Very new to the game (though not to RPG's) and trying to work through the pre-made characters as a way to learn the system.
In the box set Sledge the Ork is listed with:
Reaction 4 ( 8 )
I'm trying to reverse engineer the bonus but can only find 3 points so far
1) wired reflexes (+1)
2) reaction enhancers (+2)
Anyone familiar with the system (and having the stats for Sledge) who could spot the missing +1?
Thanks

usually thats a good Idea , but not with SR5
You see, the Freelancer made those Chars, but the Developer later changed the Parameter / the Rules without also changing those Chars thats f.E. why Sledge the Orc Streetsam has (IIRC) 200.000 ¥ too much in Resources (the Developers raised the Price for some of the 'ware) and maybe thats also why there is a Point of REA missing/too much (? )
( at least that has been the Info around here or at the Dumpschock Forum)

This is good to know. It read like an expierienced/wealthy character - and knowing this maybe really over the top.
Is it likely to be a pure typo (i.e. bad math, adding a bonus that doesn't exist given the information on the sheet)? Or a bonus that does make sense given the listed cyber/boosts but simply one he shouldn't be able to afford)?

I just don't know
only the Freelancer and/or the Devs can tell you that

I would add up his Attribute points. If he is a point under a given Priority, then his Reaction should be 5 [8]; if his Attributes are correct, then his Reaction should be 4 [7].
The street samurai archetype in the core rules was 200,000+ Nuyen over; I can't say about Sledge, but his augmentations seem very different than the street samurai archetype's (he had synaptic boosters: 2, among other things).
Keep in mind that Shadowrun is not like D&D where you start out at first level. You may not be the best in the world when starting out, but you are still a professional, not a beginner. A starting character can begin play with up to 450,000 Nuyen to purchase augmentations with. Wired reflexes: 1 and reaction enhancers: 2 is pretty normal.

Absolutely - I get that this could be anywhere from a beginning to a very experienced runner (i.e. can't predict if they are base stats or have been raised along the way). So my edumacation was solely trying to figure out the "missing" +1 on the bonus. Even if the build is not supported the creation rules purely wondering if the bonus on the sheet is correct or not. If it's +3 then it's an editing error, if it's a +4 then I'm still missing something in his abilties/augs that provide that additional +1. Just me trying to discern if I'm finding everything in the tome of a rulebook :)

Are you looking at Sledge, the guy from the box set, or the archetypical Samurai from the core book?
They're quite different.
