At Club Penmubra:

Redline is wearing an armor vest, concealed with a long-sleeved synth leather shirt and fabric top. She wears a metallic-silver skirt which has the effect of a disco ball, reflecting light in rainbows of colors. In one of her boots is a Streetline Special holdout loaded with a single magazine.
Her rigger console,  a Remington Suppressor and an Ingram Smartgun X with six magazines of ammunition each are secured in a lockbox on the floor of her Toyota Gopher and covered with a grungy blanket.

Palming roll to sneak a Streetline Special Holdout past security.

Guardian spirit force 6. It's a possession tradition, so it will only ever be in physical space while possessing me or someone else.  IE no physical stats, and all astral stats would be 6. 1 service left.  When it does possess me, all of my physical stats are raised by 3 (except reaction which would max out at +4 I think)

Coat, Contacts, Headphones.  My deck (on silent running) is S7 F6 DP5 A3, running Wrapper (Comlink), Encryption, and Exploit is stored 'inside' (Conceal 10).  Ares on my right arm slide.  EBR with silencer loaded with stick and shock in my duffle.  Jammer, Medkit, 2 datataps, my patches, one of each grenade, and a dose of psyche in the duffle as well.  Using Derek as SIN.

Duffle is behind seats of my truck, parked nearby.  Will pull it out when getting in position.

Actually I use my own concealment power as a pixie.  I use the power of movement, and have the other one in reserve. 
Did I manage to sneak in invisibly?  Ie did I manage to sneak into the building using a side/ employee entrance or an upper floor window that was open etc?  If not then I'll stash the rapier at the top of a tree or on a building ledge that is out of sight/reach of any windows. 
Did I manage to sneak into the room unseen? If so I'll remain invisible for now.

Since I am uneducated and don't have any skill in computers, I don't know if you'll require me to make a roll to turn my commlink on and call Hank to find out if he knows anything about or anyone at the said health facility.  Like I said before once we have the money, I'll try to call Manny to see if he has Mage goggles on hand that I can drop by and pick up. If not, then I'll so that he put in an order for them.
If I do have to roll to turn the link on and make a call, and fail, I'll ask one of my teammates if anyone knows how to operate one of these confounded things, and can show me how to make it work.

After talking I log into NeedleNet and send Blackout a message, "Heya.  Just got a job helping out your boy Kingston.  Could you send me a recent pic, just to make sure we don't get pulled into a bait and switch?  Also, he have any weird med issues our medic should know about?".  After sending the message I hop on the public and pull up the basic data on Health Point in Renton.  I look specifically for public access, lists of doctors, general floorplans, visiting hours, and for who owns it.

There's two ways we can run this:

Both require that I know exactly what it is you want to know, so at least in the IC have her think to herself, Hunh, what have I heard about X, recently... or something.

Then:

1. She tries to remember:  Roll the knowledge skill with a limit based on the hits on a memory check.

2. She actively tries to run down information:  takes up some of your down time actions, but you can roll the skill outright, with added dice for any suitable contacts you might have.

You remember something about a run in Renton.  A High Threat Response team was called out to a NeoNet HR office building.  No one knew what the run was about, they were only talking about it because this kid calling himself 'Mace' almost got geeked by Knight Errant with an older runner taking the hit for him.  The team got away, rumor has it that they completed the job, but an ambulance showed up to take away the bullet riddled body of the older runner.  No one thought that the guy was gonna survive the night.

Health Point is a 'teaching' hospital.  A few residents, but mostly medical interns, both doctors and nurses.  They are cheaper than standard hospitals, so Knight Errant often uses them to patch up criminals that they've banged up and want to keep around, usually for questioning, they rarely spend much effort reviving folks they would just send to the slammer otherwise.

Staying in AR, I log into the Matrix and access the public part of the Host for the Health Point.  I look for a list of doctors, visitor's map, basic hospital overview (their webpage info).  I also try and get a peek at their security, to get a feel for how powerful the Host is (Host rating), get a view of the Patrol IC, and get a general overview.  I don't do anything that will trigger OS or the IC, just get a basic overview of the hospital while I listen to the others.

After I have that sort of information I will sort it into AROs, with a basic map and list of doctors/interns for everyone.  I also sort out any Dwarf interns they have listed.

I will leave it to you to roll anything I need for this.  My deck has Wrapper running (looks like a comlink), and I keep my persona looking pretty average/nondescript.  I am not going to sneak or do anything to raise any notice this visit.

