Here is something that haunts my dreams... I was (to say the least) shocked when i saw
what my teams troll "Aegis" could do with a person in unarmed combat...
He has a ridiculously high physical limit... (13 at the moment).
Now take 6+2 dice for his skill and 6 dice for his agility.
He wants to Hulk-Smash unfortunate Generic Security Guy who didn't see him coming.
(We also have a mage on the team who can make things invisible)
So worst case, the guard gets no defense (If he can't detect him somehow).
Troll rolls 14D6 and scores... Hm we'll say 8 hits.
That brings his unarmed damage STR(12)+1P up to 21.
So even with a armor jacket (armor 12)... That would go through...
I'll go ahead and say the employer of our guard didn't pay for
augmentations... (He is not in the fraggin Firewatch).
So even with a body of 6... And even if he would score 6 hits,
that would leave 15 damage...
(He has bone lacing btw...)
Seriously... Why does he even need his stupid machine gun!?

Well, he can't punch from 100 meters away. Also, melee is a complex action, shooting can be a simple. The other thing is that he's likely to get < 5 hits without edge, but folks that are good with a skill are good with that skill. Do the same test with an elf with max agility and a good sniper rifle. I'd bet they do more damage from 1 kilometer away.

Similar way to how melee human sword adept does consistently assault rifle damage with his weapon foci katana before adding in hits. Str+3+1(for crit strike blades) = 10 (6+3+1) dv with AP -3. If I use my claymore (flavored as a nadochi) its 12 dv AP -5 pre hits. Combining that with high initiative, max racial agility, and more than one occasion surprise, things die.
As for why range weapons, Mr melee troll, meet FN-HAR loaded with ADPS and long full auto bursts, SnS, or EBR using bullseye double tap 3 blocks away. Not everything can be solve with melee, even for melee adepts.

You know that decades old question: “What do mundanes do about strong marauding spirits?” “Apply troll” is actually a reasonable answer … (OK, sure, the spirit may be able to keep range on the troll, but the shaman in my game was dismayed to find out that his spirits were not as immune to mundanes as he thought, when one tangled with a couple of troll brawlers)
-
I'm now imagining a gaggle of trolls chasing a spirit down the street, shouting about how the fight wasn't over yet!
-
Are you sure the collective noun for trolls is a gaggle?
I always thought they form a murder... ::)
-
A murder? Nah, that's birds. A herd, maybe? That's the term for a group of elephants. Or better yet, like for a group of rhinoes... A crash.
A crash of trolls sounds suitably ominous AND awesome.

My strength 14 street sam with max bone density and two pairs of striking callus, using Called shot (Vitals) and Jiao Di (Charge) inflicts 22P before net hits are applied. Unarmed is underestimated.

An intrigue of elves, a richness of dwarves, a destruction of orks, a crash of trolls, and a pitying of humans. :P

I always thought it was a wuss of elves?

I thought it was a frolick of elves...
-
I thought it was a deception of elves.
-
And an 'oh hell no' of pixies.
-
I could have sworn it was a smorgasbord.
-
Wasn't it "an abundance of elves"?
I see them everywhere and feel there are too many...
As for pixies all I want to see is a splattering of em

You could also call them a "Forum" of Trolls.... 8)

A herd of elves?
Considering their derogatory nickname of "dandelion eaters," wouldn't it be a bouquet of elves? ;D

A pestilence of elves?

A pestilence of elves?
If we stick with the plant motif, that should probably be a famine of elves. They are pretty thin...
-
A bouquet of elves?
Or maybe a Grove of Elves
