Title: Gel Packs and Gear Access Removable?
Post by: Hobbes on <04-01-16/1725:38>
So fiddling with Armor and options, are Gel Packs easily removable?  I've got a High Str Missions character and I'd like to have a "Heavy" load out with PPP and Helmet and Gel Packs, and a "Polite" load out with one of the fashion acceptable suits.  The Helmet and PPP are pretty obviously a quick change, but are Gel Packs?

Ditto for the Gear Access add on.  I can see the gear access being relatively easy to remove, 30 seconds or so anyway.

Or do I do I add a Gel Pack and Gear Access cloak for my Heavy load out?  That may be the way to go I think.  One very lumpy Cloak.  Be hell finding Artwork for that   : )

I'd say any modifications that take capacity (i.e. are added to a piece of gear) is not easily removable unless specified (like the Silencer weapon modification specifically taking a ... Complex Action/Combat Turn, can't remember, to add or remove).

One vote for Lumpy cloak.  Seriously going to be hard to find character art with a lumpy cloak.   :P

Gear Access is about making items quickly and easily retrievable. Which in my mind means special little pouches and whatnot. Usually you want those pretty securely cinched down so they don't randomly fall off. Kinda like the MOLLE gear for tactical outfits. And while that's still "modular", that doesn't mean speedy refits. Not really something you could jump into the nearest phone booth and change out.

Gel packs on the other hand, are described as looking like you wore a bunch of soy packets over top of your clothes. Which sounds very silly looking, but also something you could pull on and off like a sweater basically. Now if you're wearing it underneath something, then you'd have to remove that first.

Going with "depends" :P

For a strictly tactical combat armor where function trumps form, I would say fairly easy. (2 to 3 minutes work).

For the high end fashion lines? Nope. Factory only or have invested a lot in tailoring skills :p For these armors, its all about NOT looking like armor, which means it takes more time and skill to achieve that 'not armor but is" look.... And lets face it, that's exactly why you dish out thousands for these fashion pieces. If it was as simple as "just throw in a gel pack" these armors would be cheaper.

Yeah, I'm going with Lumpy Cloak.  I'm not happy about it.  Gel Pack and combat webbing cloak over a Mortimer's of London.  Just not a right image.  I may have to go with a second set of armor for aesthetic reasons.  I may be a SINless criminal, but I'm not a barbarian.
