This is WAY off topic, but I could use some fellow SR minds if anyone is interested :)
I'm cooking up a homebrew space game and would be down for some ideas/advice/help/feedback. So far it's not far from an RPG version of the new Star Citizen game that's in development (robertsspaceindustries.com (http://robertsspaceindustries.com)), with a good bit of Firefly and Star Wars mixed in.
I'm going for rules that are VERY simple and streamlined, with a focus on in-character development, plot progression, and financial rewards. I'm also trying to hash out a simple space combat system that incorporates 3D combat without being hellish confusing to newcomers.
If any of this strikes your fancy let me know! It's kinda my baby, but I'd love some help parenting ;)
Questions welcome, of course!
Cheers Chummers! Raven

Honestly, if you want it simple and streamlined, I'd go for a FATE derivative. Zones work great for 3D combat while still being flexible, it's very simple, very role-play oriented, etc. All you have to really do for space combat is add a few extra rules about gun and ship positioning.

Unless you play BattleLords of the 23rd Century, there are some scary spells/effects there that only should be used in space (and at a distance to boot) :p

For ease of play, there's always Alternity. Their Stardrive setting is in space and is quite good and easy to play. Unfortunately it's out of print, but books can be found as PDFs.
