Hi guys, my Patreon is up and running -- https://www.patreon.com/Critias?ty=h -- letting me write at a little faster pace (albeit with a little rougher output, since I'm skipping external editors and all that), and with more fan involvement. Like my writing? Get more to read!
First thing's first? Right now you get almost 60,000 words of Warmachine fiction for signing up at any reward tier (even $1!), and you get another 62,000 word compilation of my Shadowrun fiction for just the $3 tier. That's your up-front goodness. Just your up-front goodness!
Now for the ongoing stuff! A couple times a month I'll be popping out short stories -- with a genre suggested by you guys, my patrons! -- that everybody at $3 and up gets to read. If you go to $5, you'll also hang out with me in Google hangouts at least once a month.
Go for $20? Stickers, buttons, patches; little doo-dad geeky things, themed around whatever pops into my head from a given month. Maybe a corporate logo, maybe a military unit patch from my sci-fi stuff, who knows? Cool random geeky stuff, mailed to your house, just as a thank-you for your support
Go even higher? You take on a more active role in my monthly fiction pieces. Maybe I write you or your favorite character in, maybe you get to overrule someone else's genre suggestion, maybe you get to even pick a specific character of mine to scribble about this time. Go hands on! Outrank lesser patrons, make me dance like your little writer-puppet, I don't care. I get to write stuff, so I'm happy.
So. If you've enjoyed my fiction, this is your chance to get more of it. Everything I can share with you guys, anything that's my own and not NDA'ed (including my Over The Stars sci-fi stuff, where I've already started posting previews)? It's yours, before anyone else gets it.
Check it out -- https://www.patreon.com/Critias?ty=h -- and if you like what you see, please consider some patronage, and sharing it around. Thanks folks!

Shouldn't this be in the off off topic section?
Yeah sure that might make some mad, but if the name wasn't Critias, this would be marked as spam and deleted.

You do get SR fiction as part of the offering. We've let other SR-related Patreon post here...don't see any reason why this is different.

Personally I'm trying to figure out why any of it was allowed to be posted here.
Just shows how bad it's gotten when peeps are out and about hustling for money.

Actually if you look in the Off Off section, it did sort of start there (http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=23477.msg445409#msg445409).
However lots of folk just don't scroll down that far, case in point here since you yourself weren't aware this was already there ;), so it makes sense to do a one off to let others know who may have read his SR writing and may be interested to know there may be other works available.

I don't think anyone will be mad for asking as it's a fair question.
However, as for anyone else being shut down, we did something similar (http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=19464.msg348053#msg348053)a while back when SR: Hong Kong was still in the works and Opti and myself were trying to round up folk to pool funds with ourselves toward getting Opti and Bull installed as NPCs in the then upcoming game which one could do by donating to a certain level in the Kickstarter.
While the thread originated in a thread in the Off section (http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=19332.0) we did talk to Fastjack about putting a thread up in General to make sure it would be alright before doing so, again because the off section area is often overlooked.
Very few of us could make that level of donation by ourselves, but by pooling resources with others here and elsewhere we were able to get both installed.
Sort of our own thanks to them for all their work adding to the game.

Well, it is a proven writer who wants to use the Patreon system to be able to continue writing so it is not too terribly surprising to see it here as this is where many of his fans would be.
So long as he isn't spamming the forum with twitter-like updates I doubt most would see it as a problem.
Which he hasn't, he put up the thread and left it for us to talk about, so really you are actually helping keep it at the top of the boards by making it a discussion point. :P
Ultimately though you get to vote with your chequebook, by either donating or passing on it and that is really the best way to express your support or not.
Now, let's talk about maybe getting a kickstarter for the Dragon Ladies of SR swimsuit calendar going.
I may or may not have pics of Hestaby in an orange strappy eyelet monokini to contribute. ;D

I'm in at $3 for a few months. Russell , maybe it would be nice if you put the download links to the former uploaded stuff into the welcome message for new patrons. It took me a while to come up with the idea to browse the old posts on the website, normally accessing this stuff from my phone, and via the emails im getting...
That said, where's the Warmachine fiction again ? I can't find it anymore...
-
Thanks, Thanael. I'll look into better organization, that hadn't occurred to me (probably because it's so new, I've just kind of been posting stuff as it happens). I'll tinker around with Patreon's interface and see what I can find that'll let me lay out the attachments in a more orderly way. I appreciate it!
The Warmachine fiction goes out to everybody regardless of reward tier, and it's right in that initial "thank you" message you got when you first signed up. If that's not something y'all can access again on your end, I'll look into fixing that, too.
Sorry for any clunkiness, I'm still getting a handle on the Patreon interface, and it's not always super clear what I see compared to what a patron sees, y'know? I'll work on it, thanks!

Yeah, the Patreon interface is a bit wonky. I've found it useful to log off of Patreon from time to time and then visit my page.
One suggestion for you Critias is to set up a Dropbox of Google Doc folder that you put your writing into. THat's what I ended up doing. That way you can direct link new stuff, but also have a general link to the main folder for your welcome message. It's not fantastic, since all they'll have to go by is the folder names and the file names, but... Still better than nothing. :)

Yeah, I'm leaning that way. It looks like Patreon itself won't help much with making stuff available in a central location, so doing it off-site is going to have to be the way to go.
