Whatever happened to the Colt Manhunter?
-
You know what, that's an excellent question, considering the gun is mentioned in the fiction and examples of both the core book and Run & Gun several times.
He’s using a Colt Manhunter with 1 point of recoil compensation, which brings his compensation total to 3.
He’s got nothing against the HTR officer, so he draws his Manhunter loaded with gel rounds and plants one square in the goon’s chest.
There he was, looking down the sights of his trusty Manhunter, getting ready to drop the trash-talking ork whose capture would net him a healthy certified stick from Renraku, when the ork dared—dared!— him to take the shot.
On the black market, not everything for sale is the genuine article. Cheap knockoff guns are frequently modified to look like Ares Predators or Colt Manhunters and passed off as such to unsuspecting buyers.
Maybe it's slated for a later release? It's not in SR5, R&G, SG, or any of the supplements released so far that I can tell, including Gun H(e)aven 3.

Anxiously waiting for Manhunters, Mega-Powers, and Thunderbolts.
-
We are many who would like to see the return of those two guns.
Hopefully they'll be reintroduced soon, if not in any core book then through enhanced fiction
-
That ... is a very good question. Hrm.

Clearly something happened with the designer of the original. Maybe she exercised her options on 'reserving the license', and that triggered a corruption dataworm built into all copies of the design spec files, as well as search-and-destroy worms meant to go after every possibly-scrubbed copy.
Which means in order to get the Colt Manhunter back on the market, you now have to go rescue 57-year-old Andrea McBaine, world-famous 2050's bounty hunter - and still kickass queen!!
-
If she is still collecting royalties then why would she stop the sale and production of this marvelous weapon?
-
Good question. Go rescue her and find out!!
-
Last seen in Chicago? :o
-
Being dragged bleeding into a UB clinic? OO
If that is the case then I think we are too late ...
-
Considering the last 'UB Clinic' existed in '57, I doubt that happened. If I were running such a campaign, I'd have her finding something out about Colt (they test-fire weapons on live babies, whatever) and cancel the production contract, with enforcement from some other heavy partner - Ares, or S-K, or another megacorporation who wants to get the design and production and name into their pocket. Colt sends some 'runners to nab her so they can lean on her; her white knight is informed immediately, and they contact a fixer who turns it over to the runners. From there, the runners have to either intercept the other shadowrunning team, or else extract her from a Colt facility.

Try "The Other Castle" first. I hear it's a rather wiz nightclub just inside the former CZ.
-
There are so many places left she could be seen dragged into and most of them are probably rumors. Hell she could be a mantis spirit (or worse) by now for all we know.
We know any know if her last whereabouts were Chicago at all!
Someone go find her so we can get our gun!
-
Just remember that you're talking 'start of 5th Edition' at the earliest for something to happen to McBain - only since the Manhunter has been 'out of circulation'. ;)
-
I don't really get the problem with it not being listed. All the Light Pistols and Heavy Pistols in SR5 Core have differences, damage-wise or accuracy-wise or mode-wise. In comparison, the Manhunter is basically a Browning Ultra-Power at the same price, same stats but simply 6 rounds more in the mag and claimed as a cop-gun.
Since it's still in the fluff, I'd say it's not very likely the gun doesn't exist anymore, they simply cut it to save space. We can see from its two competition guns that its stats wouldn't be different from the Ultra-Power (barring said ammo count), so it's easy to rule it in. No need for crazy conspiracy theories, chummers, save that for the headcases.
-
But, but, but - it's the big alternate to the Predator!! There's gotta be a reason!!
Or at least some fun.
-
Yeah, but some of these conspiracy theories are great plot hooks. :)

Exactly! They could also be nothing more than a red herring so far from the truth. :o
