Personally I never understood why there ISN'T one. Here's my prototype:
Accuracy: 4
Reach: 1
Damage: 8S(e)
AP: -5
Ammo: 8 charges
Avail.: 8R
Cost: 900Y
Wireless: Readying the extendable baton is a Free Action instead of a Simple Action.
Note: When extended, conc. +2. Otherwise, +0. Battery can be taken out/inserted with a Simple Action.
Batteries are sold separately.
Suggestions?

pretty much I mean theres a stun staff and a stun baton so there should be a middle range stun baton
-
SR5 Page 423 lists a stun baton with the following stats:
Accuracy 4, Reach 1, Damage 9S(e), AP -5, Avail 6R, Cost 750¥
If the only thing you think the above is missing is the ability to collapse for increased concealability, I'd just use the baseline stats for the above but reduce the number of charges to 6 or 8 due to having to fit a smaller battery. I wouldn't personally change anything else.
-
6 charges isn't enough IMHO, though 8 with the ability to change batteries should do it. As for damage, I felt that lowering it to 8 was more... appropriate. Should I bump it back up to 9?
Also, what about the price? I'm not sure if it isn't a little too high.
-
Ya sorry was thinking shock gloves stun rod stun staff but ya considering stun gloves its 8e -5 ap 10 charges..
-
This is one of those things you just shrug, and say "ok".
Keep your conceal stats as above, charge an extra 100 - 300 (whatever you're comfortable with) and keep the same stats.
The handle/hilt isn't really going to change much in size (8 to 10 inches is what they are usually now) and nothing stops the wand from collapsing into the handle. As for the battery, well we make batteries pretty damn small now! (Remember, the taser has its own battery too, and that is in a pistol sized device).
●●●●
The player isn't asking for anything hugely game breaking, just a common sense addition to a standard item that logically there would be a demand for. After all, a tazer 'stick' is safer to the public then a tazer gun. (If the shooter misses... where DO those tazer darts go?? Poor Mr Wiggles....) and having a compact tazer club means appeal to a wider market.
Of course, now anyone who pays the extra fee can get one too...

this got me thinking about a souped-up pair of shock-gloves ;D
shock-gloves 550Y
+ peak discharge battery clip 400Y
+ concealable holster to house the battery discreetly 150Y
=1100Y
for the stats i was thinking
10S(e) -5AP
or
12S(e) -5AP with the explosive ammo rule added :P :D
any thoughts?
-
Hehe, I like the use of explosive ammo rules. I'd allow that.
-
You mean an exploding battery? I'm... not sure if this is a good idea :P
-
No.
Just No.
-
but ballistic knife or sword gan gun or one shot gun cane? ok
-
Explain to me how you have an electrical explosion and NOT lose your hand.
Keep in mind: I am an Industrial Electrician and Instrument Mechanic by trade.

Same way a .50 cal rifle like the Barret M122 loaded with EX-Explosive rounds doesn't blow up your head when it misfires; damage abstraction.
If y'all play with location specific wound rules like those in earlier editions that's fine, but don't assume everyone who comes to these boards do...

A misfire in a weapon means the round didn't go off. Generally clearing the breech the solves the issue and you are good to go. The gun doesn't blow up because the stress of the round doesn't exceed the strength of the breech.
ELECTRICITY DOES NOT EXPLODE!!!!!!
Electricity is the flow of electrons. Pure and simple. It flows from a More positively charged environment to a less charged environment at the molecular level. This Flowing of electrons is impeded by the material that they flow through, and this resistance has the noticeable effect of generating heat. The larger the flow of electrons (volts) and with larger force (amps) results in larger amounts of heat.
WHAT DOES EXPLODE WHEN ELECTRICY IS APPLIED?
With enough flow and enough force, EVERY thing explodes. Meaning, everything is pushed away from the flow of electrons thanks to both the magnetic forces involved and simple physics. What you are "seeing" in an electrical explosion is the matter of the object being pushed away from the electricity... in other words, that was the glove, and your hand, and the coat of the person your touched, and parts of their flesh and bone that exploded away from the flow of electrons. Not the electrons themselves exploding.

First off; chill out, man.
Secondly; did you miss this part of the core book regarding Explosive rounds?
These slugs carry a shaped-charge explosive, designed to explode and fragment on impact. Explosive rounds misfire whenever you roll a critical glitch. When this happens, you must resist one “attack” with a Damage Value equal to the normal damage done by the weapon (and don’t forget the modifier for the explosive rounds). The attack misses its intended target, and the weapon firing the bullets is destroyed.
Like I said. Damage abstraction.

:-\ i meant it to be that if you glitch the attack you electrocute yourself and the gloves are unusable, as in the mentioned rules, but no explosions involved

Ditto. I think we're on the same page, but I think Reaver think we meant making "explosive" shock gloves.

hmmm how about shaped charges on the knuckles? that might do the trick ;D
