The Job:
In early June of this year Deckert called you all together to explain a future job that he'd been made aware of and was putting in a bid. This wasn't unusual at all.. All but Mirriam were in South America working on 2 separate jobs so the meet was face to face in a small café in bohemian Vila Madalena, Sao Paulo. It was here that he laid out the plans. The job seemed small but required much manpower and he was treating it like a loss leader into what might be a rich seam of work. Simply put it was a tag and bag operation tailing the target where ever it went. After the brief introduction the meeting went into other housekeeping issues and ended with the usual profit-sharing and admonition that "... you're all on duty until you are not!".
In mid June somewhere in the CAS, the first job ended with some small success and the first team, #s 1,4,6,7 took leave.
In late June the second job ended and #s 2,3,8,9 hopped a flight back to Atlanta for a weeks R&R. That week was interrupted by a call to meet up in Minneapolis.
Teams 1 and 2 meet up in Roseville at a Holiday Inn (Roseville-St. Paul). It is here that everyone meets Mirriam, a decker girl who seems more street than a stolen truck full of asphalt. Deckert got immediately down to business: instead of 2 groups you're split into 3. Deckert gets Mirriam because she's inexperienced.
The job, which started already, is to find and tail Michael Blumkvist, the son of the Ambassador of UCAS to the United Kingdom, Jeff Blumkvist. Investigate both Michael and his father for links with NaN. It is known that Michael is in North America somewhere. It is not known where. Some days pass and information has been built up. Michael is found. Tailed. Lost. Found and tailed. He uses phones fast and burns them just as fast. He appears on a street and disappears around the corner. #3 and #8 find no trace in astral that he is enlightened or being hidden by anyone else. For the longest time he doesn't seem to hide the fact that he is hiding and he seems to be doing it by rote until suddenly he's nowhere to be found. The team splits into the 3 groups and searches. Atlanta, Minneapolis, Seattle and Denver are all ruled out until word reaches ears that speak with many mouths that he is in London with his father.
It is now about 8pm on the 5th August. Teams 2 and 3 are on duty.

Jessie Outlaw, Yes that is her real name, She came from a family who were stunt drivers, and as a result they legally changed their name to Outlaw. They however never got too big as they would soon have to leave Denver, going to Germany instead, as there was some contacts of her parents there, as her Technomancy powers developed.
Adopting a more normal name of Mary-Ann Cormac, she joins the Saeder-Krupp, bringing her love of fast cars with her However, when she felt they were starting to get too close to her secret of being a technomancer, she quickly quit before more questions could be asked. Sometime later, feeling rather lethergic from the lack of excitement, she soon would begin running in the shadows, a new job where she didn't exactly have a massive corp trying to hound her for questions.

