Title: Drone weapon mounts
Post by: Molash on <04-28-16/0935:21>
Have a question on drone weapon mounts, I have a player who wants to put a mini weapon mount on a micro drone.  I personally don't see how this can be done and think that the weapon put on there would be to heavy for the drone to either move or fly.  Any one run into this and your thoughts on the matter?  I'm inclined to rule that you can no go no larger then the size of the drone you are wishing to put it on.

The rules are pretty clear on that. If it has at least one point of Body and you somehow can liberate a build point, you can add a small weapon.

What drone are you talking about specifically?

yar I agree, a weapon on a micro drone seems daft
I'd rule holdout pistol size or similar only and sometimes not even that depending on the drone description.

The only Microdrone I can find that has a Body of 1 is the Noizquito; the Goldfish, Kanmushi, and Microskimmer all have a Body attribute of 0, which means no weapon mount possible.

it is a noisqquito, and I can put a mod on it just trying to figure out if a small mount would be to big for it

I'd just allow the player to mount a blade/syringe to such a drone; basically make it have to do little fly-bys to stab people.  If you do it right, it's an excellent toxin deployment method.

To be fair, Rigger 5.0 does specify in the optional drone weapon mount rules (which you must be using for this to even be remotely possible) that a Micro sized weapon mount can fit "Single-shot bullet or dart". So it's not like you're going to be mounting a Light Pistol or anything even remotely pistol sized on it.

Unfortunately, there are no rules for this kind of weapon (yet), so you'd have to house rule it.

To that end, I'd say use hold out stats with a magazine capacity of 1. Or you can just say "No, micro sized drones are too small to mount weapons." While I usually advocate a "yes, and..." style of GMing, I'd say you have grounds in both the rules and common sense to give a hard no if you'd rather not have this at your table.

That's a good call, Bewilderbeast, I like it. Nice way to get a dart gun on a gunnery platform that is tiny.

Don't they have rules for a one-shot fingertip gun in Chrome Flesh? That would seem to pretty applicable to this size of weapon.

I think that's hard targets.
