Hey there.
First off, I admit that did not even know where to reach out with this question, since the official forums for the game seemed rather dead/inactive and there didn't seemed to be a better place that talks about the Shadowrun lore.
I also apologize if this is the wrong section. I was not sure if this should go to the gaming section, but I saw some Dragonfall threads in here so decided to use it.
I am basically looking for loremasters/experts who are informed on the matters of spirits (namely the Adversary), shamanism etc. in relation to the events that happened in the Dragonfall videogame.Currently working on a little story concept/project and even though I have already studied the wiki, forums and sourcebooks like Street Magic and Magic Shadows, I am still quite unsure about some things.:
- After Feurestelle burns down and the spirit is purified from corruption, would Harrow (toxic shaman) still keep the Adversary's favour or would it be deemed as a failure and he would lose it?
I know that for example Dietrich would definitely lose the Dragonslayer if he didn't obey its wishes (picking a bigger fight), but does would the same apply in Harrow's case?
- Let's say he sets up a new cult and still has Adversary's favour. Since it is rather vague how he even managed to find and corrupt the first spirit (Heart of Feuerstelle), how would he even attempt to do so this time? Free spirits don't exactly grow on trees to my knowledge and it seems to me that Harrow seriously lucked out the first time when he managed to capture/corrupt one that dealt in brainwashing as well. (Although maybe it could be asumed that the Adversary had a hand in "guiding" him how to find one and do so?)
Thanks in advance!

Totems (even "dark" and the truly corrupt ones) take the Long Run perspective, and given how few followers the Adversary has relative to the number of Awakened (waiting to be turned or ruined), I doubt 'It' would be in any hurry to dispose of such a useful agent over one mistake. In fact, I'd guess that unless Harrow outright rejects the Adversary, only death or severe essence loss will bring an end to his magical shenanigans.
As for Free spirits, well, if you're looking to bind Free Spirits like a proper evil bastard, one probable step any sufficiently high grade Initiate can take is to journey to the Metaplanes in search of information; specifically, looking for the spirit's True Name. It's very difficult and VERY dangerous (both in metaspace and in the real world) but the results are quite potent, to say the least.

Very interesting, thank you.
I must have completely missed the "True name" factor, but it makes tremendous amount of sense now that I've read up on it a bit.
So basically - Harrow would set up a cult, and then go on a quest in the Metaplanes to enslave and corrupt a spirit for more easy brainwashing like before.
Does he have to do it on his own, or can he bring someone else with him along the way, say.. maybe a powerful magical assistant or maybe one of his magically inclined "wives" (who would have to be equally powerful or maybe even more)?
Also one more thing I do not get:
When the purified spirit gets bound to Glory in her "good" outcome, how exactly does it work? (It asks for a vessel touched by magic but more dead than alive, which obviously refers to her) Since she "bounds" it to herself, isn't it in fact a possession in which case she would lose control over her body? Or maybe I am just reading it wrong and it's actually implied that the spirit gets bound to her Chrome or something like that? Can she "talk" to it (in her mind etc.)?

1) Yes more than one person can go on astral quests together. There are adventures written for SR with exactly that kind of story. The reason why some mages prefer not to, is generally because the Dweller on the Threshold usually reveals nasty secrets about you, that you would rather keep hidden and that the secrets found on the quest will be known by every participant.
2) I think what Glory got was actually a spirit pact not possession. If you look it up, the magic books has information on spirit pacts, which only free spirits can do btw. And yes they are bound together, even more intimately than a normal summoner and spirit and yes they can talk to each other. Strictly speaking even mundanes can enter into a spirit pact, but various spirits will have preferences as to which people they engage in a pact with.