Ravener is able to easily locate the Health Point Host.  The Host will happily grant 1 Mark to any who request it for their Public Host.

Within, you do find a list of Residents and a basic Floor Plan.  You see that they have an internship program, but do not find a list of current interns.  It notes the Knight Errant is the contracted security company.

A Matrix Perception Test locates the Secure Host as well as the Patrol Ice in the Public host.  The Public host is a rating 3 Host, the Secure host is a rating 4 Host.  The Secure Host does not offer Marks, so you would have to actually hack it.  It is separate from the Public Host.

After parking on a street near the closest Stuffer Shack to the Ambulance I am going to make my run against the Health Point host.  I will be in Hot Sim VR, running Exploit, Baby Monitor, and Sneak.  My ASDF is set at 7/3/5/5.  As I am running Baby Monitor, I am going to know my OS score at all times, if it reaches 30 I will pause what I am doing and make a decision to continue or jack out and reboot depending on what I am doing.  (Pause my actions and let me know where I am).  If I pick up a mark from the system, assume that I am also pausing and probably jacking out to reboot.

Since I know where the host is already, I will transfer to the public host (so I am off the public grid).  I will then switch to silent running, and Hack on the Fly to get on the Private Host (+2d Hotsim, -2d Silent, 15d[7]  http://orokos.com/roll/294272  4 hits).  If I get a mark against me, I will drop out to AR and reset my deck.  I will then try again. 

Once on the host I will search for the Security Spider and IC.  If the spider is running silent, I make a Matrix Perception check (6d[5] http://orokos.com/roll/294274  2 hits).  If I get sufficient hits, I am interested spotting the spider and his Firewall rating.  If I don't spot him I move on.   

Then I will search for the new hire Intern datafiles, Matrix Search (6d[5] repeated until I find it or am discovered, assuming no higher than threshold 3 as it is regularly accessed...http://orokos.com/roll/294278 2 hits...http://orokos.com/roll/294279  2 more hits)

I will then Hack on the Fly to put a mark on the Intern List (15d[7] http://orokos.com/roll/294280  sigh, 3 hits  If I have sufficient net hits, I will look for a data bomb.  If not, I will Hack on the fly again (15d[7] http://orokos.com/roll/294281  5 hits)  Looking for Data Bomb, and file protection and level.

Next, I will either Disarm Data Bomb (edged for 8d6 http://orokos.com/roll/294282 3 hits), and/or Crack File as needed (switching Sleaze/Attack first, then 13d[7] http://orokos.com/roll/294283 1 hit...not sure I like this dice program...).  If I need to retry to Crack File (at this point with a mark on me, 13d[7] http://orokos.com/roll/294284  4 hits).

With 4 hits, you do not sleaze a MARK.  You reboot and try again.  Despite 7 hits on your second attempt, you still do not manage a MARK.  Third times a charm, as you get 5 hits and learn that the Host is a rating 4 Host.

You enter the Host.  It is sculpted to look like a hospital with very clean architecture.  You notice that there are a few roving orderlies, probably Patrol IC spawned from your previous failed attempts.

You conduct a data search to find the files you are looking for.  As the search itself is not an illegal action, the orderlies don't seem to pay mind to you, even on those few occasions you are sure one of them saw you.  It takes only a few minutes to find the list.

You manage to sleaze a MARK onto the file on your first attempt.  The orderlies move about and you reflexively duck your head as they pass you, standing before the filing cabinet, but they don't seem to notice you.

You have to start with a Matrix Perception Test to see if there even is a Data Bomb on the file.  You get two hits on the Matrix Perception Test and do not find a Data Bomb.  The file is not encrypted.  You do not use any Edge at this time.

As I am still undetected, I perform a Matrix Search to find the admissions from the day Kingston got captured and the day afterwards, specifically male orks with trauma.  (6d[5] http://orokos.com/roll/294485 2 hits ... second test, 6d[5]  http://orokos.com/roll/294486  1 hit)  Once found, I Hack on the Fly for a mark (15d[7]  http://orokos.com/roll/294487 3 hits, if it doesn't work (and give me the net hits to detect a data bomb) I retry 15d[7] http://orokos.com/roll/294488  7 hits)  As every 2 net hits counts as a hit on Matrix Perception, I look for data bomb then lock on the file.

