This is rolls and the normal 'table' chit-chat.
You guys, are not part of the work crew BTW. It just sets the scene that it's important enough for the Chulos to clean up the barrens for the party.
-
Just wanted to playing with some skills and rolls and stuff, because I'm really new player only just now starting to understand the hard mechanics of the game. Let me know if any of my calculations are wrong.
[Casting Improved Invisibility, Force 4]
Improved Invisibility, Force 4 Magic (4) + Spellcasting (3)= (7d6.hits(5)=0) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2863040/)
[Drain Test]
Drain Test, DV 3 Willpower (5) + Charisma (7) = (12d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2863042/)
[Drain Resisted. Trying to re-cast that:]
Improved Invisibility, Force 4 Magic (4) + Spellcasting (3) = (7d6.hits(5)=2) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2863043/)
[Drain Test]
Drain Test, DV 3 Willpower (5) + Charisma (7) = (12d6.hits(5)=4) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2863044/)
[Drain Resisted]
[Infiltration Roll]
Infiltration Roll Infiltration (6) + Agility (4) = (10d6.hits(5)=5) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2863049/)
[Perception Roll]
Perception Roll Intuition (3) - 1 for Defaulting = (2d6.hits(5)=1) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2863050/)
Also, any more information on what's going on ICly right now? What sort of state are the Chulos in? What's this big party celebarting? Would our characters have any inkling?
OOC:
Duh... it's Cinco de Mayo, isn't it?
-
Ugh, caught a mistake already. My sustaining focus is only force 2, which means it couldn't carry my invisibility spell, which is force 4. Can we just pretend I can it at force 2? I think you can ignore your hits or something, purposefully reduce them in order to make them fit into the focus... right? I think I remember reading that somewhere. *flips through his book*
-

Ignoring hits for that purpose is fine, up to the GM about the drain though.
-
I'll rule that the focus will 'store' the rating 2 spell at its focus rating...ie 2. (You have [spell] rating 2 running on it).
-
You can remove hits from your roll, as always. Removing is okay, it's adding them that's a problem. :)
-
Something to consider about Improved Invisibility is that hits are capped by force, and the benefit it has over regular mental invisibility is that it's supposed to hide you from cameras. But to do that, the spell needs to beat the cameras' Object Resistance, or OR. That specific value is 3, so should you need to hide from sensors and such during a run, don't count on your focus to hold it for you.
-
That was Kontact's 666th post. Enjoy.
-
Thanks for the advice, Kontact. I was kind of just screwing around in my opening post... Smiles is the kind of guy that would cast spells all day just 'cause he can. But when actual mission time comes, I doubt I'll be casting anything under Force 4. But it's good to know what the actual threshold is for cameras... where can I find that information in the book?
Also, it's been a few days now and only three of the players have posted. Boer, have you sent PMs to the other players knowing they've been accepted? It happened to me in the Missions thread; I posted my character sheet and then kind of forgot about, figuring I'd be informed when and if I was accepted into the thread. By the time I got a PM from the GM, I found out the game had already been going on for days with my character explictly in it, and everybody was growing impatient for my first post!
Point is, it can be helpful to send reminders.
-
Boer told me to let you guys know that he is having a MONITOR issue. I told him to stop looking at the Chulo dwarf porn, but what can you say. lol He should be back on tomorrow which will be 2/4/2011, so he can update the story.
-
Alrighty...got the new'ish monitor up and checking in with yall. I'm making sure it was only the monitor so please bear with me.
-
where can I find that information in the book?
Object resistance table p.183
Recreated, lovingly, here:
category <<threshold>>
Natural Objects <<1>>
(Trees, Soil, Unprocessed Water)
Manufactured Low-Tech Objects and Materials <<2>>
(Brick, Leather, Simple Plastics)

Great posts everyone whose posted so far. I'll be hitting up the strays to see if they're still in, if no reply we'll move along and bring in a few reserves......but great posts!
