So... I have heard references to the Meal Time Killer, and I think that this was a plot in the previous season's Missions. Back then, I wasn't a demo agent and I had never played a Missions game before - can someone give me a rundown on where I can find information about the Meal Time Killer? Alternatively, can someone give me the Cliff's Notes version?

I always assumed it was a fictional name drop used by the characters in SR to give a perspective. Kinda like we say someone "just went Postal".... or what not.
If this is tied to an actual event I would love to hear it as well.

The Meal Time Killer info is in the 4e Enhanced Fiction "Another Rainy Night" and the 5e follow-up "Sail Away Sweet Sister", both by Patrick Goodman.
Brilliant stories in their own right, all the more awesome for tying into Shadowrun so well. They are only $1.99 each in pdf format from DriveThru.

I'll second the recommendation; Patrick Goodman did a great job on those books, and I thoroughly enjoyed the read. Well worth it, and I believe there's more to come. Perhaps Patrick would be kind enough to elaborate? :)

The MTK was basically a vampire (or ghoul, I misremember) serial killer - someone who wanted people to be afraid of the Infected. The FtD (Fear the Dark) people, essentially a terrorist group, are picking up where the MTK left off - Infected Terrorism.
-
They were a vampire serial killer, who would kill someone, then use some of the remaining blood to write what meal they were; snack, dinner, brunch, breakfast, etc. The original Meal Time Killer is dead, as is the first copy-cat/the vampire the police thought was the Meal Time Killer. Fear the Dark, an apparent vampire-supremacy group, possibly got the Meal Time Killer started; they definitely helped her out and inspired/hired a lot of copy-cats. Their goal isn't to coexist with the people; they're predators, and they'll take what they want. One of their higher-ups definitely creates Renfield and uses it to ensure the loyalty of goons.
As is, it's why the Infected Rights movement has, as per Run Faster, been going down the toilet. And as bounties stay on the heads of the Infected, as their urges become stronger, as the sunlight pushes them further away from humanity, more Infected, even those who just wanted as close to a normal life as they could get, are joining up. If the only other option is to be destroyed, most Infected would rather have the populace Fear the Dark. /waxpoetic

Thanks for the answers everyone - I went ahead and picked up the two books and they're gripping. Very well written, Seņor Goodman. Being a native to Houston, and knowing the areas of College Station and Pasadena well enough to recognize the locations really was a nice little bonus. Like many people from the eastern half of Texas, my family is split between UT and A&M, almost exactly in half. But why on earth would A&M become a pre-eminent school for magical research? Gah. Hook 'em Horns. :P

But why on earth would A&M become a pre-eminent school for magical research? Gah. Hook 'em Horns. :P
Because originally they were hot to get their hands on a way to boost their team to turn the tide against UT?
One would love to see how many adepts, in some early cases probably unknowingly, are/were being fielded on either side.

Texas A&M&M was canon before I started writing for the game, and my father was an Aggie to the day he died. It's a way I keep Dad around.
Glad you liked them.
EDIT: I would ask, when you get a chance after the holidays, for you to go back to the site you purchased them from and rate them and, if you're so inclined, give them a review. It helps with increasing traffic to the their pages, and it helps my ego a little, too.

Yeah, the Missions thing you were thinking of was probably the Mayan Cutter, which was a throwaway reference in Seattle 2072 that we picked up and ran with as a plot catalyst for a couple adventures, with a copycat Cutter running around.
We had a Nosferatu in one of our adventures, but don't think we've really done much with Vamps since in Missions.