Now that I have found and marked the file, I Disarm Data Bomb if needed(edged 8d[5] http://orokos.com/roll/294490 then http://orokos.com/roll/294491 for 2 hits).  I then crack the file if needed(after swaping Attack with Sleaze just long enough to do so) (13d[7] http://orokos.com/roll/294494  5 hits). After getting file access I copy it into my deck (edit file 10d[5] http://orokos.com/roll/294496  3 hits). 

If I end up triggering IC or with an OS of 33 (Baby Monitor is running) or higher before I start disarming or cracking file, switch to AR and then jack out.  If I am already disarming or cracking file, then try and complete and then switch to AR and then jack out.  If it gets more complicated (taking damage, dangerous IC, ect...) then pause and let me know and I will react.  Otherwise, if I need to make other rolls please make them for me.

Redline is wearing her custom-fit Sleeping Tiger kit and is lugging her Remington 950 and Remington Suppressor for weaponry. The Suppressor is holstered, and she's carrying the stripped-down 950 in a brief case.

Now that we have everyone together and are some time has passed from my last run I am going to hop in and try and get Kingston's file so we know his room number and medical condition.  Running ASDF of 3/7/5/6 with Exploit, Sneak, and Encryption in Hot Sim. 

First I enter the public host, then Hack on the Fly to get a mark on the private host (17d[7] http://orokos.com/roll/298873  6 hits). if that somehow fails, I log out and reboot then try again.

Switching to Running Silent I enter the private host.  I look around to try and spot the Spider (Matrix Perception of 6d[5] http://orokos.com/roll/298874  2 hits).  I then search for Kingston's file again, as I found it last time I do not know if I need another search.  If so, then here are the rolls (6d[5] http://orokos.com/roll/298875  no hits, but not a glitch  ...  http://orokos.com/roll/298876 2 hits  ....  http://orokos.com/roll/298877  1 hit )

After finding his file I Hack on the Fly to get a mark (15d[7] http://orokos.com/roll/298878  only 3 hits, so spending an edge to reroll  http://orokos.com/roll/298880  giving me a total of 6 hits).  Using net hits to detect Data Bomb (if 2 net hits) and File Protection (if 4 net hits).  Then Disarm Data Bomb (if necessary)  (edged roll of 8d[6] http://orokos.com/roll/298881 4 sixes, so rolling sixes http://orokos.com/roll/298882 for a total of 5 hits).  If protected, then swap attack and sleaze long enough to Crack File (13d[7] http://orokos.com/roll/298883  5 hits).  I then copy the file and get out.

I take position near Redline, switching my coat and mask to an appropriate color to blend into the rooftop site.  I swap Wrapper out for Sneak on my deck and then enter hot sim VR.  I look around for any unusual presence in the matrix here (Matrix Perception 6d[5] 3 hits http://orokos.com/roll/308632).  As long as I don't detect anything that looks it is going to be more trouble than expected, I enter the public host and wait for the rest of the team to tell me that we are starting.  I run my comlink audio through my VR interface so I can hear it.  When they are ready to start I attempt to get a mark on the host (Hack on the Fly  17d[7]  6 hits  http://orokos.com/roll/308633).  I then alter my icon to match those of the workers, go silent, and then enter the private host.

OK... here's the situation.

It's time for Initative Rolls from everybody.  Some of your actions are going to be holding actions for a bit, but we're getting the rolls now.

Whiskey and Raiden have the gurney with Kingston on it, they have just pushed out of the room.  They are approximately 50 meters from the exit.  They can push the gurney at a walking rate or running rate of 3x instead of 4x.

Ravener and Redline are positioned on a building across the way, ready to provide cover fire.  You see two Knight Errant Officers enjoying a cup of Soykaf in the parking lot, approximately 25 meters from the entrance on the opposite side of where the ambulance is waiting.

Cherie is on top of the ambulance.

Jujin is in Kingston's hospital bed laying in wait, ready to cause a diversion.

I don't know who is driving the ambulance... right now I imagine Whiskey or Raiden will be manually driving it.

Jujin has +2 to Strength and +2 to Agility for the next four rounds, at which point he'll need to make a Drain Roll (Body + Willpower) for each one to soak 2 and 3 Stun damage respectively.

Redline pulls the trigger.  I'm assuming, since we didn't get that far, that she's got Gel Rounds loaded for non-lethal on these beat cops?  Well, the target counts as being 'unaware' so he gets no defense.  That's 8 net hits.  12 base damage on the Remington 950, makes it 20S, AP -3.  The target goes down in a heap.  There is no silencer/suppressor on the weapon, so BOOM goes the gunshot, probably heard for quite some distance around.