-
Myra, looking at the bet lines. Curses at the spreads. "ah, hell going to be one those weeks. She goes out for a beer and to see how the chulos are doing. After scoping out the area a bit she finds a nice place to have a drink and to keep an eye out on the activity.

Shouldn't this go in [IC]?
-
Probably. ;)
BTW, we all know each other, don't we?
-
Okay, its sunday night here and my missing players have exactly 11 hours before I move on and possibly replace them. My apologize to my players for the slow pace up till now.
-
Chroma, yes it should've. New to play by post and wasn't sure what ic and IOC was. Now after some research I do. Thanks.
-
Sorry guys. You left the man hanging (for 3 days in RL), so he took it as a snub.
-
Well, i was waiting for something more interesting than a handful of drugs. Jack is a healthy guy, he works in a corporate clinic. ;P
-
"Don" isnt superior to you guys, same level actually.
-
I'm just giving him the credit. :P
-
Well, he likes to think he's in charge of alot anyways 8)
-
I'm having computer trouble, so I won't be able to post very frequently. Luckily, this thread seems to be moving slow enough that I can still participate while I get everything fixed. I'll just be a little random/spotty in my availability until I figure out what the heck is causing these random lockups.
-
Thanks for the update Bewilder. I'll be bringing in some of the reserves to get this going, I need a full crew to be sucessful.
-
Hey guys, where did the "crate of liquor" come from? Also where is the truck you are getting it from? Don pulled up in a car, and from what I gathered had a couple bottles of tequila. If the truck you are referring to is the semi that was carrying the beer, I thought it was going to another location that we were going to get to at a later time. I was just wondering where the crates where coming from. My character will appear soon again, I was waiting on what was happening with Don to see how I introduce him to you guys. You guys might know him from other gang stuff, but for this part just waiting to place him into the action.
-
It was "cretive license"/"roleplay iniiative" on my part that the party had at least some booe being delivered already. Boer didn't shoot it down so I ran with it
-
i dont mind creative liscence, especially if its not game changing and it keeps the game moving. Since Don's about to leave it'd be a good time to pop in.
-
Games ground to a halt =(
-
I'm trying to recruit some new blood and hopefully get it up strong. Sorry, seems I picked a few wrong guys.
-
I'm trying to recruit some new blood and hopefully get it up strong. Sorry, seems I picked a few wrong guys.
No Problem
-
I can wait. I like the character. :)
-
I'm still interested, but I probably won't be getting my PC back until a week from Tuesday. I have opportunities to post elsewhere, but it's a little sporadic... I'll try and throw a post up today.
EDIT: Made a post, to just to keep in the game. Smiles is an alcoholic, so keeping true to his character, he's going to go get tipsy. Not hammered, if he can help it (let me know if you want a addiction resistance test, Boer, or whatever they're called). But certainly inebriated enough to inflict some sort of penalty to appropriate actions, at the GM's discretion.
-
Dogpound scene, ACTIVATE!
-
... has that ever worked?
-
this time it did lol
Okay, I want to reiterate the fact that while I will be throwing things at you guys to tackle, this is a 'sandbox' type game. Let your inner scumbag out and find a niche'. I presented two already.....Don and Pablo, best you get working on your piece of the pie unless you're happy being muscle.
-
xzy....no metahumans fight in the pound.
-
Great, so improv it is... let me know when I get things wrong though. Like here I imaging the roof being the typical kind of triangular hangar roof, corrugated sheets on metal A-shaped supports, allowing room to sit on if you can reach it and aren't scared of heights.
Might well be that you envisioned the building a flat roof on straight concrete supports, in which case, Rafa's either flattened at the moment, or you tell me to edit the post to fit what you had in mind.
Incidentally: Are there rules for jumping down? Rafa can apparently jump a maximum of 3 meters into the air... and then gets 4 damage just from coming down again? That's just weird.
Edit: See, that's what I'm talking about. ;) Forgot we're in the kind of area where Orks are actually considered metahuman instead of vermin...
Post editted.
-
Yes, everything makes Heretic think of torture.
