I'd like to pitch a human detection mage.
He's a druid, used to living out in the wilds and repairing the damage wrought on the land by metahumanity. Eagle is his mentor and he can take his form, having come to him in a vision at his coming of age.
He grew up on a farm, destined to work the land for a living but as his parents fell into old age, the farm had to be sold. After taking scraps of work out in the villages, he eventually had to move to the big city in search of employment. His skillset brought him into the shadows via a contact of a friend and he's been running for a year now, living out of a shit-hole apartment on the edge of the slums.
He specialises in detection spells and perception (astral and physical). He's not particularly hot in combat but really shines in recon and situational awareness on a run as well as counterspelling.

I like him. Btw, I forgot to put this in the main post but this will be a PbP unless I get a new mic and everybody wants to do realtime via skype.

If this ends up being non-PbP, I'm definitely interested. I have several character ideas rolled up, and another dozen or so concepts for when I have the time to flesh them out. Should be able to find something that would fit with any group makeup.

My character concept is an Orc (human looking) Survivalist whos typically a loner and takes advantage of living out in the wilderness by owning a bunch of illegal weapons and enjoys not paying taxes or rent to anyone. Lately though hes been looking to upgrade his hideout with some better amenities and that takes nuyen which he knows no legal way of acquiring so he decides to take a shot at the runner lifestyle. He'd be a combat/stealth character with little social skills but good tactical knowledge of the land and a nice safehouse full of guns to bolt to if things go sour.

I'm interested in the PBP more myself.
My character idea would be a human changeling, with the outward appearance of a unicorn. A phys adept who runs his own detective agency, composed of himself. generally acts like a hardboiled ex-cop, cause he thats what he is.
Second character idea is another changeling of some kind. Runs a "post birth abortion clinic" which is fancy talk for assassin work. of course would wield an sniper rifle with a wooden stock in it. Also an adept.
My last idea is a rabbit changeling. (Yes I freeking love changeling) who dresses up like a chinese hopping vampire. Primary weapon is a mochi mallet, and his name is Puck. Trickster, he always tries to put on a good show.

I would like to play Cyclone, a cyber samurai I created for 5th that I'm confident I'd be able to convert to 4th.
Character Concept:
Marcus Evans aka Cyclone, a former UCAS Army Ranger veteran with over 10 years of service; received an honorable discharge after his influential family pulled some strings, despite heavy drug use following a mission went bad, resulting in multiple cybernetic limb replacements. Highly trained in ranged combat disciplines, he's an excellent marksman and a decent close quarters combatant, though the extensive cyberware he's received has made him somewhat cold and distant and as such he doesn't talk much.
Cyclone, weary of civilians who couldn't relate to his experiences and uncomfortable in the bustle of Seattle, settled down as a bounty hunter in Chicago where he could be by himself more often than not. Occasionally he takes jobs in other parts of the country when his expertise as a heavy hitter is needed.
Character Description
Marcus is tall for a human at 2.1m, and he's built like a brick given his extensive cybernetic limbs. In Chicago, he usually wears a Lined Coat with a black Urban Explorer Jumpsuit underneath, as well as the AR gloves, a helmet along with full-face respirator, as well as earbuds and contacts equipped with audio and visual enhancers. In addition to his cyber implant weaponry, he carries two firearms both of which are actively concealed most of the time; a Ruger Super Warhawk held in a belted quick-draw holster secured to his right thigh with a additional rounds on the belt, and a shoulder-slung Ares Alpha on his right side. The smuggling compartment in his left leg holds illegal items like Explosive and APDS rounds, high-explosive grenades, and drugs, while the survival kit backpack holds various items like a disguise kit, legal drugs, and a medkit. The lined coat holds a miniwelder, while pouches on the urban explorer jumpsuit holds the simrig-equipped commlink and spare clips with legal ammo, amongst other things.

He usually wears a heavily Lined Coat with form-fitting armor and cold weather gear underneath, as well as a helmet, goggles, and a respirator. The few times he does show his face he'll usually have prepared a disguise.
== Background ==
Marcus was born to William and Carol Evans, both medical professionals at Ares in Seattle. His parents had high expectations for him and his two sisters, but despite private instructors and all the tutorsofts money could buy he struggled due to a severe learning disability. As a freshman at the prestigious Bellevue High School, he attended a UCAS military recruiting drive and enlisted in the UCAS Army at only 16 years old, where he thrived for the first time in his life. He was wounded in combat multiple times and received full cyberlimb replacements for arms, legs, and torso as a result. At age 27, after 11 years of exemplary service and at the rank of Master Sergeant, he suffered a mental breakdown and received an honorable discharge after his parents called in a few favors, narrowly avoiding charges of drug use and dereliction of duty. Disillusioned with civilian life and the petty concerns of ordinary people, he moved to Chicago after a former team mate arranged for a short-term security contract there. Life in the feral city suited him well, and since men with his skill set were in steady demand he decided to stay for a while before moving on, working as a Bounty Hunter and bodyguard, amongst other things.
Cyclone lives a simple life and is mostly just interested in making enough to get by, but he is not a ruthless mercenary. While he favours non-lethal means because live bounties pay better, he is not above killing or changing allegiances for the right price or cause; Ares still holds a place in his heart, and Horizon's PR machine has him believing in their cause. Between his intimidating presence, formidable combat prowess, and rich military background, only time will tell what the future holds.

