Hello, I have a question - does the Overclocker quality allow the user to increase one of the Matrix Attributes on, lets say, commlink or RCC? The description says "The character may add 1 point of Rating to one of his cyberdeck’s ASDF attributes." so I'd assume this is not possible, but... Maybe it is?
Thanks in advance!

related question, would the overclocker ability apply to a commlink/RCC that has dongles or modifications done on it? asking specifically because the commlinks and RCCs have firewall already before modifications and RCCs have data processing....
-
I'd allow it to apply to any device, but as written it applies to cyberdecks only. Then again, the rules are really ambiguous on this point.
-
My thought, I'd let it apply most definitely to commlinks, since when you think about it, decks are just commlinks with a lot more 'under the hood' as it were. And most likely on RCCs, though I'm not as up on their rules as I am with decks. Other devices I would say no to, as any programing they have is probably too rudimentary or restricted for overclocking to work.
-
As RAW I would say no, since it specifically names cyberdecks as the object for tinkering. Yet as others have mentioned house ruling it to cover Commlinks and RCCs too is always a possibility
-
Yeah I'm pretty sure it's intended for only cyberdecks. It says them by name and mentions an action you can only take with cyberdecks.
-
You should ask your GM first if it can apply to anything else but cyberdecks.

Thanks for answers.
I am the GM, just wanted to check what is the other people point of view.
I guess I will limit it to cyberdecks only to stay mission legal.

until Bull / Ray comes out with the official missions view on the subject :D

I'd stick with RAW on this one myself, keeps it clean and easy
