Title: Enchanter Aspected Magician
Post by: LukeZ on <08-31-19/0616:07>
The Alchemy branch of Enchanting says that:
"If you want a preparation to trigger a spell, you have to choose the spell it will trigger. You can only use a spell you know."

Since an Enchanter Aspected Magician cannot know spells, he can't make "spell triggering" preparations?

No, the idea is that there's 2 kinds of spells: You have the spellcasting spell-versions, and the alchemy preparation-versions. So your 'spells' are your preparation formulae, actually.

In other words, this means that a Fireball spell and a Fireball preparation are 2 different things formulae-wise.

A random rule-quote to cover my bacon:

"New spells, rituals, or alchemical preparations
can be learned by studying spell formulae or finding
some mentor (either a spirit or another Awakened
individual) to teach you."

Something NOT mentioned in the book is whether Enchanters get free preparations. I'd argue that a fair (house-)ruling would be to also give Aspected Enchanters free 'spells', which in their case means free preparation formulae.

Thank you. :)

If you are considering this for a PC do the math make some test preparations and see if you think it’s worth it.

Look at how long it will last how many preparations you can make taking into account how long they will last and the expected dice pool of the spells you will be casting from preparations.
