Title: TM link-locking Persona / "Ritual" Complex Forms
Post by: belaran on <08-16-16/1336:30>
Hi all,

Some context first: I want a bunch of dissonant technomancers from Ex Pacis, to ambush my PCs in a node where they have a virtual meet. For all intents and purposes, I would like the TMs to be able to link-locked all of them so that my PCs have to "fight for their live" - or at least have to roll some dice to jack out.

However, as TM can not run program, they can't use the Lockdown program to link the persona. As far as I've seen, there is no complex forms equivalent of this.

So here is my first question: can you confirms that (for now at least) TMs have no way to link-locked somebody ?

Ignoring this missing piece, I wanted to rule that the TM will have all the PCs link-locked as soon as they appears, because they perform a sort of "Ritual Complex Forms". Afterall, as there is a lot of similarities between TM and mage/shaman, would it be too far of a scretch to imagine that Ex-Pacis managed to design such "ritual complex forms" ?

So, my second question is: is there anything "canon" (core books, novels, ...) that would go against such an idea ? (just to cover my bases)

There is definitely a novel that has a Dissonant TM link-locking.  Can't remember the name of it off the top of my head.

And as for your TMs being able to Link-Lock, simply have them have submerged once and gotten the Resonance Lockdown Echo.  For a PC it would be a complete waste of karma, but for an NPC or group of them it makes sense.

Of course, I completly forgot about the Echoes you can get with Submersion! I knew there was a way for TM to have programs (or program like effect).

Viele Dank, chummer !
