So I want to make my first face but don't know exactly if it'd be better go ware or adept or even mage I definitely want to have a high social limit and be fairly decent with a pistol when need arises.I would also like to have a decent edge if needed too if manageable like I thought about being an infiltrator face more like a spy to get was going to take jack of all trades quality to help with skill spread not sure if its needed. Ive always been a combat guy and wanted broaden my horizon any help or build advice would be awesome thanks everyone

Magic can get higher charisma pools, but you spend a lot of build resources on it.
Mundane will have a broader range of abilities
-
Is there way I can cut the essence cost if i go ware?I know I can't have the best of both I just trying to not to have to many disadvantages I want to a good face with a gun everything else is secondary.

Samurai lite mundane face build:

If you skip up to the General Forum and go back a few pages to the Archtype contest thread there are multiple Elf Face builds in there.
Searching the Character Creation Forum for "Social Adept" will give you lots of hits to get you started.
If you post a build, or at least the start of a build, you'll get much more specific feedback.

First, what build method are you using???
There is biocompability quality that reduces the essence cost by 10% and transhuman prototype that basically gives you a free essence point
-
I was thinking either sum to ten or karma gen probably karma then definitely elf

First of all, I have to state that I don't mean any offence to anybody.
Second, come on, it's revolverocelot420. It is kinda his style to post his problem and ask people around to solve it. I'm not blaming, I just feel we should deal with it and roll with it. He's trying different concepts every time and shadowrun really is not the easiest system to learn. When I started to play I was overwhelmed by all those options and that was before any 5e splatbooks came out. There are people who don't constantly build characters just to test out a new idea.
Now, ocelot, how powerful is your group? How powerful do you want to be on a social side and on a combat side? Give more details please.

Answer a broad question, get more specific questions. Teach a poster to search, start posts with specific questions and skip the warm up, or possibly find the answers already posted. Just sayin. This forum's search function is pretty good.

Wired face is very easy. Essence loss is really not worth mentioning as an impact to Social Limit, it causes no issues at all given the gear/ware a wired face will be taking.
-
If you want to have the highest social pools then pornomancer (or the more politically correct Social Adept). But most tables don't need social pools that high.
Mages also can get high social pools
MysAds get the best of both world and suffer the most in terms of resources.
Mundanes get a big break on resource management- E equals magic so you don't have to sacrifice meta/nuyen/attributes/skills.
I would caution you to stick to one or two things and build around it... magic, face, infiltrator, combat and...well you get the idea, leads to a mess. Pick two things to start and make sure they're done well and maybe some of the others happen to fit in.
-
Here's an awakened build for contrast. Not a complete hybrid - more a face with some semi-decent combat ability, with a high Edge to assist him.

E magic
Bod-3 agi-4 rea-4 str-3 wil-5 log-4 int4 cha6 edg-5
Bilingual-5k
First impression-11k
Allergy moderate silver-10k
Skills
Con-6
Impersonation-5
Perception-4
Etiquette-4
Negotiation-5
Stealth group-5

Knowledge will be languages and building layouts security systems fashion national politics then I'm not sure about gear wise other than tailored pheromones maybe initiative booster if possible then a couple fake sins and clothes and weapons was thinking of carrying a couple holdouts and a taser wanted to add blades to carry a knife or use unarmed if I can fit in possibly so how's the damage is he horrible I'm sure I can use some critiques on him his back story is when he was a kid his parents were chippers sent him out to make money anyway he could from using sleight of hand tricks to plane out pickpocketing when he was 13 he meet Boris a vory enforcer when trying to jack him for his colt govt well let's just say Boris wasn't pleased and wanted to geek him but instead his skills might be use. So he asked the young man do you want to make some real money kid if you do come with me. Max finally had a chance to get away from his chip head parents and that's what he did never looked back.it's been 15 years since and Max well should I say chatterbox(he tends to talk himself into trouble as fast as he gets out it) always trying to find the best info in everything chatter lives for gossip and drama and that what led him to this team a friend of a friend said he knew a guy who knew a guy.... Well lets just say the guy set him of with a team of booze hounds who live off killing he swears him And crackjob(our decker)are the only sane ones shaver(our rigger) wasn't is bad other than his tendancey to talk mechanical based words in places they didn't belong and drank enough booze to overflow a bulldogs gas tank but shadow and yellow jacket just had their way of doing things shadow saved him from more bullets he could count so he was ok after all they were his disfuntioncal little family and he was ok with that so what I got any other help would be awesome thanks guys and sorry Zelda I rely on you guys in the forum a little to much

