Title: Shadowrun, Sixth Edition at Gen Con
Post by: Cubby on <07-24-19/1319:26>
Shadowrun, Sixth World at Gen Con
By Jason Hardy, Line Developer

Gen Con is a week away, which means we’re really close to seeing lots of people from the Shadowrun community, soaking in Shadowrun games, and indulging in a number of ways to create more Shadowrun fun!

The Catalyst Demo Team will, of course, be running a ton of games during the con, and we’ll also be demoing the new Shadowrun, Sixth World rules at the booth. You can also dive into a demo of the board game Shadowrun: Sprawl Ops!

But the fun doesn’t stop there. It’s Shadowrun’s thirtieth anniversary, so we want to spread Shadowrun joy around. We’ll have a special display case of Shadowrun goodies from across the years for your viewing pleasure, and we’ll have plenty of new products for sale at the booth. Let’s get a look at the Shadowrun items you’ll be able to pick up at the con!

Hey Cubby!

We're seeing the packaging for the Dice & Edge Tokens, but I haven't seen any pictures of the actual tokens themselves. Think we can get some shots?

Also, any info on the versions of Core and maybe an example of a Rogue card? 😊 I want to know if I should get one or just use my Sprawl Ops cards.

I think I'm being dense on this, but is the price of the basic CRB at GenCon listed anywhere? Can't make the run up to the con this year so I'm trying to send someone in my place with some cash.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... whoa...

To get 1 of the 12 statues, you have to drop $500 to get a "Super Fan Package", which includes:

One (1) Shadowrun, Sixth World core rulebook
One (1) Shadowrun, Sixth World Executive Edition book
One (1) copy of No Future
One (1) Shadowrun Dice & Edge Tokens pack
One (1) set of Rogue’s Gallery minis
One (1) Sledge statue

Then pay an additional $150 to be able to pick up the statue you already paid for in the Super fan Package?

Either they don't know how to list products, or that's big pile of bull-drek.

I don’t think there’s a right way to read that. It makes no sense.

Or am I reading this wrong?

Nope, you read it correctly. They only have 12 available for sale at the Con, so if you absolutely must have one from the Con itself, then you buy the superfan package for $500, and then can buy the statue for another $150 at the listed times. Or you can just wait until they go on sale later in the year and buy it without the requirement of buying the superfan package.

Post by: FastJack on <07-24-19/2154:23>
Yeah... I'm not so sure, since it seems to imply the statue is part of the Superfan package. I'm going to reach out to Jason for clarification.

This would be less confusing if they just had a battle royal in the build-and-fight foam weapons pit...

I'm still upset I didn't win the Katana for the one Shadowrun tourney I was a part of. Mostly due to switching GMs between the two nights and the 2nd GM had zero notes on what we did from the 1st GM.

What a bunch of jerks...

Well, this time around you just have to drop $500... then get there at a predetermined time, possibly bare-knuckle boxing other people who also paid $500... all for the chance to pay another $150 for a collectable statue a couple months before its not a collectable anymore. Seems like a milk run.

Okay, this is less confusing now. So you pay the $500, and maybe get to have your statue when you leave GenCon (assuming more than 12 people pay for the package). And if you don't get the one you paid for, you'll get it shipped to you a few months later when they hit general release then, right?

I bought my hardcopy of No Future at my FLGS last weekend, and it has the AR slipcover.  Honestly it works even better than I'd hoped, as it is five sided and quite sturdy so the book sits in it very solidly and it is honestly quite satisfying to slide the book into the cover (for me, anyway, my son has been reading it too and I keep finding book and cover in different rooms).

Amazon lies. Specifically, it is not a partner of Catalyst so it tosses things up there without getting full info from CGL. I'm guessing they based it on the SR5 price.
Title: Re: Shadowrun, Sixth Edition at Gen Con
Post by: FastJack on <07-30-19/1036:56>
Actually, most of the sellers on Amazon are third-party game shops that overprice the books, tack on $15 for Shipping, and say it will arrive between August 10th and October 1st.

Always, always, ALWAYS, look at the seller on Amazon. It may say "By Catalyst Game Labs", but that's not the seller. See the attached. The part circled in red is the Publisher, the highlighted part is the Seller.

If you click on the part highlighted in the first attachment, you'll see the list on the second attachment that shows all the sellers and how they are offering it.

I don't think there's been any official announcement beyond "physical product at GenCon." Not even for physical product being orderable online. Which is a little frustrating, honestly, as I'd like to get my hands on the PDF. Please correct me if i'm wrong and I've missed some comms.

I'm leaning towards "if the PDF was definitely going to be available this week, Catalyst would probably have said so, and therefore it probably won't be." I don't know what holdups there could be to publishing the PDF once the physical version is available, as it feels like you just export the final proof to PDF and put it on the store; but I don't have a lot of insight into the publishing process in general so maybe there's more complexity to it than I can see...?

Remember, all I'm saying is what has happened in the past, and I have no inside knowledge on these releases.

BUT, I've noticed that they frequently will release the pdfs during GenCon without announcement. Many of the times I've been at GenCon, I've seen the new books for BattleTech and Shadowrun on the shelves at the con, then got back to my room and found the PDFs on DriveThru.

I don't want to get hopes up, but if I'm sitting at home and bouncing in my chair, refreshing DriveThru and Catalyst Store every five minutes, I'd like to think I'm not alone.

Interesting: They fixed the availability of the Excalibur (it had different availability in two different tables), so now the Excalibur is available in chargen. Asides from some higher-grade wares, this means the only item in the book not available in chargen is now Seven-7.

Wow. Really? I know that they spent a lot of time on this, getting it out ASAP when they didn't even get access to the material until early May. And your first response is to complain about the volunteers putting through all the effort to get this to you as quickly as possible. Especially when MOST of you (and you know who you are) have been saying for the last three months that you doubt you would see ANY errata.

Congratulations, now you know why people stop volunteering to do things for the fandom.

Not attempting to nitpick, but since the errata doc is digital, it can be updated easily, I would assume.  Just offering some helpful observations for said update.

Page 2
p. 46, Spending Edge clarification:
"Note  that  nothing  can  ever  reduce  the  cost  of  and Edge Action to 0 Edge. "

Post by: Typhus on <08-01-19/1304:30>
Anyone able to comment if the Errata will be added to the PDF version of the rulebook?  10 pages of fixes is too much to justify a purchase for me until that's the case, unfortunately.  Especially missing tables.  That's probably a dealbreaker for me.  Definitely rules out a physical copy.

That said, in the interest of helping out, I have some suggestions on some clarifications I can see in the Errata that could be helpful.  Not knowing the intent fully, I suppose I might be wrong about my suggestions, but I saw a couple paragraphs in the Errata doc that were a little unclear as written (Essence, Cover).  I'd like to suggest some rewording for clarity.  I don't need to do so online though, if there's someone I should PM?

Cheers, and gratz on getting Errata doc out so fast.  That's a positive sign in my opinion.

Cool - this might make 6-7 Edge desirable for fast characters depending of the order of spending/receiving Edge.

No. In the world of physical books lead time is long. These books are already printed and on the way to where houses (about six to eight weeks shipping time). Any errata or changes will have to wait for a second printing if there is one.