In addition to the broken down Alpha, the smuggling compartment in his left leg holds illegal items like Explosive rounds, grenades, and all of his illegal drugs, while the survival kit backpack holds various items like the legal drugs and emergency field dressings. The lined coat holds a miniwelder and his commlink, amongst other things.

0.19 Essence? Holy ####! You do realize that if you lose that small bit of essence then you die. Like, forever. Also, theres a thing called the "Uncanny Valley" where basically if you have under 2 essence, people react to you very adversely. They know that you aren't quite... Human.It really impacts your social skills. I know that he isn't much of a talker, but the thing is that if you do speak then people are basically gonna think, "What the F-?"
I like your character, I really do. I myself tend to lean towards ex-military combat heavy characters. I'm just warning you that having 0.19 essence is a bad idea.

Yep; essence drain is bad. But, most essence drain situations = bad stuff is gonna happen regardless, so I'm not overly worried about that to be honest.
As for uncanny valley, low Essence doesn't mechanically impact skills in 4th as far as I'm aware. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that point, but I thought that was a 5th Edition thing only; as such, I'm curious as to where the "very adverse" reaction bit comes from, mechanically speaking. The only note I can find is on p344 of the 4th Edition core rulebook, stating that "[obvious cyberlimbs] tends to affect the character's social dealings." Beyond that, I can't really find anything that specifies that cybered characters should be penalized unless the GM decides it's appropriate, such as when dealing with purists for example. The flip side of that coin is that transhumanists would love this guy :D
That being said, my only charisma based skills are Intimidation and Leadership, both of which may or may not require some degree of shouting and/or screaming. I will be playing Cyclone as a highly detached individual, so negotiations with Mr. Johnson for instance will mostly consist of him staring at the Johnson in silence :)

I think you're right, looking through 4e I didn't see anything about essence. I had started out in shadowrun using 5e but I chose to do 4 because there seems to be more support for it. So yeah, I assumed wrong. As for the affecting social dealings (I mean, you're basically 90% robot anyways) people are going to react to you different, but there aren't going to be penalties. For example
One of my characters succeeds an intimidation check (with 5 esseence)
Me: WHERE IS THE REBEL BASE!
Baddie: Ok, I'll tell you!
You succeed an intimidation check
You. WHERE ARE THE REBELS!
Baddie: I'll tell you, just promise not to eat my heart ok!?

Hahaha, I am totally OK with that scenario!
And to be painfully pedantic, it's accurate to say that Cyclone is 98.74% robot, seeing as he has 0.21 Essence left of 6.00 :D

With the free coldsuit you're giving us, does that mean I can grab some of the fun toys from Hazard Pay like a cold weather vehicle and such, and they'll actually get some use? I just don't want to grab a snowmobile or something and then it ends up we're working in a city the entire time.

I swapped some gear around after discovering that snake fingers has to be installed in a hand. Works out for the better anyway.

With the free coldsuit you're giving us, does that mean I can grab some of the fun toys from Hazard Pay like a cold weather vehicle and such, and they'll actually get some use? I just don't want to grab a snowmobile or something and then it ends up we're working in a city the entire time.

Yeah, chummer put Enemies under the Contacts header in the text sheet. And they could probably just be Humanis?
Anyway, update on sheet. Nearly done, just need to finish spending nuyen, mostly on minigrenades and fake licenses. Also need to double check to make sure the lifestyle qualities are all compatible, but otherwise I think it's all okay. Chummer also doesn't like putting things that are under more than one plugin, so I had to fill in the drone weaponry myself, and then put any mods/accessories after said weapons.

Unfortunately spoiler doesn't work anymore.
Anycase, here is the final version of Valdmire, He's a wolf/fox changeling, who ended up surging one cold and icy night as he awakened. The process left him rather resistant to the cold. Unfortunately, most don't really recognize him anymore and he ended up becoming something of a ghost now.
I couldn't come up with a good alias, so I used strelok.
He's got a permenat life style of a squatter, but lives out of his SUV, along with his trust robot dog, K-Nine. Recently he came into town so he could start working to pay off Ted.
