Title: Shadowrun, Sixth Edition Core, Submersion Question
Post by: MatrixWalker on <10-23-19/1148:35>
This is more of a question and trying to understand this.

Initiation - CRB Pg 166, [highest Magic skill] + Magic (desired Initiate Grade) Extended test (1 Month). Cost = (10 + desired Initiate Grade) Karma. (Simple rule, skill + Attribute)

Submersion - CRB Pg 195, [???] + [Resonance???] (desired Grade) Extended test (1 Week). Cost = (10 + desired Submersion Grade) Karma. (Simple rule..)
*I thought I saw somewhere a skill by name or by list somewhere. So I presume where Magic skills are Astral, Conjuring, Enchanting, and Sorcery there would be a list for Technomancy skills of Cracking, Electronics, Engineering, and Tasking (and really only 2 of those really are inclusive to Technomancy).

Am I missing where this is detailed better? Also why is the extended test only 1 week and magic is 1 month???

Tasking is the single Skill exclusive for Technomancers, so wouldnt be a long list :D

- Cracking is a skill used by all Hackers (Decker and Technomancers)

- Electronics is a skill used by all Hackers (Decker and Technomancers) and is also useful for every char that want to do a little Matrix Search

- Engineering is a skill used by many Roles. Its used - among other things -as vehicle gunnery, repairing (including repairing matrix damage), lockpicking

Contrary to magic there isnt any skill test for submerging.
But you could totally do a resonance, or something like that

So no roll (automatic Submersion gained!) then why the Extended test? No roll means no reduction in time [Level + 1] weeks.

Not sure where you are seeing that, I'm on my phone so I may have missed something but I did go back and look to make sure ... there is no test for submerging (at least I didn't write one)

@Banshee My bad Submersion isn't an extended test. Just a straight up [Level + 1] weeks.