Physical description:
Age: 60, Height 180, Hair: brown hair, military style haircut, many grey hairs. Real name: Rogers Waters.
History:
Deckert is among first dwarfs, his early days were spend on the hide. A fugitive, not even a person his kind were taken to camps. Deckert survived this fate by disguises and lies. Disguising himself as a relatively short human. Rather than a dwarf. He was born in what is now called Tir-Triange and surfaced in Seattle as a teen. His first evidence of existence include robbery and petty theft.
In 2040 he was caught and issued a criminal SIN. His options were 20 years of jail time or 10 years of military service. Roger cause the latter. He started as a military driver and served in multiple encounters. The most remarkable one was a skirmish attack in 2045, where Deckert received a medal of honor for being the sole survivor of a Salish attack on his military convoy. He survived by hiding and remotely piloting a different vehicle at a time. Changing positions and devices, all the time - his technique is now considered standard in military schools and it allowed him to fend off a unit of 20 soldiers. By tricking them into thinking that their initial offensive was not successful. He was badly injured and ceased active duty after that incident.
The rest of his service time he spent as the face of a controversial initiative for better armored soldiers by means of cyber surgery, where he gave interviews, appeared in public and raised cooperate support for the initiative.
In 2050 he retired and almost immediately begun working as a security rigger in the lone star. He traveled with the cooperation, and rumors followed him around. Where ever he left there was a scandal. He was dishonorably fired at 2060 following a big sex scandal. Where he presumably participated in an orgy and abused drugs with powerful and married cooperate wifes. Not much is known about the incident but it is rumored that Deckert has some troubles controlling his urges. Rogers Waters, currently operates under his UCAS SIN awarded to him for his military service.
Financial Status:
Rogers became rich following the complete adaptation of augmentations for every non awakened soldier. His other family members used his money to establish Rogers industries a sub company of Ares that focuses on the research of new combat cyberware. It is rumored that Rogers tested their products on his body.
Despite his wealth, Rogers borrowed over a million UCAS dollars in order to Rogers industries. The company lasted 5 years and then went bankrupt in an hostile merger by Ares. It is rumoured that Ares were responsible for bringing Rogers industries bankrupt but the case never reached court. Rogers industries went bankrupt in 2065, sold to Ares for a fraction of its real value. Rogers managed to reach settlement with the banks and still hold enough Ares stocks to live comfortably - while the banks keep the majority of the revenue from his stock to slowly pay off the debit.
A minor debit to his suppliers rolled to the black market and caused Rogers quite a lot of troubles. He now owes money to the Yakuza. That debit is what started Deckert shadow running carrier in 2065. Under a street name of simply Deckert, and multiple false identities that are difficult to track he focused on high paying gigs like extractions, infiltration and grand theft.
His both military/security background as well as his tough but charismatic personality made him quite successful in the field.
Current Status:
Warning... in 2070, Deckert awakened as a very weak adept, the augmentations and massive essence loss he had prevented his awakening sooner. Over the last years he was reported to overcome a lot of the essence loss limitations and he is today considered an establish adept - it makes him extremely dangerous as he is one of the few rare people with extensive augmentation and remarkable physical abilities.
As of 2075, his age seems give its signs on his health. Deckert's health is not as strong as it used to be. Still he is considered a very dangerous runner, with unique combination of talents. It is romoured that he does not visit the actual field of combat as much as he used to. He outsources some of his runs, and focuses a lot on legwork. His exact health status is unknown.
Deckert was last seen in London, his explicit deeds remain unknown.

Feldwebel (Sergeant) Wolfgang "Tungsten" Ram (not his real name) was bred for war: His parents were both members of the armed forces of the ADL and as long as he can remember he was always somewhere on a military installation. School and even university where sponsored by the military. When the goblinization hit him at age 12 it just gained him recognition among his peers. Military was all he knew for a long time and consequently he applied for a job in the military: He became a MP.
His luck ended when he was implicated in a major weapons theft as an accessory. A suspiciously convenient offer arrived just after he had been arrested by his colleagues: Saeder-Krupp wanted to hire him. They provided layers and a new identity for Tungsten. In return they asked him for a few years of his time and that he would install a plethora of chrome in his body. They, only stopped when it was clear that anymore would kill their soldier. Of course it didn't help that he received primarily augmentations that had belonged to his predecessor or where made by the cheapest contractor.
When his contract was up for renewal he took the chance and vanished into the shadows.
All that chrome has deadened Tungsten's feelings. He hurts himself just to be able to feel something. Combat is one of the few things that make him feel alive anymore and so he heads into it with death defying bravado - or as others call it: A death wish.

Born and raised in Tír na nÓg, Mirriam left what she felt was a confining lifestyle in favor of making her way in London proper... a 'real city'. Gifted with a nearly unstoppable intellect, the small girl adapted to the streets quickly and made a small name for herself as an AR 'Tagger' who called herself Eochair, creating a symbol of a stylized key to 'sign' her work.
She also worked as a hacker, small time, and used her abilities to the benefit of her friends, a group of hackers in the Conclave of Hackers In London Local (CHILL). It was during a job that she came under the notice of an Ares Headhunter who ultimately recruited her to work as Firewatch support. It was a short lived stint, as the strict procedures of Ares corporate living pulled her down and she cut ties after only two years, the probationary timeframe that her contract required.
However, her training and time there had benefited her skills greatly and Mirriam decided to put her skills to use in a more lucrative field, one that would allow her the flexibility she was always looking for. Leo Griswald put her in contact with Deckert who took the fixer at his word that 'the girl was a real wizzer of a cowgirl and the next thing she knew, she was on a plane to Minneapolis to meet the assembling crew...
Mirriam is just under the average height for a gnome with green eyes and hair that is naturally red. She often accentuates it with other bright colors and when she's not working she wears it in a wide and full mohawk style (not spiked), high in the front. Her dress tends toward neo-anarchist/punk style. When working, she dresses in a chameleon suit with a helmet.

