I really, really wish that scientists would sometimes watch some Sci-Fi.....

Between these, and the robot 'carers' Japan is building, plus a few other creepy AI developments recently, I really wish the general public paid a bit more attention.

That isn't scary...the researchers mapping the human brain and the quantum computer work (think of it as the scientific equivalent of peanut butter and chocolate)...now that is scary.  :o
