Title: Cycling timer
Post by: Hephaestus on <06-23-19/2002:54>
The Shadows Get Darker... in 13 seconds...

Not sure if everyone is seeing this, but the timer is hitting zero, then jumping back to 13 seconds. Not a good start for 6th ed.

I think I have found the reason.

Nice. But I thought it only worked once?

In Third Edition, yes. But we're on Sixth Edition now, and it's not so nerfed these days.

I find it telling that people's first assumption is that CGL messed up, rather than that it may have been intentional.

With everything that’s going on, you’re worried about the clock?

Quite. CGL have not inspired absolute faith in their handling of the launch process so far.

(Also, I have a suspicion that they were stymied by caching. I had the window open when the timer went to zero, and it was several hours before the chat window appeared. I suspect that that wasn't intentional, but rather a side effect of my browser caching the countdown version and not refreshing for a while.)

Yeah it looks like the cycling number part was intended but they didn’t load the text for a while and I doubt that was intended. So yeah they messed up. Was Running my game in San Francisco, by the time we were done for the night it was fixed so no biggie but it was a bit flubbed.

OR that they got you all talking about the cycling timer for four hours, and releasing it then. I mean, even I was checking the sight every fifteen minutes until bedtime and then stayed up past when I should have gone to bed to read the entire text twice.

Sure. They did that on purpose to build hype. Right. That was the plan.

The repeating timer is intentional. The updates are unintentionally delayed due to human (in)action.
