Title: Recruitment-Who's up for London?
Post by: biotech66 on <01-26-15/1329:57>
I want to post more here, play more Shadowrun 5e, and get deeper into play by post games.  Who wants to join me?  London Falling just launched, and I'd like to run through the missions.  Post if interested.

being a brit it'd be rude not to :-) lets see how the london in here matches my london game :-)
Any house rules to adhere to?
I'd like to play a face character as I never get to!

Is this going to be a PbP or will you be having sessions on Skype or some other voice service?
Title: Re: Recruitment-Who's up for London?
Post by: ProfGast on <01-27-15/0214:00>
I'd be interested in trying my hand at a PbP if there's space...

Now with things starting to stabilize and I can focus more on the other game I'm in, I'm in for joining into london with a centaur medic.

Is there room for a well-travelled magical theorist / ex-corpsec? Possibly infected, if it's an option, and wouldn't splinter the team to anyone's mind.
Title: Re: Recruitment-Who's up for London?
Post by: Citrate on <01-27-15/0832:10>
Any chance I could get in on this?

If possible I'd prefer to play mage or a street samurai
Title: Re: Recruitment-Who's up for London?

I'm interested.
Got a place for an Adept Investigator?

Also, a question, what year does London Falling take place in roughly?  I'm trying to build a basic London Timeline (been diving through the setting background) up to "present day"
Title: Re: Recruitment-Who's up for London?
Post by: biotech66 on <01-27-15/2145:09>
wow, that was fast.  Let's answer a few questions.
1)We're doing play by post.  No skype on this one
2)I Think it's 2075 right now the London Series.
3)There are a ton of people, so let's go the first six who post and say they are in will be in.  Sound good?
4)I'm looking for about a post a weekday.  I can do more, but if you can do that I'll be pretty happy.
Title: Re: Recruitment-Who's up for London?
Post by: ProfGast on <01-27-15/2252:28>
Counting previous replies?  I am in either way :-P

Time to get back to constructing that timeline … Unfortunately the main sourcebooks I've got are like 2050s.  Oh well, anyone know a book besides 6WA that's got more up to date info for london?  Found Dirty Tricks but that's it so far

Edit: Aha, Conspiracy Theories has the 4th ed entry.  Time to do some light reading.
Title: Re: Recruitment-Who's up for London?
Post by: Novocrane on <01-27-15/2314:57>
Sounds good to me.
Title: Re: Recruitment-Who's up for London?
Post by: Volker on <01-28-15/0007:54>
I'd love to. If there's a post rate of once a workday and I don't have to GM (yet again), I'd join happily. But if there is a storm of interest, I guess I would allow others to step forward as I already play (or GM) in another thread.
If you'd like me to join, I can fill whatever gaps we have: shaman, combat mage, samurai, decker, I'm in for everything.
Title: Re: Recruitment-Who's up for London?
Post by: ProfGast on <01-28-15/0116:12>
So, other important questions of note:
What books are allowed, any specific rules (Sum-to-ten, classic chargen, karmagen?), and general availability?

I found in my readings that Awakened are highly regulated in London, does this have any effect on our characters?

Im down for a London PbP. Just let us know if you have any house rules and which books we can use. Once we get the core group decided we can hash out roles and back stories

While waiting for rulings on what we can chargen with, I threw together this brief timeline of London.

1994: Edward Arthur Charles Gordon-Windsor future Lord Protector is born.
2009: Charles III crowned
2011: The Awakening, Stone Circles and ley lines EVERYWHERE
2012: Charles III Abdicates and vanishes.  George VII ascends to throne.
2014: Act of Dissolution, Treaty of Galway creates United Free Republic of Ireland
2021: Goblinization.  George VII dies undergoing Goblinization.
2025: George VIII Crowned .  Office of the Lord Protector is created, Lord Marchment named Lord Protector.
2027: Magical Practitioner's Act passed by the Office of the Lord Protector.
2031: Start of the EuroWar I
2037: End of EuroWar
2038: Project 42-20 revealed to public.  Lambeth Containment Zone (The Squeeze, Unreal City) is created
2039: Terrorist Actions cause the Green Party (druids) to seize most of the control of Parliament
2047: London Bridge Station bombed, the Underground is restructured
2051: Princess Caroline marries Jurgen Meiers
2057: Princess Caroline divorces Jurgen Meiers
2061: Year of the Comet.
2062: Lyonesse Emerges from English Channel.  The Pendragon appears during the Winter Solstice
2064: Crash 2.0, Winternight et all
2066: Policlubs march on St. Paul's cathedral, riots burn the landmark to the ground.
2071: Pendragon stages march against Lord Protector's office.  March ends at Buckingham with the support of now-Queen Caroline.  Pendragon vanishes.  Lord Protector's office abolished after Lord Protector steps down.
2075: Present Day

Things to note: Date unknown but Caroline ascended to the throne sometime between 2063 and 2071.  2063 and prior the monarch was George the VIII

Should give most people a fair baseline of what they were likely to have seen depending on how old they are.