Those 4 hits alert you to the fact that there was almost certainly something patched wirelessly into your feed. This is strange as the encryption is sound. Breaking into the feed would require something powerful and a 12 second glimpse doesn't seem... well... Does it seem that you would hack something so innocuous as 'just another encrypted feed' and not do anything; only for a 12 second look? There is no tie between the feed and your internal systems so no way to get to money, to data...
The big giveaway is the loss of transmission power at the receiving end... something that would show up in the logs.

Are we tapped into feeds or are these OUR feeds? I feel like they are our feeds. So then the 'receiving end' is... us. Our monitoring stations?

So - without having discussed it (mainly because we started in the middle) I am allowing roleplaying to extend what has been set up.
Deckert and Jeff (#1 and #9) were discussing feeds. If such things exist, and judging the quality of the team, these are feeds from the cars that the team own.
Yes - the receiving end is the monitors at base. So describing the situation using current and voltage... the feed is wireless using encryption. This feed seems to have been hacked and the hack seems to have interfered with the data as it was transferred from the vehicles to base.
As for other feeds: There is no way to access the Embassy cameras or the cameras at Gore Hotel. Brooks has no cameras. There is a shield in place at Brooks so that, though there are comms devices on peoples persons, getting access to a particular one and using it for any reason seems to have a low probability for success.
NB: seriously peeps, I am just getting back into GMing, so if something is unclear or if I'm not making sense please ask. In this instance I know that signals on wireless internet are not like cable patches, where more cables does reduce the signal, but the deckers need to know that there was something going on but it is not happening now.

To say the truth I have no idea what's going on. I do not know how to move forward. We seem to need a little more structure. I think that Deckert should be an npc as we are starting mid run and I don't understand at all who we are tracking and why... there is this ambassador what about him... he seems as boring as... well he has his routine okay... now what? what are these SUV's and why are they so important? what do we use them for? they don't seem to be needed for surveillance, definitely draw too much attention. Why not something more modest, a GMC bulldog or something.
Basically after reading few times the introduction I only understand that the weather is bad and the run is boring we are tracking someone, but what are we trying to achieve ? this is not written there.
I feel that it is too much too fast. You should play the team leader and gradually tell the story, as you use his influence and rank to unravel the plot. (just what I think anyhow).

Michael is found. Tailed. Lost. Found and tailed. He uses phones fast and burns them just as fast. He appears on a street and disappears around the corner. #3 and #8 find no trace in astral that he is enlightened or being hidden by anyone else. For the longest time he doesn't seem to hide the fact that he is hiding and he seems to be doing it by rote until suddenly he's nowhere to be found. The team splits into the 3 groups and searches. Atlanta, Minneapolis, Seattle and Denver are all ruled out until word reaches ears that speak with many mouths that he is in London with his father.
It is now about 8pm on the 5th August. Teams 2 and 3 are on duty.

You ever hear stories about how it used to be before Crash 2.0? Like when AIs would be able to spoof your systems, sleazing their way into crap they had no right to? Its a bit like those stories. But there are no AIs. And why would an AI be tripping into your feeds... and hell if they wanted to.. why for 15 seconds? or 5 seconds even?

