Just asking :)
-
Does it matter how many pieces the troll is in? 8)
-
Depends on how mad the troll is at the manhole. OTOH the troll could just go find a trollhole and use that. ;D
-
You can default on the Escape Artist skill if you don't have it..... ;)
-
It is an interesting question... personally considering their size, it's unlikely they'd get many underground maintenance jobs so it's highly unlikely that either the manhole, OR the space it leads to, would be appropriate for a troll.
-
speaking from personal experience as a troll character yes he can fit down through a manhole.
-
I'd say yes to the manhole, probably has to duck in the area underneath, if you're in a situation where the space matters (like dodging), you might take a penalty to the test due to the space being small for you.

A little thread on manhole cover sizes which seem to vary widely from 2 feet to 4 feet diameter.
IMO it would be a tight fit for a Troll, but maybe newer manhole covers would account for metahumans and be even larger (although probably rare)
-
Standard Manhole? Probably not....the nearby storm drain grating however is very likely a better fit...and would most likely be removable...at least the troll can remove it..
-
I think that depends on the city, and how old the infrastructure is.
The older it is, the less likely he is to fit.
-
a troll can probably fit in the main collector tubes, as they are very large (I've seen them, they are huge). The regular sewage collector in normal streets, not so much (humans have to crawl in those). I assume that for a lot of maintenance in sewage collectors they use drones to actually go into the tubes.
-
Yikes crawling along a sewage filled tunnel to fix a blockage before it floods is probably one of the worse jobs I've heard of.
-
It's pretty rough. See for yourself :D

So standard manhole, no, but other (larger-sized) underground access, yes. If they can get a backhoe down there ...
-
Does a troll fit through a manhole? It depends on the needs of the plot.

I think it was a flooding system (so not sewage, but only water), but the guys in Top Gear once drove a car through one (can't recall the episode though). if they can fit a car, you can fit a troll.

that was
germany Belfast i believe, but cant remember, and yes it was supposedly a sewer drain, but i dont believe that for a second. it was more than likely a stormwater run off. and besides that, it was the main (or close to the main) trunk of the line, the secondary lines are much smaller, and have much smaller access holes.

That was the one. And as I said before: In the big mains, you can fit a troll, in the smaller ones they will have difficulties.
But I think they will go in there with drones as then 1 person can watch a whole group of them and they only send teams down there if there's a problem the drones can't handle.

Mmmm Roto-rooter taking your jobs since 2057. I admit there's a lot of dangerous confined spaces where having automated drones do the basic maintenance would make sense. Even some industrial equipment it could be nice so you don't risk loosing a hand knocking an obstruction loose because some idiot ignore's the isolation tags.
