Inspired by a scene in a certain movie I'm entertaining myself by making a military transport vehicle (rover 2072) and I thought I'd see what people think are the best weapons to take (and how close I actually got). So please recommend weapons for the following under the assumption your being allowed to take any weapon that meets the category and you'd have the skill to use it. There's 1 heavy weapon mount covering the front 90 degree arc, and 3 standard ones covering the sides and rear providing a full 360 degree coverage. If it fits in there you can choose any weapon guas rifle, yamaha assault rifle, lasers, missle launchers etc. So which would you choose . . .
1 Heavy Weapons Mount front mounted.
2 standard side mounted weapons
1 standard rear mounted weapon.

Front: Ruhrmetall SF-20 HMG loaded with 500 EX-Explosive rounds
Sides: Onotari Arms JP-k20 loaded with 250 APDS rounds
Rear: Barret Model 122 loaded with 250 APDS rounds
-
Front: Panther Assault Cannon (However many you think a Heavy Mount holds for an assault cannon)
Sides: Ares Lancer MP Laser (Ammo? What ammo?)
Back: Ares Alpha (High Explosive grenades and APDS ammunition)
But that's just me.

Thanks for the respones. I think an assault cannon would have 500 as it uses bullets not rockets/missles and that's the ammo load for a heavy mount.
-
Front - Rotary autocannon (or SA capable assault cannon)
Sides - Assault Shotguns
Rear - Alpha loaded with smoke grenades and AV rounds

Well... I guess it depends what you want. Is this for defense, protecting the vehicle and occupants? Or is this an offensive setup designed to get though vehicle through any resistance?
-
Defense.

Oh, if it's for defense I'd go with something FA capable all around.
Keep the HMG up top, but put Ares Alpha assault rifles or Auto-Assault shotguns on the side and rear mounts depending on expected engagement range (ARs for medium to long, shotguns for close range).

Allow me to mirror & combine the above into the following layout.
Front = Assault Cannon (Maybe optional Armitech instead.)
Sides = AA-16 Assault Shotguns
Rear = Ares Alpha (AR/GL)
Door opener up front, close defense on the sides, & ranged deterrent covering the back.

I'd go with front HMG with apds, and all others with Alphas (because that gets me 2 for 1, AR and GL) (apds for the AR, thermal smoke followed by HE for the GL). That would be my best do it all setup, using concealable pop up turrets.

You guys got the big guns covered already - but IMHO, I would include at least one large harpoon gun (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/17/Whaling_harpoon.jpg)! Or you can go old school (http://www.arcticwebsite.com/WhaleHarpGun1.jpg). There is just an intimidation factor that is hard to overlook when you have a harpoon pointed at you... ;D
Oh and one of these... (http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/SPECIALS/2003/iraq/interactive/ground.weapons/19.multiplerocketlauncher.jpg)

Personally I would be intimidated by any turreted weapon pointing in my direction though the wider the barrel the more nervous I would be
-
Is that a metal storm or an MRL? Though I have to agree, metal slug style giant harpoons would be pretty sweet.
