Title: Stats for different sized weapons and equipment
Post by: Castamaer on <01-29-15/1246:04>
So, as I continue to make characters to get a better understanding of rules and such, I decided to try my hand at making something that to me seemed a little out of the ordinary....

A Pixie Physical Adept.

Most of the character gen went OK.  but as I'm looking at gear, I'm curious if there are any rules regarding cost for characters that small.  Obviously, a Pixie wielding a simple knife would look awkward and bulky.  But I cannot seem to find any rules on if they have to buy different sized equipment and how that affects stats such as damage.

Any help is appreciated.

Damage stats are not changed.

Yes, it requires suspension of disbelief, but it's probably the easiest mechanical solution.

If there's one thing SR does not need, it's even more mechanics. *lol*

"Suspension of disbelief" it is!

Thanks Whiskey

Essentially, costs for lifestyle cover the adaptation of gear to physical size, per errata iirc. So buying a knife for your pixie costs the same as a human's will, it will just be sized for the character buying it.

i'd just rule they can't use many things
like no assault rifles, no swords or halberds, can't physically drive a car etc.

same would go for a centaur, can't sit in a normal airline seat (cargo only?), etc.

A normal sword would probably count as a halberd for a pixie anyway :)

But yeah, with no lifestyle modifiers for metasapients in general and pixies in particular, it seems odd that pretty much any equipment except simple stuff and clothing (hey, doll's clothes can be pretty cheap!) would be available given their exotic nature. If dwarves pay 20% extra for lifestyles and trolls pay 100% extra, it would stand to reason that pixies, centaur, and naga would pay at least as much if not more to accomodate equipment purchases.
