Gruff, old and sharp as a tack. Frank's a warhorse of the old guard. He walks into the room and he'll still garner attention though. He's just got that air of authority about him. He's defintely old school. His dress is an impecible suit, shined shoes and a trench coat. He's got the hard jawline and scars of a man that will not put up with any drek from the young ones that think they know it all.

Franks been on the other side of the blue line long enough that many of the old guard will still call him Detective. Being LoneStar for close to 30 years means the criminal element may remember him. He makes no effort to hide his past.

Short Vignettes

Frank sat at the bar, the glass of whiskey he'd been nursing all night still sat half-empty between his hands resting on the pinkslip he'd just gotten that afternoon. 29 years of service to LoneStar.

His old partner sat on the stool next to him. Old partner, yeah that was the joke. His partner of all of two years. The kid was just a damn rookie detective. And the boy still had his shield. Frank had to chuckle to himself at the irony. He'd trained his own damn replacement.

"You know kid, you may not realize it but this is the last lesson you're gonna get from me." Frank chuckled to himslef again, "Don't plan on the company taking care of you. Put aside a nest egg that isn't part of some damn pension they can keep when you haven't served your full time. And once you have the money, retire to someplace warm with plenty of pretty girls. Not some wet shithole like Seattle."

Frank then saluted the kid with his glass. Turned to the wall of photos that held two more partners he'd outlived, gave them a salute and finished the glass in their memory.

His young partner started to stand up when Frank did, but Frank just waved him back down as he walked out.

"What are you gonna to now Frank?" The kid asked.

Frank grunted as he headed out the door, "Fade away into the shadows I guess..."

----------------------------------------------------------

The spray pattern from the blood was what had caught Frank's eye at first. It didn't match with the witness accounts he had read in the police report he'd managed to get his hands on. He continued to look around the room. More and more descrepancies kept popping up the more time that Frank spent looking. Something wasn't setting right with him. This was suppose to have been a simple home invasion. The witnesses; a sister and her boyfriend that had been able to slip out the back door for help.

But the patterns in the blood and other key pieces of info left around suggested that this was more than just a simple home invasion gone wrong. There had been a gunfight in that room. And the invaders were not some group of street scum. They were real pros that were fast and efficient. And dad definitely knew what he was doing with the gun. He had managed to fire of 4 shots. 2 hit one of the assailants square on. The other two recovered from the wall. By the report, they had blood on them. For the assailants to walk away, they had to be wearing body armor.

Frank continued his way through the house reading the evidence as he went. He stopped when he entered the hallway. One picture in particular drawing his attention above the others. It was a unit picture. Memories came back to Frank when he saw the younger version of himself standing next to the father that had tried to protect his own family in this very house.

Frank's hand instinctively went to his back and began to trace the old scars that had been there for 20 years. 3 bullet holes lined up in an almost perfect triangle. If it hadn't been for his partner, Frank would never have made it to the ripe old age he was today. And now here he was staring at the picture of them together. That picture had been taken just a few days before Frank had been shot. Now it was a few days after his partner of 10 years had been killed.

Standing somewhat shy of a metre tall, Listen could almost be mistaken for a child, but for the little details;- an air of unnatural stillness, fritzed fibre optic hair extensions, and his knowingly wry smile chief among them.
While he favours perennially stylish suits with personal touches like custom dye jobs or badge pins, on a run he is just as quick to choose more pragmatic clothing. Optimistic and cheerful-sounding when using Tir accented English, he seems to have picked up some more cautious habits running the shadows, only becoming truly irreverent when he doesn't have time to say the third thought that comes into his head.

Nothing much stands out about Berg. He's around average height and weight, with blue eyes and brown hair. Generally dressed in jeans, a top with an armoured jacket over it and carrying a messenger bag he looks like most inhabitants of the Seattle Sprawl.

When he speaks it's obvious that he's not from the UCAS as he has a distinct British accent. For those who know these sort of things it places him from the south of England, probably in the central London Sprawl north of the River Thames.

A human, male in his thirties. Black eyes and a black mohawk. His longcoat has a bright logo in the chest: The Vandals, a combat biking team. Relatively new to the Seattle scene, been there since a year.
"Haywire? Might be crazier than my last girlfriend (and that's enough crazy) but may I be damned if he isn't good at his job.  That KE fraggers ate the dust!"

Slugger is a rather bland looking troll.  In his late teens or early twenties.  He's slightly shorter than a normal troll, but well built and extremely graceful.  He has a reputation of being a second story troll and tends to knock anyone out that is unfortunate enough to catch him in the act.

Two Sheds is slightly less than average-sized for an Ork, in terms of both height and muscle mass. His skin is dark from long exposure to the sun (and AmerIndian heritage). His hair is black and he wears it long. His clothes are threadbare and dusty. Sometimes he will indulge in facepaint for a run, if Dog thinks it's a good idea.

