decided not to play with the katana, even if it was just a normal metal replica. Its fast, tough to handle, and works only with quick, short movements, unlike the sword (which depends more on your own strength and it's application, and can easily hurt someone through armor).
I know that's just me grumbling, but they're as different as it can be. Just look at swords and sabers. Even they're totally different kinds or weapons, they have more in common than with a katana. Hell, a katana could cut through a chainmail if you used a long, flat, pulling move. But it would be useless after one or two strikes - too much strain on the material, totally dulled.
That's also why in all those samurai movies everything ends in one attack. Or two-three at the least. One strike at an unarmored opponent kills or cripples him.
P.S. I have some meelee training, and knowledge. But by no means am i an expert. I just use logic, and can off course be wrong, when it comes to 'official' scientific terms. :P
-
A Katana is still a type of sword. <_<
-
Very much so.
It's like saying an epee isn't a sword because you can't slash with it. Or a claymore isn't a sword because it's too long.
For the curious, look here http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sword (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sword).
The katana, epee, and claymore all qualify.

I am 32 myself....
Meh. :)
-
32 is the new 23. I am 18. I hope I am not too young.
-
I had feared that, Head Hunter, as that would mean 35 is the new 53, le sigh :)
18 too young? Never. Some of my best friends were 18...most were actually, no wait, all of them, yup, so you're in good company.
-

It's not the age, it's the milage....if that's the case, I should be about 80.
;D
-
That's true @ Mystic.
And, 35 can be the new 25. It has potential. Well, I am glad 18 is accepted. I usually get along with the older crowd better than my own. :)
-
Back when I was running SR2 (yikes, I suddenly feel old), one of my friends brought his 15 year old nephew into the group. We gave him a good welcome, he took his lumps, and became one of the best players of the group. I tend not to look so much at age, but maturity. Ive seen people who are supposedly "kids" act better than those three times their age. *shrugs*

Got about three months left of being in the 44 group, then I graduate to "Midlife Crisis".

Got a hot car and flashy girlfriend ready? Or is it a flashy car and hot girlfriend....I dont know. Im not allowed to have a midlife crisis..
:P
-
Meh, gamer's mid-life crises usually involve picking up a copy of a World of Darkness game and LARPing at a local con.
-
You know what's hilarious? LARPing an Amberite with a bunch of vampires.
Oh, god, that's funny. Especially when you tell the vamps that you decided to change how their powers work, and then leave them in a reality that enslaves vampires to grow mushrooms.

Whoa, I know those people! I used to game with them! Was "asked not to return" (Read: got kicked out of) though. Evidently they don't like it when two mere "mongrels" manage to take out several high ranking vampires with explosive trashcans containing a holy-water and soaked wood-shrapnel core. Guess it didn't help to proclaim "Its open season on all suck-heads!" when we did it...No one has a sense of humor anymore
A nuwisha and a ragabash with a high demolitions skill, resources, and time. Two months of work for 30 seconds of bliss. Worth it.
;D
-
A Ratkin with Itchy Form. :D

That is hilarious. Glad to see there are other Amberites around still though!
