Title: CHOMP CHOMP
Post by: Redactedguy on <05-13-16/2326:54>
So, I'm sitting here reading the Street Grimoire and I'm like "Wait a minute, why are there no aquatic shifters?"

I'm playing in a campaign set in Seattle and there is a ton of water there. I'd like to play a gator or shark or something fun. Any suggestions or links to stuff or something for the aquatic animals turned metahumans?

I imagine breathing would be difficult. Also, bears can swim :) I've got a bear shifter in my game.

Do you mean Run Faster instead of Street Grimoire?

I did, and while you're right about sharks having a problem breathing... toads, alligators, etc.

Also, does Chummer not support the creation of Shifters?

Tell that to a Polar Bear ;)
soon there'll be "Howling Shadows " , the 5th ed Monster Manual
look for Sharks or other aquatic Monster  than proceed to create a Shark Shapeshifter ( an Anaconda or Boa Constrictor SS could also be interesting.... )
If You can't /won't want to wait, than go get the "Running Wild" (4A Ed MM )
And I know that there is already a Giant Snake Shapeshifter NPC , but I don't remember in which PDF...?
Maybe Hard Targets ? Sorry, I forgot where it is, but I know it exists ....!

For now I guess I'm going classic wolf, Amerindian. Should be fun, I hope.

One day, I hope the SURGE & Shapeshifter rules will dig from the same pool of metageneric qualities, with only minor difference in how they're selected.

If you want to play something like that, talk to your GM and create something.  It might be a bit harder work but if you take something that exists and tweak it a little bit, it should work and I always found it very much fun to do things like that.  I like to create new things for a game, although it sometimes is difficult keeping game balance.

I think this is on their list to do, but they said if they are going to do it they want to do it right and keeping track of two stats is hard for them right now.

Back in 3rd ed they had the Selkies, seal shapeshifters. They had a weakness of trying to refrain from shifting when immersed in too much water. Shouldn't be too hard to adapt to the modern rule-set.

I can respect them wanting to get it right the first time. Definitely a tough thing for them to work on.

Guess it's back to good old excel!