Herr Brackhaus has convinced me that the vehicle mod rules don't really work well with drones.
Therefore, if you are going to mod your drone, use the Drone Mod rules instead.
If you are not going to mod your drone, this has no effect on you, obviously.

Jessica London seems to be trapped in an old Detective Noir. Wearing a custom made Black Fedora and a black trenchcoat over a blouse backed by an armor vest and slacks. She has tanned brown skin revealing an an attractive face. If someone marked by the white pupiled cybereyes. She has long brown hair and would be quite the beauty if not for her somewhat dull demeanor. Shes very calm. She has a basic american accent flushed with hints of the greek but only slightly. Shes also smart as a tack and three times as sharp. Shes Lone Star trained and fresh out of a job thanks to a screw up that revealed her as a Bounty Detective. A less then often spoken of profession in some Lone Star hires where specialized... they might as well be corp owned bounty hunters, detectives who caught the Hannibal Lectors in front of the public eye before anyone else *loud cough* shadowrunners *loud cough* could collect their bounties. Fighting serial killers and pedophiles(basic murderers werent her department.)taught her 3 things. One. To properly castrate someone (punishment fit the crime and all that. Alive doesnt mean in one piece.)you need restriants. Two. You need to be able to find that person first. Shes an expert at criminal psychology and forensics(ask her about it. Its an art form to her.), knows how to track in the urban waste, honed her perception, and bought some gear specialized for it. And 3. It pays to have a team. So shes looking for some new people to help her with the transition to running the shadows like her little brother the adept. As to why she was fired... well... actually she has had sorta a rough life so lets keep it minimal with the backstory for now. Ok?

1)Switched it
2)Gilga hasn't gotten back to me yet- so it still might be one thread.

a ~face Infiltrator, with a dash of decking.

Lora did everything right, her blue collar parents have sent her into the best education money can buy. She was interested both in computer science and in magic. While not exceptionally skilled in each of them Lora posses a unique set of abilities, a sharp mind and natural charm that she wished to get a head with in the world.  She did not intend to descend into the shadows but she used her magical abilities to score a minority scholarship and her ruse was discovered. She suddenly had to pay it all at once and there was no money. In her desperation she went to the Mafia but being not particularly skilled in magic or computers her pay options in the free market were limited.

You can take any of the contacts in the list the same way you take any other contact. 1 karma per point of connection and one karma per point of loyalty.

I told him A but he's Haywire's friend so I PM'd him to switch to B and erase the comment in A....he probably hasn't read the PM yet. He might very well decide to stay in Thread A however, in which case Haywire would modify his post rather than Noll erase his.

And since I'm running the same mission simultaneously for both groups you might not want to read the other thread as you might get spoilers and some people don't separate what they know from what their character knows very well.

The Noll, or Noll  (Elf M.Adept - Shaman tradition )

Born in Seattle's slums, the tall and beautiful elf had a lucky life compared to most of the people in the area. Caring parents and an overjoy for life spirit made him grow up into a dreamer. He had the skill to talk with the spirits from his teens, his way of talking and interacting with the few friends he had at that time made him look like a calfree poser from old times, although his love for life and human relationships was genuine.

Noll believed he could make a change to this world, that doing something good would eventually bring more good. When he started to fully develope his awakaned powers, he dedicated his life to magically heal and support everyone that needed it, for free. The way he sustained himself was through free donations and occasional jobs. It was during this time that he meet the love of his life, a beautiful human woman by the name of Rebecca that shared with him the same idea of "help the world, change the world".

They shared a beautiful life, they had nothing, but they had everything. They arranged their house in a "state of the art" roulottes from the '20s. It was soon after that they had their first child: Angie. Everything was perfect, their simple life was a dream.

Or at least they thought so, but life in the 6th world can be unpredictable. And their happy life ended the day a group of humanis decided to punish them for being a filty human + metahuman couple. Rebecca was killed in an attempt to protect Angie, eventually a local gang whose leader was recently healed by them stormed in to scatter the humanis, but it was too late for Rebecca.

Noll's view of life changed drastically, his joyful, helping everyone, making a better world way of thinking ended in one night. He retired from the voluntering and replaced his woman with a bad alcol habit. He also had to take care of Angie, being still 8, and the few newyen he saved until then were easily depleted.

He understood that one can't protect his loved ones being an hippiehead, he would need enough money to guarantee a better life for his daughter. His awakened powers would be better employed to make some money, and a friend of his, a guy that he healed some months prior, thought Noll could become a shadowrunner...

This is how it all started.

If a character says something to a character that belongs in the IC thread.