-
Bah, Kot, that's just dirty!
If you're going to share inner thoughts, share all of them damnit :p
-
I'm just roleplaying Home Ground here. :)
-
okay, just got a PM from a delinquent player about them posting today. If they havent posted by midnight, I'm continueing on. Sorry about throwing this into the holding pattern, but it wont be a long wait.
-
well Im back from the hospital and ready to roll :)
and maybe to add a little fuael to the fire....
-
I'll be gone this weekend, should be back sunday night or otherwise monday and check in then.

I hope I'm not bothering anyone with this. I mean, you've met an angry woman before, yeah? Not exactly rational, heh.
I'm trying to play the kind of vindictive bitch who its threatening in her unpredictable nature, so I'm hoping to establish that early on.
You know, someone where even the idea of them being nice is somehow frightening.
Thanks for putting up with it.
BTW, Boer, it's your move. :p
-
yes, I know. It's now 30 past midnight my time and I'll be forging onward with or without everyone. I think I was more than fair.
-
Not the reply I'm sure you wanted, but hey........you brought it on.
I have to add 2 more dice, but effect will not likely change.
BBCode2d6.hits(5)=2 (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2941790/)
still short of 6 needed
-
I generally don't think of mental intimidation as so overtly threatening... I was going for more of the "throwing their position into doubt," kind of thing. Reminding this guy that I don't work for him, so he can't just summon me for no good reason and expect me to smile about it.
Mental intimidation is about making people doubt the certainty of their position, not crap their pants. 8)
OH MAN
I just realized that I forgot to mention that it was a mental intimidation roll. I included my specialization in there, which is mental intimidation, but expecting you to remember that, Boer, is stupidly presumptuous of me.
Just didn't want the guy taking us lightly, like he can whistle for us to come and not provide us with any specific reason to be there.
-
hm...please, someone enlighten me...what the hell is BBCode ???
-
Bulletin Board Code.
stuff like [img] [url] etc.
Boer just grabbed the code at the bottom of invisible castle so we could check his rolls if we wanted.
-
Well, now i remember, I do this all the time. But still, I have no idea what he was rolling :)
-
He forgot two dice on his roll to resist the intimidation. Probably for "ace in the hole"
-
Fuck, seems like a bad weekend to miss... sorry. Back in 40 hours or so.
-
He forgot two dice on his roll to resist the intimidation. Probably for "ace in the hole"
Nope shorted him on both both willpower and his own intimidation...didnt apply ace in the hole as he was out numbered by you guys, but did have reinforcements near...just negated any pluses/minuses on that.
-
No Prob for me, Gang stuff
...lets move on :)
addict...
Yeasterday Iv bought Attitude, just finished BP shuffling for another character, now Ill have to create a background and Ill start to read it. Im pretty currious :)
-
This is from the initial recruitment thread, I'll highlight the areas of importance.
@inca1980: Culturally the Chulos are latinos, especially close to their Aztec roots so the Robin Hood, white anglo-saxon angle is well...not appropriate. There is then the issue that people are scared of Technomancers, which can be played off as being a really talented hacker, which leads to the lack of high tech available to your surroundings, not to mention your hood is a z zone with not alot of reliable wifi....an issue for TM's. TM's are not really 'earth based' as they are AR/VR and if in a pack mentality they group together (as TMs). Long way around saying no, but I wanted to give you a reason and not seem to dismiss it out of hand.
It's why a runner was sent out and not a phone call.
-
@Chrona: Are you trying to calm him down or push the situation with an intimidation?
@You all: You really need to take a moment of reflection here, an attempt to trying to push the story along by provoking an NPC reaction isnt the smartest thing, especially when it was posted that I was needing more time to get a handle on players. Hmmmm I missed a few things myself, such as the mental specialist aspect (and your intentions).
-
It's why a runner was sent out and not a phone call.
I'm just trying to highlight Dizzy's disconnection from the hood. I hope you don't mind. I'm not trying to criticize you or you characters. :)
She's gotten used to things like filtered water and personal electronics. Hell, a stay in McNiel Prison is better than living in a z-zone..