Which Six?

General Consensus seems to be
1. CSJarrat
2. Imveros
3. ProfGast
4. Triskavanski
5. Novocrane
6. Citrate

.. Waitlist appears to be…
Volker
Jack_Spade

That look reasonable to everyone involved?  Gotta wait for biotech66 to weigh in the final note but at least the way most of us have been reading it is the above.

I'd say it all relies on whether or not CSJarat is willing to be serge 3 or if Volker has a better idea for our group trisk and I are going to call the wild stallions! ;)

Ok so now that we have our team and out back ups, would you like us to talk concepts here or over in the ooc thread? I assume here just to keep the OOC thread as clean as possible for game time!

To that end, trisk and i are going to have a band called Wild Stallions

Quote from Trisk
Quote
But my main thought with it, the two form a band together cause bands get chicks. And so does shadow running.

It would be most excellent if you want to join. Trisk has a centaur drummer? I was leaning charisma mage (haven't had a chance to look at traditions yet) who is the lead singer? That still leaves a spot for bass, lead guitar, and the decker/techno could have the keytar. Babes love keytar

Party on dudes

Looking to bring the whole team in? I'm wondering if I should change my mind and go naga, (also whether there's a sasquatch) if the team's going to be rocking the light red vertical hair style.

We were hoping to crank that b@#$h to 11 especially since the GM seemed ok with it too!

Anyone who wants is welcome in Wild Stallions, but entry is not required. We will only look more ridiculous when paired with a regular runner. My only question is how would a naga play an instrument? i guess you could be the singer and i could play lead guitar. The only pre req is that none of us can have ranks in preform and we should probably spend some contact points on groupies so at least a few people come to our shows. I'm currently making an oni with melanin control so i can do my own face paint. As well as hang time so i can stay in the saddle while trisk's centaur wall runs ^_~

Be Excellent to each other!

no need to if you don't want to. A regular Joe will just make us look even more ridiculous by comparison!

I probably won't be making a Wild Stallions stage member, at least at first, but I'd like a quick check on people who are going to be awakened in the group.  I'd like to reiterate that from all that I've read, native Awakened to ye olde Britain are encouraged to register along with tissue samples from a very young age, so obvious magic may buy us into some extra trouble depending on how the GM runs it.

So far I think I have

CSJarrat: mundane Face.
Imveros: Oni Mysad/charisma caster rocker
Triskavanski Adept Centaur Rocker
Citrate: ???
Novocrane: ??? rocker maybe??? Squatch/Naga? (
Myself:???

So far that's 2 or 3/6 awakened, no registered C-net/Matrix specialists.  I was looking into doing an infiltrator of sorts but with that lineup I may be leaning more towards tech-type

Also quick note, none of the cha traditions tickled my rocking fancy so i went Chaos tradition, though i still have a good cha and the influence group along with the improve cha spell. So i will be DPS/Off face/Utility mage. The sheet will be up soon

If you and Trisk are planning on Perform-less wonders though, I feel like having a character who absolutely hates the showbiz scene but turns out to actually have a lot of talent might be fun to run with.  Makes for a good reveal later in any case.

ok, here's my submission, first draft and subject to GM approval of course:

Mike "Mick" Smith.
Birmingham lad, still speaks with a bit of a brummy accent but it's mellowed a touch in the 5 years he's been down in London.
At 30, he's seen enough and had a few scrapes over the years, working primarily in security.
He'd worked his way up to middle management, doing alright for himself. His charm and dedication helped him make friends, but a
motorbike trip up in the north yorkshire moors ended in disaster as he hit an oncoming drone tractor and was severely injured.
He would have been paralysed were it not for the wonders of modern medicine, having his arm and spinal column rebuilt as the broken bones were set and left to heal.
The extended sick-leave was enough for his rivals to secure his unemployment, they had him strung up for gross misconduct; willfully participating in an activity deemed hazardous to an employees continued employment.
His partner left amongst all the financial strife and the corporate-paid flat was yanked along with his contract.
It wasn't long before his skills were needed out in the shadows. Contacts set him up with a few "friends of friends" and he's been running for about a year now,
Generally being able to cut a deal or pull a con in situations that many wouldn't.
Outside of "work" he's an avid motoGP fan, doing his best to watch as many races as the irregular working hours will allow and likes heading into town for a beer or two.
He's 5'11", short dark hair and sports a stubbly beard that only disappears for formal meets.

go for it! There is nothing a well balanced party can do that 5 mages cant do better! Except outer space space...

