Hey so I thought this could be fun. I love the idea that Ticker programs have funny clever names and apply to a variety of knowledge skills, subjects or things.
To get it us started off I'll post some of my favorites
This one is probably my best
Measure of a Johnson: applies to Johnsons, their specialties and rating. I also figured the Rate My Johnson Ticker was about something else ;D
Narcono: Drug info, Prices, Quality Assurance
Shiawase Seer: News, People, and Products related to Shiawase
Shadow Spotter: Shadow Runner info, Specialties, Ratings
FireWatcher: Ares News, People, Products
Lone Star Reporter: News, Procedures and People
I have more but I really want to see what other people create. Remember Tickers are usually free or cheap but have a way of distributing news to those people who care about that subject.
This is really more for fun and flavor than anything else 8)
Here's the description from Data Trails
Ticker: A series of commlink apps that provide an information feed from a specified source, the vast majority being legitimate, such as stock markets and news organizations. Some shadow services also use these apps to give details on other shadowrunners, fixers, Mr. Johnsons, police response times, and current payment rates for a variety of services and bribes. Ticker reduces the time for subject-related Matrix Searches in half. Obviously, there are a great many topics out there that don’t generate enough traffic to merit an information feed—for example, you can’t subscribe to a feed with up-to-the-minute news about Medieval Europe when Mr. Johnson sends you after a weird-looking cup and expect results to come flooding in.

What is a Ticker?
-
For my generation:a heart.
Beats me what he means.
-
I think he means one of the Commlink programs (or do they call them apps too) from Data Trails.
-
It's an app that helps you with matrix searches.
-
Oh I should totally add the Description to the main post
-
Let's see what I can come up with:
Draconian Measures: Latest updates on how likely it is that a S-K commando unit will raid certain individuals bases, depending on how much they have angered a certain CEO
shadowbnb: Safe houses on demand for people who need to lay low at a moments notice
Gang relations: Which gang is at war with whom at the moment and which territories can be crossed as minimal cost
-
Is Harley In: Latest updates on Harlequin sightings so the rest of us can steer clear of clown boy.
Meet & Eat: Best places to meet with the Johnson or other teams and grab a meal as voted by Runners, including dress codes, pricing and more.
ScripSearch: tracking current exchange rates for corpscrip on the shadow market.
-
HeadStart: Lists recently posted bounties.
Spare Mag: provides a small summary of new weapon inventory.
12th Round: shows upcoming scheduled fighting matches (underground fighting clubs, gang-related, awakened, etc.)
Daily Apple: displays nearby street docs and their fields of pratice
-
My first was, "Heart, but sometimes Lub-a-dub, but that's a really odd ..."
OhhHHhhh.
Well, now I'll have to read up on that thing and see what it does. (I was on leave during teh development of that, to handle some Legend of teh Five Rings stuff.)
-
- 0-dark-thirty: overview of the best clubs and bars in a city (can also be called beer o'clock).

I put most app prices at 5-10¥ - it was the shadow apps that were usually on the higher end.
As for Tickers themselves ...
Weather - current, 12, 24, 48, and 5-day.
Traffic issues (accidents, re-routes, slowdowns).
Overall corporate watches:
Worldwide (AAA and top-end AAs only)
Regional (whether by continent or zone, such as 'PacRim', AAA and AA)
Local (A-rated and above, and even notable sub-A-rated corporations)
Current 'values' for various forms of work.
Gang activity.
Security/Police (whether KE, LS, or other) response times for various areas.
Security/Police alerts.
'Looking For Work/Help Wanted' - shadowrunner LFG sort of thing.
Local Rules/Regs update, for the corporate citizen.
CityWatch - want to keep an eye out for news coming from <Insert City Here>? Boston, Chicago, Denver.
NationWatch - for political/military/yadda stuff from particular nations. Aztlan is a VERY popular NationWatch app. :P
Most of the latter stuff, of course, is per sprawl; move to San Francisco, baby, and you'll need a whole new slew of apps.
-
A couple others:
DragonDen / WyrmWatch - keeps an eye on dragon activities, especially Great Dragons.
Spook Central - About free spirits in specific, and spirits in general.
Also, if you have/use Chummer5, this (http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=23627.0) might help.
