I just watched the cult classic(ish) 1992 movie Split Second, with Rutger Hauer playing the lead character in a movie with strong shades of cyberpunk tone if not subject matter.

The classic Shadowrun character Jake Armitage first showed up in the 1993 videogame Shadowrun for the SNES

They modeled Jake Armitage's appearance off of Rutger Hauer in the movie.

I'm absolutely sure someone's noticed it before me, but it was a nice little eureka moment.

First off, I love that movie, and secondly, I really want a rotary shotgun.

But yeah, I noticed the similarity too. Not sure if they modeled Jkje Armitage off Harley Stone directly, or if it was just influence taking it so close. But I tend to think the same as you, that it's a nice little head nod to the movie.

I just wanted to stop in and say thanks for making this thread. I love the SNES Shadowrun game (it was my introduction to the setting) and I love Rutger Hauer, but I'd never seen this film. So I tracked down a copy to watch and I was delighted. The only way it could be better is if I found out MST3K did an episode on it or there's a Rifftrax for it.
