The only way to create armor by the rules (afaIk) is to use magic.

It must be coming in an upcoming book then. Wish I could remember which one. Iirc it was not a main focus of the book but a nice addition tacked on.

I don't think that's the one. It should be in one of the less prominent books. I spent some time scouring the net but couldn't figure it out. I made a lot of custom armor for my own games so I was very intrigued when I found out there were rules for it.

Probably only for making armor for the vehicles.

Which is fine for the trolls to wear in a pinch, but the poor daisy eaters will be crushed under all that. ;)

That's no Moon Motor Car rolling up to the gate, that's a Troll wearing Vehicle Armor!

I actually did not think at all about personal armor design.

Being able to improve the armor on drones would give me immense joy. (Combat drones with 4 armor, really?)

Certainly. I really need to find out fast because I am itching for a new Shadowrun book. I'm thinking it hasn't been released yet though or more people would know what I was referring to. But maybe it is already on the market. I'll let you know if I find out the name.

Ok, I have to ask: How would you come to read books that have not yet been published?

I read a thread or advertisement that detailed some of the things that were going to be in the book. Whether or not that book has been published yet, I am not sure (probably hasn't been though).

Extremely heavily armored? It's got 14 armor. I was referring to the Dustoff drone from B&B which says it's heavily armored, but then has 5 armor and 4 body, which is just ... yeah ... no.

To be fair, the Dustoff has a heavily armored passenger cocoon - which helps you as much as a glass hammer when you are shot down while flying.

so,
... yeah ... no.

If I can take it down with a hold-out pistol and one net hit, then it's not heavily armored. As it is, a holdout pistol is all you need to take down every drone except the Steel Lynx and the FB-Bumblebee.

Now, granted, your probably shouldn't be in hold-out pistol range with any drone, but even at range, almost all drones will explode in a shower of twisted metal from a single hit by most combat-grade arms. The only exceptions are the Steel Lynx and the FB-Bumblebee and they'll be downed super quickly.