A lot of this will probably help Gilga's sort of general desire to know 'what's going on'. Of course, some of the answers to these questions will be, "You haven't been able to find that out."
1. Who is our Mr. Johnson? I am sure he didn't say, "I'm Ted Winters of Saeder Krupp" or whatever, but any respectable team would have tried to figure out exactly who they were working for and what their angle is.
2. Who is Michael Blumkvist? As in, how old is he. Is he traveling around doing professional stuff or is he being a spoiled diplomats brat and partying everywhere he goes? Does he have criminal ties? Government ties? Corporate ties? How is his relationship with his father? Does he have enemies? Allies?
3. Who is Jeff Blumkvist? How has his ambassadorial appointment been? Is he respected by his peers in government? Is he respected by his peers on the UK side? Does he have criminal ties? Government ties? Corporate ties? Does he have enemies? Allies?
4. Have we found any links between these two and the NAN? Why would it be important to know that an ambassador to the UK has links with the NAN?
5. You say that Michael has been disappearing as if by 'rote'. What does that mean? That he just fades away and reappears elsewhere and it's like he's just doing naturally and 'just in case' but not because he's been tipped off or alerted in any way (that we can tell)? The way that the has been disappearing has been 'noteworthy'? Like, it sees really strange and unlike anything we've seen before? Does his disappearing act appear to be something that's beyond his actual ability to do (i.e. do we suspect that someone is helping)?

Michael is a consummate politician's son. He lives a playboy lifestyle and is, quite simply a bum with connections. Dig a little deeper you find a student of immaculate learning potential who went to Yale and Oxford. While he was in UCAS he was all over the place and was meeting people quickly and quietly. When he's somewhere publicly he has invites to go to nightclubs and dinners etc... Lately you've seen none of that and he has disappeared from the scenes. You heard word of him in NaN territory but no amount of trace on separate tribes ever found a connection to MB. Enemies? He's a total nonentity; a rich man's failure to launch. He is about 30.
He doesn't have multiple personalities - just 2 - a public and a secret. (Green Arrow like)

JB is one of the foremost Ambassadors that represents UCAS. He has years of experience and has some serious political aspirations. He is pretty liberal with regard the meta-human question and stands for increased freedoms for corporate entities. There is a small connection to Ares and to Aztechnology for corporate donations for political office but those sit in an account untouched along with other donations from other, smaller, corporations.
4. Have we found any links between these two and the NAN? Why would it be important to know that an ambassador to the UK has links with the NAN?
Well. No link found.
UCAS and NaN are not deadly enemies... But really.. A UCAS ambassador in the UK with ties to NaN... Weird.

Initially you didn't expect him to have counter-surveillance skills. When you caught up to him you realise that he does it habitually when he is not being a socialite... Most of you shadowrunners will do similar things to avoid a tail, most likely you're better than Michael... But you didn't expect it from him.
Of course, the last time he just never turned up again.

I posted the location of the meets with Elaine and Knight Errant on the map. Elaine is close but KE is about 20 minutes away.
Traffic is starting to build: most of the late night drinkers are calling for cabs but you do see a few other cars buzzing around. Late night busses and the Tube (London Underground Railway) cater to most people.
Time is now 23.55.
The Ambassador is back at the hotel. Cars #2 and #3 with occupants are there.
#1 is at Elaine's. #4 is still talking with Elaine while #1 waits with the boys and girls in an otherwise empty salon.
#9 is most of the way to meet with his contact. Will get there in about 5 minutes.

Mirriam is running Virtual Machine, Encryption, Signal Scrub, Sneak, and is swapping between Stealth and Exploit, the latter just before she tries to place a MARK.
Hitching along for a quick view through Jeff's Goggles, she locates the car that the target is in, then tries to find the Icon of the Vehicle of the device that the Vehicle is slaved to. Assuming that it's running hidden, she attempts a few Matrix Perception Actions over the course of 3 seconds:

If I have any extra net hits, I want to know the device rating of the Vehicle or the device I find that it is slaved to, and if it's a commlink, cyberdeck, or RCC.
Then, I want to Sleaze a Mark onto the device, UNLESS, it has a device rating 6 or higher, then she'll rethink it.
But before she does that, she'll jump onto whatever Grid it is on, which starts her GOD score. I'll assume success, because she has like, 18 dice against probably something like 6 or 8 dice, but you'll want to roll so you know what her GOD score is at.
Then, she attempts to sleaze a mark onto the device:

Jayde, You are in an area run by the London Central demiGOD. They are known to be.... well, draconian is as good a word as any, though there are no Dragons in the GOD. This won't affect yours rolls though it will determine the results that are put into effect should you fail to stay hidden. Parliament and all offices of the Government are in this local Grid.
The device that is slaved to this vehicle is not the vehicle. It seems to be that the car is nearly completely manual. The device that you detect is a personal device in standby mode. The rating is 5. It is a secure commlink.
The trace is successful and you're experienced enough to know that the second mark would be slightly easier. You are almost certain that the target does know about the hack.