How about:
Con|Fastalk-6|+2
Impersonation-5
Perception-6
Sneaking|Urban-5|+2
Influence SG-5
Pistols|Semiautomatics-5|+2 (I kept this pistol because you had as Pistol)
Locksmith-4 (I kept this cause you had it)
Be like every other shmoe and let the auto pilot get you to where you are going.
-
So I'll drop pilot and locksmith maybe too should just add the point to my other skills or pick up like batons or shock glove?

I honestly cannot like this post enough to do it credit.
You win the internet for today , sir ZeldaBravo.
SR5 core is quite complex , about four tmes as much as d&d core 2nd edition, at least from what i have played of d&d2nd.
Creating a character is quite hard , especially if you want to do an effective one ,what with all them opposed dice tests ,
and to actually start with a non mechanically inspired idea and then create an effective char , i dont know how you guys keep doing it.
It helps out a lot to have loads of archetypes to choose from on these forums , however both threads ,
wakshaanis and All4BigGuns's have been going the way of the dodo, the latter more due to being replaced with the former,
the former more due to needing an updated first post , and both where hobbes and you have contributed lot .

While I agree with you concerning ZB's great post. I don't agree with you at all on 2nd Ed. I have played 2nd Ed for a long time, speed factor, RoF, Thac0 Skills and Powers, and All the rest. Trust me, 5th is not that nearly that bad. Until you do fireball volume math in your head you really haven't considered all that can go wrong.
-
I have a question it might silly but has anyone made a face gunslinger that uses holdout pistols or light pistols?

FICHETTI EXECUTIVE ACTION
ACC 6 DV 7P AP— MODE SA/BF RC— AMMO 18(c) AVAIL 10R COST 300¥
Add internal smartlink or a laser sight, gasvent 3, personalized grip.
You can aim and burst fire, multiattack while burst firing or long burst at one target.
Stick-nShock if you want to be leagl, AP if you don't...and there's ammo rules in Hard Target.
Make a social Adept w/authoratative tone[3], improved ability{pistols)[3],Imp Reflexes[1], Combat Sense[1]. With Pistols|Semiautomatics 6|+2. You're looking at 11 dice before AGI and Smartlink/Lasersight. Yo could even give up 1 MR to do the cyberarm cheese. I wouldn't. Of course there's the ever popular transhuman and muscle toner[3].
An Elf unaugmented could have 7AGI, 7 CHA or 6AGI, 8CHA... that's 15 or 16 DP with the light pistol...5hits on average. Chances of getting the 9 hits that equals your limit, not likely... but 6-7 will happen often enough and hey maybe you're some special kind of lucky and roll 8 or 9.

Gradivus: how is Edge so high?
-
Indoor or outdoor fireballs?
Indoor, of course. Outdoor is easy, though there is always the catching the forest on fire issue.
-
Gradivus: how is Edge so high?
D is Human (3) I think. So 2+3.

Then Magic is too high at 6... just nitpicking... sorry!

Then Magic is too high at 6... just nitpicking... sorry!
Magic B straight adept is magic 6, and the bioware is under P-transhuman, so it looks right to me, I haven't done the full math break down to be sure that the cost line up. But at first glance it checks out. Bilateral Coordination Co-processor is bioware, despite it's name, I had to look that up b/c I was sure it was cyber.
Nothing apologize for though, it's easy to make mistakes and it good to have folks double check. I know I make many errors during character creation, its why we have this forum.

Whoops - Not thinking Adept! Thanks!