A player is saying something to a player that belongs in the OOC thread.

Quoting the immediate post is really unnecessary. If Mark Anthony is responding to a comment by Soylent Green from the immediate post, come up with something IC: Mark thought about Soylent's comment for a sec and responded, "You know, I was never big on Ghoul cuisine."

My charachter will have his deck running silent (A2 S5 D3 F4), with Signal scrub, Agent and Virtual Machine. The Agent will do a Matrix Perception check every other turn on the deck and the RCC, looking for unauthorized marks. The RCC (A0 S0 D5 F6) will load fly-spy autosofts (Stealth, Evasion, Manouvering, Electronic Warfare) and have a Noise Reduction of 1. Also the RCC and drones will run silent.

Also, for rolling is there a handy thing you guys use, or do you basically make the spoiler, link, and then write the roll and successes in bold?

Daryl #1 has Larry's pigmentation, tusks
Daryl #2 has hair and eye pigmentation as well as the hair waviness of Larry
Both Daryls are about avg height for a troll while Larry is a good 1/2 or 3/4 meter taller
Moe doesn't look like Larry at all and is probably a meter shorter than him but so much wider they might just weigh the same.

Post by: gradivus on <01-08-16/1054:58>
The main problem I have w/drones is that they're functional or completely destroyed and that combat drones are just too easy to take out...

So I'm thinking about the following:
Armor is Hardened Armor
Basic CM is 6+1/2Body
Overflow is 1/2Body
Remember on vehicles-drones included-zero is treated as .5 and half .5 rounded up is 1 so every vehicle will have at least Condition Monitor 7 and 1 Overflow

So a Bulldog (Bod 16)would have CM14 OF 8 so if it has just one box of overfow left it would actually cost more to repair than buy new... 21*5% = 105%... assuming the damage isn't electrical, in which case there's matrix damage to fix too.

Micro and mini-drones are still probably one-shot destroyed by most firearms but a Base 6 damage weapon with only one net hit will only disable them, not destroy.
Title: Re: Seattle 2072 OOC
Post by: gilga on <01-08-16/1100:08>
how does Hardened Armor works?
Title: Re: Seattle 2072 OOC
Post by: odd on <01-08-16/1101:23>
If the damage is less than the Hardened Armor, it takes no damage.  If it's equal or greater, you get half the hardened armor as auto hits (and still get to roll them to resist).

I miss anything?

I like the rules btw.
Title: Re: Seattle 2072 OOC
Post by: gradivus on <01-08-16/1129:53>
Half the hardened armor minus the AP modifier... so a sniper rifle with ammo that has a modified AP-5 that does 13 Dmg to Bulldog:

Bulldog Armor is normally 12 armor modified to 7
So the 13 Damage is greater and is going to do dmg
The bulldog rolls 16(BOD)+7(Modified Armor) [avg 7.5 hits] plus gets 4 hits so 1 or 2 points of damage get thru.

A Ford Americar however rolls 11(BOD) + 1(modified Armor)[avg 4hits] plus 1 hit so takes 9 damage. It only has a CM 12, so the sniper is taking it out with another hit- if it's net 4-8 Dmg it'll be disabled, but on net 9+ it'll be found on road dead.

character in Discworld novel:

Madame les Deux-Epées is the fencing teacher and mistress-at-arms at the Assassins' Guild school.

Her name translates into English as "Madame Two-Swords", which aurally is not a million miles away from "Madame Tussauds", proprietor of a famous waxworks museum. Is this a built-in coincidence, which may be used to set up a joke in a forthcoming book? This could be a Quirmish nickname in the same style of Python's Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson and John "Two Jags" Prescott.

alas, Pratchett works if they are to continue must be penned by another author

I'd like to Slave my drones at the deck, configured A2 S5 D3 F5, running Agent, Virtual Machine and Encryption, and have them runnung silent. I'd base my perdona on my deck and be in AR. I am at the library right now so I can send this message.

A guy that keeps hacking my roommate decide it would be funny to change all the setting on the AT&T modem as well as the passwords so I'm now locked out of internet access. The guy is a mental case, he's been cyberstalking her for years and the police in Alabama don't want to do anything because he's not in this state and the other state don't want to do anything cause we are not residents of that state, and the Federal gov't says it's not thier jurisdiction even though they agree he is breaking multiple federal laws. Fucking government- what have I paid taxes for all these decades.

Anyhoo, AT&T is refusing to send a tech to change the modem but insists on mailing out a new modem. For some strange reason I've noticed that if I mail from my Mobile address to another Mobile address it takes longer to arrive then when I mail something to my friends in NJ. So instead of the 2-3 days it should take I don't foresee having the new box for 4-6 days. So I'll be be putting this on hold until probably  Monday.