-
Same as before calm the leader, intimidate the guards
-
Roger. You guys might need to prode me in the right direction now and again. My wife says i'm awfully dense at times, she could be right. :-[
-
No problem Boer
-
Strongly reconsidering Rafa having a point in etiquette... I just can't seem to play him that way. His thoughts on gang etiquette are pretty much: act tough or get your ass kicked.
Which might actually be proper etiquette, I'm not sure... never really had first hand experience in being an ork in a 2072 latino go-gang.
-
Hey...nothings wrong. Like Boer says...it a sandbox. So we are on our own to find out any details before the meeting. At least we know that it is going to happen. I thing it had the spirit and cohones, latino temperament and such. Im enjoying that. lets roll on, we are gangers, no runners ;)
-

Which might actually be proper etiquette, I'm not sure... never really had first hand experience in being an ork in a 2072 latino go-gang.
Etiquette isn't about not saying the wrong thing. Rather it's about saying the right thing. It's mechanical effect is to make someone who didn't like you, like you. Or making someone who is suspicious of you, friendly. There is no negative consequence of failed etiquette, only glitched etiquette. Failed etiquette means that a guy who was neutral or suspicious remains neutral or suspicious.
So, having no etiquette means a guy's just not good at putting people to ease. Having a little means that you know how to put people at ease when needed.
-
Kontact nailed it!
-
Laugh.
That'll be a skill Rafa rarely uses... putting people at ease... yeah, he cares a lot about that.
Anyhow, what's next? Since Dizzy ain't part of the bunch at least 'till midnight, we fast forward? Rafa'd probably want to go there an hour or two in advance... he likes climbing towers; probably knows the place where we're meeting; would like to get a clear idea who else is coming before joining. And checking out other potential troubles.
-
I'm off to work. Will update and advance the story to the underground parking garage of the Towers when I get home in 8 hours.
-
Stryker smiled to the guards as he spoke - openly - to the others through the network. "I'm at the doors, the guys guarding don't mind me waiting for you."
Mistaking what game you're in? Or did we just get some kick-ass back-up... or enemy? :p
-
That's what I get for multitasking on a few posts at the same time. :P
-
Not just a run mismatch, also a character name at the quoted post :D
-
Hoi chummers. Wanna take a ride for the rest of the way? Ive got some place left in here!
Uhm, going to ignore that... Rafa was sitting right on top of the tower, don't see why he'd climb down to another block, heh. At the most, he'll drop off just around the corner, just so he doesn't startle the guards by jumping down right in front of them.
-
Well, thats what I think. Around the corner, not jumping right in front of guards....
Im starting to feel that my descriptions in english are more than fucked up. So ill keep my mouth shout until something is going on.
Block...I mean pillar or something...I editted y post.
From what Boer wrote, i got the idea that "depths of parking garage" means that there is underground parking level...right?
-
My bad... not really a problem with your English, in fact it might be mine. I wrote 'will be down in a minute', but that doesn't necessarily mean 60 seconds, I just meant 'soon'.
Just that it's kinda difficult if other character's actions get assumed by another, before they're posted actually doing so... We'll get totally different ideas of what's going on and events will get all tangled.
I'm going to make Rafa to come down on the other side of the building, his bike's parked there. He'll come by park. Since it's a parking lot, he might just as well arrive on wheels.
Yeah, a building with underground parking... the way he describes it, I'm guessing more than 1 level below ground too.
-
Good thing is, that we should always correct the post to ferlect the reality, if we have made some bad assumptions about other characters actions before :)
Post edited, see you later in the garage...
-
First off, apologies for being 'ghostly' last two days. My boss had to take some emergency time off and my 13 hour work week went to 32 hours, and I still have school. School work is almost done for week so, will be up full strength here before long.
-
Q: We know Walter/Diablo? He just got out of prison so is connected mostly to the Chulos in prison (and so, possibly Dizzy), or he been back on the streets for a while?