@Csjarrat
It will be funny then if Novo goes naga with trisk being a centaur you will hate all of us. Which i guess is appropriate giving as how you will be prim and proper and we will be insane. We will only confirm your bias XD

Novocrane: ??? rocker maybe??? Squatch/Naga?
It will be funny then if Novo goes naga with trisk being a centaur you will hate all of us. Which i guess is appropriate giving as how you will be prim and proper and we will be insane. We will only confirm your bias XD

Naga MysAd rocker it is. Still working on background, but the general gist is 'ex security paracritter', and I'm trying to figure out if the naga of Angkor Wat (or other groups) are inclined towards freeing their own kind, or if he'd have to escape on his own steam.

My only question is how would a naga play an instrument? i guess you could be the singer
Magic Fingers? Instruments or vocals, I'm ok with either.

I think we'll have to call you three by themed street names.  Cowboy, Faithful Steed and Lasso maybe.

Crunch updated for my character sheet.

For those of you who are serious about having this band thing I recommend a quick glance through at least the Music section of Attitude, if not seeing as you can dig up a copy of Shadowbeat.  Remember, in the 6th World you don't NEED to be skilled with an instrument.  A synthlink can convert your brainwaves straight into music!

Speaking of which.. Isn't that the book with Lady Gaga in it?

Being something of a pun maker.. Of course I immediately thought of Lady Naga.

Aside from Lady Naga and Lasso, any ideas on runner names? ::)

I'm sure we could play somewhere with just raw potential, but what kind of gigs are you imagining?

Also relevant; it looks like I'm going to be out of town this coming week, albeit still able to check in & post somewhat via mobile.

Personally, I'm imagining more gigs in indy type places.. The sort of places where the worse you are, the better they like you cause you're not mainstream.

Possibly as well those of us who are in the band, use it as the cover for our various operations on the shadowrun side.

Oh please, the Centaur was gonna be "Lasso."  You're Cowboy…

All joking aside, any more uncommon snake name Asp or somesuch might work.

Unless you want to go for the really silly names like Monty the Python, or Sir Hiss.

@Novocrane

So I did a quick lookover of your naga…
I really recommend against taking Symbiosis in the Smoke.  Especially with a Low lifestyle but mostly in general, since there's very few places in London you could Attune to and not take a persistent -2 to all physical dice pools

However if you're set on it, The Village district of London in Hampstead Heath way up north seems like your best bet, and there are a few low class suburbs in it.  It's also the centre of power for the Druidic movement though so… take what you will from that.

The other thing to be concerned about is In Debt -5.  As long as you understand that means you owe ¥37,500 to someone who is expecting monthly payments of ¥3,750 to keep them from tying you into knots, off of a Published Mission's payout…. then you're good.  Othwerwise you may look like:

You make good points on both, Prof.

Negative metagenetics are pretty difficult to slot together when you have a theme and are taking incompatibility into account (it does say you have to be equal +30 / -30 or err on +1 positive, but can I just fudge the negative qualities and count it as -30 when it goes over?), and I can trim about 15k from gear. TBH, not sure what Missionss payouts are like, but I'm assuming low and that only cold, hard credsticks count as repayment for debts.

Hi guys, past few days have been pretty hectic for me IRL and I havent had a lot of time to spend on my character.

I've nearlly finished and should hopefully have him finished after work on monday. I thought I should just give you a heads up that I might be a little late.

Sorry

Personally, I don't quite like the 5th edition changelings as much as I liked the fourth edition ones. Mostly the +30/-30 effect.. When it used to give you double the positive and equal negative of what you spent. Just so hard to go into  the whole mutagentic thing without something totally off basis like being a very fat shadowrunner, stinking like crazy or something else that goes against what I was wanting for my character.

Though on the otherside.. It doesn't cost positive quality points anymore..

If they had negative metagenetics at -2 or -7 that weren't full of incompatibilities, that would do it for me.

What do you mean by that?

Like Scales being incompatible with fur?

Pretty much. Also things that aren't exclusive, but contradict each other - camouflage and bioluminescence, mood hair, striking skin colouring, etc. It cascades as you try to shift things around.

Which is how I wound up taking feathers and looking like quetzacotl.

Well when we get close to finalizing our characters, maybe post them as your first post in the OOC thread?  That makes it easy to reference and crosstrack?

Looking at your character I noticed you didn't have a carry and conceal license.
