Title: The Horrors- explain

I'm still getting caught up on fiction and background that I've missed in my time away from the game, and part of that is 'The Horrors', which have been mentioned here many times. I'm getting the impression (wrong, likely) that this is sort of a Cthulu-like sort of thing, but I'm looking for more info. Is there a good source of info on them?