Also, got any description of him somewhere? I seem to remember reading a description + longer version of the background somewhere; but I'm on meds, so might be making it up.
-
Hey. Paco. Well, I assumed that from what I heard, I was just curious, if there are some other power players or it is just between those two cocks? And what exactly do you mean "visit"? Something like Lone Star SWAT commando? Like a nice way from them to say farewell before they hand over the Emerald to KE??
... Another one who's got his games crossed? :p That's history in this game, you've got set Darkness Prevails setting in your mind, no? ;-)
-
yup, I thought that this is the game that happens before LS / KE hand over :)
-
Nope, firmly in KE's hands, but common mistake...its so hard to distance LS from being the law.
-
Logic(3)+Area Knowledge(4)+Home Ground(2) (9d6.hits(5)=3) (http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2955336/)
Jack analyzes the situation in his mind, helping himself with AR and commlink, though as he's at the same time paying attention to other things, I'll pass on the AR bonus.
-
I'm really kind of lost here, half the stuff Boer writes I could easily be getting wrong...
Luckily, I think that counts for Rafa too, so that's just fine. :)
Edit: Amazingly, I find the Troll language a lot easier to understand than the Latin lingo... guess Rafa joined the wrong gang ;)
-
well bad English is easier to write than bad Spanish for me :-[
-
Sichr: The Trolls didnt arrive by bike, but a large SUV driven by a Chulo did arrive shortly before they arrived to the meeting, and a group of 6 guards walked down with the SUV.
-
well bad English is easier to write than bad Spanish for me :-[
Both is the same: Hard to understand for me :D
dont wory, No problem, I manage to go through it, it jus takes more time :)
-
Cutters got poisoned years back by unknown person or persons.
-
Ah, Rafa's "knowledge" roll pretty much confirms my thoughts that aside from knowing who the cutters are, he doesn't know/care.
Sure he's heard some rumors (about Vory?), but politics and gossip are a thing for corpses. He cares about their own turf, that's about it.
I figured the (past) war between Ancients and Spikes to be common knowledge though.
-

The Home Ground bonus is actually +4 for knowledge skills. :o
-
Oh. Didn't notice that one. And I'd be happy if you suggest what part exactly is Jack's home ground.

@Xzylvador
Sorry, been really busy this last week. Was on vacation and spending lots of time with my girlfriend. I seem to be able to get on about once a week now, Walter a.k.a. Little Devil or El pequeño diablo, been well with the gang for some time now, you might know him from seeing him around or doing some mission with him in the past.
Name: Walter Sobchak
Alias: El pequeño diablo
Race: Dwarf (25 BP)
Sex: Male
Age: 35
Nationality: Latino
Lifestyle: Low
Karma Spent: XXXXX
Back Story: Walter Sobchak, son of Viktor Sobchak (high up in the Russian Mafia) and Sofia Castillo. At the age of 15 Walter's parents were murdered. Walter suspected his father's ties to the Russian Mafia. Having no training on how to exact his revenge Walter soon ended up joining the Mexican army. After many years of service, and a very bad tip off on who killed his parents. Walter ended up getting caught and thrown in jail for destroying a bridge in which his parents killer was driving over. Needless to say Walter's parents killer was not heading over the bridge at the time the explosives went off. Walter kicked himself in the butt for setting the timer too short as he was fleeing the service closet where he had stored the 15 kilos of explosives. Luckily the iron door took most of the impact as the timer hit 00:00. Walter was sent flying through the air and landed right into the windshield of the Prime Minister of Russia. When Walter woke up he was behind bars. Life took a turn for Walter behind bars, the Chulos quickly accepted him as one of their own. Walter served his time, claiming he was under orders to demolish the bridge... he had the right work orders to prove that, thanks to a old buddy from the army for editing those files for him. Walter just wished it didn't take 5 years for them to release him. Now out and on his own again, Walter soon finds himself joining the Chulos. Where they need protection he is there to stand tall.
