So, I've just went through Dragonfall as a decker and noticed an interesting implant - cybereyes with a hidden a datajack. Would you allow that in game, say for 5 ECU?

What is an ECU? And yes, I'd allow it in game.

Equipment Capacity Unit. Stole it from Wyrm, here:

Ahh. Yeah, I'd allow it. Not sure why you'd want to sneak your datajack in your eye though. 0.1 Essence is about as Essence-friendly as things get, and datajacks are not just legal but encouraged in most places.
-
Obviously, you need an eye-drone as well, so you can fly your datajack around (in a 1 meter radius) to 'jack in.
-
Still, for a cybereye add-on it seems kind of bulky. Same capacity cost as ocular drone? More? Less? What do you think?

Not... exactly what I had in mind.

That's just creepy, MijRai!
I'd probably give it one point less Capacity cost than an Ocular Drone. An Ocular Drone is about as complicated a thing as you can put in your eye. I can't believe I just said that sentence. So I think a datajack should be a little less Capacity cost. But not much less.

The worst part is, now I'm imagining some kind of trans-humanist who gets a pair of eyes like that; he keeps them flying over his head for 360 degree overwatch, and to look like a slug with eyestalks.
-
I'd put its Capacity at 3 or 4 looking at the Essence cost in 2E and current Essence:Capacity eyeware ratios.

Actually this is an old school trick out of SR2 Cybertechnology pg 20. It is handy when you don't want an obvious datajack visible, perhaps to keep a certain cover intact.
There actually was two styles:
one where you tapped the iris to open it and reveal the standard datajack.
The second system was kind of neat, an optical scanning datajack. A two part system, you had a small battery sized emitter that plugged into any data-out port on the system and it sent out the data in a low power laser beam that you looked at with the optical eye and it translated the data.
While I imagine wireless pretty much made the latter obsolete, it might still have some uses for devious minds.
-
A I like that laser idea. That's immune to hacking!

Exactly my thoughts. Although I admit I was expecting something more primitive, like, say, removing an eye to reveal a datajack in the eye socket.

For stealthy datajack options, my decker has a second 'jack inside his skin pocket.

You could do it that way and it would work well with the ocular drone you would pop out to keep an eye out while you work as has been mentioned above. :P
-
Considered it. Rejected, because I prefer to stuff the leftover space with other add-ons. Drone takes too much of it.
-
What about having a hidden datajack in a fingertip? Did that with an otaku character once, worked nicely.
-
Handy AND less creepy.

I believe that back in the day you had the option to even install one on your cyberear or any other orifices should you choose to do so.
I never got around to install one in an ear of a character,
But the idea of walking in on a decker with their pants down and cord inserted is both disturbing and hilarious. I really need to do that to my players one day ... Discover such a decker that is

Why, THANK YOU for that lovely pic, PiXeL01. :o
Seriously, this is third time in less than a year's time that I have to use laes. You chummers will get me addicted.

How would you know?
A data jack in the ear would be interesting. Would make players paranoid about any security with those little earpieces!

Because I can't remember what I've done for hours and my laes stock is decreasing. Constantly.