Ravener got a Mark on the host.  HE may enter the host if he wishes on his next turn, which is NOW.

That will be the last action this Combat Turn and we will reroll initiative.

I will then switch to AR and get my rifle ready.  Note that I do have a silencer and am loaded with Stick and Shock.

Redline also holds his action.

Raiden is running along with Whiskey.  They move another 12 meters.  That leaves them with 26 meters to the door, about 9 seconds till they are out, but then another 30 meters to the ambulance.

Inside several individuals run into the room Jujin is in.  He's under the sheet, so he doesn't see who they are, right off, but boy will they be surprised when they pull the sheets off, unfortunately, so might Jujin.

So I do need Jujin to make a surprise roll, which is his Reaction + Intuition + 3 (Because he has an idea of what's about to happen.

That's a dice pool of: Reaction 4 (due to Drugs) + Intuition 3 + 3 = 10.

The threshold is 3.  If he doesn't get those 3 successes, he will lose 10 off of his initiative.  You will likely still be able to get the drop on them, but you will not get a second action this combat round.

Then if you want to make an attack, it's your Blade skill (9 + Specialization 2 = 11) + your Agility (7 + Boosted 2 = 9) + Weapon Focus Rating (2) = 22 Dice.  Also, decide if your Elemental Weapon is on and if it's Acid or Electricity (I suggest Electricity).

Once you have rolled those dice, I will give you the results and you can make a narrative post describing the actions.

On Orokos, stick a t5 at the end of your dice rolls to get it to read as successes instead of tallying them, for example: 10d6t5

That said, looks like you aren't surprised.  Unfortunately for everyone else in the room, they ARE surprised.

Lacking a defense test, this makes all 9 of your hits into Net Hits, so that adds 9 to your damage.  Your Katana damage is Str + 3 which is 11.  Net Hits adds to that for a total of 20 damage.

They get to soak with Body + Armor (- your Armor Piercing, which is 3) which ends up being 5 hits.  So 15 dmg.  That pretty much murders him in any way you want to describe, so go ahead and make an IC post describing exactly what happens in the moment of the attack.  Then I'll move on to others.

A 'knock out' attack doesn't exist with a sword.  However, you can make a 'called shot' to 'split' the damage between 'physical and stun'.  So you do at the -4 penalty to making this particular called shot.  I just knocked off the last 4 dice of the roll, so that took away 3 of your Hits, leaving you with 5.  He still cannot defend as he was surprised and won't get a defense roll until he acts.  So you do 16 Damage -3 AP.  He soaks 5, so takes 11 damage, split between physical and stun, 5 and 6 respectively.  He gets knocked to the ground, hard to say if he'll stay there.

You can make your IC post reflecting the above.

It's hard to do, mostly because vehicles that aren't on aren't broadcasting and even if they are, the parking lot has a lot of cars.  You'd actually be better off meat world percepting.

OK, I rolled for you, 9 Hits.  You rush past the first guy and hit the second guy, nearly shearing him in half with 13 points of damage after all is said and done (he only had 10 so he's quite dead, sadly.  Go ahed and post the IC of that when you get a chance.

Meanwhile, Whiskey continues pushing the cart with Raiden, now that she sees Jujin hit the hallway and that he seems fine.

He fires off several rounds from his pistol, in a panic.  He scores a successful hit, several bullets slapping into the armored jacket Jujin wears.  He grunts at the sting, but the jacket stops most of it, resulting in only 5 points of Stun damage.  However, Jujin will be at -1 for all Dice Rolls until he can heal.  Those will be bruises.

Shaihulude, you can incorporate that attack from the officer into your IC if you like so that you can play out Jujin's reaction to getting hit by bullets.  The Knight Errant guy there is super panicked.

I'll try a charisma plus will roll (15 dice threshold 3) to be able to attack the first sniper with a disabling attack.  Assuming that I make it, I'll cast clout at force 10 (12 dice to attack, 15 dice to resist a drain of 7). Do 10 + net successes AP 10 I'll use edge of 5 on the attack roll to post edge, and if I take more than one box of drain, I'll use edge to post roll for drain. 
If I don't make my roll to be able to do a disabling attack, I'll cast chaos instead in basically the same format.

You overcame the Cat Mentor limitation.  You get 5 hits on your clout attack.  The sniper is 'engaged in combat' so even though he has no way to know you are there or see you or know your casting, he gets a defense roll.  Only 3 hits.