Michael's car is running nothing - it is an old, stylish car from the old days. It has no presence and even the wireless access point for the engine management system has been disengaged. You cannot see them but at least 2 of you know that there are added wires in this beauty.
The commlink is a standard secure link and it is doing absolutely nothing (apart from telling Mirriam the 411)
The route that the car is taking is a direct route to Lambeth bridge. The current time is 00.20 and the latest mark on the map is labelled: "Michael's car @ 00.20"

I've made a few assumptions on people's willingness to speed. Michael is doing the exact speed limit (normal Brits will do 10% over the speed limit). He is rushing no amber lights (that's yellow for our Americans cousins). If you want to catch him then you needed to bend the rules a bit.
Also - #9 - you've not said anything about losing that tail so they're sort of still with you. A bit further back than they'd like but ...

At this point #4 is only aware that she is following #1 and heading to #9 to give support if something goes wrong. She has no incentive at this time to do other than obey the speed laws. It would be somewhat hard to explain the weapons she is carrying if some Bobby were to nick her for plus five.

You're gaining on him anyway if you bust through amber lights and generally stick to the 'speed of the road' rather than the speed limit.

London Bobbies are not unlike policemen in other major cities. They will not really harass people going with the flow of traffic. I should be safe as long as I am aware of what is going on around me.

Moving the clock forward.
The car arrives at and turns onto Lambeth bridge, then crosses and follows the road to Lambeth. This is all relatively straight road and is, again quite busy at this time. Bikes in the UK are allowed to pass cars if there is room so, if you're on a bike, you'll have to say whether or not you'll pass Car 1 to catch up with #9 or if you'll hang back.

Deckert is also a bit foggy but for now we tail him. There are recon drones, the comlink is hacked and we try to be professional about it, keep to sub vocal and avoid eye contact or anything similar.

Deckert knows. He's told you that this is a tail and report back operation. Actions after reporting back seem to depend on what has been reported. You guys had him for a a few days but this is the first time in 2 weeks so....

Car 1 contains 3 armed people. Dressed in "Standard Undercover Disguise #4" (you probably have the brochure). The two in the front are men, the woman in the bvack seat is sat in the middle leaning forward. She seems to be directing things. She is animated. They are armed
#9: You didn't see a bunch of guns and don't recognise the driver, but one of the guys might have been on a Trid "So you want to Brawl: an exposé of the Urban Brawl leagues".
#1: You recognise one of the guys in the front of the car. You have no idea from where. It doesn't matter - anyone who you'd notice in this way is unlikely to be Kilo Echo, or even working for Kilo Echo. These are mercs.
#4: You love the SMG that the woman in the back is stroking as you drive by. She sort of looks at you, does a double take and then holds her thumb and finger like an old fashioned phone and smiles mockingly.

Meanwhile, noting that the vehicle was not slaved to anything, it should be easy pickings for a Data Spike. she hasn't noticed any spiders, but with Outlaw Virtual Local, she's not too concerned about starting a VR Fight. She quickly swaps out Sneak with Hammer and blasts several lines of corrupt code, blossoming from her avatar like red fire.

Target Defends with Intuition + Firewall or, in the case of a Vehicle not slaved nor Rigger Controlled, it defends with it's Device Rating + Firewall (Which is also the Device Rating). This basically equates to Pilot Rating x2. (The hits on this test begin my God Score)
I am going to do 11+Net Hits Matrix Damage, which will be soaked by the same roll used to defend (caveat that it's Willpower instead of Intuition, but a Device just defaults to its Device Rating (for a vehicle Pilot Rating)).
The Vehicle will have 8+ DeviceRating/2 condition Boxes. If they get filled in, the vehicle is disabled.
If I failed, let me know by how many net hits, that will be converted to damage against myself instead.

Deckert will not obviously be involved in the combat, he'll dive toward Michael and try to convince him to get on bike with him and escape before they are all dead. (He is mentally triggering remote control gunnery fire).
I am not sure how mechanically you do this kind of thing.