He is going to be taking 12S v-10.

But your drain:

1 Stun.

From actions before you have used 2 Edge and had 2 Physical, so now you have used 2 Edge, are at 1 Stun and 2 Physical.

The sniper reacts by firing at the source of the spell.  Without taking time to aim, he fires, also scoring 5 Hits.  Cherie tries to roll out of the way but only gets 4 Hits.  Does she opt to lose 10 Initiative to go full defense (and get 8 more dice)?  If so then she is missed.  If not then she gets hit for 13P v-4, soaking 6 and taking 7P.

Go ahead and make the IC post as you like :)

Unjust to make sure, the shooter did take the -6 dice not being able to see me.  While he can definitely know about where I am, he still shouldn't be able to actually see me, and I've been taking the -2 dice for sustaining invisibility.

I did not overlook it!  Keep in mind that page 235 notes that in order to find hidden icons, you have to have some idea that there are even any in the area.  I take that to mean that you 'see someone but not a corresponding icon' or 'you just got brute forced, but don't see any icons in the area' and not 'I think this alley is suspicious, I look for hidden icons'.

Now you could have specifically stated that you were looking for hidden icons, and if that is a default question on any future Matrix Perception tests, I'll take that into consideration, but keep in mind that it only works for hidden icons within 100 meters.  Anything beyond 100 meters, you have to have some sort of concrete suspicion before you try to find it.

The next thing to consider is whether these guns are running hidden comeliness or if they are slaved to a decker who has out-processed you.

Finally, I did try to slip in a clue. Clues are always obtuse until you see them in hindsight, though.  The possessed KE Officer in the parking lot took a sudden, odd interest in his commlink.  That was supposed to signal that there was activity on it, activity that the spirit didn't understand, but was meant to be a flag for Ravener to maybe get a few marks on it then perform a snoop then trace action.

Yes, from now on any time I am searching an area with a Matrix Perception my first question is 'are there any hidden icons'.  Note that it is a simple test (not resisted) and uses only 1 hit to know that there are icons running silent in an area.  You only need to make a opposed test if you are trying to find them. 

Soak roll is 12d with 9 hits http://orokos.com/roll/330832, meaning I take 5 Physical and am at a -1 wound penalty.

I move back out of the way, preferably to a place I can put a wall between me and the snipers but still see the HTR guys coming up from the parking lot.  If not, then I will get out of sight of the snipers and look around for any drones flying in the area.

I'll try to remember to use one of your successes on future Matrix Perceptions on asking if there are Hidden Icons within 100m.  Please try to remind me as well.  Also, you are able to find full cover.  The only way you can shoot and maintain the full cover is by firing 'around a corner'.  You can fire normally by reducing your cover to Good Cover +4.  But you are still on the roof and making it to the fire escape (which is not on a side that you can be fired at by the Snipers will expose you for the action in which you attempt the dash (they will get -4 for shooting a sprinting target, as I assume Ravener will sprint).


@ Cherie

You can maintain invisibility.  In order to se you, someone needs to break your invisibility and THEN succeed on an opposed perception roll.  You see no target, but knowing that one is there, you switch perception mode to assensing and easily see the invisible mage.  You cast recklessly to actually hit him.

I took the liberty of spending another point of edge for Cherie to hit the mage, netting her a total of 6 hits.  He defends with 3 hits and takes 11S AP -8.  Cherie soaks all of the drain.  The Mage rolls his soak.  I get zero hits...  I spend a point of edge to reroll.  He gets 1 Hit and a glitch :-/  From what Cherie can see, he isn't out, but he does drop behind the ledge completely, putting him out of the LOS.


@ Ozee

You spend a simple action observing in detail.  There doesn't seem to be anything that you can make out with your improved vision.  You then roll behind full cover.  You have the same options as Ravener in terms of what you can do next.

I am going to raise my Computer skill from 2 to 4 (14 Karma and 7 days) and pick up the Data Anomaly quality (6 Karma).  The last week of free time is going to be put into starting to buy the Computer specialization in Matrix Perception. 

In addition, I want to buy some parts packs so that I can modify my deck array from 6 5 5 3 to 7 5 5 2 (4 parts), buy and modify a Metalink with a self-destruct module, and buy a program module for my deck with Signal Scrub.   For those items with availability I would like to get through Michelle, as they are all decker items.  (will look up prices when I get home, but just wanted to get it out there)

Buying:  Total spent is 3780 nuyen, leaving me with 10120
